Do not ever stay here. The location and room is great. Service and their communication was terrible. So, there is a $50 incidental deposit per night that you have to pay, normal for a hotel. I am staying 2 nights so that’s $100. That’s fine. Front desk tells me I will get that back after my stay, cool….. What they don’t tell you is that the deposit is used towards your self-parking, $30 per day so $60. On top of that there is an additional $20 hotel fee per night that is added on TO YOUR DEPOSIT. That’s $50 per day and $100 total of fees that they will not tell you……. This was never communicated. So that “deposit” that you pay and that the front desk tells you “You will get back after your stay” will NOT get returned to you. Literal scam. Everything else was fine. But just don’t expect to see that deposit ever again

The hotel is in an excellent location. However the rooms are average, bed are not comfy, and the amenities in the room are below average. The breakfast was made with powdered eggs and the food from the restaurants was not very flavorful. Bar drinks are great. The pool is not in service and the whole point of my stay was to take my daughter to the pool. When I asked for them to recommend a sister hotel for me to stay in instead, the best they could do was recommend that I buy a day pass to the Omni which is 21 and up only. 3 star hotel at best with 4 star prices. I will not be back here.

First of all, let's start with the good: The location of this hotel is very convenient, and access to the Galleria area is easy from here. The location is the only reason why this hotel gets 1 star. The service at this hotel is not very good; the staff is only slightly friendly but not helpful at all. The answers to questions from the hotel staff were rushed and not informative. If you have a problem, you have to seek out the staff, as they do not make themselves available. You can tell that maintenance is not a priority at this hotel, as the lack of it is noticeable. My room was not very clean, and the furniture was stained and worn down. I would advise anybody considering staying here to look at other options besides the Royal Sonesta. You do not get what you pay for at this hotel. The quality and value is not consistent with a what one might expect from a hotel of "this caliber".

I stayed here for my birthday vacation, and I’m SO glad I did. First off, the staff was top tier, especially at breakfast. One of the hosts in the restaurant there greeted everyone in their language. The waitresses were so nice at the ARA Breakfast Lounge and everything was so delicious. My room was very clean on arrival and had a great view of the skyline. Location was perfect for me and my boyfriend. Everything was within a 10 minute Uber ride, and it was near the highway so going back to the airport was no trouble, even though that drive was longer. I really could go on, but I’ll just say this. I will be staying here again and have made it my business to have a yearly trip to H-Town. This was my first time in Texas, and they made it a great stay.

Spent an entire day locked out of my room because the card reader died and no one responded until the third time I asked. I couldn’t access my medication which almost resulted in a medical emergency. The room was also not clean, you could tell that it hadn’t been vacuumed in between guests, plus the bathroom was half cleaned and grimy with dirty mirrors and soap scum. The room I’m in also has a loud mechanical noise that wakes me up every few hours. The hotel food is mediocre and very expensive. Definitely would never stay here again.

It's a about a 30 min ride from IAH... the exterior is grand, interior lobby is low-end lux.. the rooms, well the prices explains the room but I don't think it's anything to complain about, you get what you pay for right. The bathroom needs to be updated, the tubs are very out of date, and the toilet is in need of an update also. Not too bad, but I don't go on vacation to hang out in my room all day. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a log. They do have a restaurant for breakfast and no free parking on site. If you do eat breakfast... the pancakes are delicious!!

Good location. That's about it. It's clear from the moment you walk in that this is an old hotel that is run by several different companies trying to wring out as much money as possible from each guest. Very little info when you check in the front desk. I had to ask where the elevator was and every other basic service. You have to pay for parking. You have to pay for any breakfast. There's a "destination fee" of $22+ per day (whatever that is). They put super cheap Ozark bottled water in your room and expect you to pay $4 per bottle if you open it. The refrigerator in the room didn't work. We asked for a microwave which wasn't there so I had to ask when we got there. They did get one - the smallest, cheapest one I'd ever seen. I could go on but you get the idea. Good luck trying to call and get the front desk. You'll get a 3rd party management company who may or may not be able to help you.

We've always had a good environment & service while working events at this location. Close to many popular destinations & eateries in Houston. Just off the second loop in the city. Traffic can be bad at times, but outside that, getting around town from this hotel is good. Rooms & food are the only things that I have to say that this hotel needs to work on. Recommend.

