Good cuisine, great service, nice ambience! The food was good and tasted different. The presentation was very well done! However, a few key things disappointed me. The sauce over the steak was too covering and couldn’t enjoy the steak. Besides, the steak was overcooked, when I asked for a medium rare, and smelled not fresh. The dessert was nice! Interesting! It is an expensive place and I’m not sure if it’s worth it - there are definitely better places for better price and quality. Good for a date tho. The drinks look nice, but the great Margarita ($29) is not worth it.

Today is my very first time ever to come to Xochi.👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😋 The purpose of our visit was to celebrate a family birthday and I can honestly say we were so glad 😀 to have a very positive experience that quite frankly it exceeded our expectations. Our server Villaseñor gave us outstanding customer service and gave us insight into the menu choices. The entire staff was so helpful and we had a really nice table inside a room with glass walls. The food was different from what I have had previously from other Mexican restaurants. We enjoyed our food and we had an opportunity to explore a new type of cuisine from southern Mexico 🇲🇽 that is very hard to find in Texas. We decided to be adventurous and have the ant 🐜 mole with crispy crickets 🦗 . It was fun and adventurous since we have never had an opportunity to do this before in our lifetime. The food is prepared by very good chefs and the quality of the food is excellent. Just as you should not judge a book 📖 by it cover you need to have an open mind to taste great food you never tried before. I enjoyed our dinner and my family experienced an unforgettable new and pleasant experience at Xochi.

My husband and I loved this place!!! From food to presentation to service it was all PERFECT! The food is just amazing and so different, everyone was so kind and our server Carlos was fantastic! He was kind and knowledgeable and helped us make our date night one to remember. If you go here, make sure to try their signature dessert. It was so yummy!!! Overall we had a fabulous experience and we will definitely come back!

Xochi is located in the Downtown Marriott Marquis and is not your average hotel dining experience! Named after Xochitl, the goddess of the flowers, Xochi specializes in the authentic cuisine of Oaxaca, the culinary capital of Mexico. Chef Hugo Ortega celebrates the flavors of Oaxaca with a creative edge, delivering exquisite flavors, artistically plated. Perfectly crafted cocktails will also wet your appetite. A carefully curated interior compliments the well perfected menu. The service is friendly, fast and knowledgeable. A wonderful dining experience that will be sure to have you wanting to return again!

Phenomenal! Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend you try this place. We ordered the octopus, and that octopus was cooked to perfection. If you’re looking for a good octopus 10 out of 10 recommend. The other food I also ingested that day was absolutely delicious. I cannot wait until my next trip to this restaurant.

Unbelievable nice experience. The food was excellent and the drinks were great. Especially the Xochi-Rita was outstanding good. It was a pleasure to be with you in Houston. The food was very delicious, octopus and the scallops were on point and juicy. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Greetings from Germany.

Wowowowow. Holy Mole you guys knocked it out of the park. Would recommend a million times and want to come back tomorrow with my parents. The food was some of the best food I've ever eaten. My husband doesn't like mole but he gobbled it up. The food is very reasonably priced, and the portions were much larger than I anticipated. Came here for an anniversary lunch and got a complimentary champagne and dessert. So very sweet ;) and thoughtful. The staff was all very nice and knowledgeable, and able to tell us all about the menu/ingredients. We can't thank y'all enough and sincerely can't wait to come again very soon.

I had the absolute time of my LIFE!! I sat at the bar expecting to get drinks and an appetizer from the happy hour menu and move onto the dining room, but Carlos the bartender was so sweet and attentive we stayed for the entire meal!! Get the oysters 2 ways!! So worth it! Everything we ate was amazing, and the drinks were even BETTER!! Service was the best I’ve ever had. Will definitely come again.

If you're gluten-free and love Mexican food, this is a great place. I came with a group of friends and we enjoyed the evening very much. The food was good but not the best Mexican I've had. Oddly, for the pricing of this place, the presentation was lacking. For example, the mole tasting, which you would think is a premier dish for them, came disheveled with disposable wooden spoons for each mole. Another example, the steak was solid but nothing special except maybe they poured some mole over it. Although I'm not a dessert person, I would say the chocolate dishes were the best of the whole menu. I am grading on a full 5-star scale and do so with an implicit price-value curve. I am aware that many others on social media may grade on a 3-point (4 being an average score) or 2-point scale (4 being a poor score), but the fact remains that Google gives us a 5-point scale. To me, 4 stars is great, 3 stars is average and 5 stars should be rare - reserved for true excellence or near perfection.

Food was incredible. Ordered all based on recommendations of bartender who was super helpful and informative. 3 small plates - beef cheek, some stacked thing with pork, and some croquettes (which were finished with crickets!!). Each dish was super well seasoned and composed. Best food by far I had in Houston.

Xochi is the best of the best. Hugo Ortega has built a dining dynasty in Houston and this restaurant is the crown jewel. Each of his other places is unique and excellent, but this is where he food and drink offerings really shine. Everything is creative, delicious, and inspired. Do not miss the chocolate dessert featuring the chocolate cacao pod.

Stopped here on a work and had an amazing experience. April the bartender was very knowledgeable and recommended traditional Mexican dishes. I had the beef cheek mole, the spicy tuna tartar and roasted pork shank. Every dish was presented elegantly and service was very fast. For dessert I had to order the cocoa. The whole dessert is edible with various different chocolate ingredients. It was decadent. Highly recommend.

