This is an excellent Beach. The seventy-two hour camping option is perfect. Free sites, just park along the dunes. I was a little nervous as high tide approached, but the area where we where parked was fine. The waves stopped just below us. I love that you can still have campfire here.

Yesssss! 100000x yes! This is a free camping beach and it’s absolutely beautiful! It was a little littered which made me sad, but it is gorgeous. It’s easy to drive in and out and wasn’t too crowded. One word of advice: bring mosquito spray. The mosquitos are terrible! Other than that, we had the best time and are already planning our trip back!

It was stunning, a big beach for all of us looking to just do what we want. We camped there over night and watched the moon rise and listened to the surf lap the shore. Then we awoke to the beautiful ocean view. Our son said "Did I die and wake up in heaven" to the sight of his first Ocean experience. Very high praise.

It's been a minute since I was last here but I'm planning my 4th trip here next month. I love this beach. When I had my converted bus this was by far my favorite place we camped. It's the one thing I've missed about living in Texas and will forever be cemented in my brain as my favorite place to camp

For somebody originally from Alabama, being able to park alongside the beach and camp while visiting was unheard of to me. Mind-blowing experience, I can't wait to go back with more than just myself! Slowly falling in love with Texas! Beautiful beach. Starry nights are just as incredible 🀩

So I live about 30 min away .. took me an extra 9 minutes to get there because of the traffic that's trying to get into Surside coming from Hwy 332. When you get there there is tons of algae and debris. Mostly driftwood [lots of it] right on the beach. So you have to park on the dunes side or on top of the debris. It was packed on a Saturday afternoon in June. I could not find an appropriate spot to park. Mostly because I don't want to be too close to other parties, I like my space. So I had to drive on Bluewater hwy and take the last beach access thats closer to St Luis pass. There was plenty of room and not much of people, cars, buggies and dogs running around. No portable toilets either. There was plenty of algae still but not to much debris. The water was warm and sort of clear (no snorkeling poor visibility) and the waves were medium to small. Had a good relaxing time.. I'm hoping to go back again next week just to go hear the waves and read a good book.. I think it deserves 5 stars but I took one off for the algae and the lack of portable johns. .. oh i almost forgot: Do not forget the sunblock. Texas sun is unforgiving. Just a fair warning .

So amazing to open your door and see the beautiful gulf. We spent 5 days on the beach, it was perfect. Highly recommend this experience.

The Place is clean and nice and better than Galveston you can enjoy a lot, do camping and yes security is there. But recently Portuguese Man O' War was seen there so be careful and enjoy.

The beach was freshly raked by the county. Great place to park walking running on the beach. Great place for family fun.

Always breezy, so you can take the heat, clean, good swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, kite flying, friendly area, we try to go here once a year, more if our schedules allow. Only down side. Bring bug spray, mosquitoes really bad at night, breeze or not. All in all a great Family place to camp or rent a cabin.

Great place to camp its free and you can drive right onto the beach and set up camp just make sure you stop at Walmart there in town before you get out to the beach cause there isn't a store around for miles

We could walk 20 steps to my car. The beach was great. Great waves too. It was a blast for the children.

Went there this Sunday. The beach was filthy, trash everywhere. All the trash cans also were over flowing with trash. But the worst thing was dog poop everywhere. I saw so many overnight campers with their RVs, so I guess these folks don't pick up after their dogs. That's what I get for going to a free beach that allows overnight camping for free. I won't be going back there anymore. For now on I'll stay at my usual beach on Galveston Island!
