Simply getting worse I am a regular customer for 4 years now The employees are poorly trained They pour water and dilute the sambar I have heard this and seen this from one of the employees. The Rava khichdi we ordered for about $8.00 had1/4 of the usual portion This was on 6/29/23 The sambhar had only water We have informed the food quality inspectors at Fort Bend

This review is based solely on my experience and personal opinion. We went to Saravanaa Bhanan in Sugar Land, Texas, on Monday, 10/25/21. This was our second time at this location and I had never taken the time to actually review this restaurant. Absolutely a MUST if you love Indian food! FOOD:The food always taste the same! can be a lil more spicy or a lil less spicy, but regardless the food tastes amazing. They do Managers, cooks and waiters rotation, so you might experience a slightly different service, but the food will ALWAYS taste the same! traditional SOUTH of India cousine, I can guarantee! most of the times we get the "special Meal" and it is just to die for! there are 10 different samples of their cusine and they all have a different taste. mind blowing! They do southern India Traditional cuisine and they use many fresh spices. My favourite meal is the Special meal that you can see in my photos, it gives you a chance to have a great meal, fill yourself up with great food and give you the chance to try and discover new flavors and new flavor combinations that you would have never thought possible. Their cuisine and flavors are pure Magic!!! RESTROOM: nice and clean. STAFF: they always have a manager, one or two waiters and few busboy. They were all very nice to us, checking every now and then if the good was good or not and if there was anything else we would love to try or eat. CLEANLINESS: The place was clean, no dirty tables, no dirty chairs or benches. The floor was spotless. The glass of the windows is always very clean, something that you will actually enjoy. great job! PLACE: it is a very nice restaurant with many many big windows that allow you to actually see outside and enjoy the view. There's plenty of tables and comfy sofa/benches that you can pick... they have boots for couples of bigger tables for families and friends. they have an "aquarium" kind of kitchen so that you can see inside and watch them cook your meal (if you are interested). PRICE: I think their prices are just within the average and the Special meal is cheap. a very fulfilling, satisfying and amazing meal for just $13. CONCLUSIONS: We will definitely go there again, especially if we pass by or stop by Sugar Land Tx. If you go, DO NOT FORGET to try their signature drinks: the HOT CHAI, HOT COFFEE or the sweet MANGO LASSEE... just Thanks!

Was really looking forward to their Thali meals but unfortunately it was tasteless. Other dishes we had ordered were slightly better but the curries have no flavors whatsoever. Have had much better vegetarian restaurants.

Overall though Saravana Bhavan has a good name , but here it is extremely expensive and food is ordinary. Only pros at this place is its cleanliness. All others are cons here. Food portion is very less and they cost a fortune ! The taste is not great or authentic. This particular branch has an elderly man who takes orders , but unfortunately not a gentleman and thinks they are serving food for free. Know that you are only serving people after getting a fortune of money and learn to behave and treat customers as customers let alone treating them as Gods !

I have visited Saravana Bhavan in Chennai, Kanchipuram, New Delhi, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Toronto, and every location in the US. This chain provides consistent taste, prompt service and freshly prepared food served in an Impeccably clean environment. You will never have any trouble after eating their food. Amongst all of SBs I have visited, my favorites are Alandur (Chennai) and Sugar Land (Texas). Although all SBs have identical taste (and in most cases menu too), Sugar Land SB is my favorite because of the staff. Manager is personally paying attention to the guests, and staff is quick to respond. Their special meal is generously sized and instead of you having to ask for extra serving of day curry, manager or his staff will be asking if you need anything. For the Indian population it serves, wait time is under 5 minutes (compared to smaller SB in Plano, TX where it could be 30+ minutes on Friday/Saturday). Most SBs have a congested layout, not this one. Not only this location is spacious, the ambiance is pleasing. As I said, all SBs have consistent menu, taste, cleanliness and this location stands apart for the personalized attention by the manager and staff. Whenever in Houston, give it a try.

I have been here twice now. Just love it! The people are warm and inviting. All the food is fresh and made to order. Don’t go here when you are in a hurry because it takes time to cook your food. It’s a dining experience. The second time I ate here I took my mother. She couldn’t beleive how good the food was and neither one of us got sick. She and I have food sensitivities. The waiter asked us about ours. The owner came out and helped us choose dishes. There was plenty of food. I even had food to take home. The flavor was amazing. My 79 yo mom loved that it wasn’t overly spicy. I like coming to Saravanaa Bhavan because it’s vegetarian. There’s not enough vegetarian restaurants in my area. This place is really a treat. You don’t need meat to feel full and satisfied.

This was worse experience We travel 30miles to this restaurant Never judge closing time they close kitchen 30 minutes before closing and store food and serve that food to customers We went on Saturday closing time was 10:30 we reached at 10 and we order food they said kitchen will close now so order what and all you want to order so based on that we ordered masala dosa , maysoon masala dosa, and they combo 1 ( which comes with korma, chole and paratha) Now when order came everything was cold like they just put it on table from fridge. So i would recommend not to go one hour before closing otherwise customers will be served with cold dosa and they put warm stuffing inside Other issue was with their combo plate In order they brought chole in both bowl so we asked them in order it mention as they serve chole and korma with paratha so they said they are running out of it. Like how ? If you are running out of food how can you take order ? Their cashier guy i dont know name but i can describe him as one south india male He was not avtive and not aware of what is available or what is going on in restaurant

One of the best South Indian restaurants in town. Good hospitality, amazing taste. Best place for family dinning. I personally like Rava dosa, it’s so crispy and tastes yum.

Food was very poor. This is not at all Saravanan bhavan quality! Adai was very salty. Meals wasn’t great. Rava dosai was okay.

Authentic South Indian taste. Food is really good-Not too spicy. I would recommend paper dosa and spring dosa. Paper dosa is huge almost 2.5 feet long and served with 3 different types of chutneys and sambar. The quantity of sambar served with dosa are very Less and they do charge for extra sambar which is free at almost all the other local South Indian restaurants. Service is decent takes longer then expected time to serve food. Filter Coffee is over rated and costly.

Authentic South Indian food, absolutely my go to place, when I am craving for Masala Dosa. Thali is also very good. Staff is friendly and nice. Mistakenly ordered dinner from another location, staff made sure we got our dinner!!!

Good place for Indian snacks. They have variety of Dosas - choice paralysis. Service was okay. For a service giving place, the servers should have a welcoming smile and not look ever so tired - that need a definite improvement. ToGo order of rava masala dosa was messed up, the packer had packed the masala in the dosa - 100% restaurants that we ordered Togo will wrap them separately- to prevent the dosa from being soggy. Had opportunity to dine in. Choke bhature is great. Overall good place and tasty food.
