Nice place to stay with friendly staff willing to assist. Indoor gym with plenty of exercise equipment. A spectacular view from the outdoor lounge. Swimming pool and hot tub in lounge area. A restaurant within the hotel with excellent food and drinks. Right in downtown near plenty of restaurants. The bed was med firm and bedding was adequate to stay comfortable. A nice desk with tempered glass overlay to perform work or writing. Decent wifi to perform business on. Very large oval tub to soak in after a long day. K cup coffee maker in room to wake yourself up. Nice lounge area in lobby to relax while you wait for other guests. Would recommend and stay again.

I am incredibly disappointed with the service at this hotel. DO NOT MAKE A MISTAKE if you’re going to book here. I booked using my Chase credit card points and accidentally did it for the wrong night. The hotel was immovable at making it right. They would not help us, so I am out $170 without even so much as an offer to shift the date I would stay. There was zero empathy or flexibility and I am really dissatisfied with the lack of humanity and flexibility of this mega corporation.

I had an odd stay at this hotel. I came in on a Friday evening for check in and was told there were hardly any rooms available although I had checked in online. The lady at the front desk took my ID to check me in but still checked me in under incorrect name. When she stated I had a king bed I told her no that's the incorrect reservation. She then corrected her mistake. With my gold Elite status I was still placed on a lower floor with loud neighboring suite. The lights in the bathroom were broken. Weird tub to get in and out of. Room itself was decent. The room service I ordered came pre packaged with no tray for my food or coffee. It was handed to me at the door. I will not be staying here again. I expected better service considering its a 4 diamond hotel

Stayed here last night and I must say customer service was awesome!!! Valet at check in and check out were very courteous and knowledgeable. Northern at the front desk was so welcoming and greeted us like family. The complimentary cookies and milk in the front lobby between 8-10pm really hit the spot too!!! Northern said he would make our stay a good one and he did just that. The only thing after that great night’s sleep in that comfy bed, we did want to leave.😊

This hotel appeared just okay for a 4 star boutique hotel. It’s clean but aren’t all the hotels, I mean mostly. Nothing above and beyond. I always opt for a room with kitchenette as I travel with my toddler. I booked a room with a kitchen here too. had to request them to provide me pots and pans and utensils and dishes, basically every single thing that I needed in the kitchen. I was given a box full of pots and pans and dishes and when I opened the box everything was dirty to the extent that there was still oil and gravy in the pans and on the spoons. Someone picked them from a sink and put them in the box, without washing, it seemed! It was literally the grossest thing I had seen a while. This definitely overshadowed my entire stay. So if you are going to use the kitchen, don’t forget to bring your own everything!

The Magnolia is the best place to stay for a staycation. It has a unique atmosphere that's classy without being old. The rooms are very generously sized. The top of the building pool and hot tub is my favorite. Great view of Minute Maid Stadium. The restaurant, The Dispatch, has wonderful, caring servers and fabulous food, and reasonable prices too. Lots of other restaurants just a block away on all sides. The only thing I don't care for is the parking is only valet and it's $53 per night. There are other, cheaper options not too far away as low as $15.

Overall the experience was great. The staff were attentive and helpful upon arrival and when we reached out to them. The lobby was super clean and the bar/restaurant were as well. The drink weren’t too overpriced and the food too. However the reason why I didn’t give 5 stars was the room I was in. The TV in my room needs to be updated especially when you are staying at a higher end Marriott. Also the bathroom caulking needs attention as well. As upon arrival I noticed damage to some of the fixtures in the room. Finally, when we ordered room service and we were given the wrong wine than what we ordered (we ordered a white and they brought a red). We explained to the gentleman who delivered it and showed him on the menu what we would like. When he came back up he brought a different and more expensive bottle then what we asked for again and basically told us they didn’t have what we wanted without actually saying that. Overall however I was happy with my experience and would return in the future. Hopefully by then they have fixed the problems.

We stayed for a weekend to watch a game at Minute Maid, and loved the walking distance to the game. The rooms are large, and the bed was very comfortable! We chose not to use the hotel’s valet service, but instead parked in the parking garage connected to Magnolia, and the cost was only $15 (which beats $40 for valet!) Towards the end of our stay, we went up to the rooftop pool, and the view was incredible. The feel of this hotel is definitely worth the price. Next time we’re in Houston, we will be staying here again!

