I made my reservation through Open Table and received lots of bonus points. The Texas Red Frito Pie was really good. The Shrimp Louie was tasty, but way too much Lettuce and not enough Shrimp. The Burger was really good, the Fries were even better! I would have stayed for dessert but was running late to catch a movie. Lots of Smokers, who brought their odor in with them, I probably won't be back on the weekend.

Do not go here if you are not white! We went to eat dinner today for my birthday and did not get a good welcome. We went about 5pm on a Fri. It was a few tables occupied. Maybe about 3 or 4 max. We told them a table for 4. The 3 women at the front were whispering to each other and after few min took us to our table. Instead of sitting us in the main dining room with everyone, they took us to a room off the entrance, like the size of a closet with 4 tables in there but nobody in there. There was no music even playing in there but was in the main dining area. After they came back in to bring plates and stuff since there were none on the table, we asked if we can be moved to the regular dining area. They then they coped an attitude. She opened the door and said "they don't want to sit in there" The reason I think we were discriminated against is because we were the only people of color in there and every single group that came in after us was not offered that room. Of course nobody was people of color. We ended up getting the only black server to come serve us and then a black family came in about 30 min later and they were having issues being seated as well. (Yes we asked) they said they had to argue with them to get a decent seat. Smh. They had them sit where the black server will serve them as well. Smh. The mgr was walking around speaking to people at the tables, but never came to ours surprisingly lol. Needless to say, we will never go back. Good place to go if you're white, other than that, don't. Pics to show how empty the main dining was and some of the people that came in after us that weren't taken to the other room to be seated.

State Fare Kitchen.... We made reservations and were seated immediately. We were thankful to the staff that wore mask, our waitress did not. I had a hard time navigating the menu with her standing within 6 feet of me. However, the food was good. The double pork was delicious, the Mash Potatoes were buttery and fluffy. The string beans, were excellent. The fried tomatoes were the best, I ever had. Yes, I would return.

Atmosphere & food was amazing! Fried green tomatoes were on point! They had just the right spices. I had the chicken biscuit with 4 H sauce. The biscuit is bigger than my hand and moist. I can't wait to return. Make reservations the restaurant is extremely busy on Saturday & Sunday.

We came for and early brunch with reservations at 1030. We were seated promptly and the service was right on point. I had a bloody Mary flight it was delicious. The flavors really varied from cup to cup. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito which was huge... Enough for breakfast the next day. I had the chicken fried steak. We definitely took half of our food to go. Everything was really good.

Went to State Fare this weekend and I can’t wait to go back. Portion sizes a plentiful and everything was tasty. One griddle cake was bigger than the plate and it was fluffy. My favorites were the hash browns and biscuits. We got there right when it opened and there was a small line but everyone was seated within 5 minutes. We’ve been in the past a little later in the day and there was a wait but nothing too crazy. All the staff were nice and kept checking in on us. This is one of my favorite restaurants when I visit Houston.

The service was superb. Our server Mark was polite and consistent. The food came out fast and was delicious. The jalapeño cornbread cup and HTX sunrise drink were to die for! My husband and I will definitely return for another date. The service, food, and drinks were all above average. The grilled shrimp were the best my husband had ever had at a restaurant! Worth a try for sure!

Dined here for brunch on my mom's birthday yesterday. We made reservations at 11 am. It was semi packed but by the time we left it was crowded. The ambiance was really nice and the space is well kept. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. For appetizers, we had the bacon wrapped shrimp and fried green tomatoes. Both good. I ordered the State Fare breakfast and replaced the biscuit with grits. The grits and sausage were my favorite. My husband didn't care for the sausage. The bacon had a nice sweet taste to it. Overall it was good, I would have preferred a little more seasoning. The mimosa flight was nice, we ordered 2 for a group of 5.

Our server was very personable and smart. The manager was also very gracious. The food was great and the atmosphere was festive. I love their drink menu. They also have a nice outdoor patio and a private parry room.

This is was my 1st time visiting. We went from lunch. I loved this place for some many reasons. Even though the service was slow but I won't blame the waiter. He was extremely efficient, me & my husband had our orders & drinks correctly. There was only one person employee (that I noticed) attending every table where I was sitting. He definitely earned an extra tip. I'm going back to try for dinner one day. This place earned my business. The food was delicious. The guacamole & cheese appetizer were a knock out. I had the frozen cocktail flight. Consist of 4 frozen cocktail (small size) but enough for 1 person. Brain freeze but who cares!!!. They were absolutely good. I recommend this place to everyone. Absolutely beautiful & the atmosphere is excellent.

We loved this place!!! They have outdoor seating and great service, but the food was the star! We had the Purist Mac ‘n Cheese with Gulf Trash, which was creamy and so good, and Pesto Grilled Cheese. For the latter, we asked the waiter what was the best side they had. He said the Whiskey Glazed Brussels. We immediately laughed out loud, because we both DESPISE brussles sprouts. Cannot even put into words how much we hate the vile bitter little bulbs. He went to great lengths to coax us into getting them, so we relented. He promised he would exchange them for a different side if we did not like them. It was not necessary. They were AMAZING! Sweet and savory at the same time and drenched in a delectable sauce that nearly completely masked the bitter taste of the actual sprouts. We were gobsmacked. The food was all so good that we discussed coming back before the end of our trip (that is something we NEVER do. We plan the whole trip around the meals and attempt to try as many different restaurants as we can in each city). We also tried two of their non-alcoholic drinks, of which they had a wide variety. I don't remember the names, but they were very unique as well.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars because our experience wasn’t bad. The food wasn’t bland, but decent. The drinks were somewhat watered down. Our server was good. She was patient with us and accommodating. I would have to try State Fair again. I would like to try something different on the menu.

