My stay at the Whitehall was fine. That's the best I can say about it. Being a fancy hotel, I expected a better experience, but I encountered a number of shortcomings. The homeless. As I sat in the lobby one day, a homeless man sat down and talked to me for several minutes about rolling dice. No one asked him to leave. Outside the hotel, the same homeless man did not move from a bench for the three days I was at the hotel. The lobby of the hotel was very nice. But, moving beyond, I found worn and dirty carpet in the hallways, scuff marks on walls and doors, and other issues I wouldn't expect at such a fancy place. The TV in my room had it's menu burned onto the screen - someone had left the TV on with the menu open for a very long time. The food in the bar/restaurant was terrible and expensive. I ate one meal in the bar, and paid $19 for some reheated chicken tenders and fries. They weren't even cooked all the way. I wouldn't have eaten there, but there are so few options for restaurants in walking distance. All told, I would not return. I would pay a little more for someplace nicer, or pay less for someplace about the same that may not be in the area.

This is a very elegant downtown hotel and close to various restaurants and attractions. I enjoyed the valet parking, just wish that was included in the price. Had a few rowdy guests on night one, didn't expect the walls to be so thin. The bed was super comfortable but the room had chipping paint and the bathroom was smaller than expected given the spacious room. Weather made it difficult to enjoy the outdoor amenities like the pool and outdoor dining options. Overall it was a good stay.

Service was very good. However hotel room was a bit dated and double room is 2 full size beds not queens. Also, on-site parking is valet only. Sal, the reason for the hotel rating was based on a few items, the carpet seemed a little dirty in the hallway to the room. There were stains/smudges on the entry wall in our room, and in the the bathroom there was loose caulking in the shower and the shower curtain was too small (width) to fully enclose the shower.

So the room was decent enough; spacious, with some strange layout choices. The amenities were pretty good all together. The restaurant food...decent. But what elevated it to 5 stars for me was the staff. Every single staff member interaction I had during my stay was just incredibly pleasant. They were all remarkably friendly, amiable, and sincerely helpful. Quite possibly the nicest hotel staff I have ever encountered. That can make a humdrum trip to Houston of all places so, so much better. Thanks for being so friendly and kind!

This room was gross. There was hair all in the shower & even coming out of the overflow drain. We had to call someone to come fix the shower because it wasn't draining. For $300 a night, it wasn't worth it at all. The bottom of the pool was dirty, so we never even went in the pool. Upon arrival there were no carts for luggage so we had to carry everything in with the kids. & checking in, they didn't even have the correct info on the reservation. We were at the front counter trying to figure it all out for way too long, especially with 2 little kids. Would def not stay here again.

My recent stay at The Whitehall was nothing short of spectacular. Right from the outset, I was impressed by the hotel's grandeur and its prime location. However, it was the staff that truly made my experience unforgettable. James Barrera was a constant source of recommendations and assistance, ensuring I made the most of my stay. Managers Aurora and Yeme were the epitome of professionalism, addressing any queries with grace and efficiency. My room was a delightful blend of modern luxury and classic charm. Waking up to the city views and sinking into the plush bedding at night was a treat I looked forward to each day. The gastronomic offerings at The Whitehall deserve a special mention. Every meal was an adventure, with flavors that danced on the palate and presentations that were a feast for the eyes. The bar's cocktail menu was equally impressive, with each drink being a unique blend of taste and artistry. To sum it up, The Whitehall is a must-visit for anyone seeking an urban oasis with top-notch service. A heartfelt thank you to James Barrera, Aurora, and Yeme for their dedication and for making my trip memorable.

Terrible front desk service. I was double charged for a one night stay. Mistakes happen so I try to remedy the situation by calling the front desk. Puts me on hold and then hangs up after 15 minutes of waiting. I call back and the lady can’t do her job properly so she just gives up and says to call accounting. It should be her job to fix these mistakes and call accounting, she received my past reservation details and had my credit card on file. Ended up doing a charge back and letting the bank deal with it. 1 star service = not a 4 star hotel.

