Pros: The location can't be beat and the decor is vivid and quite inspiring to to those who appreciate art and beautiful things. Cons: I arrived around 6PM Sunday evening and my selection was not available. I had been traveling all day and was super tired and accepted the smaller Petite King room type that was offered to me. This was a much smaller room and connected to another suite. I liked the room, but because this is an older building and a smaller room the location of the air ventilation was in an odd place and it blew cold air over my head the entire night. I woke up with a head cold and requested a late check out since it was offered as an upgrade for $60. Apparently the late check out was rejected because it was not available. I find this silly because if it the hotel couldn't accommodate anymore late check outs then the system shouldn't send that to all guests. I checked out at noon and the woman standing in line in front of me was checking in. Her room was ready. I thought how nice it would have been to enjoy my room for +6 hours. I also noticed that the bathroom window was in a bad shape and need to be re grouted and repainted. I showed this to front desk attendant during check out and she requested that I emailed the picture to the so that she could alert maintenance. I couldn't help but to wonder if I my experience would have been different if I received my original room selection. Overall rooms should be available if check in is that late. These rooms don't come cheap and for the amount you're paying you should get what you paid for.

I have been visiting this hotel in this location off and on for about 40 years... Formerly called The Warwick, it has been updated in a more modern fashion, transformed from conservative to a bit edgy in the decor. The ZaZa is upscale yet warm and friendly. Fairly nice rooms, wonderful restaurant and brunch, and nice bar. It prides itself in it's Excellent location and view of the museum district. Will return again!

The standard of a hotel to those who use travel regularly is the service. The service from this hotel, specifically the front desk manager was nothing short of breathtakingly awful upon my arrival. Even with a credit card on file she refused to check me in without the presence of a physical card which I had left in my locked office. She would not even take the card number and plug it in the system to allow me to check in. Having travelled from the UK expecting a premium hotel experience I was very disappointed when I was essentially told to go and sleep on the street. I was turned away from the hotel with no where to say which is nothing short of reckless and dangerous. I asked her to call her manager many times, she simply refused. I feel that the staff here are designed to get you in and out, they don’t have a concern for safety or any real standard of service. The basic humanity missing here was shameful and were it not for a colleague driving her car across the city for me to use I’m not sure what else I would have done. This manager was clearly unqualified for the role she was in and unable to make an independent decision in this circumstance or even show basic kindness. I cannot imagine I’ll stay here again, I can’t bear the lack of humanity displayed by the staff.

We attended the NYE party and exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and the NYE gifts were a special touch to add to an already great evening. We also really enjoyed brunch the following morning, we couldn’t get enough of the delicious options that were available. We will be back next year!!

A really nice hotel in the Museum Districtof Houston. It is especially lovely from the exterior on the Main St. side of the building. The rooms are comfortable and the best part is that they let you bring your pet. The staff is very nice and accommodating. We would definitely come back.

This is an Artsy, upper class hotel. The ambiance and the hospitality is second to none. I really enjoyed my stay here. I especially like that the staff were particularly kind to my children. There was a private Disney themed [adult] party held in the ballroom. A staff member happily led my children trough the party so that they could see the many beautiful costumes and dresses. The staff member did this of her own accord and out of pure kindness. This is definitely a place I would visit again!

This was one of the best hotel stays I've ever had!! The amenities were great and the front desk staff (Daisy and Isiah) were wonderful! Kirstyne (restaurant hostess) gave my husband and I great tips about places to go in Houston (our first time in this fun city!) Every person we encountered was so friendly and welcoming! Needless to say, we will definitely be back!

The staff was friendly, restaurant and waiters were also very friendly and accommodating. However, after leaving an item after checkout, called several times to get the front desk to check the lost and found for the item without any response from them to see if housekeeping had found it. Would have been nice to have someone call back with an answer, as it took several calls and days to get a response.

WowZA! This place has vibes for days! I have never stayed in such a snazzy place, definitely romantic but not cheesy at all. Beautiful art and fantastic service. It was unlike any other hotel experience I've had in the best way. I would not recommend staying with a western facing window, however, during the summer. While it is by far a breathtaking view, it made it way too hot for our summer getaway. We were provided with an additional fan to stay cool. We stayed as a couple on a getaway, but I did see older couples, singles, and families with kids checking in.