Very nice Hotel, we had a pleasant stay. Rooms were clean and spacious. Rooftop pool has a spectacular view. Gym is above average. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Nice touch to have complimentary freshly baked cookies and milk every night. Will come again if we're staying downtown. Only slight downside are the homeless people around the corner, but the hotel can't really do anything about that. It's downtown...

Absolutely loved my stay here for my first visit to Houston. The staff is very accommodating, special mention to Northern, Kennedy and the gentleman bartender! Hotel is in such a great location restaurants and a great coffee place all walking distance about 1 block away. Cleanliness was excellent and hotel was quiet and pleasant. My favorite part was the rooftop pool with an amazing view of the city. Will definitely be returning.

Everything about our stay has been excellent. The front desk was very thorough and informative when we checked in. The room was big, elegant, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and had a big tub/shower. Breakfast buffet was good, had all the standard fare. We had a great time at the bar and received outstanding service from Ryan the bartender. Would definitely come back to this hotel.

Excellent downtown location. The property is about 4 or 5 blocks from Minute Maid Park. The hotel is well maintained and very clean both exterior and interior. My room was a nice size, comfortable bed, nice linens and towels. The pillows weren't very good. They were lumpy. The customer service from the valet to the front desk staff was exceptional. There are several restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is a historical sight so the rooms are solid and very quiet. I never heard any noise from the surrounding rooms or from above as you often do in new builds. This property is a true full service hotel with the wonderful Marriott Hospitality that Marriott is known for.

Lovely hotel in the Houston area! The reception was extremely friendly to us, great restaurant and room, yummy free cookies, and the location was great! The food from their restaurant on the 2nd floor was delicious. The room was a good size with the beds were very comfortable and the views were nice from the rooftop pool. Parking was easy, and the elevators were also in a good condition. Highly recommend staying here in Downtown Houston!

Great hotel! Stylish and very clean! They do fun activities and photo ops at the lobby every day! Parking was a bit complicated. They have a valet service but I found $59 expensive, so I parked on the street but needed to feed the meter every so often. Def will be coming back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this very thoughtfully appointed hotel. I enjoy staying in boutique hotels like this, especially buildings with character like this one. This hotel has valet parking only at the sum of about $39 a night which is not too terrible for downtown Houston. The parking garage is located very close by if you need to go to your car to grab something. I enjoyed the convenience of Marriott's mobile check-in and the ability to have a digital hotel key which prevented me from having to get new keys and I left my keys up in the room. The staff were very kind and friendly and we're very responsive using the chat feature on the app. They allowed me to check in early and check out late since The conference I was in town for ran a little late. The hotel itself was very nicely appointed and I found the rooms to be very comfortable and luxurious. I like to sleep in almost complete darkness and I found that the blackout curtains in the room did their jobs very nicely despite all of the lights of the city. I really enjoyed the large soaking tub that I used all three nights I was there. The milk and cookies in the lobby starting at 8:00 p.m. is an extra nice touch and that too I utilized all three nights I was there. The rooftop pool was small and is only about 3 ft deep. The hot tub is a nice addition, but That's more of a warm tub and the jets were a bit weak which was my only complaint about my entire stay. I enjoyed the location and it's proximity to lots of different things downtown including the nearby convention center (about a 10 minute walk) as well as lots of different restaurants and a CVS pharmacy if you run out of supplies. The Hotel itself is in a pretty decent part of town and I felt very safe walking around in the night time hour. I would definitely return and stay at this charming hotel again.