The outside and the overall esthetics of the hotel is amazing. Customer service is also top notch. Unfortunately, the rooms themselves are nothing to write home about. The rooms are basic and do not necessarily have a fridge or microwave. I assumed that was a standard amenity but it isn't. My room had the basics but did not have any amenities. I did like the face soap provided, but the bathroom is extremely tiny. They did a good job of cramming the necessities in such a small space. The only exciting part of staying in this hotel is location, the face soap, and of course their customer service. Customer service is very important. Parking is by valet and a little pricey; however there is the option of parking in the garage a block away for $33/day. The garage is at 1600 and you can get to the hotel without walking outside. The walk through the various corridors is lengthy so wear comfy shoes, but worth it.

Upon arrival, we were met with friendly valet staff. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by John, who did our check-in. This man was extremely friendly and courteous! Every time he saw us, he addressed us by our names! He helped us locate the bar on the second floor to redeem our free drinks as it was raining and the outdoor bar had been closed. We were heading out for the night and forgot our masks and John was more than happy to provide us with some. Everyone we came across was friendly. We will definitely be back! Thank you John for making our stay great!!

The decor and the inside of the hotel is very nice and immaculately maintained. The staff is very nice. The rooms are spacious. I would definitely stay here again. It's walking distance to restaurants. I definitely recommend the coffeeshop on location but not the restaurant. (I ordered tea with my breakfast. Something like food particles were floating in the teapot in the hot water and the mug was dirty). I was very comfortable while staying here.

I only recommend booking this hotel because of its walking proximity to the federal bldg. Way overdue for updating. Photos don't show the peeling wall paper and layers upon layers of chipped/worn paint. Tiny bathrooms, not very clean. Lobby fragrance is overwhelming. Bed was comfortable.

The advertising is not what it says 1. It's says all rooms are eligible for a pull out bed 2. The was supposed to give each person in the room one drink a piece per day per room nope not mine...3. They never told me I had to walk around the corner to get in after hours.

When Staying in downtown Houston the Whitehall is my favorite place to stay. It's location is ideal, close to Freeway so we don't have to drive around downtown trying to find it. Walking distance to nightlife and restaurants. The staff is always very courteous and helpful. The patio bar is a great place to hang out and have a cocktail. The rooms are always clean, spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Houston.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Whitehall Hotel, and I must say, it was a truly fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly service from the staff, who went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated, with elegant furnishings and tasteful decor throughout. My room was spacious and well-appointed. The bathroom was clean and modern, with a great shower and plenty of towels. One of the highlights of my stay was at Edgar’s, the hotel's restaurant, which served some of the best food. The service received from Natalie and James was impeccable, and ensured that I had everything I needed.

It's an excellent place for an older hotel. Location is at the end of downtown and requires a long walk or a short train ride to get to the thick of things but I like quiet. Restaurant is excellent. But the service and the employees were the best of the experience. Very friendly and helpful as is you were the only person they ever cared about. I will go back, and I highly recommended it.

I had a great experience, my stay was 10 out of 10!!! Valet parking crew very friendly and always available. John at the front desk was super polite and he made our experience spectacular. Definitely coming back!

Excellent service and friendly staff in the lobby. However, the interior appeared outdated, and the rooms could use some updates. Despite this, the bed was comfortable, and I was pleased to find a mini bar and coffee machine in the room. Great location

Easily one of the most best hotels I have ever seen. Here are some things I’ll list. 1. Quality of everything: The lobby and the interior was really fancy looking, especially the room since the beds were clean and the bathroom was also top notch. 2. Customer Service: Really nice people, especially the front since if you needed something they would do it for you. 3. Restaurant: The food tastes amazing. Even the price is moderate or maybe a little expensive it’s worth the price. Also nice people working there. My overall is that if you are rich and want a quick night stay I would recommend this place.

I stayed here for just one night, so my review is solely based on that quick time. I didn't use any room service whatsoever, but the rooms were clean and fresh during my stay. Check-in and check-out was smooth. The location is closer to bus stops. I recommend it for other travellers.

  • 4/5 Jennifer M. 7 months ago on Google
Rooms are a little dated. Mine had plug issues where a couple didn't work. I also didn't get all the channels my coworker got. The beds are super comfy, though and I wish I would have gotten the tag for the pillows! Location is fine for downtown, but walking to any place is a little sketchy. Just be wary of walking! Otherwise it's great! I've stayed twice now and the staff is always wonderful.