Stayed for one night in a two double bed room. Room was nice, but a little small, and the bathroom was also small. All of the staff were very friendly, and the fitness center and pool were very nice. The elevators were also nice too, but they were a little slow, and it would be nice if they required to insert your key/scan your key to access the guest room floors. Overall, I would stay here again.

The hotel is pretty, but not sure it's worth the money. The room we stayed at was very small and the bathroom toilet had a wall in front of it that made it really hard to even sit on it. The lights from the room were constantly flickering. For the price you pay, you would think they would make sure all rooms are comfortable and fully functioning. Another issue is when we checked out and got our receipt, we got 2-3 different charges after the fact for breakfast charges, which means somebody used our room to bill for stuff and they hadn't closed our account. We called and they removed the charges, but that is pretty concerning to check out and get bills when your account/card on file should be closed. We also used their spa to get massages. The spa is freezing, so not ideal when you are trying to get a massage, the masseuse's hands were cold, and the robes for men are small, my husband was so uncomfortable always making sure it would stay in place, so wasn't the best experience. Hotel is in a very cool area which was a plus, but everything else was just ok. I don't think we would stay here again.

Gorgeous eclectic hotel in a gorgeous downtown park location. Every inch of the place has been well thought out, designed, and decorated. Art and furniture are truly breathtaking. The Magnificent 7 Suite is truly a must have experience and worth whatever price they charge for it. The bed was one of the best I’ve ever slept on. Staff have trouble answering/managing phone calls & guest requests, but the managers, like Daisy are well trained and equipped to make up for it. The place certainly holds a reputation with locals - not sure if it’s good or bad, but everyone seems to know of the hotel. Pool is not really kid-oriented, but is extremely adult-friendly and peaceful. Very nice cabanas, music and poolside service. It’s like staying in a contemporary film and art museum with an exclusive lounge/nightclub atmosphere. I definitely recommend.

I really wanted this to be a great stay. I was excited from the reviews I had read leading up to my stay. Unfortunately, it was not a great stay. It wasn't all bad, the room was good, bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. Very convenient to the light rail as well. The customer service left a lot to be desired. For upwards of $300 a night and $30 a day for parking, I was expecting way better service. Pulling up to the valet, it was a mess with the workers parking cars off to the side and blocking the drive through area. After waiting a minute, I unloaded my own luggage from the trunk and went looking for a luggage cart. Finally, came across a nice employee named Miles who loaded our luggage and took us up to our room. One room key didn't work. We got back to the hotel 20 minutes before 11pm (restaurant open until 12am), tried to get served in the restaurant with no luck, patio was closed (locked doors that said must remain unlocked during business hours). The only person that helped was a nice lady that didn't speak any English and could only serve us water. We walked out and ordered GrubHub. The front desk wouldn't allow our delivery person to bring it up to our room and told us that they wouldn't bring it up either. It wasn't "no sir, unfortunately our policy is blah, blah, blah" they just said no. Trying to check out, it took at least 3 calls to the front desk (no answer) before finally being able to have them pull the car around and send up a luggage cart.

Such a fantastic experience every time we stay here! Everything from the amenities to the decor is modern and delightful. We recently stayed in a poolside villa and enjoyed great service from the pool bar with easy access to the beautiful pool. Even being so close to amenities such as this, I room was still a peaceful retreat.

I attended an event here. The pros: Nice location near Hermann Park with a beautiful view of the fountains from the ballroom during the daytime. Beautiful decor and unique atmosphere inside the lobby. The servers inside the banquet hall were extremely professional and diligent. The cons: The street is a little small, so valet and getting in and out was complicated even with multiple police officers helping direct traffic. The ballroom is also small. I don't know if it's because they crammed in so many tables, but the unique shape makes it wide and not deep and you want to make sure you have enough room to walk around. The food was extremely bland (fish, rice, asparagus and carrots) . The salad was okay. Dessert could have been great but the creme brulee was not browned on top (I initially thought it was just mine but they just didn't do it on any of them). Paying for valet only had one person at the table which meant 20 to 30 minutes waiting online. They did have plenty of valet folks to grab the cars so that was good.

