Very thankful that this place was open today! The food was amazing and the service was great. Another good German restaurant in the area that I highly recommend. The sauerkraut was shockingly well prepped. The atmosphere was nostalgic 👌🏻

I haven't been to a real German restaurant since being stationed at Ramstein, AB W. Germany in the 80's. Found Rudi Lechner's by searching Yelp. Went for dinner tonight. Greeted and seated immediately buy a hostess dressed in a traditional style German dress. Our waitress, also in German attire, came to the table very shortly after we were seated. Both hostess and waitress were very friendly. The atmosphere was definitely traditional German, even had live music by a gentleman playing nice German music on an accordion and sang some songs also in German. It was awesome! We received our drinks quickly along with a plate of zucchini bread and regular bread. Both delicious. The food arrived in very good time and was delicious!!!! My wife ordered traditional wiener schnitzel, spaetzel, and mixed veggies. I had the Heritage Sampler Plate because I wanted a bit of everything :-) It had Pork Loin, Pork Wiener Schnitzel, Cabbage Roll, Grilled Knockwurst, Roast Chicken, Austrian Potatoes, Red Cabbage, Sauerkraut, and Potato Pancake (Latke) Also had a very good Edleweizen - Hefeweizen wheat beer on tap. Very tasty! We ordered apfel strudel and Black Forest cake to take home. *Note if you are allergic to nuts - the zucchini bread as well as apfel struedel have nuts in them and we weren't made aware of that. We will absolutely be going back!

Went here for my anniversary. It was so nice. Service was quick and the food was so fresh and delicious. The man playing the accordion and trumpet was so entertaining. Loved him!

Had a great meal at Rudy Lechners. From the traditional atmosphere to the yummy schnitzel to the draft German bier served in-boot, everything was perfect. Would definitely recommend to those in search for a taste of Bavaria.

Nice place to have a meaty and abundant meal with the company of a nice beer or a glass of wine. Since the arrival you realize that you are in a german style restaurant, because the hostess is dressing with a traditional german outfit. It was our first time in this place, and because we are not familiar with de dishes. We ordered the Heritage Sampler Plate for 2, to try a little of everything. What a nice entrée. Everything was delicious but we couldn’t finish it because it was plenty. Our waiter was Artemio, he was profesional, attentive and explained us all our doubts. Next time, I hope to catch the Live music, must be fun.

It's been quite a few years since our last visit, glad my wife thought of it today. She enjoyed most of her chicken schnitzel with a mound of mashed taters and red cabbage.....that's right, I helped her....that's my job, I liked my Hungarian goulash with noodles and tasty red cabbage kraut. The beef was tasty but slightly dry...not my favorite. The service provided by Tiffany was even better than the food. I don't need the complimentary bread, two kinds, one of which is their zucchini bread, with two types of spreads, one sweet, one with chives, I didn't need but the Zucchini disappeared along with a slice of the other kind.

Thank you Rudi for providing the location and meals for the community to meet and interact with our officers. The atmosphere of the restaurant is good with flags and arts. The food here tastes authentic. The dish that really surprised me is the string noodles with cheese. The string noodles they used are identical to what we call the long life noodles or birthday noodles for the Chinese. The event was really a success. I'll come back for the Schweinshaxe, sausages and the beer next time.

Went on a Saturday at noon and they were surprisingly empty. Food was outstandingly delicious! They know their schnitzel. I even liked their sweet brown bread and mixed berry butter, even though I'm not a bread guy. Portions are Texas-sized, well worth the price, and you should not leave feeling hungry. For dessert, the apple strudel is on the less sweet side, while the Black Forrest cake is sweater but light and fluffy. I've been to some fantastic German restaurants in Texas before, and this is one of the best! I will be back!

What an amazing German restaurant! Took the family here and we had so much fun! Tiffany was our main server and she was great! The food was really really good! I highly recommend the Jalapeño Schnitzel. Also, the potato latkes are great! Oh, the Hungarian Goulash is superb…it was all great! There’s a good beer menu and the food menu is large. We went on a Sat for lunch and there was no wait. We will be back for sure!

