I just quit this gym. Not because I didn't love it, but because I was leaving town. If it hadn't been for that, I'd have stayed forever. This is what a gym should be like. No complicated membership. No hard-sell. No schmoozing trainers. Just clean, well lit, loud music, and plenty of equipment and free weights to get the job done. You like machines, they got 'em. Free wights, got 'em. Cardio, (whatever...) they got that too. Into the basics: deadlifts, squats, bench press, they got that with plenty of bars (not bent), racks, benches and plates to satisfy the biggest bro. No bumper plates, though. Oly guys need not apply. Otherwise, Steel Mill is your good-to-go gym. And after the hard work is done, two well-maintained bathrooms with showers make a guy ready for whatever comes next. When I had to cancel, the guy behind the counter just asked my name, looked me up on the computer and said, "Ok, you're cancelled." Easy as pie. Just like it ought to be. Thank you Steel Mill! I'll miss you.

So the gym itself is pretty great! Awesome vibe and if you’re looking for a judgement free workout this is the spot. However, a two star review is warranted for treatment/misinformation here. I’ve been rehabbing a serious shoulder injury with my personal trainer for a while. I went into Steelmill knowing they have their own PTs and clarified with their front desk who’s signing me up whether I can bring my own trainer. I was told that I could do that as long as I paid the guest fee (which is absolutely fine). Fast forward to today where I’m being trained (and we’re not even trying to hide it or be cynical) and one of the other trainers there came over to us and was quite rude. I feel like that really could have been handled differently and I could have absolutely moved on and trained there without my PT. Unfortunately that experience really soured me on the place and I’ve chosen to unenroll from Steelmill. I’m hoping this was a one off but still wanted to post this for others.

I was doing DB flys in front of the mirror and I got approached by a regular saying if I don’t stop staring at him we’re going to “square up”. I’ve been working out for a decade plus and I’ve never had an issue with one person. Management said it was escalated by both parties because I wouldn’t shake his hand after the incident. I asked to speak to the owner and manager refused to give me his information. Don’t go unless you like fist fights. Cancelled my membership immediately. Not a safe environment to better yourself. I would recommend any other gym.

Best gym in Heights area. Membership cost is not bad given the 24 hour access and great amount of equipment available. Staff is very friendly and helpful too.

I had my first workout today at the gym and it was great. Overall great environment and the staff I encountered was super helpful. Shouting out Max at the front desk in particular, he made my experience even better. Definitely recommend checking out SteelMill!

This gym has been my home gym for over 2 years and I love how everyone here is friendly and helpful. The equipment is always kept up and clean and it is such an inspiring place to train. Always have a great workout and never busy like the corporate gyms. I love to support small businesses and SteelMill is a gem in the center of the city.

Been going here almost 2 years and love it. A huge part of that is my trainer, Tyler Picard, one of the best trainers in the city if you’re looking to take your fitness goals to the next level.

I love this gym. It's a mental zen place. The gym is a low key neighborhood spot that you can go to and put in work without worrying about crowded equipment or interruptions. I've seen around 10 people here at once during peak hours, which is plenty of room to move around. Outside of peak hours, you can have the whole gym to yourself. This is a simple, clean, organized gym with free weights and workout machines. It has lockers, two bathrooms with showers, a meal prep area, and "chill areas". The owners are passionate and competitive in body building, so the equipment they carry is also evolving. There's a coffee shop next door, tables and benches out front, and couches inside if you're waiting on your workout partner, need to load up on energy before a workout, or want to rest after a workout and talk to others. The members here range from beginners who just want to learn to be and look healthier, to competitive bodybuilders; everyone is different and everyone here is friendly.

The owners of this gym are two of the most laid back, understanding people I know. I was working out at Steelmill one afternoon and the gym had great vibes, the owner came up to me after my workout and asked how my workout went and we talked it up about fitness/bodybuilding. Both of them are very knowledgable and went out of their way to be polite and make me feel welcome. I definitely signed up for a membership the day I came in, but I would pay for day passes every day if I had to. Honestly haven't heard anyone say anything bad about this place yet, the gym is clean and well-organized and the owners are always open to conversation with clients and really add a welcoming feeling to the gym. Needless to say this was an unbelievable experience and I am so pleased with the treatment and professionalism displayed from this establishment. If you're in Houston, you HAVE to check out Steelmill. (Oh, and I would put 100 stars if I could, but Google only lets me put 5)

Love this place. It's basically a box gym with heavy stuff. If you're looking for cardio, it's not your place, but the people are super friendly and trainers are AMAZING! I have been training with Molly Miller since September and she has literally changed my life. Not only have a I seen crazy results in my physical appearance, but she has helped heal my relationship with body image and around food and I am forever thankful to her for that! I highly suggest not just joining this place but also signing up for some sessions with the trainers.

Cool little spot if your looking for something different than the typical global gym. I dropped by before a flight out of IAH. You can tell the owner knows what good equipment is. I would definitely make somewhere like this my home base if I was local to the area.

Good gym but please turn down the music some as most are working out with headphones.

My go to gym in Houston. Great equipment and staff. It’s a little rugged, so don’t go expecting something like Lifetime or something.

This gym has all the equipment you would need for powerlifting or strength training in general. Trap bars, chalk, safety squat bars etc. In my opinion it's the best powerlifting gym in Houston.

As a girl I always feel very comfortable here ☺️ The staff is very friendly & the equipment/cleanliness of the gym is kept up with. 24/7 access is great for my crazy schedule. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great gym, 24/7 access, reasonable prices, all the free weights you could ask for. Just serious lifters here, not a bunch of soccer moms and soft-bodies taking up space.

Steelmill Gym is an awesome iron banging gym. Has all the lifting equipment a bro needs to get shredded. Also has one seat for a barber to get you a nice clean cut after your workouts. They don't deal with contracts and offer day and monthly passes. Would recommend if you're in the Houston area to work out at.

This breeder is amazing... we were able to bond with our puppy and visit each week. When we took him home, he was almost completely trained in many areas. (Bark, bite, peepad). I have called her many times and he is always available and like he said, customer service for the life of the pup.

Great gym - friendly staff, great equipment, enjoyable classes. The staff, instructors, and even other gym members are all very approachable if you have a question or need help. Would recommend this place to anyone

😠 This place is a disgrace. The two lat pull-down cables have been broken for over three weeks and they look at me like I’m crazy for thinking they should be repaired. Most of the other equipment is either broken or missing. Even at $15 per month, it’s too much.

👍👍 I have been coming to Fitness Connection since April and I'm glad to say that I lost 30 lbs. It's a really big and nice gym. The perk is that they have a sauna. This gym also have many machines and cool classes. The workers there are really nice and knowledgeable. This gym is a keeper.

😠 By far the worst maintained LA Fitness Gym I’ve ever been to. Most of the Leg workout machines been out of order for almost 3 months. They just stopped caring about fixing because the gym is always packed and they’re getting their monthly dues. Literally there’s just one machine for leg rise Workout...
