Super cute little boutique hotel near NRG Stadium. The staff is very friendly, I loved the retro vibe of the room decor, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious. Mini fridge, microwave, and coffee in the room. The bar/breakfast area is really cool, it's like a gallery with unique art on the walls. Even the elevator was fun and funky. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return

This is an overpriced 2.0-star hotel not a boutique 3.0-star hotel. No shuttle or functional bar as advertised. The entire 3rd floor and my room had an overwhelming humidity/mold smell. Upon arrival, the bathroom floor was covered with hair, obviously not mine. Same for the linen, sheets and pillows. Toilet and bathtub were dirty. Faucets are rusted. Carpets not deep cleaned for a while. No safebox in the room. This was supposed to be a 4-day stay. On day 3 still no room cleaning. I asked for cleaning, the room was still not on the list to be freshened up but they did upon request. At my return someone had gone through my suitcase. There was no doubt as I had a personal white towel deep in the suitcase between my clothes and it had been removed and sent to laundry. I’ve never been in a hotel where housekeeping go through customers stuff. I asked to speak to the manager, left a phone number and was told I would be contacted back. No response 20 hours later. No compensation offered. Gross and unsafe place. I’m outta here with or without refund.

Very cute hotel. Easy check-in/check-out. Parking lot was well lit and had security guards and security cameras, which made me feel good. Location was great since i had been at the NRG center. Bed was comfortable, and everything worked as expected. The toiletries provided were very nice. I did not eat the breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. Also, very cheap rates, which made me happy! My only complaints: the shower towels are laughably small/thin. I also found a dirty wash rag (but to be fair, where i found it was pretty hidden). Overall, definitely recommend and would stay here again.

I stayed here because I was going to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Transportation to and from the center could not have been easier. The room accommodations were perfect with a small fridge, a microwave, iron with ironing board and a hairdryer. Very clean place with a very decent breakfast every morning included. If I had to go back to Houston I would definitely stay there again.

This is nice quiet hotel with lots of art from locals and vintage furniture. The rooms are spacious and the service is excellent. There is a wishing tree in the hotel lobby that has little notes of encouragement from people all over the world that might have visited the hotel. There is a sitting area on the second floor that has chairs that look like a bookcase. They offer Uber services for you too and from the hospitals in the area. I would stay here again

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel and as soon as we walked through the door. Gerald welcomed us. His smile and customer service was amazing. Honestly would come back just for his service. When we got to the room we had a few problems with its cleanliness of the room and we told Gerald and he was so amazing about handling it he got us in a different room and asked us to go in first to make sure everything was good and it was. Of course not a 5 star hotel but I love the look of it and the customer service here. 10/10 recommend you coming here and if you do please meet Gerald he will make you smile and have a great stay!😁

Smelled mildew/mold coming from the air conditioning. They had to move to 5 different rooms before we found one that didn't reek of mold. The furniture and room is probably ~30-40 years ago like many hotels in the area. Alot of people get lung cancer years later after staying at these old run down hotels that most likely have years of mold buildup in the walls, air conditioning units, etc. i am cancer survivor myself. Be careful

First let me say, Houston people were very friendly and to book a room here at the Hotel Ylem, confirmed it. Checking in and out was a breeze. The front desk employees were all friendly and knowledgeable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for my stay of 3 days and two nights and let me say the bed huged me to sleep, it was the perfect firmness for me. The breakfast spread was a good variety and tasty! For sure my next visit to Houston , I will be staying here again!

Well I'll start of by saying overall stay was great. Really surprised me . Good breakfast and people are awesome. It's not under the hotels control but our catalyst converter got stolen. So that made us mad. I don't think it would be fair to say it was a bad stay just Uber.

The room had a horrible musty moldy smell. The fabric headboard on the bed was filthy, as were some of the common hallways. The water in the shower was lukewarm at best. The plumbing fixtures were stained and corroding. The positive reviews on this place have to be fake.

Gerald and Xander have made my experience so worthwhile. I felt so welcome and appreciated by them. I cannot wait to return and see them specifically. Gerald was quick and efficient and reassured me that my reservation was still in tact, despite my late arrival. Xander is one of the easiest people to talk to and he is quite skilled behind the bar. I cannot say anything bad a lot Ylem.

This was such a fun hotel. They are exactly who they are in personality, decor, furniture, style. It was like staying at an eccentric but really clean and tidy friend's house. Great breakfast with eggs, sausage, yogurt, cereal, toast, french toast, juices, coffee, etc. Books to read, karaoke, full bar at night, a visitor wish and wisdom tree to leave notes on and for others to read, and more. Friendly. Fast wifi. Room was comfortable and not the annoying scratchy white towel stuff. We will be back, absolutely! Excellent price for value!

Stayed here last October for a series of concerts I was attending in the area. Felt very safe here. Cameras and security always visible and my room was right off the stairs. Staff was always friendly and delivered whatever we needed to the door, even if we said we could take it ourselves. Everything was clean upon arrival as well. They had a breakfast, but I never got to go to it as I was too busy with other plans I had in the city. Highly recommend this place!

It is a very convenient place to stay near the medical center. Employees were polite, and between 7am-7pm, you can be chartered to and from the medical center. Breakfast was good, and the coffee was great.