We had an amazing time at the Magnolia. Everything is beautifully appointed, the staff were friendly and attentive, the room was great and the bed was comfortable. The roof offers gorgeous views - I recommend taking a beverage up there to hang out for a bit. I loved my interactions with Northon Holiday who made me feel welcomed and important as well as being incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I look forward to staying again and sending others as well!

top notch valet crew. we checked out on a sunday at 11 and they were slammed.. but their process was efficient and always kept you updated on their progress on getting dozens of people’s cars. it’s pricey, at $45 but oh well, it’s downtown. it took about 30 minutes to get our car- was no problem for us, but just anticipate that if you happen to be checking out on a busy day like sunday right at check out time. we stayed here for a show at the bayou music center and it’s an easy straight-shot walk to the venue. hotel is nice and room was comfortable. bed is a little on the firm side, but not bad. water pressure in the shower is great! also impressed with the bartender while we sat at the district for a couple drinks before our show (wish i remembered his name). he was attentive and cared about the drinks he made (i overheard someone order a drink off the menu and he looked up the recipe and replicated it as best he could with what the bar had). we got upgraded to a king suite (? i believe) and it had a kitchenette

Quaint, Historical looking building with cool lobby. The interiors are little worn out, but not bad place. Slightly expensive to stay, EXTREMELY expensive for Valet Parking. Internet was really bad in the room itself - had to use my phone.

Really nice hotel in the heart of downtown Houston TX. I stayed there for two weeks for work. Very convenient location to everything downtown. Easy walk to main street, Minute Maid park, and other downtown attractions. ALL the staff I encountered were attentive kind and helpful all the way to the cleaning staff. I tried the on-site restaurant and bar. Recommend the fish tacos. Then take it to the rooftop pool for awesome views and relaxation.

I read the reviews and i was unsure how this hotel would be. This hotel is old but clean and swanky. The staff was very attentive. I received free breakfast coupons as my platinum gift. The restaurant was pricy for dinner and drinks but it was good. Overall, i would stay here again

Had a wonderful stay at the Magnolia Hotel while I was waiting out some renovations at my house. Everyone from the valet to reception was very welcoming and friendly. Best of all, the hotel is dog friendly (no fees either!). Please note, however, that if you need a desk in your room, it's best to call in advance to request one because not all of the rooms have desks despite the pictures online. WiFi worked great for me in the lobby and in the hotel room though. Thanks for a great experience, Magnolia!

The rooms here are great and very clean. My complaint would be the fitness center. They have 3 treadmills and all were out of order. There no fans and even though they had a water dispenser, they had no cups. I did report it and hopefully will correct the issues.

I had a chance to visit this location while attending The Reunion Concert at the Toyota Center. It was my first visit to Houston. Great location and service by the front desk and valet staff. A huge shout out to Northern for going above and beyond to accommodate my friend and I with the room change to experience an amazing view of the area. Although our first room was nicer and larger, the view from our room change was worth the change. I plan to return to this location in the future when visiting Houston.

Great little hotel. I have no complaints. Oh wait…….just 1. Wish they had a microwave in the room. We brought an air fryer. Haha. I’d be happy to stay there again.

  • 3/5 MCH 4 months ago on Google
The positives include location (if you want to stay downtown), the free cookies and delicious cookies at reception and some of the friendly staff. The negatives are the dysfunctional gym where all treadmills were broken for the duration of the week, dated equipment, barely any weights; a lady staff member at front desk who was exceptionally rude for no reason; and generally a dated hotel in need of an upgrade.

Nice rooms. But they closed the bar and restaurant 3 of the 4 nights I was here for private parties. Annoying that you can’t meet coworkers for a drink after the conference. They shouldn’t advertise services that they regularly close. Also not a fan of the Pepsi products only. Diet Pepsi is NOT Diet Coke! Overall disappointing stay.

Horrible Hotel Service & Horrible Valet Service!! I had my vehicle parked with the valet here on 11/05/2023. When I came back to get my vehicle, it was already at the front of the hotel when I hadn't even asked for my car yet. When i was going to the front to ask for my keys, the valet attendant tells me that there was an accident and someone hit my car. I was told that they are not responsible for the damages because this hotel only has basic coverage when it comes to their valet. Do not come here if you want to have your car damaged and be told that they are not responsible. The hotel said they would not do anything about it.

was here to stay a couple nights for a friend's wedding (the reception was held here) and the stay was pretty enjoyable. rooms are clean, pretty big, with nice views of Houston. valet is pretty expensive but I'm not used to staying at fancy hotels so maybe $45 a day is normal for valet parking in a city (the parking lot across the street is $16 a day or something, nice & secure as well)

