Pros: the location is in beautiful city centre with nice restaurants and shops close by. Even memorial city mall only a short 5 minute drive. The view from our room was very nice overseeing the shopping strip. The staff in the front were friendly and polite. CONS: This “4 star hotel” needs updates fast! Our room has an unfinished paint job, messy drywall repairs, the carpet wasn’t installed properly, poor paint job throughout the room where there should be sharp lines at the very least, clear signs or mold/mildew growth in the shower along with what looks to be a poor tile installation where you can see where the spacers were. Towel hook looked to be installed like a messy silicone job. A couple other scuffs, damage on certain things that haven’t been addressed as well. For what they charge per night on top of the resort fee, I would expect a lot better. I have stayed 3 star best westerns & Marriott’s better than this place. Advice to owner/management is to invest in the upkeep and maintenance of the rooms more.

We have been working with the Moran for the last year - blocking a group of rooms for a family wedding. We ended up booking about 25 rooms and a brunch on Sunday morning in the ballroom on property. The group sales office was very good to work with and were very helpful in the planning process. The location of the Moran - close proximity to a variety of restaurants, bars and shops - was very convenient for our group and gave people options. The staff was amazing - very friendly and responsive to all of our needs or concerns. We were initially concerned about the parking situation in the garage, but valet attendants were very helpful with our guests to help them unload and figure out the best parking options! Staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful! It turned out to be the perfect option for our group.

The room was ok at best. The bed was uncomfortable and lumpy. There was a whole in the ceiling and cracks in the sink. It took 20 minutes for the water to warm up. The hallways were dirty. The bartenders in fire side had to look up drink recipes. The complimentary breakfast was not complimentary, you had to order meat a la cart. The pool was very small unlike the inviting pictures online. I paid for 2 nights for a stay cation but only stayed one night. Valet was rude and didn't know which car was mine. For the price of everything and the service received I definitely won't be back.

Hotel itself is good, however breakfast has been poor last few times. The included breakfast is very same same with items listed as included but not put out. Waffle station now takes an age during busy times and you are not left with a lot of options unless you pay extra. For the room rate you would think a hot buffet type breakfast could be provided. Ended up going elsewhere for breakfast to break the monotonous exercise. Room servicing is good and clean, however failed to replenish coffee and milk on numerous occasions. Asked for a quiet room due to work commitments, lady at the desk put me on a low floor and above the neighbouring bar. Don't figure. Noise has woken me a few nights, but I learnt previously not to complain as they don't respond. Unfortunately not my choice to stay, its company mandated. But location is excellent for evening activities.

We were extremely disappointed with our stay. The front desk was literally no help during our weekend stay. In my opinion, someone was having a bad day, or they just simply couldn't be bothered with a simple question. The pool looks nothing like the online photos. The canopies are long gone. The only way to get luggage to your room is to valet. The room was run down and had 2 broken appliances in it. The shower takes at the least 15-20 to get warm, so forget a quick warm shower. The location and everything else, was amazing. There were so may good restaurants and bars near by. Fireside was amazing, too. Personally, for a "higher end" Hotel, I was completely unimpressed. We will not be returning.

We had our wedding room block at the Moran in City Centre. Setting everything up was very easy, and Jazmyn was very helpful in ensuring that everything was ready prior to us arriving. My wife stayed in the Presidential Suite and got ready there with her Bridesmaids on the morning of our wedding. I stayed in a junior suite and my best man stayed in an adjoining junior suite so we were able to open the doors between the rooms and share the space while we got ready before the wedding. This gave us a lot more room to spread out. We chose this hotel as the location was perfect. Being in City Centre gave our out of town guests easy access to restaurants, bars, and shopping within walking distance. It was also a great halfway point between our ceremony (West Houston) and reception (The Heights). Would absolutely recommend The Moran for your hotel room blocks!