It was our anniversary and we were finally away from the kids for one night. So all that to say our expectations were high on making the most of what little time we had. Zaza made us feel like royalty. The room, to the service, to the valet, to the proximity of restaurants and bars, the pool, everything was top notch. They even surprised us with a bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberries on the house. This was amazing and we will never forget our experience here.

You have got to feel this place! The staff is amazing from Valet, Room Service, Housekeeping to the front desk. You feel like you are the only guest as your every need is met. The art work ranges from quirky, eclectic to sublime. You might feel some of the furnishings a bit dated but it lends to the cozy feel of this place. You will not be disappointed! Just go with an open mind and just have fun.

Great place to stay for a weekend getaway or any other occasion. The hotel is full of art pieces and it’s worth the time to wonder around and explore. The check in process was smooth and easy with friendly people there to help. The restaurant and bar located in the lobby area has a great menu with friendly staff and top notch food. The room was very clean and very comfortable with a mini bar if you need a snack or sip. The location is perfect for sightseeing and easy to get in and out of. The parking is valet and no self parking options. Is a great place for a wedding or conference. The history of the hotel is worth checking out before you arrive so you get a feel what it’s all about.

UPDATE: despite our rough start at check-in, hotel management reached out that same night to make things right which I really appreciated. Sometimes things happen, but it’s how they’re handled that make the difference. We finally got into our room and the rest of our stay was wonderful! Beds were super comfortable and location is perfect for exploring the museum district. Valet was prompt, on-site restaurant was really good too. The pool had a DJ during the day and good music Playing outside of that. After we eventually got our room assigned to us, our stay was really nice! —————————- Do not stay here if you intend on checking in at your promised time. We waited for 3+ hours for our room to be ready. Couldn’t go to dinner after exploring Houston all day, expecting to be able to clean up in our room before the evening started.

We stayed here for a wedding, and I enjoyed the food by the pool. The pool itself is boutique and just right. Another thing I enjoyed was the dark colors throughout the hotel which gave it a nice ambiance. The ballroom and entertaining areas were just immaculate. The room itself is a little dated but the hotel is still worth it.

It’s my first time at this hotel, and I have to say, it’s not what I thought it would be. The service is decent, there’s always that one employee that is completely on the ball as opposed to others. The ladies at the front desk made it to where one of them would assist me with getting into my corset for a test shoot, I am very thankful for that!! The rooms had a very lived in smell, and feel to them, not to mention lighting is very dim, as well as in the hallways. If you’re going for that downtown feel, this will certainly be the spot for you. The best part in my opinion was the balcony, but unfortunately my balcony was facing a very loud industrial a/c— at night from the balcony is gorgeous. The restaurant was decent, nothing I would write home about. I did enjoy the decor, the small koi fish pond near the lobby. The artsy narrative with actors, models, etc…displayed on the walls was just about the only thing I enjoyed, but to each their own!

I love this hotel because I was treated like royalty here. The staff endlessly bent over backwards to make me happy. We stayed in a pool side suite. It was A very modern and artistic hotel with much to explore and conversation was about how much we loved the stay. There’s a restaurant with delicious food, and There’s a terrace for drinks. There was nothing I didn’t like about my stay thank you zaza.

We were so impressed with the quality of this hotel. The building is in a prime location, and we were drawn to it because of its gorgeous pool & patio area. It definitely lived up to the pictures. The building is a bit dated, but the staff more than makes up for it. Every single person we encountered was so kind and friendly and accommodating. We felt very cared for and respected. We appreciated all the snacks throughout the day (coffee in the am and delicious cookies in the afternoon). If we were to return to Houston, this is definitely where we'd want to stay.

I have to say the valets, were quick with moving guests' cars. Very well organized out front. The rooms are unique, the ambiance is sexy throughout the entire hotel. Very clean and so nice, there on top of the game. The lounge is nice. The food so delicious. The location is good as well. You can walk to the museums, and just sight see. Being close to Downtown you have access to other attractions, and restaurants and more. Nice very nice!

When we got there, we were greeted by very attentive and professional valet services. They gave us some information how their valet services worked and their other amenities such as their shuttle services. Oh my goodness, their shuttle option is awesome! They will take you anywhere within a 3 mile radius around the hotel and you just need to call them again to pick you up. We also ordered food from their restaurant and requested it to be delivered to our room. The wait on the food was quicker than I expected and all of the food which were the garlic volcano fries and the calamari was very good. The proportion of the food was good for the price and they were both very yummy! Our rooms were clean and the bed and pillows felt like heaven. We had a nice view outside of our balcony as well. All in all, this place was amazing and I would go here again and recommend this to anyone wanting a nice weekend get away to view the museums or nights out.