This should really be a 3 star hotel not four. Customer service was phenomenal . The lobby looks beautiful. The bedroom was underwhelming . You can tell this was an old building that was renovated. I expected more like a standing shower, no carpets in the room and complimentary breakfast. You have to pay for breakfast. Other than that it was a decent hotel. Oh and parking in the garage is $26 a night plus tax.

I have stayed in Houston many times and I typically always stay in the galleria area. I will say hands down this will be my new “go-to” hotel as long as it’s available when I’m in town!! Valet parking was only an additional $10/day charge then regular parking ($40/day total) which was well spent. I never got a chance to enjoy the bar or restaurant because I was out playing in the city. But the staff, parking attendants and room attendants were so friendly and kind. My friend said the store was very big and had a huge selection. I am ready to plan another trip so I can see the pool (I was busy lol) and enjoy another stay.

I am genuinely confused why this hotel gets ratings above 2-3 stars. From the mold in the tub, grime on the shower head, hair found in the sink (cleaned it before getting a photo), the smell of cigarette smoke on my floor, the tv not working all night (every 10 seconds the message poor signal pop up on the tv). I watched tv from my phone. My pillowcases were not cleaned. I could smell the last person’s scent/cologne on them. Not even free drip coffee was offered in the morning after such a poor night. Do yourself a favor and stay at Hotel ZaZa. Just trust me. It’s an entire different level of hospitality and cleanliness. The only reason I gave it two stars is because it was quiet.

I'm at The Royal Sonesta near the Galleria, .. conference. Very professional and chic looking hotel. Great high end feel. The ballrooms are spacious, .. and the AV is quite modern and technical. If you get a chance to visit ... do it for sure!

I wanted to love this hotel. After seeing the photos and etc online I went with this location. But it was underwhelmed. Pros: great location which is a plus! Cons: overcrowded and noisy, mediocre food, pool unavailable, terrible pressure in toilets (which is so gross), terrible pressure with water. Customer service wasn’t the best either. Nothing about this hotel was four star. I’ll try another hotel next time.

The rooms were a little cramped, but the bed was comfy. There were some cob webs that I could easily see that their staff should see... every staff person I dealt with was friendly, responsive, and professional. My only complaint. I think it's preposterous to tell people they have to call each day to have their room refreshed due to COVID when most of the staff are walking around not wearing masks!! On our fourth day we called for the room refresh and nobody came. The housekeepers went home without addressing our room. We were out of towels, coffee cups, etc. We pay for the service and shouldn't have to ask for it...

I started to leave 3 stars off the strength of the staff, but after reflecting over the issues I had, it's a 1 star and do not recommend it. I came in on a Friday with a friend for a concert. The check in itself was quick and easy, and the woman working the front desk was nice. I was given the keys to the room and took the elevator up only for the door to the room to be locked. The keys provided worked, but it seemed as if the deadbolt was locked from the inside, so we weren't able to get inside. This was incredibly frustrating coming straight from the airport, lugging around our suitcases, etc, just to have to go back down to the lobby. The front desk was immediately able to get us another room on a different floor and was apologetic for the mishap. When we got in the room, it was underwhelming. The room had a drawer in the dresser holding up the TV meant for a refrigerator (and labeled) but there wasn't one, the furniture/ sofa was tattered and one of the main lamps in the room didn't work which left the room dark. Being exhausted from the travel and the mishap with the previous room, these seemed to be minor inconveniences, so I left it alone. When I went to shower, there was an issue with the drain that caused the water in the tub to not drain properly and it basically built up as if I were taking a bath. I was fed up by this point, so called the lobby with what was going on. Someone came up and was able to get the shower fixed, but the damage was already done and a horrible impression left. I will say the staff was incredibly friendly and if there was anything needed (extra toilet paper, toothbrush, etc) they were prompt and eager in helping, but even the friendly staff and it being close to the galleria, restaurants and stuff isn't enough for me to recommend the hotel. Stay someplace else.

This place was beautiful for holding a conference. The food was pretty good. The amenities were a different story. We paid for the top corner room with the concierge lounge but guess what? We were there for the weekend but the lounge wasn't open on the weekend.. In the room as well as the public bathrooms, the toilet seats were so low to the ground it's like they were put there for children. Watch out for those bathrooms too. The far wall in the shower looked like it wasn't cleaned in months.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. Upon arrival and entering the hotel, it seemed very nice. Our first bad experience was the rude clerk at the desk who was going to cancel our reservation due to my husbands card not working. (It is card with a chip. They only had a machine that swiped. However, the card worked perfectly all weekend.) He didn’t even offer to enter it manually until I asked him to do so. The room was decent. The view was good. Very little to no hot water the whole weekend. The pool is located on the 5th floor. Not the roof as some people have stated in reviews. Spend your money at a nicer place for the price of this hotel.

