Worst place ever to have kosha , so much over hyped , I’ve heard so much about this place from a lot of people and social media platform but this place is so bad . The mutton is so undercooked , the chewing gum is softer than the mutton . Never ever to have it here , the paratha is so thin that it sunk in the oil from mutton . Doesn’t deserve even a single star . AVOID THIS PLACE

Heard so much but it was a total disaster. Tried mutton kosha and chicken liver. It may have been a place to visit once but I think most people will agree that it’s not worth it anymore. Over hyped and also the quantity in that price point is not right. Let’s not even talk about the service and ambiance (😑)

Edit. : Removing one star because the mutton isn't as soft as it used to be. And the portion is too less for the price point. Amazing food. The whole ambience of the place takes to a new level. Although seating area is a bit cramped it all makes up in the taste of the food. Must try is the mutton kosha.

Only an overhyped place... Neither the ambience was good nor the food so called famous mutton kasha and the paratha as well. Total waste!

I had heard so much about this restaurant that I needed to visit and have the authentic Golbarir Kosha Mangsho. The mangsho (mutton dish) had a lot of oil but tasted brilliant. It was very delicious and lipsmacking. The parathas could have been better and had they used a little less oil in the mutton dish that would have been better. The onions that were given to us were rotten so we had to throw them away. I would request the concerned person to please look into this as their brand name is getting hampered due to this

Holding Kolkata old Heritage and nostalgic vibes. Mutton Kosha ( Mutton Curry), Paratha with salad and special chutney tried here. Very Spicy but I am not aware of their past quality but this was down graded. There was no meat, all bones. The food this are is an a wooden type of plate. In terms of price, both quality and quantity will disappoint. Too much oil add to dish which is traditional but dangerous for health.

This place has a legacy of serving good cooked mutton in there own style. The mutton is cooked well tastes awesome and has a very good aroma to bewilder ur senses. The only drawback is the place is very congested but then for good food food lovers can go to any extent.. They serve mutton with rice, with Paratha and u also have a variety of choice such as mutton chop , mutton cutlet and so on. They serve mutton as kassa , keema, liver fry and few other items. Location can be traced with Google maps. Kindly give a thumbs up 👍 if u liked the review and did benefit from it👉👍

The restaurant may be having history previous but not now it completely waste of your time and money I have came from so long to kolkata and at 4th day of my trip I went here with alot of expectations but it's a completely disappointed me i have take mutton khosa₹260 with 2pcs parota ₹37 totally they charged me ₹297 without any proper bill and the was not cleaned the waste plates will be beside or back of you🤮. All they given is mutton bone with some rasam taste is good but giving bones is not at all worth the price & history Recommend if you want to try mutton khosa better try it in other restaurant

Price overrated. Quantity is really small comparing with price. Taste is normal. But if you taste " Mutton kosha ", it's totally bone majority. Mutton kimaa is good. Mutton Cutlet is fine but price overrated. Don't visit 😂

Pros: If you want to go for having "The grandma Style" mutton kosha, with the special unique tincture of flavour. Go there. Cons: Brand name = price. Nothing much. A place to visit one time only. NB: The place is too much hyped. But I must say there are far more better places at low rates. But anyways food is food. So cool one.

Golbari is a heritage restaurant situated at Shyambazar 5 point crossing, Kolkata. But in nowadays the restaurant has lost its status due to their quality of food. The Paratha(Parota) is very thin and the meat items are so much spicy and oily. And the price are too much according to the quantity of food they give. This is totally my opinion. Others may have like their items.

Well what should I say , most of the Bengali people from Kolkata do already know why this place is popular.... their signature dish black mutton kosha & thin Paratha, now if you ask me taste wise, of course it is good, specially the black gravy, but the thing is recently i tried again but the mutton wasn't fully cooked, it was very hard, couldn't chew it, too much oily, maybe Durga Puja is coming & there is crowd everywhere & demand also,so they are in hurry probably, definitely wanna try it in off season once again , the space is so small , you can't move much, plus they only accept cash payment no online payment accepted. With time everything is getting upgraded but unfortunately this one degraded I think. Also wanna mention they serve pre-paid only.

