I'm honestly surprised at how many people love this place in the reviews. And how many would bring their children there. If I could give 0 stars I would. I will say, there are a few things that are visually striking and fun to look at, but those do not outweigh the bad. I'm never the type of person who feels like a place is dark/scary/dangerous, I usually am a positive person and expect the best in people/places. Seriously, not much gets to me. But this place gave me the serious creeps. Towards the end of touring around, I felt like I was suffocating and couldn't breathe. I couldn't get rid of the feeling for at least an hour after leaving (and I know it wasn't a health issue). I'm all for whimsical and creativity, but the combination of weird clowns and mannequins and borderline demonic worship of oranges, I felt like I was in a horror movie. (Not to mention whatever that scraggly, leathery whip looking thing was)

We enjoyed this little place a lot. It was fun to explore and see all the different weird things that were a part of it. It was a little smaller than we had hoped but it was pretty cool.

Got very lucky and was able to get some tickets to go finally see what this was all about. My family and I enjoyed art a lot and love to check out awesome places. Not very big but so many things to look at while there! They even have a fun little scavenger hunt to play while there. Definitely a fun thing to check out if you have never gone to see it! A lot of love and work was put into this place.

As far as Orange Shows go, this one is the best one I've been to and heard about. Mysticism, love, and vitamin C abound. Visit the original before the magic is...well, restored magic. Seriously, I haven't eaten an orange in years. Then, I came to the 🍊 show. Now, I must consume more oranges...ever more 🧡

You have to come to this place with heart and soul of a happy child. Every corner of this place puts a smile in my face. It was not the most beautiful architecture, not well preserved or maintained but it takes to another world. It's small in space but large in your eyes. It makes me wonder what was the thought of the owner when he created this? What does the color orange means to him? What does circus means to him? Did he come here to escape the mundane of our daily life? Did he wants to build something for others or for his own enjoyment?

Another GREAT class led by a wonderful group of supportive and encouraging instructors walking the students step by step through the process of sculpting foam and sealing the finished pieces in preparation for final painting and decorating. An array of supplies and tools were available for us to use to create our own masterpieces. I am so looking forward to the new class this weekend. I’m bringing my Sweetheart this time, for a ‘date day’ of creative expression! An added bonus was a visit by a group of incredibly turned-out art cars!!

We had an amazing time at The Orange Show!! The staff was awesome and gave us a run down of the orange show’s history. We had so much fun doing a photoshoot there too (photo credit Abisai Photography) 5 stars. Recommend!

My grandma lives right next door. So I grew up coming here on the weekends. I always had fun looking at the art. It also inspired me to become the artistic person I am today. My cousins and I would have little "adventures" here. They also occasionally have seasonal events for Christmas, Easter and Halloween. You can also rent it out for parties. If you love art this is a nice place to come to. Unfortunately they're under restoration and won't be reopening until March 2nd,2019.

It is the greatest show on earth. Better than Disneyworld & Grand Canyon combined

It’s a nice place to visit although it is going to close down in a couple weeks for 2-3 years for maintenance and the little museum they have is close for restoration but yea it will come back once there aren’t as many safety hazards but it is a nice little thing to explore a part of history

Best views require taking stairs that are DESPERATELY in need of repair, this place seems unsafe and I was afraid I would fall, and my child did trip on some of the steep, unlevel, unmaintained steps. How a place managed by somewhere that supports other new projects can be in such miserable state is beyond me, but I acknowledge that a monumental effort and passion (which shows) was put into the creation of this place to begin with. Worth the 5 dollars entry fee at most. Just go to the park next door.

This is a funky place in Houston on Munger street called The Orange Show. A cool collection stuff, lots of interesting stuff to read. And next door Smithers Park. A couple of blocks of sensory overload! Definitely worth a visit.

This has been a lifelong favorite establishment of mine. I remember visiting on a school trip in elementary, then as an adult participated in a couple events — a paid art class and a free Christmas open house where they had tamales, crafts, and music. It was awesome. It’s one of Houston’s hidden art gems and people should experience it at least once.

This place sent Draka the iconic dragon art car, born at Burningman, off to be scrapped without notifying the artist/owner of the piece! Artists beware when dealing with this organization and their unconscionable actions! Your property could be destroyed next!

The park offers a great photo opportunity for graduations, weddings, birthdays, or simply for instagram. The park is constantly changing and more art is added over time. Definitely worth seeing!

So interesting! So charming! You might want to visit in cooler weather than we did. Also, parking is a little tight, be sure to respect the residents' signs. Great public park with Mosaic art just up the street, include that in your visit.

Wheel chairs may struggle to access certain areas. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore and that concentrated local artist orange flavor to brighten your day with novelty. Go to their website to catch whatever they're holding to the light that day. If you've never been, you may come in on the opposite side of where the entrance to the outdoor stage area is. No worries, just drive across the sometimes empty field where they park the art cars when they're showcasing them. There will be a wooden spiral hut on the end where you need to be to get to the outdoor stage.

It's a quirky Houston landmark that reminds me of the Watts Towers in LA in terms of intent and construction, but doesn't possess its grandeur. If you have time, it's worth checking out. Google maps struggled to get me there; I made a lot of uturns to find it.

Home of the Houston Art Car Parade, 36 years strong. Go and see some of the permanent exhibit on the grounds. Smother park is a mural collaboration from many local artists. The monument is a true folk art environment.

Eclectic artwork and very curious exhibit. We had so much fun looking at all of the creativity that went into the collection. Every piece was thoughtfully placed.

The Orange Show is a folk art hand made building structure that hosts events and has an archive of these art and music performances. Hosts the Art Car Ball. Very cool event!

This place would be better if they bears and monkeys doing shows. Clowns would be nice and maybe a few oranges. I mean the place advertises oranges.

It's a neat space! Went to the warehouse, would say it's like technically a covered outdoor space if you wanna know what to expect. Didnt have a chance to go yo yhe museum but will come back for it

EVERYTHING about it was amazing. Really like his taste in art. The scavenger hunt was so much fun. 🤡

This is a funny place to visit. The website is a little misleading- no guided tour given. I wonder what is the wooden art behind the fence.

Very interesting little art maze like thing. Scavenger hunt was fun. Definitely reccomend checking out the mosaic park next to it.

Stating that this is an organization committed to preserving visionary art is false. Fact. The new director decided to have "Draka" the creation and property of artist Lisa Nigro' removed and scrapped to a salvage yard without her knowledge or consent. It was wrong, extremely disrespectful and there IS no excuse to have not contacted her so that she could have removed it herself! I have no interest in supporting this organization in the future.

The Orange Show was fantastic. I really enjoyed the history behind it and the information on the founder. Everyone should really visit Smither Park which is next door to the Orange Show. It shows artist work and it is phenomenal. You have to see it to believe it. Beautiful artistic work!
