I think my favorite part was the collections of butterflies and other stuffed animals. My kids loved it too. There is an extensive book collection, which I loved and fellow bibliophiles will find interesting. In Belarus, it is very common to keep all lights off in the rooms until you go into them. So if it isn't busy there will be people following you around (especially if you have kids haha) to turn lights on and to make sure you don't mess with anything. That might seem strange to foreigners, but we've gotten used to it. One of these ladies stayed with us throughout the last floor carrying my youngest and explaining things to him. So friendly and kind.

The Old Castle in Grodno or Hrodno as it is known locally looks very interesting and has a great view over the river. Unfortunately the castle was closed when we visited and it looks like there is some building work going on so perhaps it is being refurbished. I would like to go back and visit sometime and have a proper look around. The Old Castle is next door to the New Castle which looks more like a stately home or similar then a castle.

The castle is well preserved, old an important to Lithuania. But the museum is terrible, both infrastructure and the whole second floor, talking about the 'great history of Communism'.

Great place for ice-hockey matches and music concerts.

A well and lovely museum of the history of Grodna and also of the flora and fauna around the city. Everyone who is interested in Grodna should look in.

The castle is pretty good itself. There are a lot of beautiful views here to the city, to the river and parks. Very rear you can see some performance here (actually never saw myself). The museum inside is not so good and not about the castle in general. You can find here just common exhibition about different history and archeology periods and some material about Belarus, USSR times also.

It would be a very interesting place to visit but as it continues to be under renovation at this time, the impressions are not the best. So, please keep in mind the two stars reflect only the current experience not the potential of the castle.

Big castle of red bricks has dozens of rooms with exhibitions related to history of Lithuania and Poland and local area during Moscow rule. Some items are from actual noblemen. Also great view at the lake.

Very interesting museum. Wide national exposition that covers the history of the place from ancient times to the Soviet period. This exhibition is not only about history but presents local flora and fauna too. It is highly recommended to visit.
