A quiet and hidden sanctuary by Beltway 8 and Memorial Dr. For easy access (direct trail access), park at the Memorial Methodist Church and look for this entrance (see pic). Small but peaceful. Beautiful trees, nature, steams, birds, fishes, and more. Do carry powerful bug sprays else risk donating blood to giant mosquitoes (lots of them out there). Trail is mostly shaded. Can get muddy after rain. A peaceful, nature and a zen haven in the midst of Houston. Trail map in attached pic.

For a minute you are out of Houston. You are in foliage amidst birds, squirrels, cottontails, armadillos, turtles, geckos and the like. It's serene, peaceful and a great place to relax. We visited on a weekend in Summer at 2PM. Other than the humidity it was pretty nice going. There is an entrance on the church lot with plenty of parking. There are some mosquitoes as well. Regardless, this is a simply superb nature preserve. We had a blast. It is quite small but we still ended up spending 2 hours and some change here. There is a cabin, a pond, beautiful trails and bridges scattered about. We had a wonderful time. There is something alluring and magical about this spot and we will likely be back soon.

Who would have thought, in the middle of city life’s (hustle-and-bustle) BEAUTIFUL NATURE EXISTS. A splendid hidden gem, filled with life. A Great family hike, surrounded by greenery, water, and much more. This is more than a park. It’s beauty.

This was a quiet little piece of nature in the middle of a neighborhood. It's not the place to go if you are looking for 100% seclusion away from the city. There are parts of the trail that literally back up into people's back yards, and streets are visible from sanctuary. However, it is a great spot to take a break, breathe, and get a quick dose of the outdoors. It's also completely shaded by trees. Downsides: - parking can be very cramped - we saw people ignoring the "no dogs" sign. It would be great if there was someone to enforce this. - there was trash, plastic bags, and beer cans along the creek...sad to see :/

Enjoyed our first visit here. The place was smaller than I thought and we didn't walk much, but the sounds of nature like birds and water (creek) were really soothing. Watching birds and squirrels at the feeders was fun, too. We parked at the church's East Side parking near the entrance to the sanctuary. We'll be back.

It's a beautiful place to enjoy a nice walk, the trails are gorgeous, lots of birds, turtles and squirrels, the trails are easy to follow and with useful info. The cabin is so pretty and there's a public and clean restroom. Lot of space to sit and enjoy the tranquility of the nature. We really loved our visit.

This nature sanctuary was a beautiful experience I was expecting I thought it was small but it is pretty good size. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful place to come and relax the mind. I saw rabbits and different kinds of birds I've never seen before the only thing I do recommend is not to go a day after it rains cuz it does get slippery. Check out my pictures I took!

This was a super cool area.. nice walk and all the nature is awesome. The bayou that runs through here it's really nice to go after the rain. Just a little muddy.. but not to bad the kids loved exploring and trying to find snakes... Luckily we didn't find any snakes today but the kids were really trying to find one.. we encountered a lot of squirrels. And bird's are nice .. if you have time come check it out very exciting place.. and the cabin was really nice to take pictures in front of

***PARKING***: At Memorial Dr United Methodist WEST ENTRANCE. The current address will not take you to the parking lot. FYI beautiful trail though. It reminds me of a mini forest or mini Terry Hershey park. 😂 It probably takes 4 hours to walk the whole trail. Bring bug spray. Didn’t see much birds today (Apr 2023) and the ones I did see flew so fast. Saw lots of squirrels!

This is a charming retreat smack dab in the middle of town! Perfect place to take a walk in the middle of the day if you are not a fan of the Houston sun beating down on your head. The whole sanctuary is very well shaded with an abundance of trees and there is a creek-Rummel Creek. If you are driving, park in the church parking lot and use the pedestrian gate. There is no parking for visitors on Wilchester.

I was surprised at the scenery and how pretty it was considering its location. Also, not cumbersome in that it's long enough to be worth it, but not too long as it will take too long to complete. My only complaint is the adjacent road noise, which can't be helped. We aren't local, so this is my first park where there is a surprising amount of highway noise. It might be the least peaceful park I've ever visited, sadly. Also, please people, don't trash your trails. There is too much trash by the water areas and it's sad to see those who care so little about these places.

This was a gorgeous walk with lots of shade, bridges, and lovely views of the creek. A beautiful owl greeted us upon entry.
