I loved this place! This was my first time eating here. I didn’t know it was owned by Pappas. For being what I’m assuming is an older restaurant, it is very well maintained. Very nice and clean and the employees were all very nice and helpful. The food was super comforting and delicious. I can’t wait to go back! So glad they’re 24hrs!

This place was definitely a gem. We traveled from California to Florida and were headed back to California. We were looking for a great chicken fried steak and this place did not disappoint. I got the gravy on the side, as I always do. I asked for biscuits instead of toast and what I was brought was two gargantuan sized biscuits. They were divine and the perfect accompaniment to my chicken fried steak. The hash browns were ordinary, but easily overlooked with how great everything else was. Dot's Coffee Shop is definitely worth the stop and even worth driving out of the way for

What can I say? Place was recommended by a manager I was working with while in town and he was spot on with this one. The food tasted like it was made from scratch and fresh, not sure if it is. Place was clean and decor didn't look run down. Had a nice diner feel, and if you're familiar, reminded me of Big Boys restaurants. Smell was pleasant and the pies on display looked fresh and ready to eat and not like they'd been on display for a week. Our server was great, knowledgeable and had good input on suggestions. She was genuine and we laughed a lot. She attentive to our needs throughout breakfast and was also on point with her communication when I had issues with my card having an error. This place deserves it's reputation and as a place to be suggested. Try the chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken. The biscuits were huge and flakey. Top it off with their gravey... Heaven. Lastly, kinda weird point as it's normally a inauspicious filler and side item, but the hash browns were the best I've ever had. Both crisp where needed and when I broke my over easy egg on top of it, it was super creamy. I could eat that combo several times a week. As constant travelers for work 3 or more weeks a month, my companions and I have had it all. We can be hard to impress or please at times. It's very telling that such simple fare could leave such an impression on all of us. It just goes to show that even if it's simple, if you do it with care and quality, it can still be excellent. Like Lebron! 🤣 I will be coming back next visit to HTown!🤙🏾

Great place for brunch! The atmosphere was diner/coffee shop like. The structure of the facility was vintage, very home like. Service was great! The food was amazing! Everyone at the table liked thier food. Definitely coming back when in town.

We moved to Houston 8 years ago and have passed by this place over the years. We always said we would stop in and yesterdayvwas the day ... FINALLY! The food was excellent and our waiter was kind even though he was super busy! (They are hiring, FYI). The portions are huge and the food was super flavorful! I love their spin on their French toast batter (I believe I tasted mace and not too many people use that spice correctly)! We will definitely be back and try the dinner menu!

This restaurant was INCREDIBLE! From the strawberry waffle to the fried pork chop, everything was flavorful, well prepared, and Texas-sized! That pork chop was a heavenly, buttery, perfectly fried delight with a heaping helping of hashbrowns. The pancakes were fluffy and in my opinion didn't even need the syrup. The breakfast sausage looked delicious, but my kid gobbled it down before I could ask for a bite! Service was friendly and prompt when we sat down even though it was very busy. It seemed the head manager knew a lot of guests by name which is rare to see these days- very impressive. To top it off, that pecan pie...I literally can not wait to eat there again!!!!!!

This was my first time coming here, the wait on a Sunday morning was 25 mins. Which is bad for a popular breakfast place on a Sunday morning. Now let's get to the service. The service was great, friendly waiters and good service. The food was pretty good, I just didn't like the sausage patties. They tasted very different from what a regular pork sausage. Overall a very good place.

Dot Coffee Shop holds a special place in my heart, as it does for many Houston locals who have memories and stories of enjoying fresh home style southern cooking. The country fried steak and chicken are easily the best I've ever had with a crispy batter and juicy meat. Obviously accompanied by southern sawmill gravy and make sure you get a side of biscuits. The interior is original to 1967 inception and has been satisfying H-town locals ever since. Worth visiting weather it's convenient or out of the way. ☕️🥓🍳🥞 Oh and the portions were so big I couldn't possibly save room for pie - that I will return for! 🥧

Went to dinner with family. The waiter did an amazing job. The main issue was we didn't get all the food at the same time and some of our orders were done incorrectly. Once all the food was corrected it was delicious. We did let the manager know our waiter did a good job with his service and worked with us to get things corrected. This is why I am giving 4 stars.

Haven't been here for years. Food was good, prices have increased a bit. Our server, Alexander, was good. He was very attentive and nice. We ordered the banana cream pie and coconut cream pie (to go) and both were delicious!

The food is always fresh. Service always on point. Atmosphere friendly. Love the homemade croutons. They are extremely dangerous!! My waiter Austin today gave impeccable service. He was very attentive, friendly and observative! I give him 10 stars!!

The customer service at Dot Coffee Shop is absolutely AMAZING. Danny was very helpful and attentive. The food was DELICIOUS with the exception of the grits. The grits were absolutely terrible. The omelette was very flavorful and the french toast slices were huge and came in a generous portion. I would definitely come back!

This was our first time visiting and we were very satisfied with our food. Everything was tasty and hot. I especially loved the Texas toast that we got with our food. The only thing I did not like about this place is there is not much of a variety on the breakfast menu. Most of the french toast and pancake orders come separately or with just meat so you would essentially be buying everything a la carte if you wanted it to come with hashbrowns, bacon, grits, etc. So, I feel like this place is very expensive but you do get a lot of food for your money.

First time patron and the reviews were spot on! I absolutely loved the atmosphere at Dot's! It's lively with great music and amazing staff! We went on Sunday morning so it was busy with a reasonable wait time. We were told a 40 minute wait and were seated within 30 minutes. It was a yummy breakfast and it didn't break the bank! Three French Toast with 4 bacon slices...yummy yum yum! Will definitely go back to try put the menu.