Located within steps of museums, park, Rice U and the zoo plus other scenic places, this is a great location. Room was a large suite with a great bathroom and shower and a fabulous view. Housekeeping service great in a long term stay. Restaurant has some great choices and a brunch available till 2 pm. All staff have great standard of service and treat you like family if you are a repeat or many day visitor so they get to know you. They have unique theme, suites which I did not see, but heard were great for special occasions. An eclectic throwback interior design sets this apart and makes for a comfortable environment I love. This is a classic Hollywood theme great hotel in Houston which is also close to the Medical centers and MD Anderson if you need that. Highly recommended.

Very impressed. After arriving to a two bed room that was too small to fit our family of four we asked if they had another room available. When we did not have the best customer service experience while asking for a room upgrade, we were contacted by Daisy on staff who went above and beyond to upgrade our room and make sure we were comfortable and had a good experience. It made all the difference. The views of the fountains were spectacular and I highly recommend trying to stay in one of the magnificent seven suites on the 12th floor. Daisy also addressed the valet of our rental car as well as the pool not being cleaned immediately. ZaZa definitely earned this 5 star review and were quick to want to rectify and remedy our concerns. I love the location here in the museum district. It’s clean and feels safe. It’s two minutes from Rice University and Rice Village. A great hotel all round. Thanks for making our stay special!

It was our first time staying here. The hotel was nice. For the most part, rooms are standard fare but the view to the Medical Center is amazing. The view to the pool is excellent as well but we didn't get to get an up close view. All the staff was very nice and cordial especially the valets. They might have the nicest most courteous valets I've ever encountered. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by a poor experience at The Monarch restaurant. I have already left a review for the restaurant so I won't go into it here. Thank you to the staff for making our experience good.

My Wife and I were celebrating our 38th Wedding Anniversary last night in Houston. I made dinner reservations at Traveler's Table and thought that it would be nice to stay nearby rather than driving home to Clear Lake. The ZaZa was perfect for it's proximity to the restaurant. We pulled into the Hotel entrance and the Valet's took care of my Wife's vehicle right away. The Valet's were actually the highlight of the entire stay! We entered and went to the front desk. We arrived around 3:20PM and check-in is 4:00PM. The person that I was talking to informed me that our room was not yet ready and that he would call me when it was. My Wife and I took the opportunity to visit the Hotel Bar to start our celebration. At the bar, there was a young man and two young ladies that were behind the bar attending to customers. I approached the bar and waited for 12 minutes before a 3rd young lady behind the bar finally waited on me. My Wife and I sat down and waited for the call for our room. About 4:15, I decided to check with the front desk again as they still had not called me. The same young man attended to us and again told me that our room was not ready yet. I asked when check-in was, to confirm, and he immediately told me that he would be right back and disappeared behind the door to the back offices. About 5 minutes passed when he and the Manager, Daisy, came back at which time she began to explain that there were different levels of rooms and then assigned us a room. I didn't care about the levels of rooms, I only thought that if I were the Manager, I would apologize and assign a room immediately! Thankful, my Wife and I went to our room. We were expecting much more, I guess. The room was about 2/3 the size of rooms at The Best Western that we stay in near the Big Texan in Amarillo, when we road trip to Colorado. The room at the ZaZa was not that much nicer! To add to that, the shower had a very slow drain and within a couple of minutes, I was standing in an inch or so of water when I showered. Also, the toilet was so close to the wall that I truly couldn't imagine anyone that was overweight being able to use it. Plus the toilet leaked/ran all night. Next time we decide that we want to stay in town, we will definitely stay elsewhere!

Pros: Awesome location (lots of parks, museums, and other things to do within walking distance), room was beautiful and spacious, overall hotel decor was excellent - though eclectic - restaurant was really good, pool & pool area was nice. Hotel was overall very clean and housekeeping did a great job. Cons: Room price was very expensive. Spa & minibar prices were absurd. Front desk/concierge service was fine but not amazing.