First the good. The check in was a breeze and the attendant was friendly and courteous. My room decor was updated, clean and quite large. Hallways were too nicely updated and spacious. The bed was comfortable and many wall plugs and USB ports for charging everything conveniently. Chairs are also comfy and wifi strong. now the not so good. the windows were old and not possible to even crack open. their installation or repairs must have been made in extreme hurry. they looked bad and quite out of place. the room temperature was controllable easily, but a bit humid. the gym wasn't appealing and smelly. the breakfast options were limited and service and food were not what they should have been.I have to say the elevators both in the morning and evening were as slow as I've ever seen anywhere. with 3 of them, I have to assume there is a software or calibration issue. a spare plastic bag left in the room would have saved me a trip down to the lobby.given the nightly rate, it's quite acceptable and although not a place to look forward to coming back to, I'll consider it for the right price.

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your hotel. This website will compare thousands of booking websites and normally will have rates a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the most well known in the area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you stay for a few nights you definitely won't be disappointed. We had our wedding in the area, and had a hotel block at this hotel. Overall, we had a very positive experience. Tracy Vines was the Group Sales Manager who was in contact with us throughout the process. She was extremely accommodating and prompt in her responses. I've never had such amazing customer service from a hotel. She is fantastic. The Valet people were quick and polite, and the front desk people were professional. We had a few guests with minor issues with their rooms. But the staff was quick to correct this, and apologetic. My now-husband and I were given complimentary drinks at the hotel bar. The bartenders and waitresses were wonderful. We had drinks and food at the hotel restaurant several times throughout our stay and were not disappointed! Food, drinks, and service were wonderful! The breakfast buffet had a decent amount of variety. We had a lot of wedding decor items that we needed help bringing to our room. We are so appreciative of the staff going above and beyond to assist with this. We are beyond happy with our experience here and look forward to our next stay.

These reviews did not match my experience at all and I could not have been more disappointed. I'm an elite bonvoy member, travel often, and rarely have a poor hotel experience. Considering this hotel had nice reviews and great ratings within the bonvoy system, I figured this would easily be a great experience. It was anything but a good experience. The check-in staff just did not want to be at work. They were unnecessarily rude to a point I even looked around to make sure I wasn't being filmed for a prank show or something. There was never milk and cookies. The pool was closed. The beds and pillows were, like the check-in process, unbelievably uncomfortable. Not uncomfortable like too plush or too firm, uncomfortable like lumpy and old. The hotel building is from 1926, apparently the bed was too. I did not eat there. The restaurant looked nice enough though. Yes, the location is good if you have to stay downtown but there are many great neighborhoods in Houston to choose from. I've stayed at lower rated hotels in downtown Houston that should have been rated 4 stars, then I stay here and it should be a 2 star rated hotel. Travelers beware. I do not recommend this hotel if you have to stay in Downton Houston. Also after writing this review I found pending duplicate charges from the hotel. Hopefully the charges won't clear my credit card, but the staff mistakenly charged me hundreds.

After having a rocky start to our trip, by having our car broken into and some belongings stolen within the first 2 hours of being in Houston. The hospitality at this hotel was MAGNIFICENT to say the least. The hotel staff was so accommodating and empathic to our situation and was so genuinely sweet. The Southern Hospitality runs DEEP here. The entire staff is AMAZING!!! The Rooms are just as nice as the staff, although we didn’t have much of a view from our room, there was a beautiful rooftop pool with a view of the city. The fitness center was also good, it was under renovation during the time of our stay, however I was able to get a few great workout in. Would definitely stay at this hotel again, if I ever come back to Houston.

Not only is the location of this hotel perfect and near anything but the inside is just another experience. 5-star sleeping experience at a 1-star price. From the beginning of our stay to the end the staff was exceptional. The front desk attendant Dennis who greeted us really nice that cold and rainy night to the staff at breakfast who were so attentive to our needs. The room had an amazing view and detail were wonderful. The whole building was super clean. We count the days we go back and stay here again. Thank you Magnolia staff.

I had an awesome stay here. The location is good. I loved how the hotel lobby and bar was decorated, and the staff was pleasant. Northon H + Kennedy made check in memorable and a breeze for me. The lounge/bar was also staffed with great and friendly people (near closing time) and had great customer service. This was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Will book again for sure!

