The gym and facility get 5 stars. Lots of equipment and great area. The cancellation policy gets 1 star. Can't be too harsh since it's probably the best gym for the price in the area. Just be sure to walk in and cancel after contract expires or they will charge you indefinitely, even if you never go. Follow up response: Just because you review the policy beforehand doesn't make it a responsible and sustainable policy for members who have 6 months to 1 year to forget about the policy.

I found out today that they are closing this nice , clean, friendly place after 20 years. I was so surprise and sad, there was no notice nothing. I feel sorry for the people the work there who LOST their jobs, no several pay, NOTHING just sorry we are closing, Please do something about the people who work there for 18 years or more, they have no Job, no money , NOTHING this is so unfair and so horrible, you had dedicate people who worked there for so LONG, they deserve better, I know for me i feel sad, i know i have to look for another gym, and I wish they have get every body a notice, but i most feel for the people who LOST their JOBS, this are people who only depend on this income. IM very disappointed and sad.

I’ve been considering about doing this review for several weeks and finally just did it today. I was here at the club earlier in March and had an absolute horrific experience. I went downstairs to ask Scott the operations manager to turn the music down and told me that wouldn’t do it. The music is so loud that it’s very hard to take work calls during the day, and also very tough to hear your own earphones! As we were chatting about this, Scott’s wife who is a trainer here stepped in and rudely told me that the music was not loud enough. She was very rude, aggressive, and extremely unprofessional. Our conversation became very heated and she continued to argue with me. She then has the audacity to chase me down on the gym floor and taunted me for about 5 minutes and even went to turn the music up louder pumping her chest and making a huge scene. Extremely traumatizing event and is incredibly insulting to a customer that pays $100 / month. As an employee of a business, she should know that this type of behavior is unacceptable. I have cancelled my membership and will take my business hours elsewhere. There’s too many gyms in town that are much cheaper and have 10x the customer service.

I really liked this gym. Worked out here for over 2.5 years. Can't believe they just closed down the gym without any warning, not even an email. The members and staff deserved more than that.

In August I will have been a member here for a year. The cons: old machines, cardio equipment is frequently out of service—it always looks like the same machines too. Also the foot straps for a lot of the bikes are broken making the machines unusable. Wish I saw some improvements made during my time here. It’s also pretty pricey. Considering the machines and the price I’ve been thinking about canceling. Other than that I love the sauna and it’s convenient for me to work out here.

Great gym! The staff is helpful when you are new to working out. They guide you when needed. People at the gym say hello, which is cool. The classes are included with your membership! I found that super useful. Ask for Jorge, he’s pretty helpful. Chiseled with Cynthia is such an amazing class; she’s super energetic and cheerful.

I love coming here! This gym offers so much to do from classes to a sauna and even a cycling studio. I take kickboxing classes weekly and Ben, the trainer, never fails to miss a class. I also love the sense of community and how friendly everyone is. If you’re looking for a gym to call a second home.. this is it!

I am visiting from Oman for a few days in Houston as a stopover before going to college station for business. I needed a good gym to workout for these few days and decided on the fit athletic club. This place is amazing! It's huge and clean and spacious, and the equipment is of the best quality. George was the nicest guy! He allowed me to access the gym for these few days for free! The best deal you could get at a high-end gym like this. I really appreciate the kindness and hospitality, and I always appreciate a good workout session at an awesome gym..... Thanks George

Great community of all types of abilities. Coaching staff is very knowledgeable and easy to approach with questions. I like that they have lots of other resources inside the gym too. Recommended!

FIT Athletic Club is an excellent exercise facility and a hood addition to the neighborhood. Large space, extensive and up yo date equipment, great trainers and friendly staff.

PERMANENTLY CLOSED. My previous review: Well this is it, I’ve finally found where grownups work out. This well situated club has a great selection of workout equipment. Plenty of weights. Dumbbells that go up to 150 pounds (maybe more??). Because they shut down their downtown location the gym literally has twice the equipment you would expect. It’s a tiny bit cramped in places but still it’s awesome to have so many alternatives when training. Monday to Wednesday evenings rush hour 5-7 is pretty crowded but still not too bad. If you can do a lunch or early afternoon workout the whole gym is yours. There is plenty of cardio equipment. separate training studio / area for CrossFit and others who want to train in private. Dance studio and a cycling studio also are on site. The locker rooms are clean in fact there is someone CONSTANTLY cleaning I mean CONSTANTLY. It’s amazing. The gym floor is also organized and someone walks around and keeps things organized. Free towel service for gym towels and showers. Combination locks on lockers. Steam room, dry sauna, private changing cubbies with doors, soap and shampoo in showers. Plenty of trainers on site if you would like personal training sessions and I ve sort of met them all and they are the nicest folks. A cafe area, a lounge area are also amenities on site. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There is no pool, there is no day care. In fact if you’re super young or if you have kids this gym is probably not for you. If you like to talk chat socialize at the gym and bring tripods and record yourself this isn’t the gym for you. Come here if you really want to work out. End of story. My only regret is not joining sooner.

Love this gym. My first time visiting, Jorge was super helpful and friendly! He gave me a tour of the facility and even showed me where all of the equipment was, so I felt comfortable during my workout. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. In a great location, easy parking, and was not over crowded when I went. Had every piece of equipment you need and then some.

This a good gym. I can't say that I have been to a lot of gyms, but this place really presents itself very well. It also does a good job of maintaining the basics. The front staff are friendly and helpful. Te equipment is well maintained, clean, and modern looking. I tend to frequent the treadmills and I can attest to the quality of the machine and its performance. The place also maintains a decent air conditioning system and has multiple water dispensers that have ice cold filtered water. The gym also has a great location. It is easily accessible from Waugh or Gray and has plenty of free parking. Lastly, if you want to grab a bite to eat after your workout, you got options in the gym and from the nearby grocery stores (Whole Foods and Kroger). Give this place a shot. They even give you a free week trial to try it out!

Phenomenal experience every time I come. Hard to find anywhere with the perfect mix of old-school free-weights, CrossFit equipment, body building machines, and cardio. Staff was very accommodating, especially Jorge.

Nice clean spot with all the equipment I needed to get the job done. Friendly staff along with some cool locker room extras like razors towels decent soaps. I'll definitely be back

I absolutely LOVE this gym. Spent about a year here before moving to Austin and I had to stop back for a day while I was in Houston. I genuinely miss the staff here, everyone is so so so nice. This gym has literally every piece of equipment a person could need, is incredibly well managed - and is squeaky clean. 10/10. Go here, period

Just joined and I love this place. Clean everything. The equipment is amazing and there’s a ton to choose from. A ton of classes to choose from as well. I do love the little cafe they have for meal preps and shakes.

Here for the summer and got a membership to the gym. I go almost everyday. Although it can get busy, the staff and teachers are all really cool and fun to be around. The locker rooms are always spotless and the sauna is a great way to end the day.

Great location. Nice variety of equipment. Plenty of cardio. Nice view of downtown. Open floor space, not cramped. There's a steam room and dry sauna but no pool.

The fit athletic club is a complete gym with very friendly staff. It is my second week here and I am impressed with the equipment selection. The culture is also great, I’ve met many of quality people here. I’d definitely recommend!

This gym is great, friendly staff, new equipment, well conditioned, there's towels and water dispensers, many classes, their functional area has it all. I really like this gym!