🍔 Calling all burger lovers! 🌶️🧀 If you haven't tried the Chilli Cheese Burger at State Fare, you're missing out! 😋 The portions are massive, and the flavor is on point. Juicy, tender meat that'll leave your taste buds dancing. Don't just take my word for it – come savor the deliciousness! 🙌

The food order was very good, Ahi Tuna salad was very nice and the tuna was cooked perfectly. And the fried green tomatoes were nice not totally green but still nice, and ask them only put the sauce on the side of the plate. Our service was absolutely horrible we had to look for our waiter 6 times. And was looked over several time and the manger walked around talking to customers but skipped my table all together. Since it was two persons at the table and spending a little over $100 together, I will not be returning We went at 12:30 on 12-14-23

Great food! Nice decor and big portions! I would recommend this place for a good brunch and come with a healthy appetite because the plates are very generous with their portions. The place looks clean and well kept. They play music to the vibe is friendly and upbeat. There is valet available and a parking garage for additional parking.

First time to this establishment. I was impressed with the space and the seating options. They have booths with dividers that give you privacy, long tables to accommodate 6-8 people, regular tables and chairs, and they also have a nice patio along the exterior of the restaurant. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Our glasses were never empty. I had the wedge salad and the gumbo. Both were very good. The wedge salad looked more like a half head of lettuce verses a wedge; the portion was big. It was topped with candied pecans, bacon and sliced cherry tomatoes. I opted for no red onion. I also am not a blue cheese fan, so I altered mine: no blue cheese crumbles, no blue cheese dressing, substitute with jalapeno ranch instead. The gumbo was the perfect temperature with a nice piece of garlic bread. It is a little spicy, but I enjoyed it. My meal was very filling and tasted great! They have a full menu, so I will return to try more items. The restaurant was clean and the bathrooms well-tended. They have a room called the “Music Room”. Loving music as I do, I peeked in and fond out if is a private room for parties. I found out later, it is the only room they don’t play music in, so maybe they should change the name. Speaking of music, the music they play in the common areas is great. Lots of 80’s and light rock. Complimentary valet service is available. Don’t forget to tip. Regarding the valet, my only suggestion would be for them to tell the valet service to please not put their hands on the exterior windows of the cars. Both my car and my friend’s car had a palm print on the driver side window. This is very annoying especially if you just had your vehicle detailed. I am not discrediting State Fare for this and wouldn’t dock them a star in my review, but it would be appreciated if something was mentioned. For an extra treat, visit during the holidays. The Memorial City “Gateway” is nicely lit with pretty Christmas lights.

Visited late Saturday night, so there was plenty of seating available. Very nice restaurant, but I wasn't impressed. Limited menu & overpriced for what they offer, in my opinion. On top of it being the first time here, we were solicited by 2 pre-teens right at our table askfor donations. I mean, really??? I could understand if this happened outside but not right at my table. They tried a few others as well & we all seemed to be taken back by this. Honestly, I thought it was some sort of Youtube prank.

State Fare is such a fun place to go for brunch. My family and I really enjoyed their “secret menu” brunch board which had pecan pancakes, chicken & waffles, deviled eggs, and avocado toast. We also tried their frozen cocktails flight… OMG the ocean water is AMAZING!!! I crave that silly drink it was so good. The service was just okay but we knew they were busy so no real problem for us.

I recently dined at State Fare, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was nothing short of amazing. The staff was not only friendly but also highly professional, making the overall dining experience a true delight. From start to finish, State Fare delivered on taste, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended!

Went in for brunch, have been several times before always a great experience. Atmosphere is nice, servers always friendly. I ordered a chicken fried steak, was disappointed when I cut in to it. Was paper thin all batter. Two others in our party ordered the same. One had a little more thickness to it but the other was very similar to mine. I had to bring it to their attention. At that point I was kinda like blah. Server did offer to make another but I kinda lost my appetite. He did pack me one to go for the inconvenience I guess. How was that one? Idk didn’t try it gave it away. Did look a little better. Not holding it against them just not ordering that again.

Mother's Day Special Board was delish. Daniel was an awesome server. We were seated without reservation. Mimosas on point. Everything acceptable. People answering the phone should have better customer service...if it weren't for their attitude they would have received 5 stars.

Overall, I was disappointed in my visit. Food was decent, but nothing like I expected. The service lacked and watched others receive just as. Poor of service as I experienced.

We went here for a group dinner. We were in a private room, which was not good for talking. It was too loud that we can’t hear people in our own table. The food was good and the staff was helpful.

The food was great. We tried some of the appetizers and drinks for happy hour. It was not too busy when we went about 4. The BBQ brisket firecrackers were good, but very spicy. I was not able to eat much of them, but the general consensus was that they were great. I highly recommend the SW Salmon cakes and the smoked chicken nachos. They all are generous portions especially for the price. The margaritas were well made and nice and stout. The frose was good enough that I ordered a second one. We did arrive during shift change, so I understand it can be a more hectic time for the staff. That being said service was slow. We sat at the bar and had to flag down a bartender more than once. It took over 10 minutes to pay our bill, and getting a box was a little difficult. Overall I would recommend them for the food and drinks, but maybe try a different time.

This is a great brunch spot. Great location, staff, and menu selection. They even had complimentary valet when I went. Our server was very friendly and recommended the most amazing red velvet waffles with ribs. Definitely try the frozen drink flight. I would return and recommend this place to friends, family, and clients.

One of our favorite restaurants! The food is always cooked to perfection! Highly recommend the Honey Glazed Brussel Sprouts!! The service can seem really slow at times but we’ve never had an issue. A couple of times we’ve gone it’s been hot in there like the A/C wasn’t on but it’s Houston so it’s just hot everywhere. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
