This was my first visit to Shri Balaji Bhavan. All I can say is, "Wow! I loved it." The food was fresh and homemade and they cover Mumbai to Madras. You can have it super spicy or mild based on your preference. The value is excellent. I'll definitely be back.

There set up is typical Chennai restaurant style. First order and pay bill then table token will given to you keep in your table and wait for service call. Once the call your number you can go and collect it. Also you can back the items by your self. if it is order for table is more. Reasonable price and good taste.

Can't complain. They are ok. I have had better butter masala dosa and vada in Houston. Good part is they added a lot of butter. Downside was the not so crispy vada and bland chuney.

Absolutely love this place. It was our first time going there yesterday and the dosa's are the best we have had anywhere in Houston. The price was amazing and the staff were friendly as well. Will definitely be going back.

We ordered aloo paratha and it came with aloo only on the sides of paratha. When confronted to the person behind the counter she said chef and receipe have changed. We have been coming here for long time and this is unacceptable not sure if i would like to go again. The logic of chef and recipe changed is kind of shocking because basic aloo paratha anyone would know comes with entire aloo filling inside. Have recommended this place to lot of people before not sure if i will do that anymore.

Walked in at 1PM on a Saturday. Restaurant was quite busy but found a table easily. The server handed me a many and told me to order at the counter. I ordered Rava Masala Dosa, it came within ten minutes. Very hot and fresh. Potato Subzi was very tasty and fresh as well as the coconut chutney. Sambar could have been a bit more spicy. Although busy, restaurant and washrooms were very clean. If your not too familiar with South Indian food, they have a picture menu. Would definitely recommend. Fantastic value for money.

Returned to this restaurant after a few years. There have been some upgrades to the location. Went with a party of 7 and while there were only about 10 other customers, service was a little slow. They also seemed to pick and choose whom to provide table service for, ie., deliver food to. Had to remind them about stuff that was already ordered and paid for. The food was pretty good overall and served hot. The variety of items available and low prices more than speak for themselves. Definitely worth a visit for authentic Indian vegetarian fare. 09-12-20 Visited today after a long time. Even though we are in the middle of a pandemic, service has improved dramatically. Food was served hot, fresh, and tasty. All staff were friendly and the visit was well worth it. If you haven't, you must visit. The restaurant has all COVID-19 measures in place along with social distancing of the in house consumers. You will not be disappointed, guaranteed!

First & Last time. Seems, what I ordered is precooked food with same used oil. Reviews are based on the food I ordered ( Idly, Parotta & Kuruma, Poori Bhaji) only Dosa item is okay to eat since that can’t be precooked 🤐

When in Houston for me this is a must visit. Besides having the best dosas, their vegetarian South Indian fare is prepared authentically (spice too 😜). This time around I went two consecutive days even though I am literally on the opposite part of town. Idli, Dosa and Sambar one day, Papdi Chaat, Pani Puri, and of course another Dosa the next.

The review is based on my two visits to this place. We tired multippe dishes and one of them was Tamarind rice. It was bursting with tangy and spicy flavors. Cooked with tamarind juice, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and a variety of aromatic spices, the dish was a distinct sour and slightly sweet flavor that was unique and unforgettable. The rice was cooked to perfection, each grain perfectly separated and infused with the flavors of the spices. Kachori was crispy fried pastry filled with spiced lentils and potatoes. The outer layer was crispy and flaky, and the filling was well spiced and flavorful. The kachori was served hot and fresh, and the flavors of the filling melded together perfectly. It was accompanied by a tangy and spicy tamarind chutney that balanced the flavors of the kachori perfectly. Mango ras puri was delightful experience to eat. The crispy puris (fried bread) soaked in a sweet and tangy mango sauce was a bring-back moment of memory for me. . The puris were perfectly fried, and the mango juice was sweet and tangy. The sabji is not that flavourful and it has nothing to do with the taste of it. Because I have a habit of eating little spicy sabji, and that was not. So can't complain.

We had been a usual customer here and liked the food but today, after a break of a couple of months, was disappointed with 1. Final cost was almost $10 more than the menu depiction which was neither communicated nor updated on the menu card, when asked, was verbally told the prices have gone up!! There was no detailed bill so must request that to avoid customized pricing.!! 2. The quality of chutney and sambar have gone down, watery.!!! (Those used to be my favorites here) So management, kindly do the needful.
