Beautiful, well kept garden! There is free entrance and plenty of eye-catching sights to explore. Really enjoyed the nature and greenery of this area. Overall the garden was quiet and peaceful, during the morning hours of a busy weekend. Great for walking for solitude and photography area

Japanese Gardens in Houston is a 5.5-acre Japanese garden in Hermann Park, in the U.S. state of Texas. The garden was designed by Tokyo landscape designer Ken Nakajima and opened in 1992. A quiet and chilled venue surrounded by nature.

First off it was free so it’s already a ten in my book. The place was full of things to see and the mood was great, so serene! The tea house building was something to definitely look forward to. The amount of life that was in the park made this walk enjoyable (so many ducks and large Koi!) It was extremely photogenic.

Perfect little spot in downtown Houston right near the museum district. It's free which is very nice and they have benches, gazebos, some quaint looking bridges, and some streams. I especially loved the layout of the garden from trees to plants and flowers and best part of all was that most of the walkway seemed to be under shade which is a plus. A big surprise here was a squirrel it was the most friendly squirrel I've ever encountered we could almost touch it if we had food. If you are looking for a lovely little spot for pictures or just to enjoy nature I highly recommend coming here.

Japanese Gardens are such a peaceful place to walk around. Squirrels here are friendly, and will get close to you if you approach them. The Koi fish are stunning and huge, and the turtles are adorable 🐢

Stopped by to see the Japanese Garden while walking through the park on a Sunday morning. Walked around other parts of the park until the Garden opened at 9am. The park was very peaceful and tranquil. Every part of the Garden was well manicured and every part of nature was incorporated from the water, greenery, rocks, trees, etc... The Garden was free and perfect way to enjoy a traditional Japanese Garden.

Visited on 22 Mar 2023, and the gardens were nice. The spring flowers had not start flowering so the plants were not at their best. Still, a nice garden and worth a walk around. It's size is not huge, but you could spend an hour strolling around and see the small ponds, bridges and other displays. Thank you.

The Japanese Garden in Hermann Park, Houston, is undeniably one of the city's most enchanting paradises. While not vast in size, it exudes a heavenly and Zen-like ambiance that captures the essence of Japanese gardens. The trail, flanked by bamboo trees, immerses you in a setting reminiscent of Japanese temples and gardens, creating a serene and amazing experience. As March approaches, the anticipation of cherry blossoms adds to the charm, promising a breathtaking spectacle. Currently, the scenery is already captivating, and with the blossoms in full bloom, it's expected to be truly mesmerizing. Two small bridges connect different parts of the garden, spanning a tranquil river inhabited by large and beautiful Koi fish. Observing these majestic creatures gracefully swimming brings a profound sense of peace. The garden also hosts various animals, including turtles, dogs, and turkeys, contributing to the overall picturesque scene. This Japanese Garden stands out as one of Houston's best, showcasing Asian culture with its authentic features. I highly recommend a visit to experience the tranquility and beauty it offers. Personally, I'm eager to return and immerse myself once again in this delightful corner of Houston's cultural landscape.

A must see for Japanese garden fans! Beautiful and relaxing Japanese garden with a great variety of typical plants, small lake, waterfall, short trails. Squirrels come by and eat from the hand. Also close by to other park amenities and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

This Japanese garden is peaceful and clean. I came here during Japan Fest and it was a lovely break from the festival. They had a bonsai display during this time. They have plenty of plants and a lot of neat structures.

I read the some google reviews before I visited the garden. Maybe my expectation was too high. It is a very small garden without craftsmanship. Both men and women bathrooms were out of order. I love those aged Asian pine trees. They are so beautiful.

My family loved visiting this garden… it’s Free first of all and although it is not that big you will enjoy it very much! The other nice thing about it is that you can ride the train afterwards since you are already at Hermann Park. I highly recommend it.. we spent about an hour just enjoying nature and walking the cute trails!

A scenic zen garden to relax and unwind! Enjoy exploring the beautiful garden, scope the wildlife, or relax at any of the benches placed throughout. What a great way to step back from the busy city life and de-stress in nature. There are restrooms on site and trash cans available.

Great place to enjoy an afternoon break and stretch with the family. Such a peaceful place to just read a book and relax to enjoy nature there are restrooms but it is a public place so it may not be as tidy. The snack bars around close around 4 just be aware so you can catch some snacks before they close

It's incredible that hidden behind the zoo hides a place that takes your breath away every time you visit. . The trail around the park might as well be considered a walk-through safari. I was able to photograph rabbits, ducks, coy fish, butterflies, squirrels, geese, and lizards all within 30 minutes of our visits. During daylight savings, it closes at 5 and 7 p.m spring forward.

Very peaceful and beautiful. A lovely place to walk, sit, and watch the fish, and there is a tea room, though I didn't visit the tea room.

Super peaceful, clean, and pretty!!! There are nice and relaxing walking trails too! I really like the koi fish and turtles :))) The prettiest part of Hermann park!

Fun to watch the fish in the pond. The whole park is calming and has spots to sit and rest. Can get a little crowded and people come and have their photos taken, which clogs the pathways but overall nice to walk around.

Part of Herman park this part was a cool little looking area with a walking trail around a lake type setting. Nothing really special but if you are at the park it's worth a trip around.

Japanese Garden is fun to walk around, be with nature and experience that calm feel of a Japanese style garden. On a Tuesday it was quite busy with people and animals. The squirrels are friendly here, they will come close to you. Beware of mosquitoes, it can be pretty buggy.

Found this place near the museum on google map. So glad I found this place. It's peaceful and fresh. A great place for family or spend time in natural. There're animals like koi, turtles, squirrels, (birds or ducks?) It's one of my favorite places now. Give it a try!

Wow omg I have no words this Japanese Garden is huge and everything is connected they have a train🚂🚃 ride where it takes you through a whole tour and it has stops if you wanna get off some where else. Boats🚤🛶⛵ rides the are so nice and fun only 4 person per boat the tickets for the both rides are separate but is not to expensive. We bought the the boats and train tickets all together because the line gets pack.. No pets in the boats at all. Only service animals in the train. Your pets can walk as long as they're in the leash and there's different parks for kids to play it gets super hot I recommend dressing up casual or sporty and you can grill and have picnics and there's even a cool rose pyramid where you can walk but we didn't got the chance to do that yet. We will definitely be coming back to explore more because there's just so much to do. One thing I do recommend bring your own cooler with drinks and snacks for your family and your pets. All the food and drinks are just to expensive to buy in side the park. 8 dollars for two cans of sodas.😱😅 I you don't mind spending more money be my guess. Lol 😃 One tip go in the morning because you will definitely take an hour to find parking spot ones the time hits 11 a.m. ⚠️( Advice for everyone.... Don't be an @sshole if someone is waiting for a parking spot and you just cut in and take it away. Be more considerate because remember those are families with children the been waiting for a spot put the right example to your children so they learn the right way. )⚠️ I recommend this awesome and beautiful place 100%. 😁👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