The service during our stay was as good as it could have been. The valet staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. I had got a flat tire and needed to get my car to be towed, they made sure everything was handled perfectly. They even have a complimentary car service that will take you anywhere you need to go within 3 miles of the hotel. Mo was the one who drove me around, I can’t say enough good thing about this guy. Always a smile, always the best attitude. Another great aspect of this hotel is the small complimentary items that make a BIG difference. Starting with the Tootsie Pops and Hot Tamales at the front desk, the cookies at 3 pm in the lobby (which are amazing), the popsicle, hot dogs, and mini Tequila 512 frozen drinks 😉, the fact that hotel guest could us the spa inferred sauna and lounge without an up charge. They even setup sliders and fries with hard cider and seltzer in the lobby one of the nights. The simple fact that they are willing to give with a great attitude means that my family and I will come back again and again and again. We have stayed at hundreds of hotels all over the world and this one was one of the best. Great job Zaza staff!

Our team hosted a large event at Hotel ZaZa for 400+ people, and the entire team at Hotel ZaZa was beyond incredible! Over the three years it took us to plan the event (thanks to the pandemic, we were delayed a year), we always felt that our requests were heard and respected. Our guests had a memorable evening, and the food was spectacular! So grateful to the ZaZa Museum District team for all of their help.

Prime location in Houston! Museums, parks, the zoo...all within a very few minutes walk. This beautiful area hosts the unique ZaZa boutique hotel. The photographs hanging in this place will keep you riveted for hours. Great staff. Good food. Peaceful environment. A must stay!

Originally i was going to give 3 stars, so hear me out. Cons: -My only complaint was that my shower had lukewarm water the entire stay. When checking out the staff member was horrified and immediately spoke to the manager on our behalf and they got rid of the one room service charge and valet cost, without us asking. Pros: -The Valet team was super awesome, excited, and kind. - front desk staff was helpful and seemed to enjoy their job - the rooms were clean, tidy, and were 4 star worthy. - the art is something i always enjoy looking at and it was diverse and fun to look at - the pool area was beautiful but we didn't have time to use it - location is amazing. You are far enough away to feel secluded but close enough that you have everything close by. Lastly: I would stay here again when i come back to Houston from NC. Thank you Hotel Zaza.

Room was cold the entire night & we were unable to fully relax due to the very loud music from an event being held that night at the hotel. Maintenance person was in and out of my room several times, made a mess in the bathroom, and failed to resolve my issue. He even said that he thought I called because I wanted my room cold! Now why in the world would I want my room cold when it was nearly freezing temps outside. I live in Houston. I chose to stay at Hotel Zaza for a weekend getaway with my husband for our anniversary. I checked out after one night even when I had already paid for two which was $1200. I would’ve appreciated a notification of the event so that I could’ve made changes to my reservation. Being our anniversary we were just looking to have some peace and quiet away from home. We saved up in hopes of a special weekend $530 for one night here was a complete waste.

This hotel is absolutely amazing!!! The staff is so beyond exceptional...our suite was absolutely fantastic! It was so clean and the views from all the rooms were spectacular! Sarah at the front desk was so friendly and helpful...she always had a smile and willing to help. The valet and car service are amazing!!! They had our car ready before we even got out the front door, which they opened for us without fail! They even charged our car without being asked to do so!!!! The food at the Monarch Restaurant there is so delicious!!! Service was so fast and impeccable...brought up to the room with care and even set up for us on the table!! Jose and Juanita were always so friendly and always asked if we needed anything else once the food was delivered!! When I'm in Houston this WILL be the only place I stay!! If you are looking for a hotel that you is absolutely amazing, with stellar customer service, beautiful and clean rooms look no further! I would recommend this location 1000% without hesitation!!! Thank you Hotel ZaZa for making our stay so amazing!!

The hotel lobby area is gorgeous, lots of photo opportunities. Valet and security are helpful and friendly. I was disappointed with the dining experience at the hotel's restaurant. The service was slow, practically non-existent. The bartender and waitstaff only engaged when were able to catch their attention, but didn’t take initiative to check in otherwise. We waited 30 minutes for one entree, the other entree never came out and we had to ask twice to finally get one drink. For the caliber of this hotel, I expected better service at their restaurant.