I just want to say that Thalia and Ms. Vicky has played a big role in my everyday life for the past 3 years. The customer service has always been top tier and so has my coffee! These ladies make difference and I’m so glad I got to experience them. Thank you ladies for always having a great attitude and seeing me off to my new career adventures. I hope to see you again!

The bathrooms are not being properly cleaned by housekeepers. They are neglecting the tubs and walls. They are very dirty. They are not being scrubbed or cleaned. It’s very unsightly. I used to be a housekeeping inspector. Those details are so important and hard to miss. The bathroom door needs replaced. It’s rotting on the bottom from water damage and there is no vent in the bathroom either. The room itself looked clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel on the outside is nice and the lobby is beautiful. Business and vacation trip.

Pro-tip: a four-star hotel is not necessarily any cleaner or more convenient than a two or three star. Bathroom has toothpaste on the faucet and some repairs or dust in the shower and a bit of pee residue around the toilet screw covers as shown in the video. You can follow the conversations of everyone walking past at night... Or stun everyone nearby with an INCREDIBLE BANG just letting the door swing shut and SLAM. Wi-Fi is decent, $40 valet parking only, sheets smell clean. Could use some updates, impeccable cleaning, or an option for self parking to make this a better value that I'd stay at again.

This hotel is nice but old. The age adds some charm and it is cool that it is unique but it also creates issues. Elevators are slow, trim and paint in rooms is not in great condition, and the plumbing was problematic. Or shower didn't drain well and the tub didn't get hot. They did send someone to fix the tub fairly quickly. There is also no hot tub by the pool and the pool is not heated. The room was spacious though and the staff was nice.

Everyone was very nice. Whenever we walked by the front desk the attendant remembered our names and said Good morning/good night. The rooms were clean. The restaurant had good food. I had the avocado toast and it was good. The omelet my husband had was nothing special, it didn't seem freshly made, but more like a premade /heat it up kind of omelet. I still give this place 5 stars because it was clean and the staff was very nice.

Nice room and valet parking staff though I was surprised they charge your credit card on check in $50 to cover valet and incidentals. Let's see if they refund any of it. Convenient to government offices. While I was showering the AC blew a hair ball onto the bath mat, I was not impressed.

Consistent, comfortable, clean, always meet expectations. Honestly, this is the nicest hotel I have experienced to date! Newer, slightly upscale on all the furnishings and common area design and decor. Beautiful property and friendly, professional staff. Highly recommended!

Wonderful place to stay!!! Can’t say enough of how friendly, accommodating, and approachable the Whitehall staff were to our large 10 plus room reservations. Our family came from all over Texas to celebrate my niece’s Quince. They were able to have our rooms reserved all on one floor. It made our interaction so much easier. John, in the front desk, made us feel so welcoming from the moment we stepped foot into the hotel premises till the time we checked out. Ben, in valet, did an awesome job in taking us to the venue and getting us back home safely. Both very friendly and down to earth. It’s rare for me to write reviews however after my family’s stay at the Whitehall, I knew I had to share my positive experience for others to experience. You will not be let down.

Friendly service by everyone I interacted with. My luggage was delayed and on my first night I didn't have anything with me. The lady at the front desk was very kind and provided me with some extra toiletries. Shuttle service was on point. The rooms were nice. I did not care for the toilet seat being so close to the tub and it was very uncomfortable. Other than that, it was a great experience all around. The complimentary breakfast menu was very extensive.

  • 4/5 Denitra H. 1 year ago on Google
The valet staff and concierge were very friendly upon arrival. Check-in staff were just as friendly. The hotel was clean. The rooms are small but feasible. Me, my husband and two daughters made it work. When we booked we thought is was walking distance to the Minute Maid park, however that wasn’t the case. They do offer a shuttle, but with the traffic the shuttle was slow going and coming. Uber wasn’t too bad price wise for most places we wanted to go. They were lots of good opportunities for photo ops at the hotel as the places is aesthetically pleasing.

