Such a wonderful walk through Houston’s past with eight historic structures including a log cabin and St. John Church, dating back as far as 1823. Gorgeous trees and walkways. Spend the day and stroll through history. You can even purchase tickets and take a private tour inside these beautiful structures. Parking is free 1100 Bagby. The Museum of Texas History is open to the public Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m.

Nice quiet park on the weekends. Visited this place on a Sunday. It has some historic homes within the park. It was nice to sit around and see some of these houses from outside. Can't go in the houses. Very peaceful and has lots of shade with the large trees.

Sam Houston Park pleasantly surprised me during the 2024 rodeo run, and I'm thrilled I stumbled upon this hidden gem. The park's charm became evident as I explored its features post-race. The Heritage Society, nestled within the park, adds a touch of historical richness. It's separated by a street, with one side offering benches under the shade of a colossal, picturesque tree—a perfect spot to relax, read a book, people-watch, or explore the Heritage Society. On the other side, a sprawling area with a pond captivated me, especially considering the grandeur it displayed on the day of the rodeo run. The space accommodated the Parade band, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The park's versatility, combining serene retreats and lively event spaces, left a lasting impression. Sam Houston Park is a true hidden treasure in the heart of the city. Highly recommended, it seamlessly blends history, nature, and community spirit. Even my dogs, accompanying me on this unexpected adventure, thoroughly enjoyed passing through this delightful park. If you haven't explored Sam Houston Park yet, it's definitely worth a visit for a dose of tranquility and unexpected discoveries.

Nice park in the middle of downtown. Multiple historic houses and a church. And a small art museum. The park seems well maintained, and we only saw 2 or 3 homeless people. You can tour the homes, but days and times are limited. There's also interesting architecture in the area outside the park.

Beautiful park in Texas with awesome sunset and city views. Entire trail is 4.5miles with designated parking slots and accessibility parking options. Sam Houston park is located close to Main street downtown and close to restaurant and cafe.Good to visit for a weekend evening with family

Nice park for a walk. Very clean and no homeless were in the park ( mention this only because there have been large groups camping nearby recently)

This is the first time I've seen a park where entire buildings have been moved so that visitors may wander around to view them and learn about their history. I liked it very much. The houses and they're stories are interesting and lovely. I recommend listening to the audio guide for the houses you're interested in. Even though we didn't get to tour the interiors, we still enjoyed the experience.

Besides this is the regular Start and finish line park for Houston Half Marathon. I love ❤️ this place just to get off from work at lunch time and have a brief walk there. Specially during the fall and winter 🌊 season.

Houston history in one place. The Heritage Society is a great place to visit to learn about Houston history. You get to travel back and imagine how life was before. You are able to go in some of the houses. You can get a tour guide tour or listen to a prerecorded audio on your phone.

I was here for the Houston 12ks of Christmas run. It’s well maintained, beautiful and has the backdrop of downtown. It’s a great place to stage races or just hang out and have a picnic.

A real HIDDEN TREASURE. When people think about parks in Downtown Houston, they usually think of Discovery Green and Buffalo Bayou but to me this takes the cake in terms of its history and beauty. The park offers tremendous views of Downtown Houston skyline and has a beautiful old iron fountain that looks like it belongs in a museum. They used to also have an amazing monument but it was sadly removed because of the cancel culture movement and its ties to the old confederacy. Albeit, it was built by a NY iron company. The Houston heritage society is also close by and does offer tours. There are also preserved houses from the original neighborhoods of Houston such as the house of Minister Jack Yates who is a Houston legend.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem while strolling thru downtown. Lovely park in the middle of downtown Houston. About 7-8 historical structures - houses and a church dating to early 19th century.

Pretty serene place for the most part. Nice views of the skyscrapers and old oak trees. This time not so much! It was time for the Art Car Parade! It was a great one this year. A little rain towards the end but was prepared.

We were here last week for the Bayou City Art Festival. I've been here for 30+ years and barely knew this park existed. Not only is it beautiful, but it is RICH in history. Super cool place to go to when you're bouncing around Downtown.

It's a nice little park with houses that were made and used in the 1800s. There's a nice pond with benches around it to take in the view of the heart of downtown Houston.

Nice place to use as a city venue. I've been there for the Houston Art show and the Art car Parade. Very nice when the streets are closed.
