Was traveling through Texas from Oklahoma and we were going to go to the Houston Botanic gardens but saw this one was free. My mom was sceptical about this place but it blew our minds. The place is absolutely beautiful and so grand in size. We just kept walking and there was more and more to see. I definitely recommend coming here to walk around, and even a great place to take pictures. Farther back is a pond with many benches and in the water was dozens of turtles, it was so neat to see the turtles swim up to you. Close enough to definitely touch. Very cool destination. I haven't seen any place like this on this cool of a scale in Oklahoma before, so I definitely recommend coming here and getting in touch with nature!

Visited this public botanic garden in 2021. It is free of admission. This 325 acres garden has various types of garden bed, ponds, a waterfall, walking paths, a primitive loop, greenhouses, a tea house, and a visitor center with a classroom. The vast array of plant species and meticulously maintained landscapes make it a paradise for nature lovers. Walking through its serene paths is both calming and inspiring. The gardens are well-organized, with informative signage throughout. When we visited here it was in the beginning of spring, so the trees were still recovering from the winter.

How come no one told me about this place?! Let alone I hear no one talking about it? this place is such a 💎. I didn’t know it would be on so much land. That was fun because I could get my steps in and it wasn’t just one trail but it’s broken into different paths so you can enjoy different parts of the garden from different perspectives ! I really enjoyed my walk here and there was so much plant species to look at and awe over. The best part was just how not in “Houston” it felt or even in Texas sorta ? It felt and looked like a place in the Pacific Northwest minus the the water. I think in a way that is like a retreat from everything we’re so used too as Texans but also just the hustle and bustle from the city. It was refreshing to say the least and if you want a picturesque photo or just out for a walk like I was… this place is it. Parking is decent but I can imagine on a busy day or lots of events happening it’ll get packed. They are also doing renovations so keep that in mind. They have bathrooms and a community library there too. Enjoy!

This place is amazing. We drove from Houston and it was very worth it! There are miles of walk trails. Tons of professional photographers were there doing family portraits and school pictures which tells you how gorgeous the grounds are. There is a lake. Nearly every plant has an identification marker so its a great place to get landscaping ideas or just learn the local flora. There is a long trail through the woods too so you can get a good walk in the shade too. We will be returning a lot of times in the future.

The best Nature walk with local plants and flowers with a beautiful settings and ever expanding paths. Perfect place to spend truly memorable quality time with family members and loved ones. My personal favorite is the tranquility that I feel in the new addition with the large pond with wind chimes, turtles and fish and never ending bird songs. In the weekend afternoons you may have to maneuver through the photographers taking pictures of lovers, expecting mothers, quinceaneras and college graduates. But usually through out the week so much quieter.

There is no doubt that this is a place that should not be missed if you love nature. It's a place full of flowers and butterflies, and it's a very picturesque place. Free entry and beautiful gardens to enjoy. There was something very special about the place and I felt a deep connection to it. Definitely worth a try!

Mercer Botanic gardens is one of my favorite places to visit up North. I was excited to see all the new editions! We visited on Mother’s Day to take photos and we didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to visit more during the summer.

I always love this place! It’s so pretty and never busy. I do wish there was a way to easily see if parts of the trail are closed as a large portion was being cleaned up from storms this past week. We still had a great time and even got to see pink bananas growing!

Beautiful garden and very well maintained. Wish I can come back during spring, m sure it would be even more beautiful. Also, looking at the other photographs, I realize I wasn't even able to see the entire garden, it's bigger than I thought!

Great place. But don't go during photography times (whenever that is). They take up a lot of space and block walkways. Lots of people just standing around. Granted it's an open and beautiful place for pictures, but it kinda kills the experience when you have to keep double backing and walking around photographers, their equipment and the entire family. You also can't take your pics because everyone else in the background. Just have to be patient and wait for them to get done or move on to another location. Other than that it was nice for our first time.

This botanic garden is a gem in North Houston! While the new Houston Botanic Garden on the south side is in its infancy, Mercer Botanic Garden has been around since the 1970s. It’s beautiful! If you want to know what plants thrive in the Houston area, then go to Mercer Botanic Garden. I love how there are ample park benches situated throughout the garden so one can pause and reflect. The Arboretum is across the street.

This place was so beautiful. Brought our family and we had such a great time walking through the trails full of different flowers and plants. Great for professional photography. I believe there is a fee for that. Call the park for details. Today the main office was closed. We didn't get to go inside. Not sure if they had public restrooms.

What a nice place to visit. The paths through the different types of gardens really encourage you to take your time and sit a while. It's obviously a great and popular place for photography as I saw many different groups enjoy this benefit. Be sure to donate as it is free to roam.

First time visiting after many trips to the area and glad that I found it! I'd like to come back to see the garden in full bloom in the warmer months. I am also amazed that it is free, but please do consider donating when you visit.

There’s always something blooming at Mercer Botanical Gardens. The gardens have come back stronger and better after the damage of Harvey. New gardens and new paths were constructed. A visit to Storey Lake is a must. Lots of benches to sit and absorb the beauty of nature. April and May are the best months to view the gardens in bloom. The gardens are open year round and admission is free. A walk through the gardens is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon

This place has been on my want to go places. My husband and I visited 4/25/23. There was so much to see and it was such a beautiful place. There is even a cute fairy garden for the little ones. Make sure to visit the visitor center at the front to sign the guest book and donate if you want. Entry is free! It’s definitely worth the visit!

I really enjoyed a beautiful day walking among the many different gardens. It was well kept, well organized, and especially pleasing. There was enough shade to seek refuge from the sun toward noon. 2 hours was barely enough time to see it all! The only suggestion would be to have better signage to the different sections, especially to the lake.

The International Landscape Lighting Institute Spring intensive course returned to Mercer Botanical Gardens and they treated our group like family. The gardens are beautiful and well cared for. Our goal was to make what is beautiful during the daylight into something magical and useful during the night time. Lots of educational programs and the staff is wonderful. If you are in the area you should pay a visit.

Overall a very beautiful experience, people walking around mixed with the natural landscape make for a wonderful experience. All sorts of plants were present during our walk, there is a lake with a pavilion next to it making it a good spot to relax in. This garden is next to a humongous bike trail network with direct connection under Aldine Westfield although note that bikes aren't allowed inside Mercer Botanic Garden trails! Definitely a must visit for families.

What a beautiful scenery! This garden is well kept and has low traffic during the week so you’ll be able to get great pictures and observe nature in peace. Did I mention that this is FREE? 🙏🏾

Nice collection of plants beautifully arranged and well labeled. For a longer walk extend your visit on to the Natural area trails beyond the main central garden.

So much to see & so much to learn. I enjoyed all the gorgeous views. However, if you're easily frightened by snakes, do watch out for them. I came across a large black snake, it didn't bother me & I didn't bother it. Also, you will come across bees, don't bother them and they won't bother you.

I feel in love with this hidden gem. I think all the fountains and pillars are beautiful. This place you can zone out and figure out what plants would go good in your garden. It's perfect for families.
