The service here is amazing. The staff is heavily focused on satisfaction and going above and beyond. The issues I had were regarding everything else ultimately feeling like the price of the room doesn’t match what I would hope to find. As others have mentioned, the room is dated. The bathroom shower pressure is minimal and the handle twirls around. The listing noted of a fridge but the only one was the one filled with complimentary snacks. It was so small that it could not accommodate leftovers or full size drinks. Essentially everything outside of the room including the breakfast was great. The room itself was disappointing. The noise level around the room was also difficult at night. I was hoping for something more.

This hotel is just perfect! The restaurant had absolutely delicious cuisine, and the service was fantastic. All the employees we have encountered have been just sweet as can be! It's a great location if attending the opera. We will be coming back again soon!

First time guest at the Lancaster for a wedding at a nearby venue. I booked my room months in advance, directly through their website, thinking that would get me an unbeatable rate. I was very excited to stay based on the rave reviews. The night before my reservation, they listed the same type of room I was staying in for $55 less than I booked it for, so I took a screenshot and asked at check in the next day if they would honor their own website's rate. They refused and told me if I didn't cancel my reservation 7 days in advance, I was locked in. I was very disappointed in the way they used this policy and still am. Because I made sure to plan my stay in advance, it cost me a good bit of money more than if I had waited and booked a day or two before my stay. Simply because of this I would think twice before booking here again. The room was a lot smaller than the website pictures made it look, but the bed was very comfortable. The windows in the room are double pane and sound proof, it was eerily quiet in there considering the busy street right below. The two best parts about my stay were the valet/bellhop - he went above and beyond with his assistance - and the breakfast, which was very nice and served past their listed end time by a half hour.

Staff was amazing, from the beginning they offer you champagne. After a long flight that gesture really makes your day . Shout out to Laura at the front desk she was so welcoming and helpful throughout my stay . Only bad side was the rooms, they are a little outdated but maybe that’s the theme ?

Rooms were clean, and nice but outdated. Better lighting and ventilation are needed in the bathrooms, and the temperature in the room was all over the place. The bed was super comfy, and the guest service is top tier. We didn’t get a chance to eat in the restaurant or at the bar, but the breakfast buffet in the mornings is pretty amazing. They have fresh honeycomb, coffee, juice, bread service, eggs, you name it, it was there. The location is perfect. We nearly walked everywhere we wanted to go! Overall I highly recommend checking this place out, it was a pleasant, quiet stay.

Nice room. Only thing is for $200/night there was no free parking. We didn’t have a microwave or refrigerator in the rooms. There was a snack refrigerator which was free and that was a nice extra but the refrigerator wouldn’t have space for a restaurant doggy bag, etc. AND there is no access to an ice machine without going to the downstairs bar to ask for ice.

We stayed here for a night, and from start to finish it was amazing! All the staff were so sweet; they all greeted us with a warm welcome with snacks & offered us water and champagne. The room was very nice, comfortable, cozy, clean, with a old Hollywood vibe. The bar had excellent cocktails with a chill, but upscale atmosphere. Finally, the breakfast was perfect.. everything was fresh & there was plenty to choose from! It was definitely different from your usual complimentary continental breakfast. Overall, we had a wonderful time and loved our stay! We will definitely be back next time we’re in Houston. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed the historic feel with upgrades. They did a great job of modernizing the hotel but keeping an old school classy feel. Everyone was super nice and attentive. The room was very nice with a comfortable seating area a Nespresso machine, some snacks and drinks available if you want. Would absolutely stay here again for theater events, or events at 713 Music Hall. It was an easy 10 minute walk.

Excellent place to stay! Been a couple times recently and love the rooms getting to see all the different art pieces around the building been here. The staff is absolutely great with anything you need and even Tom, the General Manager was absolutely excellent in accommodating all my needs. The in the room snacks are a nice touch. I'll definitely be returning.

Everything was great. From the moment we parked everyone was over the top nice. Laura checked us in and was amazing! We found ourselves talking to her like we were old friends. Then Mr. Shim came out, the hotel manager. Another gem, one of the nicest and most genuine men I’ve talked to. After talking about the art in the lobby we were told not to miss breakfast we made our way to our room only to be greeted by complimentary Prosecco. Room was perfectly sized for our one night stay. After a disappointing Astros loss but an amazing Kobe beef burger in the bar we slept great and made our way to breakfast, which was one of the best buffet breakfasts I have ever had in my life. We were once again greeted by Mr. Shim and Laura. We will most definitely be back anytime we need to stay downtown. Thank You guys for everything!

