The food here is expensive and is amazing. I would have given this place 5 stars if they had not enforced 18% of gratitude on split checks of two on a table. Again enforcing 18% of >1000$ on one family. I am a happy tipper, where I tip for the service given to me but I genuinely feel enforcing gratitude as a policy on customers is not good and was not expected here. It has to be the responsibility of the employer to pay their staff well, given the stature of the resturant and its menu pricing, not enforce it on the customer. Shame.

Excellent steak house with beautiful ambiance. Everything on the menu is delicious, highest compliments to the chef on the bone marrow appetizer. Extensive cocktail menu makes it even better. One thing that I didn’t like is having to pay miserable $6 for valet parking…if I am coming in as a guest and paying $600 for dinner for two… my parking should be free. It just cheapens the whole experience.

Mastro’s is synonym of having a good time and also great good. The restaurant prides itself of the great night ambiance you can find. People are very well dressed up and they do have a strict dress code policy. Their wine and spritz selection is very robust and covers almost any type of liquor. If you come here you must have steak!! 🥩 Some of the other choices we had were the tuna tostada which was specially designed for the restaurant and the Caesar salad. We enjoyed all of our meal! Definitely a type of place to go and be seen out with your partner or your friends!

One of the BEST dining experiences i have had to date, and this is coming from someone who has dined at Michelin star restaurants. From The valet whom opened my car door, to the doorman that greeted me with the warm smile, to my server (Sam) & the team helping him, my experience here was nothing short of amazing. Ambiance was perfect, classy with a modern flare, live music that was not at all distracting but instead simply enhanced the already pleasant ambiance. The restaurant was VERY clean, entire staff was extremely attentive… glass was always full & there was plenty of room at my table to enjoy the meal w/out crowding. Service was also very quick. I had the 6oz filet, BEST steak i have had to date. Sam was my server & he was amazing, very knowledgeable & attentive, not just to me but to all of his tables… very impressive. Sam knew the menu well & really listened to what i had a taste for & from there made wonderful suggestions. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment. I only wish they had a location in my city, but since they do not, i am more than certain i will be flying in to Houston often just to dine with them again. Keep up the great work.

Environment, food, service and drinks 10/10. Definitely coming back for another special event. Of course, be ready to spend a lot of money here. I ordered a petite steak with lobster and mash potatoes. Everything is separate. I can’t remember the name of the drinks but they were delicious. Worth the money. Oh, Valet parking was $30.

Excellent fine dining in the heart of Houston Galleria neighborhood. Very fresh and unique menu for steaks and seafood. They have an extensive cocktail menu and bourbon selections. Live piano music on a Monday night and pianist was outstanding. Deserts are plentiful but the butter cake with ice cream is a crowd favorite. Restuarant staff and mangers ensure guests are well attended and satisfied. They surprised us with wedding anniversary deserts. Thank you Mastro's for a great evening.

Came to Mastro's to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. Didn't know what to expect since it was our first time. From the beginning, Jonathan made our experience great with his exceptional service. He helped us out with drink selections and food options. My wife had the pork chops with mac n cheese, and I had the red snapper, blackened, with asparagus. Portions were a good size, and the food was delicious. My wife also had a lemon drop, and I had an old fashion. Overall, it was a great experience. I would recommend it as a place to try for any occasion.

This already feels like the weirdest review I've written so far. Mastros is one of our favorite places to eat for steak. We've also frequented the location in New York as well. However, this last visit was strange for us. For starters, we went for a birthday in which I had a custom cake ordered for the occasion. When I made the reservation, I selected the birthday occasion. The restaurant also called to confirm the day of the reservation. At no time was it mentioned that outside cakes were not allowed. We showed up with our cake, and they told us it could not be eaten in the restaurant. They were nice enough to store the cake during our meal, but still! I feel that this should have been told to us at the time of reservation or at least when they called to confirm we were still coming that night. I understand they don't want to serve your cake, but no one asked them to. We are perfectly fine with cutting and serving our own cake. Our waiter was more attentive to his other tables than us. We had to wait a long time to get things. We'd ask for simple things like a cocktail menu and still had to wait about 15 minutes to get it. Meanwhile, we can see him clearly tending to other things and at times just standing. Basically, he just wanted to take our order and be on his way. It's like he just kept forgetting about us. However, every bite of food was lovely. It was almost too good, but I still thought about the cake we wouldn't be able to cut. The cake we brought with us for no reason. They did provide the complimentary cake, which was absolutely wonderful, but only enough for us each to have a good spoon full. Giving it 4 stars because of the waiter and the fact that we couldn't eat our cake. The good food saved this experience, though we probably won't be back for a while.