Not so good at all. Taste of mutton is good but the quantity is not sufficient and the mutton pieces are small in size. Although it has historic value the place is so small to seat.

Heard a lot about this place, finally came and tried mutton chop, omg blew us off, 3 for 3 people is a LOT. Taste is superb and it's a cute little neat place. Holding Kolkata's old heritage, this is one such place. Beautiful. I loved it. Go if you haven't already.

Not very pleased with anything. Average food quality. Had expectations not going to lie. But the classics disappointed and the food wasn't cost effective at all. Ordered Porotta and Mutton Kosha. The mutton pieces were disappointing, chewy and fully fatty.

Golbari: A legendary outlet serving one of the best Kosha Mangsho in the city. Golbari, an unassuming eatery tucked away in the legendary Shyambazar area of Old Calcutta, is not just a place to dine; it's a living legend. Situated on the edge of the iconic Shyambazar 5-point crossing, this century-old establishment has stood the test of time, serving its legendary Kosha Mangsho to hungry souls across generations. Originally named New Punjabi Restaurant, the affectionate moniker "Golbari" emerged due to its semicircular building, and despite its Punjabi roots (established by Ratan Arora), this eatery has seamlessly woven itself into the cultural fabric of Kolkata. As a melting pot of diverse cultures and cuisines, Golbari has become a cherished institution, celebrated for its age-old culinary traditions. Upon entering Golbari, one is transported into a bygone era, where disciplined queues await their turn to partake in the serious business of savoring Golbari's legendary Kosha Mangsho and Parantha combo. The mutton gravy, a work of culinary art, boasts a dark hue, a velvety texture, and an explosion of mouthwatering masala flavors that linger on the palate. The star of the show, Kosha Mangsho, is served with perfectly paired paranthas, onion salad, and a tangy tamarind chutney that elevates the entire culinary experience. While some might find the paranthas a tad oily and stretchy, the savory delight of the Kosha Mangsho compensates, leaving taste buds in sheer pleasure with every bite. The humble surroundings and traditional setup add authenticity to the dining experience, making Golbari a haven for those seeking a genuine taste of Kolkata's culinary heritage. The juxtaposition of cultures in this eatery reflects the spirit of Kolkata itself – diverse, accepting, and deeply rooted in tradition. Golbari is more than just a place to eat; it's a nostalgic journey through time, a tribute to the enduring spirit of Kolkata's culinary landscape. For anyone looking to indulge in the soulful embrace of flavors, Golbari is a must-visit destination that promises not just a meal, but an unforgettable experience steeped in history and taste.

Taste was fine but the size and quantith was very less. Its not at all worth the money and is hyped more than it should be...nothing as special as everyone says. Not the same quality anymore. Street foods and other restaurants are much much better and affordable. Very disappointed.

Food Quality not up to the mark, quantity very small, mutton is not soft, gravy is slightly bitter in taste..really not recommended,... Another important remark this is cash only restaurant, they dont accept cards and online payment as written on their board. Very disappointed

I was very disappointed with the mutton kasha dish I ordered from this restaurant. The dish was unhealthy, as it had excess oil that made it greasy and unappetizing. The quality of the meat was good.. I expected a better standard from a restaurant that claims to serve authentic cuisine. I do not recommend this dish or this restaurant to anyone who values their health and taste buds. OVERRATED!!!

Don't know where I read about it but I required a nice hike through a cool part of the city from central Calcutta so I figured I'd make this my dinner goal. Small hole in the wall shop but excellent mutton gravy/curry with roti. As others have said, lots of oil but you only live once. Excellent and well worth the experience of going up for it!

  • 4/5 Pinki N. 7 months ago on Google • 14 reviews
Good taste but can be more hygienic and could be better quality...very much oil and spice...oil is in very much quantity in paratha and mangsho as well. Taste is good. Parathas are over priced you have to eat 3 parathas if you want to do even a evening tiffin...because parathas are very thin and priced 11/- per pc..which is much more. Kosha mangsho 4 piece 260 rs. And it's worth it. They charge 20 rs for the plate which can be lower. And they charged something like 15 rs for some onion. Taste is good, behaviour should be better, oil could be less, the parathas can be a bit more long and thick as per price, seating areas should be large.

