I don't know if all these China Stars are all part of one company or if they're independently owned? It was pretty busy during the dinner hour and seemed like a lot of families were dining in. The food was ok and edible with nothing really standing out. The pans and steam table areas should probably be wiped down more often but by the way the customers were loading up their plates, that would be difficult to maintain I imagine. Nice polite host as well as wait staff. Because I really didn't feel "wowed" by anything and I don't really have any complaints, I gave them 3 stars and would probably go back maybe once every 3 or 4 months

China Star is in a building that was once a Golden Corral so that goes to show you how big it is it is full of buffet tables that are full of a lot of different foods that you normally don't see at a Chinese buffet they are Asian meals just not the typical ones you see everywhere you go they have a very elaborate salad bar they have a dessert bar and they have a sushi bar it is freshly made right there in front of you and if that's not your cup of tea you can get a Hibachi Bowl made also another thing to note the staff are all in uniforms they look very professional they are very polite and respectful and I had no problem keeping my glass full.

I just visted China Star off I10 East Freeway for the first time. I tried some shrimp, a few crawfish and some fried crab. I noticed a hairlike string attached to several of the crab on my plate. It made me feel nauseous after observing this and I no longer had an appetite. I asked for the Manager. her name was Jessica. I explained what had happened, as I had barely eaten and asked to comp my meal. She unapologetically offered a discount. I asked why would she not comp my meal. She said the hairlike string was a part of the fishing net and they can't remove all of them. Jessica picked up my plate of crab. I asked for the bosses name & contact number. She replied he wont answer the phone anyway and walked away! My friend and I immefiately went to pay for the meal. She gave a 10% discount which was unacceptable to me. Jessica was unprofessional and displayed an inability to handle customer complaints. I will NEVER visit any China Star this day forward!!! The food was barely okay. There was not as much a selection of stir fried foods as one would expect. The fried chicken was cold and stale. The wonton soup was not edible, and I love wonton soup. 😔. Other selections were warm in temp but not hot. It cost $40 for two people. I do not feel it was worth that amount. I probably will not return unfortunately.

Food is restocked timely, well cooked and taste great. China Star offers a buffet with great variety of foods to please customers from freshly cooked veggies, salads, seafood ( shrimps/crabs/crawfish/ steam n fried fish) and Sushi. The buffet it also is kid friendly as well.

The food wasn't as good as people told me. The Mac n cheese is horrible, the boiled shrimp were over cooked. The best dishes were the seafood salad served hot & mustard potato salad. The smell of a sewage issue was overwhelming so we ordered take out. I won't be dining there again.

Seafood and my menudo shot at this one stop shop. Everything is cooked perfectly. Not overly salted and all fresh. Great service, waitresses are all busy servicing everyone. I Always recommend this location

Everything was fine, the food was good except for the fact that there was hair in my food! And all I got was 15% off because of a hair in my food. Honestly, $16 per person + drink is kind of steep. Definitely not coming back.

I like the variety, it is family friendly. The staff were really friendly. I enjoyed my meal

Highly recommended. The food and service was great. I love the huge salad bar. Great variety of food and the steam table kept the food warm. I like the decor and the restaurant was clean.

Great food, it is very hard to find a good Chinese buffet anymore but this is one. We went at lunch and they had everything all the time. Didn't have to wait for more of anything I wanted to be made and didn't find any old food either. Everything was good and fresh. I didn't have much for dessert but the chocolate pudding was great. I would definitely come here again. The waitress came by just when we needed her not to much and not to little.

I love Chinese buffets, like I really love them. I'm not expecting authentic Chinese food, I know it's all americanized and I appreciate these buffets for their variety. Maybe my standards are too high because this place was not it. The food was not very appetizing. Some dishes were too salty, others too sweet, and some were just bland. Again, I know I'm not getting quality dishes but everything was subpar. The sushi was more rice than filing. One of the rolls was rice and cream cheese. Same with the crab rangoons, more fried wrapper than filing and the filing was disappointing. It was also messy, the floor felt obviously sticky. There was a leak in the ceiling so there were several buckets in one spot, in front of the raw food hibachi section. The atmosphere was just unappealing. I've been to better Chinese buffets :/ for the price, it's just not that great. Also, I ordered two hot teas, but I guess I need to clarify, ONE hot tea and TWO cups.. why would one table of 4 want 2 whole teapot of tea.

Everything we tried was delicious but not too much of a selection was available and no sauces for the sushi

This is a really nice and clean also friendly environment the Crawfish is amazing but that does not leave out the rest of the food as well it is great I enjoy it awesome wait staff and customer service

This location wasn't that great. The food was pretty decent, but the service and inside atmosphere could have been better. The restrooms were horrible, and the inside of the building was hot. This location has pretty okay food. We won't be trying this location again.

Food was good for a buffet at this price. It was also fresh as can be with staff constantly changing out the trays. Huge plus. Service was regular can't complain. The restaurant was a bit unkept. I think they need better housekeeping. All in all if you're on a budget and want to have decent selections and you're in the racist city of Jacinto City, do come by. Plenty of selections here where only the bean bag customers are rude.

So busy, and so many children running around I was very distracted from my meal. The food was average large buffet fare. 15 minute wait to be seated, but staff was very good at handling this huge crowd of people. Every table In the large dining room was in use.

So clean and in order! Buffet tables were well stocked and foods looked delicious. Hots were hot, and Colds were cold! The plates were cleaned and the staff was pleasant when my family visited. Our meals were all quite nice. Thanks a bunch.

The food was hot and fresh. This restaurant could benefit from good deep cleaning and maybe turn up the lights. It was very dark and gloomy. The bathrooms were decent but smelled like sewage. The boiled crawfish was delicious 😋.

Food was warm at best had a pretty decent selection.... now if I could have gotten a refill for the 45 mins we were here that would have been great. All servers were more worried about cleaning then serving.

Food was terrible hostess was rude and the window was smeared with who’s know what! Food looked like leftovers just a waste of money!!!!

It's always busy sometimes they run out of food and don't replace..not much variety of sushi but tastes fresh made..staff is always nice and quick though..id go again I've taken my kids and they like it and that's what's important to me

Large, reasonably priced, buffet. Very good selection of food. Everything was tasty. Service was excellent. Sushi bar, tepenyaki (they call it a hibachi grill), dessert bar, and ice cream stand (both soft serve and dipped) rounded out the selection. My Wednesday night dinner (senior price) and ice tea, with tax, was $16.77 before tip.

This is actually a relatively good buffet. Great price, quick seating, and delicious food especially the standard “Chinese” chicken items. It’s the generic American-Chinese food chicken, but they were all really delicious. The atmosphere is a little dark and strange like a club, but overall good restaurant.