I really wanted to like this place. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, the view and the free parking. We had to call the front desk three times the first night and we checked in after 10pm. Firstly, we reserved the room specifically for three people. The third person slept on the sofa but there was no additional linens or blankets in the room so we called to get those brought to us. Secondly, the shower water was cold. We each got tepid to cold showers. The front desk told us to let it run for a bit and sent someone to check the boiler. However, I really think it just takes 30 minutes for the water to get hot. That should not be the solution right? Thirdly, as each room has a shared door to the next room, the walls felt very thin. Our neighbor was so loud on her phone talking about drunk friends and such at almost 3am. We had to call the front desk to tell them to be quiet. The staff was very responsive and helpful with every request. Outside of that first night experience, the room was really outdated, worn and simply boring. The bed and sofa, linens and pillows were nice. However, the floors, colors, furniture, curtains, everything else was just old, drab, worn, chipped, dented or blah. It must have been a beautiful hotel 15-20 years ago but this place really needed some updating. Finally, if you're looking for a family friendly environment, this isn't it. This hotel is great for young people who want to be in the happening place where you can be loud and drink and party all night. Not good for families or if you want a quiet hotel.

LOVE THIS PLACE. Stayed last year for first night of honeymoon, and this weekend for a getaway. Amazing rooms, great staff, Thurs-Sat Fireside bar has a band with great music. Every thing you need is in walking distance. My go to for a weekend getaway.

There’s a hidden daily “resort fee” of $25, that I was informed will be increasing to $40/day soon..simply because the hotel is located in the shopping center (which is free to walk around otherwise). Other than that everything else was great.

Beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. Staff friendly and professional. Continental breakfast is fabulous!! Best scrambled eggs ever. Really enjoyed my stay and look forward to coming back in December!

Seems to be a common issue reading recent reviews. At first impression the hotel looks updated and a nice place to stay, however in short time you can see the hotel has cut a lot of corners on routine maintenance and upkeep. The rooms were had a number of repairs done that were what you’d expect to see in a roadside motel. The breakfast spread is decent and the restaurant hosting the breakfast looks nice but again after a few minutes you can see the bottoms of chairs falling out, with attempts to hold up with duct tape, the finish on the chairs showing significant wear to the point you are looking for a table where you feel comfortable to sit in. Even the cutlery at the hotel doesn’t match, there appeared to be about 4 or 5 different sets, how can you not even have matching cutlery in a hotel of this status. If they try to save money with items like this you start to question where else they are cutting corners….clean sheets? Towels? How is the kitchen? I would not recommend staying here, save you money, the hotel needs to really look at the quality they are providing and stop cutting corners to save a few dollars at what they advertise, and charge, as an upscale hotel.

We enjoyed our stay. We came Thursday to Sunday for a funeral. Rooms were clean. Receptionist table is so friendly when you walk by. Love Texas. 💗 Rooms were great, clean. No real complaints. Just a note to self: the curtains are not blackout. There’s about two inches of light at the top of the curtain. Slight bummer trying to get extra sleep before the baby wakes. It would have been a disaster if we didn’t bring our slumberpod. The crib they provide isn’t a pack n play, it’s a metal mini crib that rolls. It’s nicer than a hotel pack n play but it stretches the slumberpod a bit. Nbd. 👍🏻 Also, the breakfast is a lot less than we’re used to and makes you walk away wanting more. We don’t usually stay at hotels this nice but our breakfasts have always been way better. Friday breakfast - eggs and potato no meat. - 3 kinds of cereal with 2% milk, oj, water, - bagels and toast, - yogurt and fruit. - oatmeal, brown sugar, raisins Saturday breakfast is Friday breakfast minus the potatoes and oatmeal. 😆 The staff said weekend breakfasts always have even less food. They don’t hide that they want you to purchase from their restaurant menu where oatmeal is like $10. 😂 I’ve been to a lot of hotels (usually not as nice as this one) but never had a breakfast experience like this. Also they leave a receipt on the table for tip. Also never seen that before. Personally, I believe all staff should be paid a living wage with benefits and not be dependent on tips to make more than $2/hr. Tip requests remind me that servers often get paid $2-$3 an hour and that is just so :(. Hopefully we can pass legislation soon to give all workers a living wage.

