Wow - what a museum. To my understanding, the place was primarily used by His Majesty Rama 4. You can tour the museum (no photos) to see how his house was decorated. You can walk over to two different wants along the mountain. There’s a cable car to the top, so you don’t have to walk up. Beautiful grounds and lots of walking around the top to see the buildings and the sites. Enjoy! #travelthailand

An interesting palace. It is quite a nice experience to visit and understand the living conditions of king. There is no photo allowed within the palace and no shoe is allowed too.

Amazing amazing temple complex on a hill. Not much English but overall still very interesting. Tons of monkeys as well as monks around. You can walk up takes 15 minutes from opposing side to cable car. If you want exercise than dont get scammed by. Able car people because everyone will tell you to go there. You can walk down. 🚡 is 200 baht. The monkeys didn’t seem aggressive but there was an army of them so be careful.

This is a must-to-go place if you are in the area. Rama IV's palace is located high on the mountain with a magnificent view over the entire area. You take the cable car up here, and then it's a walk around between the various buildings that are spread over the entire mountain. The trip is not for people with poor walking. In the past there were many wild monkeys which were a bit of a nuisance. They are now gone from the mountain, there are only a few at the foot of the mountain. For some inexplicable reason, photography inside the palace itself is strictly prohibited, foreigners also have to pay 5 times as much to see the palace. This which costs a star. When foreigners have to pay so much extra, maybe you could use some of the money to maintain the buildings, which are crying out for paint

Very nice historical place to visit if you’re in Petchaburi. Unfortunately, you can’t take any photos in the museum. There is a 150 baht fee for foreigners but worth it. 50 baht for the tram ride up the hill.

This summer palace was settled in Kind Rama the fourth 160 years ago on the hill and become the iconic tourist spot of Prtchburi province in present day. The easiest way to go up the hill by the tram cost 80 baht for Thai and 250 baht for non-Thai. It worth to visit here in the morning and late afternoon to avoid the heat in summer.

Phra Nakhon Khiri, is a historic gem perched on a hill in Phetchaburi. The palace complex offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Its rich history, elegant architecture, and well-preserved buildings provide a captivating glimpse into the royal past, making it a rewarding destination for history enthusiasts.

You can use electric tram to go to the museum/palace. The palace is a bit small for foreigners, but it's very beautiful. The walkway around the hill is bumpy but scenery is great.

It was ok, everything up on the hill Was aged and the view was ok as well. I think the more exciting part was the cable car used to get up there. If you have time, stop and do it but don’t detour just for it, it is not worth it

The most cool thing that all the furniture and decorations in the kings residential are still there and we'll preserved. The area is very nice for walking. It's like a hidden gem.

A short cable ride going to the top. The pathway going to the temples are wide and passable but make sure to prepare for a long walk up to the top. An overlooking sight of the town awaits you up. It is a nice view to see but prepare an umbrella or anything to protect you from the heat of the sun. Along the pathway, be careful because there are monkeys. Make sure to keep your hands free of valuable things when you walk thru the pathway.

(Translated by Google) Phra Nakhon Khiri or Khao Wang is a palace for the royal court Built in the reign of King Rama IV on Mount Samon (old name) with a royal palace, royal palace, temple, chedi and various buildings. Scattered on 3 peaks On the top of the middle or on the mountainside, there is Maha Somnaram Temple which has a mural of Khruo Ingkhong as an important point. The eastern peak is Wat Phra Kaew Noi, Phra Prang Daeng, and Phra Suthasel Chedi. The western peak will be the way up of the electric tram. There are museums and royal houses. There are two ways to hike the hill: walk up from the side of the City Pillar Shrine or take the electric tram at the station west of him. On the mountain, when holding the hand of the bag, be careful with the monkey Because hand is very fast and quite fierce When he was hit by a soda bottle and sneered it again. All architecture built in harmony with the shady nature on the mountain. Very beautiful and valuable (Original)

Fantastically preserved royal palace on the hill top. Check the cable car is running before you visit or it is a long long hike up the mountain. Remember to dress decorously as usual with palaces - covered shoulders etc and you cannot take photos inside - but the views are spectacular over the city below, and imagine the King Rama IV hosting diplomatic missions.