Exceptional experience here. We stayed just one night, but there were so many positives. From the speedy and polite valet service, the friendly and unpretentious check-in, the modernized and immaculate room, to the well appointed bathroom, and the completely free and varied in-room snacks! Impressed in every way. Will definitely be back!

Wow. The service is on a different level. Everyone is smiling. Everyone is happy. Everyone is beyond friendly. Hotel was great too. Gary needs a promotion. Renae in room service was possibly the nicest person we've ever met. Can't wait to come back.

Everything was amazing! Me and my fiancé stayed there due to music event down the street. We did arrive early and during Check in we were greeted by Mr. Gary at the front desk who was super friendly and helpful. We loved all the complementary items and even the free Breakfast was delicious! From beginning to end. Will be back.

My recent stay at this hotel was an absolute pleasure. The room's elegant design and modern amenities provided a comfortable and inviting space to unwind. The staff's impeccable service and genuine warmth created a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel like a valued guest. The hotel's dedication to sustainable practices was evident throughout, and I appreciated their commitment to responsible tourism. The culinary offerings were a delightful journey of flavors, with each dish thoughtfully prepared to perfection. The hotel's central location allowed me to explore the city's attractions with ease. I departed with fond memories and a strong desire to return to this exceptional establishment.

5/5 The Lancaster is a beautiful boutique hotel. We were welcomed by the valet staff and they were very gracious and helpful. The front desk staff was very timeful and kind also. The room was quaint and clean. If you need space, the rooms are a bit cozy so be prepared. The rooms have been updated and are beautifully adorned with wonderful art. The amenities were also great. We enjoyed the breakfast the next morning. We loved the Lancaster and look forward to returning.

The room was smaller than anticipated, especially given the price, but overall it was very nice and in a great location (walking distance to a bunch of downtown venues). The breakfast buffet was definitely more upscale than your typical hotel, but looked 'fancier' than it actually was (I found a moldy blueberry in my fruit cup and the salmon was extremely fishy).

service was exceptional from driving up to checking out! The staff was incredible and exceeded my expectations. The house keeping was quick and well done. The complimentary snacks and drinks were a great touch. My wife and I felt welcomed like they were excited to have us. Cant recommend enough!

I picked this hotel based off recent reading of Travel and Leisure world's best awards for 2023. The Lancaster is definitely deserving of that #2 spot for Houston. Everything was fantastic from the room, to the food, and plenty of complimentary touches. Worth the stay!

We visited the Lancaster Hotel for afternoon tea a couple of weeks ago in celebration of my daughter's16th birthday. . Kate and Amy took care of us in the dining room, and Ramiro was our chef. What an elevated experience! The service was wonderful, and every morsel of food delicious. They even made a special cake for my daughter! It was funny how many of us said some form of "I don't usually like ____, but I really like this one!" If you are in search of a lovely afternoon tea, I highly recommend the Lancaster.

This hotel is in a convenient location for tourists as there are lots of transport option nearby, or you can walk. The rooms are large and there is a generous complimentary minibar, and good breakfast. The bedroom is in a traditional style but the shower is starting to feel slightly dated (but nothing terrible)

First time staying here and it was top notch. It was very clean, well kept and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived in the middle of a rain shower and the valet staff took care of us and ushered us in under umbrellas and took care of the luggage. I have eaten here over the years before plays etc... but this was the first time staying- I do not live in HTX anymore. It is a classic, been around forever and there is a reason it is still here. I forgot to get photos of all the meal but the Cesar Salad was superb. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding as well- a nice spread with honestly anything you could want- all fresh, hot and love the honeycomb/honey! Enjoyed our stay! Very walkable area/central for anyone new to the city and wanting to explore downtown.

I stayed here on a quick trip to Houston with a couple of friends, and it was totally the best hotel I've ever stayed in. When I checked in, my room was upgraded to a penthouse suite, much to my surprise. It was so huge I almost felt guilty staying in there by myself. Needless to say, my room ended up being the hangout. Overall, I had the best time, and the service was impeccable. It is conveniently located downtown within walking distance to many attractions, bars, and restaurants. I highly recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting the Houston area. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Lol

This hotel and the staff is one of the best in the city. The staff and team go above and beyond and each of the team is appreciated. In the Cultivated Restaurant, Kate, Bob, Dylan are A+++. The location and level of detail is uncompromised. Thank you, all!