Decided to try some German food with a client. Service had a little bit of communication issue of what we wanted and when we got it but food was good indeed.

We went there on Wednesday night. They have live music and buffet on Wednesday night. We have fun there. The food reminds me when the time I traveled in Germany and Austria. I didn’t order other items, but I saw people ordering different dishes and the portion was big. I saw people were there having fun and drinking beer. It’s such a wonderful place to have dinner and have a drink. I love the apple pie there. Recommend for enjoying a night there.

We were warmly greeted on arrival. The food was delicious and authentic; the Wiener schnitzel was close to what we’ve had in Germany, and there were several interesting schnitzel varieties on the menu. The spaetzle was very good, but garlicky. Salad bar was nicely presented, enclosed, clean, and with good choices. The apple strudel was outstanding and a huge portion, plenty for a couple to split.

Recently learned of this place and it's Wednesday night buffet so wanted to try it. Made reservations the day before with hostess Amber and she was extremely helpful. Arrived early and met Amber and another lady at the door who was really nice. The atmosphere was great and sat next to the live music. The food was pretty good with some items better than others. The wait staff was not the friendliest but they got the job done. Crowd was very diverse from older couples to young families. The musician, hostess and atmosphere made the visit memorable. Overall, a good experience.

The overall experience was okay for us. Server was very nice, but forgot stuff. Literally didn't eat appetizers because main came before it. The music can be very loud here so be cautious. I had to wear my earbuds to limit the sound. I understand it's for entertainment, but can be very annoying (especially the hardcore clapping after section played). As for food, was nice but seemed to be lacking seasoning. So polite employees, okay service, okay food and below par environment for eating. More of a bar.

I've been visiting this restaurant at this location for many, many years. Aside from warm and inviting waitstaff, this restaurant has my favorite Rueben sandwich, chicken schnitzel, and potato pancakes. It seems they have renovated the interior a bit, which I didn't think was needed but nice. They're menu seems to have gotten more extensive, which is also nice. A definite favorite and go to place for lunch!

My dining our club FEAST visited a few weeks ago on a Saturday. The service was very friendly and out server was great about explaining the dishes. I personally am not a fan of German food but everyone else really loved what they had for dinner. I personally really liked the zuchinni bread they serve to the table. There was live music and that was a lot of fun. If you like schnitzel and saurkraut and fun music, give a try!

First time at Rudi Lechner's and it did not disappoint. I've been wanting to try it for years and finally made the 45 minute drive from north of Houston and it was worth it. I've had authentic schnitzel in Vienna and Rudi Lechner's was perfect. I had the pork and the boyfriend had the chicken. Both were fork tender and very good. The red cabbage and sour kraut were very tasty. Nice selection of beers which were very cold. Everything was great. The service was excellent and they really made us feel welcome. We are definitely going back really soon.

I have fond memories of Rudi Lechner's. I went there almost weekly when I first moved to Houston in 1991. My office was just down the street. When we saw they offered a buffet one night a week, I was excited to return. . 30 years later, the magic was gone. The excellent salad bar that I remembered with magical sweet rye croutons is now merely serviceable as a side to the buffet. . Speaking of which, the buffet was okay. The sauerkraut and cabbage rolls were the highlight. The schnitzel was there, a sad comparison to what I remembered and a mere echo of the schnitzel I love from a dang food truck. I mean..! . The original live music act was a no show, but the replacement artist really was fantastic. . We saw many guests greeting each other, so there is clearly a community of loyal customers that love the place and each other. That speaks to a quality that we didn't witness. Perhaps the buffet night isn't the proper choice to see the best of Rudi Lechner's. . It's been thirty years since I last visited. It will likely be 30 more before I visit again.

