Saw 42 new bird species w/pics of most and countless species of butterflies. Also 1 beautiful Monocled Cobra, which was an added thrill and bonus.

This is the biggest national park in Thailand. The trails have different levels and are suitable for all hikers. The wildlife is amazing. We saw a spotted leopard, an Asian foreat tortoise, dusky leaf monkeys, birds, and over 20 species of butterflies. The park fee entrance is 300 baht for foreigners and 100 baht for Thais. A long tail boat tour across the dam is highly recommended. The park is open from November to July every year. During COVID-19 only Ban Krang Campsite is open.

Lovely views of the huge lake and a suspension bridge to the island which has a cycleway and walkway all the way around (1km) pity that the second bridge to a much larger island is closed.

Enjoyed the walk. It can get quite hard as some spots require climbing over rocks with the aid of built-in ropes. The first levels are an easy walk, and the further levels are more difficult. Good small waterfalls to see, lots of fish and butterfly's along the way.

Wonderful place to enjoy the nature. I was to late, arrived lunch time. If go there you should arrive at 8am to have enough time to walk around and just enjoy fresh air and nature

Quite disappointing. It’s called a national park but it’s basically just a camping site. Not so much tree around, ground is paved with beton and grass. Was thinking on visiting the suspension bridge, but to find out that the bridge is suspended, i.e. dismantled 🤣

The actually NP (not around the dam) is one of the most amazing and wildest parts of the world. With two camp sites and their facilities you can spend weeks there looking for birds, elephants, leopards,gibbons etc… a must visit place in Thailand.

Wow, what an experience! 1 full day & 2 nights at camp ban kaeng. In the nature trails we were stormed by a massive stag deer and fawn being hunted by 3 jackals, all flying past just 6meters away. We saw wild elephant, family of gibbon, snub tail macaque, plenty of dusky leaf langurs, many hornbills, millions of butterfly’s, a large green tree snake and tokay gecko battle out. The night before we arrived the campers mentioned a sun bear strolled through camp, no cats unfortunatley. But to wake up to the howls of gibbon and langurs above was a pretty special experience! Will be back

It's great there is a waterfall and nature trail which is well devised for even the mildly active people. Entry fee is high at 300 bhat , good for Europeans steep for Asians

I recommend to make tent at the lake side..in the hill side camp..not much interesting. Only some monkey jumping side to side. Some nice spot for picture.

Amazing bird life and I would highly recommend visiting one of the many bird hides. 300 but pp and is worth every cent. I went in the off season and the bird life was still excellent. If your time is short skip the morning session and only go for the afternoon where you see majority of the bird life.

Pretty cool place, only one of the bridges was open and thought there'd be more of an opportunity to walk but there's not as many paths as I thought... Can rent a bicycle for 30b an hour, they're all a bit rickety but it was good fun. Can also camp there, think it's 250 a night. We all enjoyed ourselves and the food at the cafe was yummy and reasonably priced (50b or so a meal) though they were a little stingy with the sauce.. Overall a nice spot 👌❤️

It was an amazing experience to see the wildlife in its natural state. Seeing elephants in the natural habitat is something I'll remember for ever.

Kaeng Krachan National Park, a huge disappointment. After reading information online and in my travel guide, I was really looking forward to explore this beautiful national park. After a one hour ride from Phetchaburi, I reached the entry point to the park. Being a foreigner, my ticket was 300 baht, a reasonable price, at least that's what I thought at that moment in time. I reached the Ban Krang camping site, parked the car and started looking for trails into the forest, hoping to encounter interesting animals. I found one 'trail', which immediately required me to cross 2 streams and afterwards it was pretty much guessing where to go next. The only animals I came across, were annoying insects, no tropical birds, no monkeys, nothing worth my blood, sweat and tears in the humidity and heat of the forest. I got back at the camping site to discover there was nothing else to see or explore. Since the next camping site was only accessible by a 4 wheel drive, my adventure ended prematurely at the camping site. I truly wonder how on earth people are supposed to encounter elephants, leopards and other animals in this park (as stated online), there are hardly any trails or viewpoints and you won't find them on a campsite. Unless you enjoy camping in nature, avoid this national park, paying 300 baht for wandering around a campsite is not worth your time, Thailand has so much more to offer.