Royal Sonesta was Amazing! Room was very Nice, although the headboards could be replaced. Other than that the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. City View at Night is Beautiful 🌃. The Lounge was very nice and servers on point. On top of all that me and my son got a pic with an NFL Legend!!

Pretty decent hotel. We'd visited another location in New Orleans on Bourbon, and it was really nice! Thought this one would be equally as nice. Wasn't bad. It just needs sum updating. The staff was really nice and ready to assist. Had a nice bar and coffee shop. The only real downfall was the outdated rooms and the fact u have to ask for room service or ur room does not get serviced. Also, if u want it serviced (as we normally take as a given), u have to request it before 1pm. No one informed us of either when we checked in. 😕

The inside of the hotel is beautiful and the view from the room of the sky was nice. My overall stay was good as I was attending an event. The front desk clerk was rude, though the rest of the staff were quite pleasant. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Nestled in a convenient uptown location, this hotel offers walkable access to the Galleria mall, Waterwall Park, and a plethora of restaurants. While there's ample parking available, it comes at a nightly cost of $30, ensuring easy access to the hotel entrance. The rooms are decent, but some furnishings, like the TV, show signs of wear. Inside, "Ara" restaurant serves a satisfying breakfast (Paid). The staff, including receptionists and restaurant personnel, are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

REAL REVIEW: Checking out 11/15 @ 11:20am Houston RS. This is the first time staying at the R.S. The room has no USB or DC outlets. Hair and period stains in the sheets, and after overlooking that, the Head Manager on my checkout day, wouldn't honor the (AAA Package Deal), I was given via "their" online reservation. I had to call the RS reservation myself, (he refused), put them on the speaker phone just to verify with this manager. They also tried to charge me for parking, and I didn't use their garage -- and on top of that, they still wouldn't honor $15 OFF meal coupon on my last day. Granted, after a stressful 45 minutes delay to my destination, they deducted my balance. I will NEVER, stay here again! Their systems are disconnected, unclean rooms, and now I'm driving away disappointed and hungry. The only take away was the spectacular view of Houston at night, but at 200 a night, you have to expect that.

Not sure how this place has multiple 4+ star reviews but it DOES NOT have the amenities of a 4 star hotel. The pool is small and concrete, sitting outside of an outdated and poorly airconditioned fitness center. The inroom coffee is basic, and the provided toiletries are subpar. The rooms were outdated and dirty. I was there for a work related conference, and would not recommend nor stay there again.

Great place to stay while traveling. I was there on business for a week. They provided everything you need. Their food was excellent and the bar was always busy. The breakfast buffet was pretty good but a little pricey, but pretty good, with really great service.

  • 4/5 Paul W. 4 months ago on Google
How does a 4 Star hotel advertising a mini-refrigerator in each room just not have any refrigerators? We had two rooms and could "only" get a refrigerator for one after asking. We frequently had to wait for several elevators to pass since they were all full of people. Not all the elevators were working. Also, they didn't have a restaurant open in the evening to serve dinner. The only food you could get was in the bar-lounge after 2 PM.

  • 2/5 Terence D. 6 months ago on Google
Great location, but that’s about the only great thing about this hotel other than the nice lobby and lounge area. The rooms are quite dated and somewhat shabby. Could definitely use a slight renovation considering the price. They charge $30 a night for self parking and a $20 “convenience” charge per day, both of which were not advertised in the booking. This is unacceptable. Also, requesting room service was akin to pulling teeth. Never have I had such a hard time trying to order breakfast, and when they finally answered, I was met with ridiculous fees on top of that. You’ll be better off DoorDash-ing Snooze, which is around the corner. I honestly can’t recommend this hotel in good faith, and I personally don’t plan to stay again.

  • 4/5 Savoya W. 10 months ago on Google
The room was clean and nice. The only few things to note before booking is their rooms do not have microwaves. We had to warm our food in the lobby while seemed strange and was an inconvenience. They serve dinner in a lounge setting, out in the open instead of in an elegant restaurant setting. Given the status the hotel claims to be this is a definite must have especially given the price point and location. Additionally, they do not have a lot of amenities such as spa, pool etc. The bell person was not readily available like they should be. Parking was okay but the key card didn't work most of the times so we had to call for assistance. The hot water was scarce but not a big deal. Each front desk clerk was awesome, I definitely appreciate the courtesy and professionalism they showed.