This was a highly reviewed steakhouse as a must stop, must try place. While the food was good, nothing exceptional about it other than paying a high price for the hype. We were informed prior to our arrival that it was more upscale and strict dress code. Well that wasn’t what we saw. Yoga stretch pants, faded jeans, etc. All items on their website that wasn’t allowed. Walk in and see a sign that states no photography. What do we see at the next table over, people with a multi light setup like a social influencer would use. So obviously, I took some photos of what we had the pleasure of trying. Steaks: The bone in ribeye had a bark / char I wish I knew about prior. The A5 Japanese steak was delicious and so soft and tender. The filet would probably be the best flavor of the night. The hot rock, not many places in town I know that does this. And always one of my favorites, must try’s. This did not disappoint. Highly recommend this dish if you’re in the area. The Mac and cheese was delicious, as was the cream of corn. The service is EXCEPTIONAL! The wait staff is on point! The environment, not for me. While the decor is nice and the scenery. This evening there was so many people, the noise level you couldn’t talk to the person next to you without yelling. By the end of the night, I lost my voice. Felt like you’re in a club with loud music, attempting to order drinks. It’s a nice spot, with good food. But if you want to hold a conversation, this isn’t where I’d recommend a date night.

Visited for my boyfriends 31st Bday dinner, it exceeded all our expectations! I even called a head to request a personalized menu for the occasion which they happily accommodated. Ambiance was great - we especially loved the live music. The dinning room was buzzing the whole night and I see why ! The food and service were definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ John gave us some great recommendations from the menu and we ended up going with .. • Wedge salad • 35oz Tomahawk + Black truffle butter • Lobster mashed potatoes • Lobster mac • Butter cake • Cheesecake We ordered our steak medium, which is our normal at any steak house - though we found it a little Too rare they happily accommodated are request to have it cooked a bit longer to be on the safe side since I’m pregnant too. The side dishes were definitely the stars of the night. The lobster mashed potatoes were the first Of it’s kind that I’ve ever tried, very rich & flavorful with plenty of HUGE chunks of lobster. Mac was just as delicious and packed with lobster as well. John told us each side had 1 lb. of lobster each - and he was not exaggerating!!! Our night was amazing and we cannot wait to come back for another special occasion!

Undeniably the best rib-eye I’ve ever had. Bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The mushroom side was my favorite. The lobster roll was so good! The lobster Mac and cheese was just ok. House salad was good. Very good cocktails, wine list superb. The service top notch. Ambience sexy and bold. Music too loud. We asked to be moved so that we could hear one another. They moved us quickly and professionally.

One of the most excellent fine dinning in Houston, with great atmosphere and excellent services in this dinning. Foods are served with fresh and tasty and I really love the Ribeye steak, juicy tenderness and delicious. Not forget their best desserts to have after your meal. Excellent!!

Posh side of town. Softest steak ive ever had. Lots of wine choices. The mashed potatoes were very good. Cons: crowded and noisy. Not recommended for a peaceful relaxing dinner. The butter cake (?) was a little too rich for my taste.