The rooms need remodeling with dated furniture and stained carpet. The traffic noise over the weekend kept me up most of the night. The front office staff could careless and low-quality service. The owner of this hotel should change management. The service has declined over the years. I've stayed here for years; this is my last time after this experience. I was charged for four nights after only staying two nights. My son checked me out after two nights due to being hospitalized with an emergency surgery. The front staff should have communicated with the GM to help ensure my items were removed. The GM was rude and wouldn't correct the stay after being updated on the situation—better options in the area.

My faith in the joys of a good hotel have been restored at the Lancaster in Houston, TX. I have had to stay in hotels a lot of my working life and have grown used to small indignities and annoyances that seem normalized. I was shocked to stay at the Lancaster Hotel in Houston and be in a hotel that did everything perfectly and made me feel like a truly honored guest. From the moment I walked in the door things felt special, elegant and civilized. First off, the hotel has real art, significant pieces by well known artists. It always seemed strange when a hotel that charges expensive prices for a room has art work that looks like at was bought for 30 dollars at a factory outlet sale. Not so at the Lancaster. The Mark Flood at the entrance prepared me for a wonderful experience, and every room I saw including my chambers were filled with real art. Since the hotel is next to the Opera, Ballet and Symphony, as well as the Alley Theater their guests clearly know the difference between real art and cheesy decor. And those I spoke to had noticed. In the elevator strangers commented about how the art budget is a sign of real respect to their guests taste, sophistication and worldliness. Next the minibar and snacks were free. It always seems weird when a hotel charges 5 dollars for a thirty cent bag of chips and leaves me feeling taken advantage of, knowing that in strange cities and over tired I am likely to let myself be taken advantage of. Not here This small generosity made me feel cherished and I did devour the small bag of chocolate covered cherries each day of my stay. The bed was extra comfy, the sound proofing was good and street sounds never woke me. Finally the breakfast buffet was the highest quality and different every day. Day two the platter of avocado toast was divine. And the standard scrambled egg platter was kept refreshed and never was allowed to get sticky and gelatinous. Juice and coffee were well done too. In all my years of hotels this was one of my top three pleasures and this was the only one in the States. Make plans to see something at Houston Grand Opera and the Menil and make an arts culture outing with a joyous stay at the Lancaster.

I got married on Memorial Day Weekend and my wedding party and guests stayed at The Lancaster Hotel!! It was the best hotel stay I ever had! All of our guests were greeted with champagne and their welcome bags were all placed in their rooms neatly. We stayed in their 2 bedroom suite and anything we needed the staff so graciously accommodated. At one point, we needed wire cutters and we heard the walkie talks say "The bride needs wire cutters please send them ASAP!" That is how far they were willing to make everything right. My now husband and I are excited to spend anniversaries here and relive the amazing memories we got to make! If you are looking for a luxury hotel at a good price, look no further!

My husband surprised me with a night at the Lancaster for my 30th birthday. He called the hotel to let them know it was my birthday, and when we arrived, we found that they had upgraded us to a suite. They even had a bottle of champagne on ice and delicious chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us upon our arrival. I am pretty particular when it comes to hotel cleanliness, and the entire room was SPOTLESS. We had an incredible dinner at the hotel restaurant, and the breakfast buffet was also delicious. We are looking forward to making a night at the Lancaster a yearly tradition!

Astonishing service and attention to detail. From the champagne arrival to the private handwritten notes and complimentary amenities, we were smitten. We can't say enough about this hotel. Thank you for a my most memorable stay.

Booked this hotel due to the reviews. I’m not sure if all of these 5 star reviews are legit or if my experience was just horrible. As soon as we enter the room there is a empty water bottles (during a pandemic), hair on the toilet and around the tub. Fake press on nails on the floor of the restroom. It was obvious the room was not cleaned properly but just replenished the bathroom toiletries and made up the bed. They did accommodate and give us another room. However, next day it’s time to check out and we were told that our valet would be waived due to our experience. Not true I was still charged, so I contact the hotel baffled why I was charged $49 for valet when I was told it would be waived. I speak with the hotel manager who is very rude, horrible customer service and lacks in leadership. He stated the lady who told me she would waive my valet has no authorization to do so. Ok how would I know she’s not authorized if she volunteered. If you plan on booking, I hope your room is clean and your experience is better than mine. I wish I would’ve booked elsewhere, so disappointing to spend over $300 for horrible service. NEVER AGAIN!

We loved this hotel. The hotel was beautiful and the service was top notch. Our room was so comfortable and quiet, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. I can’t say enough about their customer service. I left behind a small bag and they understood my urgency to get it back, I had my bag shipped quickly to me. We would definitely stay at the Lancaster again.