The tickets included the entrance and cable car 🚡 2 ways up and down total costs 230B per adult, it's nice to have a little cultural visit in between Bangkok and Hua-Hin if that's coming up in your trip.

  • 3/5 Taku N. 2 years ago on Google
Palace is interesting but they could provide more historic explanations or insights. Nearly no information signs. Cable car ride was fun but they will keep you waiting pretty long times on unbusy days for a ride up or down. Staff is pretty demotivated and uncommonly unfriendly for Thai standards. Even the local monkey was more polite and welcoming. Overall was a good visit, but many things that could be improved.

Really great place with so much of interest here. The Historic Park can be accessed by a short cable car ride and is actually spread across three summits along the hillside requiring some uphill walking between each. Try to go early, it's very tiring walking this site in 31C heat. What is now the Museum was previously the Palace of a King Rama IV who eatablished this place in 1859, no photos allowed inside. You should visit all parts of this site, the Phra Kaew Noi Temple, Jatuwech Pariphat Hall and the Great White Pagoda. I love the way these buildings have been laid out in the beautiful surroundings of Shrubs and Tropical vegetation. The Cable Car costs 50 Baht return ticket and entrance to the Historic Park is 150 Baht, which includes the Museum/Palace. I travelled up from Hua Hin for the day, but this one place alone was worth the trip.

Nice old palace with great history. Good view/scenery of the city. You can take the cable car up if you do not want to trek up. The negative part is that there are a lot of monkeys. While waiting for the cable car to move, they are not afraid to enter the cable car (open concept, see photo) and snatch your stuff. Hence please do not leave your important belongings outside your bag (side pockets) and hold it tightly.

A beautiful old palace and fortress with panoramic view of the city. Easily access by the cable car. There is a small trekking route up there to wander around so you need to prepare yourself to walk up and down a bit. Beware of monkeys, they will try to steal food, hat and bags from you.

  • 5/5 Grace M. 4 years ago on Google
This place is truly beautiful. It's big and a bit to walk about so you will need a good shoes for it. There is some photo opportunities here so if you like to bring a good camera with you. There is Pala E area where you need to wear anything but covered below knee level, if you comes in short they have a dress for rent and it's very cheap. Beware of monkeys around here, they do attracted to food and drinks and they could get a bit aggressive sometime. Cheap entry ticket.

On top of a mountain there is the King's summerpalace. You can ride up with a cable car, included in the admission of 200Bhat. Up there it is very peaceful. Many butterflys and beautiful views all around. In the palace photografie is not permittet. Bring some water and beware of apes.

Great experience with lovely views. Care needed when walking around as lots of steep ramps and lots of steps. Well worth the effort. Cable cart to visitor center and chair lift to the main museum for step free access. Some parts not wheel chair accessible. Highly recommended for a few hours stop on the way.

  • 3/5 Jonathan van O. 1 year ago on Google
The place is nice and spectacular. It's a palace museum on top of a set of hills which can be reached by cable car. Even after the cable car, be prepared for a tough hike up and down. The view is also very beautiful and the museum is informative. The bad part was that even though I live here for 9 years, I'm still supposed to pay the tourist price, while I can prove that I'm here so long by showing my work permit. There is a security guard who keeps an eye on if you're Thai or not. Also got attacked by a monkey. So look out when you're there, and don't look into their eyes, because that provokes them.

We saw this place from the road as we passed through Phetchaburi and it looked so interesting that we felt that we must visit. The attraction itself is superb - we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The views are breathtaking from the top. I have taken off one point because this place operates a two price structure for foreign visitors. Considering that I live and work in Thailand and pay my taxes like everyone else I find this practice unfair.