Great location and clean room. I really enjoy the fully equipped gym, but the service at the front desk needs to be improved. On the night of 8/4/23, I asked the front desk employee to open the mini mart, I have to get dental floss. The man on duty said there is no dental floss. I went to the mini mart the next day, there were plenty of dental floss for sale. At check out on 8/6/23, I informed the front desk that room 2026 had no warm water in the shower the night before, the same front desk employee looked at me with no apology and gave me my final bill. Without asking, this employee went ahead charged to the card on file not on the card I wanted to be used. I wanted to complain about my experience to the manager, but my Uber ride has arrived. I will be returning to Royal Sonesta in December, I hope this front desk employee will be trained with professional manners.

No one told us that the room vouchers had to be used each day and that there is a shuttle that can be used to go within a 3 mile radius. We paid for tons of Ubers because we didnt know. Also, the elevators were faulty. We got on one elevator it took us to the sixth floor and stopped. We couldn't get off. We presses the emergency button, and no one came to help us...yet when we finally got off the elevator they were at the from desk chatting. We were also told when we called to complain about our room not being cleaned that we had to request a cleaning. No one informed us of thos during check in either. The elevator is the biggie for me.

I nearly missed out on this fantastic room, but a quick check on ʜᴏᴛᴇʟᴅᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ made all the difference. This is a nice hotel with a great staff. From check-in to the time we left everyone was great and helpful. The pool is on the 5th floor on the deck. The valets are also wonderful they were friendly, unassuming, and informative. Lennard was one of the best of the staff. He was quite helpful and understanding of my concerns. He made me feel like telling people that if you want a great customer service experience, this hotel is the place.

***Absolutely wonderful staff!*** The room is clean with a lovely view. We brought our 9 year old to Houston to attend a concert for her birthday. We are delighted we chose to stay at the Royal Sonesta. Tony (at the front desk) sang her happy birthday at check-in. Also, the staff brought up a large bowl of candy and lemonaide for our birthday girl!! She thought that was one of the best things ever! --It's so nice to stay at a hotel that cares! Thank you again 😀

Food was small portions and expensive only thing worth the price I'd say would be the chicken wings on the menu. Room Was nice and comfortable staff was really nice and helpful had no Issues with them only issue I had was trying to call from the room to Order room service they never answer the phone so Your gonna have to walk downstairs. Cause I called and was hung up on 10 times receptionist reconnected me several times. Other thing I appreciated was the soap dispenser in the shower it's nice to have the pump wall Hang dispenser so you don't have to go down and ask for the tiniest bottle on the planet. Good if you use alot of soap to get clean.

had to make a last minute change of plans and ended up staying at this hotel.Front office staff were great! Nelli Palucho went out of the way to make our 20-year anniversary extra special, all the hotel staff were very nice and helpful, the bed was very comfortable. The gym and pool/jacuzzi are excellent!!!

The hotel itself is beautiful for company gatherings or weddings. Service is quick and impeccable. Beds and pillows are comfortable. My only drawback is their AC is on a motion sensor so the room gets hot when you leave it and it got hot on us in the middle of the night when we were sleeping and of course, motionless. After conferring with colleagues, they experienced the same issue. While I am all for energy savings, not when I am sleeping please.

  • 2/5 Awad R. 2 years ago on Google
Not worth the money! We were there for 2 nights for a wedding but were very disappointed in the room size! Very small rooms and the showers in the bathroom have no pressure whatsoever! We booked 15 rooms and all rooms were very small and every guest complained about the shower! THEY HAVE THEIR OWN GARAGE BUT CHARGE $25 PER NIGHT FOR PARKING!!! You can stay across the street for much cheaper with free parking and bigger room! Staff is friendly but they definitely need to look into spending some money on shower heads!

So this is rated a 4 star hotel, but I’m going to say that it was very disappointing. Stayed for 4 nights. Front desk personnel (Nelly) was extremely rude and insulting. Upon picking up my Uber eats from lobby she decided to yell from the desk to ask if I was delivering. I was holding my key card and had been waiting in the lobby for almost 10 min. When I replied no, I’m staying here with my key card held out. She continued to stare and look me up and down. When I got back to my room I called the front desk to relay that her behaviour was rude and insulting, she then proceeded to tell me that she didn’t apologize, because she didn’t have time and when asked her name for reference she stated she didn’t feel comfortable and initially refused. She ended the call by saying that she had another call to take. Next night, there was a party raging in some of the rooms until 2am. Although housekeeping services had been reduced, but there was no attempt to replenish room with coffee or water. At check out time no offer of concierge service to help with bags. Overall, I would say to check the many other options in the area before booking.