Old fashioned cafe. Large portions served quickly by the friendly waitstaff. If you are looking for a nice quiet place isn't it, but if you are wanting a fun place full of energy, come here on Saturday morning. Chicken fried steak and eggs ! Cheese sticks the size of a double stack roll of quarters.

Very good food and service. The place was packed but our waitress had us and her section feeling like we was the only 1 there * forgot to get her name *. They also have the biggest cheese sticks I've ever ate. The food was good portions and very good. Definitely will go here again next time I'm in the area

Really enjoyed this place. First time. Holly was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Coffee and food was fresh and tasted amazing. Coconut pie to go...was very good as well. Large portions! Definitely had left overs. Would be nice to have retro style TVs in place of modern flat-screens, but, understand times change and so is technology 😉🙃

My doctor's office ordered several omelets for their healthy eating campaign ( Dedicated Senior Medical Center). The omelets were wonderfully seasoned. Egg was properly cooked. The vegetables (bell peppers, onions, tomatoes,....) diced to give an excellent texture. Not over cooked. Not undercooked. This was amazing. Thank you for the experience❣️Couldn't take pictures because the food was gobbled down so quickly by all of us patients 🥰. A definite reason to stop by and get more.

We love everything about it. Great chicken fried chicken. Pancakes are great! Soups delish I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. Great place and family atmosphere. There can be a bit of a wait sometimes but well worth it

Chicken soup with rice tastes of mostly garlic, and has tons of chopped onions. I picked a small handful out. Burger pattie is super salty. For the price, wouldn’t come back.

We had a great experience at Dot Coffee Shop. The food was great. The bathroom facilities are clean…the diner has a great 1970’s vibe to it. Our waiter Alex was really personable.

Amazing downhome cooking that will make your taste buds thank you! I haven't tried many dishes, but based on what I've had, I'm looking forward to trying everything. If you like warm, soft, pillowy yeast rolls with real butter, do yourself a favor and order a basket to munch on while you wait for the main course.

Never been or heard of Dot before. It looks really old and has an old school diner look similar to House of Pies. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and loved it! It came with a big side of hashbrowns. Loved the crispness and it already had salt. The sandwich was very delicious. The eggs were scrambled to my perfection. 5/5 Also had the fried mushrooms (comes with a housemade ranch) and cheesesticks. The mushrooms were ok. Tasted better with ranch. The cheesesticks came with marinara sauce. Tried the club sandwich and it was decent. 3.5/5 The mudslide cake was really good. Moist, light, and not super chocolatey. 5/5

Great homestyle food. The staff was very family and the service was quick despite having a decent sized group. Brunch options were plenty and dessert menu is amazing.

Pretty good food and nice atmosphere. Prices are reasonable but on the higher side for a breakfast joint. It will fill you up!

It's always great for a late night fix. Open 24 hours, and they serve breakfast all day, which is a plus for us late risers. However their men's bathroom smelled like a mixture of perm and throw up, the owner needs to fix this problem as this jewel of a restaurant should not be treated this way.

Service was good. Food was okay. The steak wasn’t seasoned at all. The eggs and meat tasted fake. The grits and pancakes are good. Hash browns were dry.

The food was solid. Got the catfish & fries, and it was so good. Served up good and hot. Good service. Not too busy. Parking lot had plenty open spots. We were thankful they were open 24hrs, cause we needed a meal after partying.

food was good but the bread for the Philly was super hard. service was nothing to complain about. the atmosphere wasn't bad but it was super loud to the point where it was a head relief to get outside and just hear the highway noise.

Our hostess, Holly was awesome and very personal. This is my second time here, it's still amazing. My mom ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and amazing coleslaw. The slaw is the BEST I have ever had. I kept sneaking bites!!!! I ordered the beef tips on rice, green beans and black eyed peas. The tips were very taste. Holly brought us fresh rolls straight from the oven. They melted in my mouth, so good. For desert we ordered the Mudslide choco cake and the famous carrot cake. Both verry yummmy...

First time to this new location but in the past I patronized the Dot in Southeast Houston, 45 South @Woodridge for over 30 years! This one off I-10 in East Houston is fantastic...quality and quantity of great tasting food, atmosphere and service! Of course I'll be back and soon! The pictures tell it all...

Give 4 stars due to staffs breakdown. Server brought us bread twice after we didn't want it and kept messing up all over the place. No coordination between workers. The food was good, but when the carrot cake came it was mostly frosting. Disapointing, but on the bright side, what lightend and totally turned our visit around was our wonderful waitress GWEN! She was awesome😁 will return just to get her service.

Dot Coffee Shop is our stop after church. They give you so much food, ( if you're not a big eater). You have your lunch/dinner on the same plate. For the price, it is worth it! Y'all check it out and you'll see what I mean. 😉The waite staff are very friendly and the food is good!

Great service, large variety of food options, and you can’t beat free warm, fresh bread! Laid back atmosphere and good for families. The availability of egg whites was great, though I didn’t care for the biscuits.

  • 3/5 Tawana C. 5 years ago on Google
The food is pretty good and the service was on point. The cute retro decor makes this place a nice spin off but the nostalgia of the original Dot Coffee Shop on 45 can't be replaced. (The Mimosas make up for it though) We came for weekend brunch and was not disappointed.

Completely love this place! I've recommended it to so many people. Those who've visited also enjoyed it. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the food is rather delicious. I especially enjoy their breakfast, obviously. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly and efficient. The building itself is well-maintained and clean. Be sure to arrive early on weekends, or you'll have to wait a while. This is definitely my go-to breakfast place.