This place is such a beautiful, historical place and my husband and I love staying here! The staff is the epitome of professionalism and yet are very friendly and warm. Alex, the valet, goes above and beyond every time we see him and he is very helpful at pointing out places to eat, and to visit. Rogelio went above and beyond the other day at breakfast when our friends joined us with their child who has special needs and just released from Texas Children’s Hospital. He waited for them to arrive even though they were technically done serving. He made everyone feel welcome and accommodated and we truly appreciate his efforts!

The waitstaff in the Lounge is super friendly! To me that means a lot because after a long day of traveling, it’s nice to see a friendly face! The interior is super stylish, and I loved the windows in the room. Very comfortable stay despite being woken by a fire alarm 😅

Valet parking upon check out very very slow.approx 40 min to get my car that was parked behind the hotel and attendance given plenty of time to retrieve my vehicle. Rooms nice but bathroom.door should open out and not in due to limited room with door open. Beds were right next to door. Nice location for Astros game and Catholic church down the street. Restaurant's close by also.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Magnolia! My room was clean, quiet, and the bed was so comfy. The service was amazing! Everyone was so kind and helpful. I ate at the on-site restaurant 3 times and the food was great each time. There are also lots of really good restaurants within walking distance. I would absolutely recommend staying here!

For such a nice hotel downtown, I am so disappointed! The elevators didn't work, good luck with the stairs from 20th floor. 1 of 3 elevators where powered up and it only took you up and would not stop to take you back down. The staff acted suprised when told of the issue...that had been going on for the entire a week. That should have been communicated at checking. The hot water is a joke. The toilet didn't want to flush half the time due to water pressure issues. To top it all off when the front desk was notified off all of the issues, they didn't even bother to appologize for the issues or offer to compensate us for all of the issues. The only saving grace was the valet service was so nice and the bar staff was on point. Worst Marriott property I've stayed at to date. Its sad because the location is great and the public areas look great buy the maintenance and service is terrible.

A very nice hotel with an excellent costumer service orientation. Room were big enough for us 2 adults and 2 kids. Great top view around a downtown from the roof top. Any staff we made contact were very very kind and helpful. They really made our stay very enjoyable. A very big thank to all employees for their kindness and professionalism.

Fresh cookies and milk in the lobby at night, giant bathtub in each room, and a rooftop pool connected to the gym… need I say more?! Great spot to stay for a business trip, walkable to the convention center which is what brought me to Houston. Would stay again!

Very convenient. Nice rooms and loved the rooftop pool & hot tub. Morning breakfast options and table service get an A plus. The Dispatch (hotel restaurant) is a perfect choice for dinner. The steaks are cooked really well and their wings are very good!!!

Historic old newspaper building converted into a hotel conveniently located in downtown Houston. The pool on the 23rd floor is small but has a great view and a good number of chairs and some cabanas to lounge. My spacious king studio room had a nice view of the city with a Texas antique chic vibe.

I have a corner suite and it's a lovely room. It's very clean. The halls are quiet. The water pressure is AWESOME and the water never grows cold. There are a few issues...very few...such as the cold water faucet at the sink being so tight I almost can't turn on the water. Also, the vanity area has a lighted magnifying mirror that is plugged in but doesn't work. And the tub/shower is a bit dangerous. It's shaped like a bowl and the enter/exit routine is difficult for me though maybe not everyone. (But once you're in, that shower is a vacation by itself!) Overall, the cons are overtaken by the pros. I would stay here again. It's a great place and the staff is wonderfully friendly. I highly recommend!

From start to finish this hotel is amazing! Front desk agent Aileen went above and beyond in selecting a super clean well appointed suite for me. It was Valentines Day and she ensured my room was setup to perfection! The entire hotel is spotlessly clean with great decor and very classy and upscale ambiance. Restaurant and bar is very high caliber, drinks were amazing. Morning breakfast tastes like home cooked breakfast, very fresh and friendly staff with A-1 customer service…one of the best Marriotts I’ve stayed at, and I usually book 25-30 times a year.