Update: We were moved to another room and the front desk was accommodating I love the decor of the hotel. The first desk staff was accommodating our first night. We had to change rooms a couple of times due to the tub being dirty and stains on the furniture and then the shower didn’t work well. There is construction and we weren’t made aware of how it would impact our stay. It sounds like they are going to come through the ceiling. We are staying here while renovations are being done on our home so that we had a quiet place to work and rest. Called the front desk and was told I could come work at the bar. Changing rooms to a lower floor wasn’t given as an option. Likely would not stay here again but the aesthetics are nice.

Pros: The hotel is close to bus stop, restaurants, supermarkets and banks. Staffs are friendly. Cheap for long stays. Above all it's safe!! Cons: They are still celebrating covid; so the room service is available only upon request. That means you have to inform the reception what are the things the cleaning staffs need to do in your room. That's really pathetic! They have breakfast every morning which is included in the price!! No words!!! No bottled water but you drink lemon water or coffee/ tea from the reception.

Staff was friendly, good location near medical center. rooms were dirty smelled like dog urine and feces. House keeping needs To step it up. Complaint about the smell and urine on couch at front desk. They sent in house keeping and sprayed a solution that masked smell . Did not bother to clean At all. No one offered me a new room. I complained in the morning and that’s when they moved me to 3rd floor. Room was cleaner but smelled like humid towels. I don’t think house keeping drys towels completely. Fridge is non working for those planning on an extended Stay. Breakfast was mediocre!

i booked this hotel because it’s in walking distance to the stadium. it was definitely once a holiday inn or something that was converted. they’ve added modern decor but the hotel still feels dirty and smells moldy. the carpet in the room was moist :/ the worst part of the hotel is the front desk staff. misha, who i believe is the manager was super nice with answering my questions before i got to the hotel. but the rest of the staff are just not friendly and are really bothered by any questions you might have. where’s the hospitality?

We arrived around 11pm and checked in on Friday. I usually look at the bed and check how clean it is. I found some blood stains. I asked the front desk to change it but he gave me a flat sheet so I can change it. The next day, I saw the blood stain on the comforter. I was grossed out completely. I asked the front desk to have it changed. They did come and changed it right away. But having blood on comforter and sheets is just not acceptable. They also need to make sure all restrooms are clean. We had hair on the toilet.

I had a lovely experience staying one night at Hotel Ylem. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Modern decor and excellent water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was tasty and the coffee was delicious. Friendly and courteous service from staff. Thank you for a great first stay!

I am very pleased with my one night stay at this hotel for the Taylor Swift concert. It’s very clean and inviting and has so much personality and character that other hotels lack. It’s a safe and quick (less than 20 min) walk to NRG Stadium/Astrodome and you can even see the stadium from the hotel! And there’s many places around to eat within walking distance and even a Target. My one con was I wish there was more lamp lighting in the rooms or even reading lights. There was only the overhead light and a fixture to the right of the bed. I will definitely return for my next event at the Stadium!

This hotel is very charming and uniquely decorated. The staff was polite and welcoming, and Xander at the bar was excellent. The quality and size is comparable to a Holiday Inn express, but has so much more personality. I think next time I come to Houston Ill for sure stay again.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I stayed here because my child has a surgery at Texas Children the next day. The lady night staff is very rude. She has a long black hair and different race. I can barely understand her english. The location is great. AC is very old so the room is very hot. Our room doesn’t look and feel clean. I know next time not to stay here again.

It's in a wonderful location (walking distance to NRG) and the staff was super friendly! With that being said the room had a ton of rust in it, the room smelt of mildew and what seemed to have been urine, everything was dusty, terrible lighting (only 3 bulbs in the entire room). This place definitely needs updating. Ended up checking out a day and a half early due to room conditions.

I absolutely love this place. It is quite and peaceful. The rooms are decorated so well with refurbished furniture. The colors are great and the charm is amazing. The have lovely art work and interesting pieces all over the place. I was told they use local artists to do the artwork and mama's cabinet is adorable. Staying at an hotel that cares and gives back with a conscious is even better. I loved the wishing tree. Now before u ask there is no pool or sauna but the piece u feel before a life changing appointment is everything. Parking is free and the get you an uber to the hospital. I can't express how impressed I am with this place. I highly recommend this place!!@

This place is fantastic! Looks like a typical hotel in the outside but the inside is so unique! Room and bathroom are gorgeous with a steamer trunk serving as a cabinet and a luggage cart serving as a closet! Illy coffee pods in the room…yum. And a gorgeous bar and lounge! I’ll stay here every time I’m in Houston.

Great hotel for a very good price. Room was clean and a very cool retro but modern feel. The mini fridge designed to look like an old metal refrigerator was a great touch.

This place was a interestingly decorated hotel. Front desk very friendly. Bath tub had some rust spots, but the room was very clean. Breakfast was a bit disappointing for someone who looks for healthy options. Overall quiet and good value for price.

Hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming. The Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a good night's sleep! A great accommodation was the shuttle service. We were dropped off and picked up from NRG stadium. We will definitely stay here again!

A unique place to stay. Not your average everyday decor. Beds are comfy, live the concept of having the comforter folded on the bed not draped on the bed. If you stay in hotels a lot, you'll know why this is a great idea 👍