I won't approve of the taste as it has been famed for past 50-60 decades. The taste is somewhat below average. I ordered Mutton Kosha, but it was anything excellent. It tasted bitter, and the parathas were so chewy. Chicken kosha is fine, but nothing to be tried for another time. Service is good.. Overall, not so impressed.

Golbari was a heritage earlier but nowadays they aren't. I heard about this restaurant from many many people but this place is totally worthless. They charged heavy prices for every item and the quantity was also very less compared to that price point. The muttons are not as soft as used to be. Very Dissatisfied

Visited the place after 20 odd years. It was quite a nostalgic moment for me. I could connect with the same taste after so many years.. Golbari Kasa Mangso is what makes the place famous and the unique taste cannot be matched with any other preparation I feel having travelled over so many places across the globe.. Trust they continue to hold onto the legacy .

(Translated by Google) The sky bursts with the name. Personally, I did not like it. The price is much higher. If you want to eat, you must take dishes and bowls from home. Here is the price of the dish that will be served. disgusting. disgusting.

This is a small cabin concept restaurant. Space is too small, overall at a time 6 to 8 people can sit.we ordered fish fry, chicken cutlet and mutton kosha paratha combo, chicken cutlet was okayish ,fish fry was tested good but amount of fish was less in it ..mutton kosha was delicious but paratha was normal paratha ....it costed 750 for 2 people

Golbari situation at 5-point crossing, Shyambazar is one of the oldest food places of North Kolkata. The place has very small sitting of around 12-15 people and its entirely non-ac. Coming to food, we went their last month, their mutton curry was quite good however the parathas were too thin. Their fish fry was also good but the "pickle" served with the mutton and paratha was too "sour" 😐. However, in my opinion every item is bit overpriced in this food joint.

I visited on a rainy evening but it was pretty crowded as usual. Food taste is almost the same as I tasted for the first time 25 years back. This time, we ordered their signature kosha mutton n parata. What I liked most is their eco-friendly dishes. Don't expect ambience and service, but the aroma n taste of food is unparalleled.

Much Over-hyped,City Cabin contemporary classic kolkata street food style if you sit and eat over there they charge you for the plates and they add it with the plate price and not separately so it does not gets noticed, when you order thru a app the container charges are fine .They do have a banner displaying "NO VLOGGING" ,I suggest the owner to also display a Banner stating "DINE IN with plate charges"!Mutton pieces are tiny and i would say does not just the price! Pricing and street ambience should be reviewed!

It's located near Acharya Shyambazar..........If you Want the true taste of Mutton kasha..... then GolBari restaurant is surely the place you are looking for....Just 5 min waling from Shyambazar metro..... The best mutton one can dream,Meat lovers delight.. Not much of a fancy restaurant but if you have option better go for a Take Away........... This restaurant is not so good looking but it's famous for mutton kasha. It's little bit spicy and oily but you will like it. Kosha Mangsho is a spicy and delicious Mutton/Chicken curry from Bengal........... It is one of the most popular recipes in Bengali cuisine and is known for its great flavour and taste......❤️You haven't truly lived in kolkata if you had not tired the famous golbari kosha mangsho. I tired their mutton kosha and paratha. The food is really mouthwatering 🤤 and delicious. So, whenever you go to shyambazar , pls try this place.👌👌

😐 Simply come here for the atmosphere and history. Nothing should be eaten here. Cold coffee was a letdown. It was cold water that had been sweetened with a pinch of coffee. The fish kaviraji was satisfactory. Despite the fact that there is a no-smoking sign on the premises, I observed people smoking...

👍👍 Recently visited this place and trust me, it was worth every penny. The ambiance was great. We had Mutton Chello Kebab. The kebabs were very juicy and tender, I couldn't stop drooling! The egg yolk was runny and just perfect. The rice portion had a nice fresh smell and all together it was magical in...