Was pleased with Ahmad’s service while I was poolside a few weeks ago. There was an error on their behalf with my food order but he was more than willing to make it right. He also was very personable. The hotel itself was really nice. I’d definitely stay here again.

The hotel is nicely styled and smells good (yes you notice this). It's also in a very good location and that's probably the best thing about it. It's within walking distance to the Houston Museum of Natural History and Museum of Fine Arts, as well as the zoo and parks. I never really left that area when I visited except for dining. That would be the drawback of the location -- dining options are limited in that area. The restaurant in the hotel is fine but there are better options elsewhere. Why I deducted stars for this rating is that of a housekeeping issue and maintenance issue. I was first given a room with a lovely pool view. But then I noticed cake crumbs on the carpet and dirty tile floor. They sent housekeeping up and then I had to deal with a less than pleasant housekeeper. Before she left I noticed further dirt on the bathroom tile and then decided that I had enough and wanted to switch rooms. The new room was clean, but smaller. It also a huge window with a view of downtown and other guests' balconies. So people sitting on their balconies could see into my room and I could see them. A privacy screen would have been nice to let light through but obscure some view. There was also a ringing noise coming from the AC. I could have told maintenance but by that point I was tired and eventually could ignore it. I mentioned all of this to staff when I checked out and said they would take off my restaurant and room service bills. But they didn't and I still see the charge on my account. I emailed them but they never responded. So next time I visit I will probably stay elsewhere.

Much better hotels in the area for less or equal money. Whole hotel is dark and dated, plus small uncomfortable rooms with low ceilings. Our king room we booked was not available at the time of check in despite booking through the luxury hotels collection in so we were offered a queen room. Bed wasn’t even a queen, was a full with only two pillows on it for 2 people. Room was pretty sad overall. After waiting awhile and checking in to see if our king was available, and hearing silence from the staff, we cancelled our reservation and left for the intercontinental down the street. Nice new building, top notch staff. ZaZa staff was overwhelmed and not very helpful or friendly. Location is good, but not good enough to warrant the price for what you get here.

Everything was exactly what I expected, this place was absolutely beautiful and clean. The front desk checked on us after ordering room service and I requested more face clothes at 11pm and received them a few minutes later. I did have one misunderstanding with the front desk because I called prior to booking to find out if they gave first responder discounts and I was told they give 10 % but when I arrived I was told no discounts are given. I don't like confusion and I called the same number as the hotel not reservations. Go enjoy your stay and enjoy your free valet and 50 buck breakfast credit and 40 drink credit!

This Hotel is amazing! The atmosphere and the staff are extremely attentive and courteous. We had an error with our room and the manager went above and beyond to resolve the issue. They not only responded they changed our room to one better. If you arrive in time to get the. Complimentary cookies and water. I recommend the cantaloupe water.

Terrific with great bartender in the Monarch. The room was nice with very comfortable beds & linens. I would have given 5 stars, but there was no full length mirror and no makeup magnifying mirror.

This hotel is in a nice location and the staff was very friendly. However, beware of charges tacked on your bill. We got charged $46.00 for wine we never drank in the room. Our bathroom shower was basically a little more that a trickle which was disappointing since they boast that they have high pressure showers. There was no fan in the bathroom and the weather was very humid when we were there, so it was very difficult to get dry after taking a shower with no fan. If you are looking for a family-friendly hotel, I would definitely look elsewhere.

Such a wonderful hotel that goes above and beyond to make your stay special. It really feels like a home away from home because the check in / check-out is seem-less and the environment is comfortable and disarming. The museum district location is excellent too as it puts you in a great spot to see much of the unique parts of Houston. We will return.

The location is great, and the support service staff are lovely. But management and the kitchen are less than considerate and accommodating. I am vegan and was at a 3 day conference here and it was like traveling back to the 1990s. Nothing vegan except for lettuce with no dressing and dried out over salted potatoes. When I asked for at least vinegar or something to add flavor to the lettuce- not even asking for anything with actual nutrients, but basic condiments- I was repeatedly dismissed and ignored. For the price point, this stay is not worth it.

It was our first time staying there. Easy check in and friendly staff. Loved the French fries with goat cheese ranch dressing!! Also, fantastic pillows! The only minus was counter space in the bathroom but wouldn't keep us from visiting again.
