For families looking to fish.... go here! Great parking and picnic area. Plenty of trash cans to keep it clean. Take your kids and a few walmart combos and within a 15 minute walk up or down stream you can catch buffalo, grass, and common carp as well as channel and blue catfish. You just need some wonder bread balled onto a hook, or corn, with enough weight to keep it on the bottom. While fishing you will see invasive exotic catfish along the rocks, as well as gar and mullet jumping. Plenty of aquatic life to observe from turtles to birds. This park also has many other things to do. Ball fields, cut grass, frisby golf, parking, and picnic tables. There's many portable toilets on site as well.

Nice clean park. The bike riders at Tom Bass Park used the bike trail for the MLK day. The trail was nice. The MLK stature is beautiful with a walkway of historical dates of events in his life

Large park south of downtown Houston Texas, very clean well maintained. Feels safe. Go check it out it was my first time there and I enjoyed it and will come back again. I highly recommend this to anyone. You don't like my reviews please give me a thumbs up. Enjoy your stay at the park.

The park was free and clear of debris. The portable potties were getting stocked with toilet paper and actually getting cleaned when I was just leaving. The atmosphere was nice. The young man that was cleaning the portable potties put live into his job and wasn't just going through the motions. The playground had a lot of amenities for the kiddos to play on.

This is a very nice size park with two playgrounds. I wish that people would be less nasty and pick up their trash. It is better to go earlier in the day whenever less people are out.

It was a very cool experience. Great crowd of people. Everyone was chilling. Plenty of space and parking. Some of the entrances were closed but I was able to manage.

The 2nd Annual Art Bike Parade was held here, hosted by the Orange show, H‑E‑B and others. Mayor Turner was here too! This park has a lot of amenities, from a tennis club house, 9 holes of disc golf, plenty of picnic benches to picnic on. They redesigned the park a while back and added a sculpture of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. unfortunately that’s a decent “hiding” place for transients to relieve themselves, so it’s awfully smelly around there. The disc golf course stays muddy, unless it’s been a dry few weeks. Plenty of walking trails and a bike path crosses through the park, connecting UH to Greater Eastwood and the east end.

I like this park because I can park there for free and walk to U of H to escape the parking Nazis. I wish there was an outdoor calisthenics area like what exists on McGregor Road a mile away. People seem to like it there and play basketball. There is an indoor gym you can register to use in time slots on the park's website. So far, it has been safe to be there, and no one has tried to break into my old beat-up car. There are 3+ playgrounds, a running trail/loop, a pool, a baseball field, etc.

Nice quiet place to meditate and talk to God in peace. Also, a nice park to chill with a friend or significant other. You can exercise and get you total peace and relaxation on.

The thing that bothers me about this park is that I'm a DJ and my organization had a function at the park the day I was there. I couldn't play music for us because the pavilion had a plug that the city had made unavailable to the public. They took the socket cover off and twisted and capped off the wires. I guess they don't want tax payers using the electricity paid for with tax payer money.

Very well kept Park. Plenty of activities: Tennis, Volleyball, basketball, swimming, TSU baseball team's practice field and a place for the kids. Attraction, MLK JR. statue & plaza.

I took my grandchildren to the park it was a very bad experience, our adventure started on the bus I didn't drive thinking about traffic after reaching out destination we noticed no on going traffic which was great. However I brought the children to swim but they wouldn't let us in the pool they ignored our request to speak with them about the opening status on the pool we were told that the pool wasn't open due to lack of staff... They didn't have to talk to us so wreckless. Over all the lifeguard staff attitude toward patrons is deplorable,I've grown up living my summers àttending here I've brought up my kids coming here and now my grandchildren will get to experience the pool life or so I thought.

Enjoyed the parking area. Had a quick meal and conservation while sitting in auto. I Enjoyed the breeze of the trees wasn't crowded during this time. Family base which is really fantastic.

The location was good the park was a very nice place to have a family picnic without having to pay all these exorbitant prices for 2 hours. We were able to book the Pavilion with no problems. Clear cut instructions. Will definitely functions in the future.

I love going to this park during the weekdays (during the day). They have a tennis court, covered basketball court, pool (although the pool hasn't been open in forever) and frisbee golf area. It also has 3 Pokemon gyms, plenty of Pokemon stops and a ton of wild Pokemon to catch. They have barbecues and jungle gyms. During the weekends, it gets crowded and pop up car shows/racing/showing off makes it too rowdy to enjoy. They really need security or police patrolling to keep it from getting out of control and to direct traffic on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. They also need to keep all the gates unlocked during the day. I don't recommend going to the park after dusk, the are quite a few individuals (some unsavory , too) sleeping in the park or walking around at night.

Visiting from Arizona. MLK day the park was PACKED with HPD in cars, rangers on bikes. Stopping, watching at the playground area, why? Excessive police parole for a family day.

Had a great experience with my dude getting lunch and walking the track it was beautiful outside and there was no obstruction to anything we were trying to do we really enjoyed ourselves

See a lot of the park, but what I did see I enjoyed. Myself and one other were traveling by city bus at the time, late in the evening. We enjoyed the experience.

I go walking around the park occasionally and noticed the pool is not open. The noticed on the door said they need lifeguards. I found this appalling. It summer time and the community have no place to swim. That's not a good look😳