Wonderful experience for Restaurants week. Great food! I had the French onion soup, salmon and mango sherbert. I'm extremely picky about how my fish is made, but I had ZERO issues with mine! I added the truffle butter and wild mushrooms and black truffle Gnocci (these items are up charges on the Restaurants week menu). The waiter was amazing (wish I remembered his name, hope he sees this and drops it for me lol) he knows his wines and got me a great red! 🤌🏽 My husband got the Tuna, T-bone steak I think (upcharge, but it is huge) with lobster mac and cheese and butter cake. For his drink, he had the sazerac. Great date night place. Also, there is a valet but I think you can park a little way and walk to the restaurant. The only very small draw back was sitting outside by the waterfall. It was beautiful but my friends were sweating lmao, the fans helped buy its way too hot in Texas at the moment. I will go back when it's cooler.

Worth every penny! Was there for a date night. The most amazing Service from beginning to end ! Awesome drinks. The steaks were perfect. The sides were great and the butter cake was the greatest of all time ! There was a live singer that “sang” for real, he sound good. It was packed in there but there service/servers made us feel like we were the only ones there. Our waiter knew the menu in great detail and was able to suggest items. He was right about everything! I will definitely be going back.

We dined here for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. We made a reservation for 7:45pm and our table was ready in 5min or less. Pros: Great customer service, great food, teamwork at its finest, valet parking, live music. Cons: This is not a bad thing but we just didn't know how lit it was in here. It was packed and loud. This is not a place for romantic dinners during the night when there is live music. Alexander our server was great! He was attentive and funny. We really enjoyed him and his recommendations. He suggested I try the Canvasback Cabernet and my goodness it was so good. The best scalloped potatoes, truffle mushrooms ever!!! Everything was really good and we will definitely be back.

    1. Super slow service, took over 30min to get drinks and over 45min to get the food order started 😅 2. Low quality chef knowledge, one should never filet a Bronzino because it dries it out! It must be cooked whole to preserve the tenderness and flavor, like at Travels Table it is AMAZING!! 3. The bread was pretty good and warm. 4. The view and live music was lovely!

By far, favorite steakhouse in Houston. Excellent service, great ambiance, delicious cocktails and lengthy wine list. Highly recommend trying the sushi as a starter. Nothing better than your rare steak coming out in a sizzling plate!

Food was ok, Brussels sprouts were uncooked, the filet steak was 8 out of 10, ribeye steak was better, wagyu roll was ok... tuna tower was amazing, French onion soup was excellent, the drinks are amazing! Good atmosphere, worth the money spent...

We went to Mastro’s for my birthday after knowing about it for a while as a Houston staple and a must try. We are big fans of steakhouses and were excited to celebrate here. I was a server and bartender for many years in fine dining, so I have a lot of grace but I also know how things should be. The big miss with this place is the service. It’s incredibly high volume and felt understaffed. You will not get the attentive, five star service you’d expect at this price point. Our waiter was sweating and visibly juggling more than he could handle. He walked away while we were asking him questions twice to attend to other tables. He didn’t sell us on anything on the menu and really didn’t make an attempt to make us feel special or help us make choices. My boyfriend had mentioned my birthday on the reservation, but the server didn’t acknowledge it or ask if we were celebrating anything like they usually do. The dessert had no happy birthday or candle which was very disappointing. The butter cake was fantastic. The food was okay, nothing special. The scalloped potatoes were average, along with the mac & cheese and corn. Nothing extravagant and we felt that the sides and steak are much better at Steak 48, B&B butchers or Eddy V’s. The strawberry martini is super sweet and tastes like juice, not sure if there’s any alcohol even in there. THE BREAD SERVICE COSTS $5!! What a cheap move for a restaurant like this. Overall this will be our first & last time at Mastro’s as we’ve had spectacular experiences elsewhere and for a better price at that. This is a turn and burn environment with service that doesn’t match the price point. I will stick with my beloved Steak 48!!

Christmas party with our group! Had the greens salad, super big Jumbo Shrimp, fried asparagus with sauce. Moved onto the main course with the bone in ribeye which was cooked perfectly. They even made a peppercorn sauce for us. Sides of mashed potatoes & Mac-n-cheese. Finished with the chocolate cake. Everything!!! Was excellent. Most importantly, the staff was top notch! Nailed it! Absolutely must visit. The area is the nicest part of up-town / post oak Houston.

