I decided to visit this place because I was meeting up with some out of town relatives and this would be all of our first time attending this establishment. I would start off by saying that I read a lot of the reviews and I was very skeptical but I like to form my own opinion of things. If you are going to visit this establishment and are looking to make reservations I would recommend you make them online but call before you do because they have several time stipulations pertaining to your reservation. Also, there's apparently a dress code but I couldn't find it online anywhere and you should inquire ahead of time for that as well. When I arrived there was quite a bit of parking available and free since it was early and on a Sunday. When we made it to the door, the doorman was slightly rude when he asked one of our ladies in our party to remove her hat as we were unaware of any dress code. We had reservation and were seated within 2 minutes of our entering on the outside area. Our waitress was very polite and knowledgeable of the menu. I never seen her write down anything we asked for and no one had any issues with their order. The drinks were great but I think some of the food items could have been more flavorful. The music was great and so was the atmosphere. The only downside of our experience was the flies outside. They were huge like they just left the gym. 😂 I think this establishment has much more potential and probably needs to be a little more forward when it comes to their requirements so that customers can have the best experience possible. I enjoyed and I definetly plan on returning.

Chapman & Kirby is the definition of Black Excellence! I went for brunch on a Sunday afternoon! There was live DJ! Looking around all I saw was fabulous styled black greatness! The Mimosas paired with their amazing Shrimp & Grits was outstanding! They provide dining indoor and outdoor. I sat at the bar and my waitress was very attentive. I believe the person who was the owner walked over to us to make sure we were having a good time and that are food was meeting our expectations! Obviously this restaurant is for everyone but it’s so good to see your people have a good time while being classy!

The atmosphere is cool but the brunch operation is a sham. They’d just seated my party a few minutes before I got there. They still made me wait in line AND charged me a $20 entry fee with a reservation. One young lady at the hostess desk told me I was fine to go back, the other told her I needed to pay, so clearly they each had a different understanding. Some protocols are understandable. This one seemed like a money grab. If it hadn’t been for my friends, I wouldn’t have stayed and definitely won’t return.

Love the atmosphere & decor, however was surprised to see the dress code be so lax. We had a reservation and were seated promptly, yet it took 17 minutes (had to stop 2 staff members) before a waitress was assigned to take our orders. Sadly, our food was underwhelming and would've been great if better ingredients were used. Amongst our table, we had Shrimp & Grits, (2) Breakfast Taco Plates & Chicken w/Waffles. Nothing to rave about regarding any of the dishes. Given the bacon used for the tacos were "bits" & not actual slices caused it to lack flavor. It would be a game changer to use tortillas like Guerrero Ready-to-cook so they have a fresher taste. Two of us ordered the Breakfast Plates and experienced the same staleness with the tortillas. I'm also just realizing that we never received the seasoned potatoes the menu states are served with the tacos. We did enjoy DJ B-Love & he kept the music fitting for the vibe and we appreciated the nostalgic selections. Our waitress, Brittany, was nice and did her best to correct different food errors. So in all, great for a cocktail & cool Sunday vibe ~ but the food is just sustenance. Have an appetizer or eat before you come.

Came here for date night and Ana was so nice and pleasant. She recommended the Brisket tacos and fries. She did NOT disappoint. The brisket fries are the best thing on the menu. The tacos had so much flavor and were homemade tortillas. I ordered the 12 oz Sirloin with Whipped mashed potato’s and truffle fries - everything was great. Husband had the Nashville hot sandwich and he was full when it came out but said it was good. Both of us had margaritas (he had the Smokey one and I had the Eado one). There was a nice amount of liquor inside. Overall the venue is beautiful. So much space and we happen to come in before the Saturday crowd. We will be back!

My favorite spot in Houston. We went on a Sunday afternoon, which I’ve heard is the best day to party in Houston. The DJ was solid, the space is inviting, you can go from outside to inside and there’s still people everywhere dancing. I’ve noticed in Houston, there’s not so much intermingling, people mostly stay with the crowd that they came with but here I thought it was at least a little different where you’re able to meet people which is always what I’m looking to do when traveling. Good service, highly recommend. Can’t comment on the food, but I think it’s mostly chicken and wings from what I saw on others table.