I used to eat here occasionally when I worked in the area but hadn't been back in years until recently, and I'm glad to say that the quality and portion sizes haven't changed. I came for early dinner on a weekday and ate outdoors here for the first time, which had a nice setup with a thick curtain at the sides and overhead so that it didn't get too hot or bright. The bread/butter service was delicious, and I had a great reuben sandwich with fries. There were plenty of leftovers to take home for a separate meal. The atmosphere might come off as cheesy to some people (waitresses dress in the traditional dirndl you'd see at Oktoberfest celebrations) but I love it. When I ate at the traditional German buffet restaurant at Epcot Center in Walt Disney World, it felt like a poor imitation of Rudi Lechner's. This is a great hangout for a casual dinner with friends. Very prompt and attentive wait staff here too (shoutout to Tim).

We never get tired of this place! The staff are delightful and attentive to what we need...nothing is too much trouble. We had a great dinner and got to enjoy live music. Our table enjoyed the warm pretzel appetizer as well as the assorted sausage appetizer. Both were delicious. Our entrees included the Hungarian goulash, chicken schnitzel, the Paris schnitzel and the schnitzel "Balkan". We enjoyed side dishes of Austrian potatoes, spaetzle, and sauerkraut. We look forward to our next visit.

Ordered the schweinshaxe (called ahead of time). Well cooked, not overcooked like most. The curry wurst was great, but considering i was there with just my fiance and i, we 100% ordered toob much food! Great service and the live music was wonderful.

Very nice staff and the food was good. There was also a salad buffet which covers a lot of good traditional dishes. We will definately come back again.

The place is absolutely gorgeous and very familiar, we went with a reservation and it was really packed. Friday there's live music which is even better. The attention was amazing and the food even better. I personally started with the German coffee with brandy, good Lord is exquisite, I had the cabbage rolls and they are really good. I love the fact that you can't tell from the outside how warm and welcoming it is when you get inside. 100% recommended and we definitely gonna come back. Ohh for Oktoberfest definitely the beer 🍺 is AMAZING!!!

This well established eatery has been a family favorite for over 20 years. We had mother's day 2022 here and it was a delicious brunch with all the great German/Austrian favorites! The food is still great, after 20 years, I still love coming here. They have added an outdoor patio and updated their dining room.. They have special menu items and live authentic music every week, some of the great German beers.. it's just a great time to be had here.. they have happy hour! Come by and enjoy and make this one of your favorite spots in Houston!

Just got home from our visit. My wife, who has accompanied me to several German resturants has stated, " This is the first German resturant you have taken me to that I like." The service from the very pleasent lady who seated us to the fine waiter who served us was excellent. The food was delicious and servered quite quickly. I believe the staff we interacted with were German (Deutch) from their accents. The buiding was in excellent shape and the interior was also. The bathroom was spotless. I can say, without hesitation that the next time we are in Houston we will return. Sehr gut.

Walked in and was greeted immediately. We were seated right away and informed live music would be provided. There were three of us and we ordered Sliced Sausages for an appetizer as well as potato cakes. A platter of sweet bread and white bread was served immediately. The sweet bread was amazing. We got a second platter along with our appetizers. The sausages were served on a bed of sauerkraut and pickles. The potato cakes came with sour cream and applesauce. We all took a trip to the salad bar. It was fairly typical with several options including a German potato salad and a carrot salad. The music started while we were eating our salads. The crowd applauded and also sang along with several numbers. My companions ordered the veal Wiener Schnitzel while I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We all ordered Austrian Potatoes. Two of us ordered Sauerkraut, and the other ordered Ted Cabbage. The food was great! The Schnitzels were all perfect, as were the potatoes. The Sauerkraut was perhaps the best I’ve ever had, with a light touch of sweetness. It reminded me of my mother’s homemade sauerkraut from my childhood. We were all stuffed, but having a great time. The server checked to make sure we had everything we needed. We decided to try the deserts. The German Chocolate Cake was delicious. The Streudel was cooked to perfection and we had a slice of ice cream with it. This is a great place to meet with friends or family. The employees were attentive and friendly. The other diners were friendly without being intrusive. Everyone was there to relax and enjoy a good meal, which is exactly what was provided in a very fun atmosphere with some good entertainment.

Food is so delicious and we love the salad bar and beer flight! Servers are so welcoming and friendly. Most recently had the opportunity to enroll in their rewards program and cannot wait to visit more often.