Reunions are sweeter when your food and drinks are best rated and staff are the sweetest. Mr Rich made it exceptional by giving us courtesy celebratory dessert! We had crab cakes, tuna, and roasted bone marrow. My very good friend had steak and martini. The ambience with the wall fountain was as addition to the elegant yet subtle atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Masrto’s is one of my favorite steakhouses I’ve been to. They definitely know how to create an experience. We’ve been a few times and each one was excellent. The prices are on the upper end so plan to spend $50-$150 per person depending on drinks and the cut you order. This last visit we had a party of 8 people and ordered appetizers, salads, steaks, sides drinks and deserts. Everything was fantastic. The sides are big enough for 6-8 people and the salads can be split between two. Everyone got a different cut of meat and each one was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Drinks were top notch and mixed great. Save room for dessert as the butter came and cherry crumble are delicious. Prepare for a nice long meal we’ve been there over 3 hours each time we come. Mastro’s on my short list of place to celebrate a special occasion.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Omg. Atmosphere is so fun. Super super nice and elegant. Waiters were super professional and friendly. The food is well worth every penny. Great for date nights, adult birthday celebrations, work events, etc. I forgot to take pics of my food but their signature cake has my heart.

I generally prefer local restaurants than chains. But I was blown away by how good the food was at this steakhouse chain. We went on a Saturday with no reservations and sat that the bar. Despite being busy we were immediately greeted by the bartender. Here is the food we had and our review of it: Scallops - 6/5 perhaps one of the best scallops we have had. How they get the scallops so brown on the surface and yet juicy on the inside, I don't know. King crab sushi - 4/5 pretty good, but not exceptional. Would have liked to taste more of the crab. Filet Mignon 6 oz and 9 oz - 6/5 Absolutely perfectly cooked steaks, with a nice rub/dry sauce on top which was to die for. One of the best steaks we have tasted recently. By this time we were so engrossed in the food that we forgot to take pictures of the entree and the sides😀 Half side of Garlic Mashed Potatoes- 5/5 Very tasty. Creamy, indicating lots of butter 😀 Half side of crab fried rice - 3/5 Was good, but perhaps not worth the price. This is the only one we would perhaps not get when we come back again. The bartenders despite being busy gave us prompt attention. The ambience makes for a moody evening and good people watching. Valet parking was convenient. We are converts and will definitely be back at Mastro's

We tried a couple restaurants before stumbling upon this gem. We had no reservation and didn't have to wait to be seated on a Wednesday night with a full house. Every table had guests and we enjoyed great service, attentive staff and delicious food. What a great way to spend our 20th Anniversary!

We went for a birthday celebration 🥳 this past Saturday. We had reservation for 8 people. We were well taken care of by James. The food was amazing, everyone loved their dish. I had the blackened snapper (that white sauce is amazing!) and we share some sides. Those that ordered the steak enjoyed it. The birthday dessert is very very good.

The dress code is a joke and is not enforced despite the plaque on the door and a sign at hostess stand. Shorts and white Hanes t-shirts are acceptable men’s wear. When we mentioned this “strictly” enforced policy to the manager, he had response to the matter and couldn’t do anything about it. My wife and I love to dress up for a night on the town. Either enforce your policy or get rid of it. Now to the food and service. Service was great but the $75 bone in rib-eye was as tough as a boot. For all the hype and the expensive meal, houston has much better offerings for a fraction of the price.

We went there recently for an anniversary dinner. We looked at the reviews and definitely lived to their reputation. I even received a call a day later just to follow up on my experience. The service was excellent and Erica, our waitress, was very attentive. Great selection of steaks and drinks and food. Loved their whiskey selection. The place is beautiful and the food is amazing. Expect to spend some money but you get what you pay for and worth it. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be back. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time.

Okay I got lucky and got to enjoy this delicious meal/ experience for my company Christmas Party. The place is gorgeous with seating inside and out and the service is top notch. I had the steak and family style sides with appetizers and dessert and everything was delicious. One day I will come with the hubby for a date but so glad I got to try it out.