All these places let you in free by certain time.. but they want you to buy sections some.. $400 to $800. j Just to sit down then you must buy one or two, 100 to 150 a bottle. You cant stand here or there. No seats at the bar , standing room only. Because there is no room, people dont move from the bar so others can get in to even order a drink. Security was kind of rude. We were raised, so we are giving people time to move, but Security suggests I just push them down the steps next time. Along as doorway clear, he doesn't care.. empty seat every where buy you can't sit in them.

Came here for a quick stop before going to a Dynamo game. Enjoyed chips and queso as well as a clutch city Mule. The drinks will put some hair on your chest and the chips and queso are your average bar snack food. At times service was speedy and at others it took us forever to get the attention of a bartender.

Wonderful atmosphere. We went for brunch and there wasn’t any wait. Great prices. Servings of shrimp and grits are small so we ordered two entrees. Will definitely be back

We went for Memorial Day weekend. The lines outside were long but it was moving fast. I think we waited probably about 25 minutes outside in the heat. Who waited for about 7 to 10 minutes at the bar to get a drink. I got one of the waitress attention, she kind of brushed me off and we waited for another one. There should be more waitresses behind the bar for every section of the bar. It was a very hot and overcrowded place with really good music. I love how the DJ switched it up, from hip hop music to R&B music to a little bit of gospel music for Sunday Funday. It was just a really nice mixture of music in the drinks or good but it was just too hot. A lot of us was Dripping with sweat. I would suggest bringing a personal little fan

It is a beautiful location with outside seating. My friends and I went for a friend's birthday. We had drinks and they had appetizers. The food is good for pesco-vegetarians, they don't have many vegetarian options. The drinks were good and the service was great. Our server Beth was patient and attentive. Parking is $10 for most parking spots. If you have the parkHouston app, you can easily pay on it. Valet is $20, so I'd avoid it. The area was busy but Chapman & Kirby was fairly empty. They had a dj who played almost everything. The music was good if you like a variety. They have large TVs if you're into watching the games.

Pleasant attention and service, very very tasty food. Excellent drinks and very good service at the bar. I like it better on days when they open early. Sundays are not bad for those who want a lot of movement, dancing and drinking until you can't take it anymore but it's not my style. In general I recommend it, especially if you want to do events, For your family or company. The valet parking is excellent and I agreed with the quality of service and price.

Was it the Astros win last night or is this spot always this incredible?!! I mean the music had me forgetting I where I was it was such THE VIBE! My son and I literally had the best dinner too, highly recommend the ceviche, beef/chicken nachos & the ahi tuna tower was my favorite! I will give this restaurant 3.5 out of 5 stars. The atmosphere was nice and food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the catfish & grits (w/ brisket fries on the side). So mouth-watering! However, one complaint I have is paying. An entry fee to a restaurant? I believe $20 to $40 just to get inside the door before you eat is outrageous.

Josh was amazingggg, I mean great personality and great energy. I wanted a fruity cocktail, and I informed him of what I like and he definitely made it happen. Also, compliments to the chef, I had the ribeye steak (medium) mashed potatoes and broccoli and it was soooo good. I’d highly recommend if you’re visiting Houston💜

Food and waitress was good. We were a large party of 12 with a reservation for outside. The tent had only two small fans that was on the floor. It took them 20mins to get the fans on but that didnt help with the heat. We ask if we could move indoors but was told everything was booked. We decide to leave and find another spot.

Pretty great place to hang out and eat good food. Steak was the only thing there that tasted off. It tasted like a mushroom steak. Waiters were excellent. Took too long for anyone to notice us and it was hard trying to get anyone’s attention to order or pay the bill.

Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and we were seated outside initially. The vibes were nice but the FLIES (the large ones) were terrible. We were swatting from the time we sat down until we got up to go inside (2+ hours). It really put a damper on the outing as we couldn’t enjoy our food or drinks. On the flip side, the music is decent and drinks are good. The blackened shrimp salad was good (the small bites I was able to eat) but we literally had to put our food in to-go boxes to keep the flies out…. they were EVERYWHERE.