My wife and I make a habit of taking Stay-cations 2 or 3 times a year but this is the first time where we’ve felt so welcomed that even my wife wanted me to leave a review. While the room itself wasn’t mind blowing, Daniel at the front desk easily made this our best experience thus far. Extremely pleasant and patient, is an understatement. My wife and I thank you and wish you a Merry Christmas broski

Laura at the front-desk was exceptional and helped plan my perfect proposal and overall night. She went above and beyond to making sure to introduce me to all the relevant parties and ensured that everything went perfectly from start to finish. They also upgraded my room as well because of the occasion. I can't recommend this hotel enough, everything was absolutely fantastic!!

Exceptional hotel. Everyone from valet to front desk is extremely friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly laid out. The breakfast buffet is included and had an excellent selection of lox, charcuterie, eggs/bacon and pastries. The location allowed us to walk to the Hobby Center, Aquarium, and Minute Maid park. We are greatly looking forward to our next visit.

Absolutely incredible from start to finish. Every staff member was so kind and pleasant. Juan was relentlessly kind at booking, even after I called 4 times before settling down on a room. The gal at the front desk (I can’t remember her name, blonde with glasses) was the absolute best and accommodated us so well, and Veronica, who is part of the custodial staff went out of her way to spread her joy with us as we waited for our elevator. Her warm conversation is remarkable and left a wonderful impression on our 3 year old son. As soon as we got into our room, we were sent some milk and fresh cookies as a “happy birthday” to my son from the hotel. The room was extremely clean, the bed was SO comfortable and the breakfast spread was divine. We have found our new Houston spot to stay! 🤩 An absolute dream!

Was a 5 star experience..Met all expectations. We were treated like royalty. We were Welcomed by a hand written note by The Manager. Upon check out, General Manager (Tom Harwell) approached us and asked how was our stay. Mr. Harwell was very polite, hospitable and genuine just like his staff. Definitely a place I will return.

Immaculate everywhere. Located in the heart of the theater district a block from the Convention Center. A fantastic breakfast with two dozen selections in a fine dining atmosphere on the Mezzanine level with a good street view. An easy to set thermostat. Room key controlled elevator access. Highest quality Bell hops. Bathroom lights are controlled by a dimmer switch so you do not need your own night light. The shower head angle is fixed and a soft genital spray is not possible.

Best hotel in Houston. Very romantic and European feeling. They pay attention to the details. It was very clean and was a great stay overall. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. Location was great. Will 100% go back for another staycation.

OMG the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in !!! Stayed there in March for my birthday. Greeted like a queen. Very attentive to my needs. Juan and Kayley the front desk agents that I encountered the most at the hotel were beyond exceptional. On my birthday my dress chain broke & Kayley helped me to fix it. Amy the bartender was very professional and made me feel comfortable. The manager Tom has an exceptional group of staff for sure ! Breakfast was phenomenal

The hotel is quaint and lovely, we are at the restaurant prior to a performance at Jones Hall. The food was just alright, not great. The charcuterie board we started out with was stale with dried cheese and dry meats. The onion soup was so salty and more like a cheese rubber soup that could not be eaten. However the service was impeccable.

I chose this hotel because of its location relative to Minute Maid park anditsupscalereputation. Upon arrival outside, we were greeted promptly albeit not super friendly but not rude or indifferent either. At check-in we were greeted promptly, professionally and warmly. A glass of sparkling wine was offered. The room was very nicely appointed and the hotel looked very well maintained. They use Frette towels and a complimentary array of snacks and beverages are provided. The room was a bit small but very nice. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was great as well. The ONLY negative thing was that only 1 elevator was working so I had to take the stairs to the 8th floor or wait forever. Other than the elevator, great hotel. I would definitely reccomend.

Our experience, from the reservation step to the departure adieu, was positive, warm and memorable. Every single member of the staff was not only professional, they were also hospitable. I believe I must especially mention how Jesus was particularly accommodating when we expressed our desire to be have a room in a higher floor. Thanks for making our stay a special one.

This hotel is in the best location. Your in downtown, but the area it’s in is super clean. You don’t so no trash outside or nothing. The hotel in general is amazing the two guys in check in are so nice. The rooms are super nice and they use nice shower products(Bulgaria). The only thing is the king room is kinda of small, but it’s nice. The rooms have complimentary drinks and snacks and a complimentary gourmet breakfast. The breakfast is better that normal hotels. Overall this is more than a 5/5