Great location. Good bar and restaurant options in the lobby. Rooms and amenities are average. No microwave oven in the room. No plates or glasses or silverware if you take out food. Great views though

The manager (I believe) of Axis Lounge in the hotel was the kindest person I have yet to meet. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his name so I hope this gets to him somehow. I really appreciate how kind, professional, and accommodating you were when asking my partner and I to move because a private event was happening this evening where we’d been seated throughout the day. You were amazing!!

I attended my employee LOYALTY LUNCHEON at this location. ♡*25 YEARS*♡ The grounds were beautiful. The staff was professional and knowledgeable. We had our event in the ballroom and the food was delightful, and refreshing, and the waitstaff was very attentive. There is garage parking onsite and they did validate for our event. Valet parking is available and their crew was very professional. If I ever have the opportunity to stay overnight... It is a beautiful hotel.

We stayed and the rooms weren't what we really expected. Our air conditioner didn't work in the first room nor the coffee pot. In the second room the coffee pot would come on but not heat the water. Constant issues with the self parking gate. I was told the parking charge was included with the room. After arriving home I seen they tacked on a $70.00 parking fee for self parking. In the end I tacked on too many fees and then having to purchase coffee downstairs on top of it. I was very dissapointed for the price we paid per room to have on so many extra charges.

I had the opportunity to attend the AmSpa boot camp and Luz was the light of the catering staff! She was so kind, and you can tell she loves what she does. It’s rare to meet a team member of the catering/service team so impactful and eager to help. Thank you, Luz!

Super impressed with this hotel and staff. Lala and Randolf went out of their way (literally) to take great care of me with a special request I had. So many establishments have nonchalant or robotic service and it was refreshing to receive top tier service and care. Well done!

What a lovely stay! The staff is quite efficient, helpful and courteous. My room was spacious, sparkly clean and quiet; the bed was quite comfy, there were plenty of towels and the water got hot, not lukewarm like other places I've stayed. However, the food in the little cafe is overpriced - I didn't try the restaurant so I don't know how their prices compare. I would definitely stay there again, in fact, I look forward to it.

I stayed here for a business meeting. Wasn’t my choice so I decided to make the best of it. Hotel itself very nice, the staff on the other hand was why I gave it only 3 stars. I get it help is hard to find but if you do get help make sure they comprehend English. I understand you want to pay them $2 an hour to maximize your profits but there’s a cost to that. I left my garbage cans out to be emptied, the cleaning lady was there I saw her she saw me. After a few hours I came upstairs and my trash was not empty. After a few minutes I went downstairs and explained what happened to the front desk. She said she would call her and let her know. When I returned to my room the garbage cans were not outside my door when i opened my hotel door my entire room was cleaned without my permission and NO FREAKING garbage cans. I went downstairs and told the front desk what had happened and they said they would find out what happened. They never told me. Also, was double charged for a coffee in the cafe. Didn’t realize it till the next day. Went back the next day and she’ said she would give me a free coffee to make up for it. Finally the shuttle driver looked so miserable every time we went out for a ride. Overall not impressed and won’t be returning. My room was nice comfortable bed with plenty of room for storage. You have to request a microwave which I did. Refrigerator was nice and cold. Water pressure was excellent.

I had to stay down in the city for work and Janito, Front Desk Director, really helped me out in a pinch. He was able to book a room for me over the phone and within an hour I was tucked into a beautiful room with a great view of downtown. The bedsheets were SO comfortable - buttery soft. The make up remover packets came in clutch and the coffee in Launch was the perfect pick me up. I can't say enough at how convenient and helpful the staff and location are. Thank you, Royal Sonesta Staff! You really helped me out and gave me a cozy place to rest. I will be back!

This is a nice place, but nothing stands out to me about it. The rooms are good sized and clean, but the building appears old. The AC in our room was not great, and we even kept the shades/curtains closed all day. Came back to a warm room. Listing said we had a fridge in our room...we did not nor did the people we traveled with. The cabinet that was supposed to house said fridge was broken and had "cigarette" burns on it. Beds are okay, but nothing great.