As a Hotel Management Degree Student, the Whitehall Houston was excellent. With very fast and informative check-in, kind and helpful valet, and a beautiful property/room. Rooms were clean and provided great views, situated right in the heart of the city. Minor cosmetic maintenance could be done in the rooms, especially the restroom, but functionality was key and had been met without a problem. Would recommend and would stay again.

I stayed overnight at this hotel due to attending a conference there. As soon as I entered the hotel John was rude, did not greet me properly and immediately snapped at me saying he didn’t have any rooms ready for me to check in. I proceeded to my conference then went back to check in later. Ana Maria was there and helped me with a smile. She was patient, helpful and answered my questions. I appreciated her. After my initial interaction with John, I was ready to cancel the reservation I had. My room was nice. The bathroom was really small and the toilet ran loudly every 6 minutes. The shower was nice but the drain was clogged so the water pooled at my feet quickly. Overall my stay was okay. I doubt I would return to this hotel. I have many other options.

Narya was excellent. She’s very attentive and provides above and beyond customer service. She’s the difference between guests staying once or booking repeatedly. She’s an asset to the Hotel I’d like to say she made our stay special and that she only provided us this level of experience however, that just simply isn’t the case. I witnessed her with other guests as well. And she gives 110% to every guest. So good to see a strong staff in place.

I had a great time staying at the Whitehall! Their customer service and attention to detail are exceptional. When my husband and I arrived, the staff had left a bottle of wine in our room because they knew we were going away for the weekend. The room was spotless, and the bed was quite comfortable. The second-floor bar was ideal for gathering a few pals who had popped by to exchange gifts. While we were in the pub, James, the bartender, was very accommodating and attentive. He knew our names from the previous night. Again, pay close attention to detail! The food was also excellent throughout the weekend. If you ever need a hotel in Houston, I highly recommend staying at the Whitehall.

Just had a great vacation with my family in Houston staying at the Whitehall Hotel. I always like to find interesting hotels in downtown areas versus the chain hotels out in the suburbs... and this place did not disappoint! Really amazing location in downtown Houston so convenient to the convention center and stadiums. Beautiful hotel and really friendly staff. John at the front desk was incredibly helpful and always made us feel welcome. Clean rooms and a really great outdoor bar! Was a great place to just hang out.

I highly recommend staying at the Whitehall if you are ever in need of a hotel stay in Houston.

Stayed at the Whitehall over the Holidays, and it really made our stay in Houston special. The Holiday decorations were wonderful and really added to the festivities downtown. It's really nice to stay in a hotel where the staff gets to know you and makes your stay feel personal. Clean rooms and so conveniently located. Oh, and the restaurant has a great breakfast and the bar outside is great for people watching. Highly recommend.

Staff here is absolutely amazing. Everyone is so friendly, they bend over backwards to help and meet whatever needs you have. Whether it’s the restaurant/bar staff or the engineering staff or the front desk staff they’ve been nothing but absolute professional. We have had some minor challenges with our room, Dead battery in the smoke detector, malfunctioning thermostat, but they have responded marvelously to all of our requests. Definitely will stay here again if we have a chance.

The Whitehall stood up to its southern hospitality origins! The staff were wonderful, professional, and courteous in a beautiful atmosphere. The hotel was centrally located for everything we wanted to see in Houston and we had our toddler and 2 mini dogs with us. Everyone was accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The valet staff were courteous and prompt having our vehicle ready. The restaurant staff were excellent as well. We only had the chance to have breakfast at the Buffalo Bayou, but it was absolutely delicious and more than we expected. Great amenities for a family, and opting for a room with a tub for the kiddo was a plus. We would certainly stay again!

From start to finish, we were simply blown away by John and Saul. They turned a negative into an unbelievable positive. Their can-do attitude is a rarity and customer service these days. If you want more of a family feel this hotel is for you from the first moment you step into the lobby. You will experience that atmosphere. Going to a Rockets game enjoy their complementary shuttle to and from the Toyota center. There professionalism and approach to our family has earned them the right to have us as customers for life!!!! From the valet service to housekeeping, everyone displays a can do attitude!!!! so refreshing to come across this hotel. It has restored my faith in customer service.