Holy cow this place was delicious. Everything was incredible. The staff was superb and the ambiance was lovely. The margaritas were fresh and tasted like the ones we had last time we visited Mexico. The pork shank was to die for, tender and delicious, it fell right off the bone. The cacoa dessert is a MUST try. It’s a white chocolate shell with all types of chocolate deliciousness inside. And don’t forget the Mexican coffee that was dreamy with the chocolate dessert. Run, don’t walk to this wonderful restaurant! We WILL be back.

It starts as a casual husband nag, stating, I told him to make a reservation 😌 We were visiting to celebrate our 11th anniversary. The hostess was great, and she was kind and informed that she could get us an outside table. The food was beautiful and delicious, and the service was impeccable. It was a crowded day, so needless to say... Make reservations. Please don't risk it to be on the safe side. Thank you, Xochi team, for always staying on top of your game and making us feel loved on our special day.

Delicious experience! I stayed at the attached Marriot hotel for a conference and went to Xochi with some colleagues for dinner. Service was friendly from the hostess to the table and our server was very, very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing, from presentation to flavor. Surprising and delightful! You can't go wrong with a place that has its own chocolate menu. 😁 5+ stars!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary dinner here. The food and drinks were amazing. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired though. It’s not a very romantic place.

Visited this modern Mexican restaurant in downtown Houston, and it was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was top-notch. Carlos, our friendly waitress, took great care of us and provided excellent recommendations on what to order. We'll definitely be back

Truly one of the best Mexican restaurants in the United States. It is hard for me to pick a favorite because everything I had there was incredibly good. The service was exemplary and the ambience was ideal. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

It was definitely an experience. The service and food were more than perfection. I kid not when I say as soon as you’re done with your meal they come and pick the plate up. The servers are extremely kind and very helpful when it came to suggestions. The food and the drinks were unbelievably delicious. The valet were also very attentive and kind. This restaurant is a jewel in the heart of Houston.

Our anniversary at Xochi was fantastic! The Restaurant Week menu was carefully crafted and paired perfectly with Mezcal drinks. The duck with mole was a standout, bursting with rich flavors. The city view from our window seat added to the charm. Xochi's location in Houston's heart is ideal. We're planning to return with our kids next time to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine together. A memorable evening indeed!

Wow! My boyfriend and I had dinner at Xochi while visiting Houston this past weekend and it was one of the best meals we’ve had. The service was exceptional, the food was unique and delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. You can easily see the amount of time and care that is put into each dish. We ordered the mole tasting and aguachile de maracuya to start, split the crispy duck for dinner, and had the cacao pod for dessert. I also ordered a cup of cafe de olla with dessert, which I recommend. Everything was amazing from start to finish. I highly, highly recommend a visit - you will not be disappointed!

Scallops were great, tender and juicy. The potato filled corn tortillas were also delicious. The other menu items were a little lacking in the flavor department though, especially the enchiladas.

Omg this place is underrated! Authentic Oaxacan Mexican food and cocktails are both absolutely fantastic and the servers (we sat at the bar) were very helpful. My wife started with the Houston Strong margarita, which was great, but she ended up stealing my Spiced Pluma marg and then ordering another. It was amazing. She had the Tlayuda de Hongos, which was kind of like a flatbread, and I had the Octopus. All excellent. Cannot recommend this place enough.

One of my favorite restaurants in Houston. The vibe, and the Oaxacan cuisine is amazing! The food speaks to your senses with its fragrance, bright colors, and pleasant flavors. I have been to Oaxaca; we are lucky to have this restaurant in the states which stays so true to its origin of cuisine.

We celebrated a birthday during Sunday brunch and the entire experience did not disappoint. When you're accustomed to eating the finer foods from Hugo Ortega, this is one place you won't want to miss. Sunday brunch offered a lot of assortment for vegetarians as well. My favorite items were the Chicken Tamales, Brisket with Mole, Vegetarian Rose Mole, Zucchini and Mushrooms, Elotes, Chicaronnes, Banana & Mole, that creamy guacamole, crispy churros, Alfajores and the Tres Leches. Everything was freshly made and the staff worked diligently to ensure the empty hot trays were constantly refilled. Something to remember, the buffet items do change throughout the year, so some of things listed may or may not be there. The wait staff here is impeccable. I've been here twice and they are always so wonderful, cheerful and efficient. Plates are consistently cleared off after you finish each plate, tables are constantly wiped down from crumbs or spills throughout your dining experience, and drinks are always refilled without having to ask. Lastly the servers always bring you a new set of clean silverware before you return to your table. It's a very beautiful restaurant with lots of natural light coming in through each side. The seats are comfortable and the ambiance is upbeat..

Xochi is for far the best Restaurant of the Chain. The food is outstanding, great Atmosphere. But what makes this Restaurant stands is the Service. Servers Not just provide excellent service but creates experiences that you will never forget. Ask for Francisco or Virgilio. I guarantee they will make a unforgettable Time.

You’ll not get wrong with any drinks and desserts on their menu! The drinks we ordered are alcohol free, for which I’m very happy with what we got. Because for some other places, you still feel the alcohol in the drinks when you told the waiter you’re allergic to alcohol. Love all the desserts we ordered. Hopefully they can have more items on the brunch menu 🥰

Visited Houston and a friend recommended this place because it was unique to Houston - read the reviews and it was worth the trip! I was more interested in the chocolate dessert. If I this would not have been a short trip, I would have taken the chocolate dessert home and finished it. It was heavenly, pure, chocolate decadent. Food was a bit pricey, but it was the experience. The place was packed with patrons!