Hotel is in dire need of a refresh, I stayed in room 430 and it has seen better days. The hvac unit had dust coming out of the vents and clearly the filter had not been cleaned or replaced in quite some time. Shade on wall lamp over desk area was dirty. Blanket laid at foot of bed was piling, old and looked like an old babies blanket. Furniture had heavy use, etc. For the location & price, the perceived value or luxury is not there. Really need to refresh/Reno the rooms asap. I was there on night for work, so wasn’t going to bother for a room change but had I booked it for personal I would’ve requested another room and/or stayed elsewhere for the cost. Positives- the front desk attendants were very courteous, smiles on their faces, welcoming. Parking in the adjacent garage is free. Easy to get on/off of highway. Great location to the shops/restaurants below the hotel.

Well managed & convenient hotel right in the center of outdoor shopping and plethora of casual and fine dining. Free breakfast is a plus. Hotel employees are friendly and helpful. Enjoy the view from your hotel room overseeing the plaza. Even though memorial city mall is a few minutes away everything yo need is only a walk away from this location. If you live in Houston this is a beautiful staycation or weekend getaway.

Outside of the excellent location with plenty of activities in the immediate surroundings, it was a pretty standard business hotel. Rooms were cosmetically nice, but the A/C unit kept turning off through the night and the sheets don't breathe, so you get hot pretty quickly. We didn't sleep as well as we would have liked...but a night without kids is nice, sleep or not.

Great location. Very nice front desk staff. I am a flight attendant so I stay at many different hotels. The Moran had the worst bed ever. I slept very little and woke up with a backache. Super disappointing.

This is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in. Everything was wonderful; location, breakfast, staff, bar! The only bad thing was the bathroom door is on rollers and really loud and has a coated glass so the light wakes everyone else up if you try to use the restroom at night. Also the beds seems smaller than an actual double so just a heads up if you’re sharing the bed with another adult lol

I scheduled a last-minute business meeting for attendees both in state and out of state. Celeste Tidwell did a great job scheduling everything for our meeting. Attendees were very pleased. This is a excellent location and has dozens of restaurants within walking distance plus all the shops and entertainment in City Centre. Looking forward to booking more events in the future.

Not impressed, NO hot water, required maintenance to fix shower, still took 15mins for water to heat up.(waste of water) Bathroom sink does not drain well. Lighting in room is dark. Had to plug in refrigerator, charging port and clock. Ask valet to park car they did not park it in the garage I had to ask why they said they thought I was coming back out Even after I told them I wasn't going to need the car for a couple days. Requested room service for the early morning I even called the desk the evening before, I put a card out they said that the bellman at nighttime would come by and pick it up. He did not. ☆☆☆ at best

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. The hotel is not maintained. Things were just falling apart everywhere. The doors, tables, cabinets...all of it was poorly constructed. The shower is disgusting. Mildew and dirty vent covers. The elevators feel like they are going to plummet. They bounce so hard when you get in. The complimentary "buffet" breakfast is just cereal and a bowl of fruit. Ridiculous. And they charge you an extra $23 a day for a "destination fee" that you don't know about until you put down the deposit for incidentals. They tell you then that this fee will be automatically deducted. They said it's bc they are conviently located. Obviously it's just their way of hiding a fee that you can't say no to. All of the guests seemed less than pleased. You can hear people complaining about stuff. I can't believe I spent my hard earned money on a dump like this. A holiday Inn is better than this.

Loved the stay. It was a last minute booking. The area is absolutely stunning. The staff was super friendly and the rooms are clean. May not be very fancy but it’s good enough. Breakfast didn’t have many options but you can order from their menu for a charge (10-20$ per person). Only disappointment was that we couldn’t cast Netflix or other shows to the tv and we got quite staying in. Other than that, it was super easy and comfortable. Will definitely be back.

Location of the hotel is excellent. Check in and general service has always been excellent as well. The 4 stars is due to the TVs and room keys starting to show their age. I get its EXTREMELY expensive to update all TVs, especially a badge system, but compared to other hotels, the Moran currently lacks smart TVs able to pair with phones. Stream YouTube and some other things.

The hotel is beautiful and love the location. However, the housekeeping was probably one of the worst I have experienced. Overall they did the normal stuff (new towels, made the bed), but I came home after they had cleaned one day and the housekeeper (assuming no other stranger was in my room) had left her feminine products in my trash can in the bathroom which just felt a bit ick. Also, they had dropped a Q-tip outside of my room the second day I was there and it just stayed there for the next couple of days I was there and they didn't replace my coffee cups so I could have a coffee in the morning but the pad in the bathroom was a first for me. I just hope they sanitized the restroom after using it.

I chose The Moran for a wedding room block recently, and I can't recommend the service or staff more. They were incredibly communicative, accommodating, and kind. My entire guest block commented on how lovely the hotel and staff were - and the location is a major bonus. There's so much to do in the Citycentre, most didn't need to rent cars. It was lovely and The Moran is now my go-to hotel in Houston. I would love to stay there again. Thank you for everything!!! (Breakfast is included!)

Absolutely love this place, most beautiful outside pool deck area or at least one of the top five that I've been to here in houston. Absolutely love the guest services are always very polite. Rooms are very spacious and some have beautiful views. Definitely recommend.

There was a slight hiccup in my room situation; which was promptly solved. My room was lovely, the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. All in all, this is such a great place to stay. There are lots of great shops and fun restaurants and bars nearby. I only ate at one this trip; the free breakfast at the hotel was top notch and delicious. Highly recommend.

What a nice spot, a lot of of things going around around the hotel just in walking distance. Valet was great and front desk great also. Stay couple of night away from the kids. We enjoy are night out and came back, Friday night they had a live band that was good. Enjoy are stay and we be coming back

Parking was a little confusing but once we got in we were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of staff and quality of room. The complimentary breakfast is only continental, and the menu options over priced, but we made do. The pool area looked nice, but was too crowded for us to want to use it. Overall a great stay for us and our 2 year old. I would stay again.

Very nice and helpful staff, but the hotel is disappointing. If I was rating just the staff, I would give them 4-5 stars. The hotel is dark and has an old/tired looking decor. Very strong chlorine smell in the lobby and on the towels. The toilet had stains as did some of the furniture. Very weird placement of the main table as it was too far from the plugs so I had to move it in order to use my laptop. The internet cuts off at times and is slow. Our room was next to a storage room so there was a lot of banging on our walls at times. A lot of places to eat and shop within walking distance. Has a pod coffee/tea machine, but no kettle. Has an empty mini fridge. Very basic breakfast: eggs, bagels, waffles, and fruit. I expect much better from a 4 star hotel.

I cant express how amazing my stay there was! The customer service is what literally made me cry! Ryan in guest services was an angle. He was so kind and attentive! When I walked up to the desk to check in his genuine smile made me feel welcomed! He took his time going over all of the options ( because I booked the wrong rooms on-line)and he was so patient with my 20,000 questions. He helped calm my nerves when I expressed my tension from planning a teenagers birthday celebration and made sure we were set up perfectly! Through out the day I reached out, and he was always there to answer any questions or provide any needed services. Ryan was a true rockstar. Vanessa was also amazing! I will definitely be staying at this property again. It was clean and in the best location. Restaurants and retail literally all around you… a complete dream hotel stay!

Top notch customer service from the entire team! Vanessa made sure we were pleased with our room. The accommodations were perfectly situated near several restaurants, shopping and event space for our group. William was delightful and absolutely amazing! Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!
