Found this completely understated “Gem” by accident, and will be eternally grateful for turning left and not right that day! We’ve believe that over the years tested & tasted the best of American BBQ, this by far is the best we’ve had outside of the US! 🙏 Brian the proprietor is a lovely chatty guy, who after an evening of his good company indulging in their amazing food, turns out is a totally dedicated and focused BBQ connoisseur who prides himself on sourcing the best ingredients and testing each cut to his special recipes on their own custom smoker (we learnt a lot) Ribs Burgers Brisket ALL the sides & trimmings scratch made in house If you’re in the vicinity (or not) be sure to make a beeline to this oasis for all self respecting BBQ lovers.

Great local restaurant! My girlfriend and I ordered the half rack of ribs with coleslaw and fries. That was enough for both of us! The meat tasted like it had been marinating in the sauce for a long time instead of just having sauce slapped on at the last minute like most BBQ places in Thailand. Meat was really tender, and the coleslaw tasted great. The owner was really nice too!

I decided to take a look at this small bar and have a beer. Brian the owner is a very pleasant friendly guy. Clearly the business is not doing so well and I decided to try some of the food that he said was so popular. I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork with Coleslaw and Potato Salad. The food arrived and first tried a bit of Potato Salad. It was a bit plain and bland to be honest. Same applied to the Coleslaw. The first taste of the Pork was a bit worrying so I mixed a bit of pork with potato salad. This just about 'balanced' the overpowering flavour of the pork. But as I ate more of the pork with the potato salad and Coleslaw , the flavour of the pork destroyed the whole meal. It was simply totally overloaded with smokey BBQ sauce and the meat might as well have not even been there. It was awful. I could never finish eating it. Sorry Brian, I can only reflect what I experienced with your food. Not good.

We have walked by several times but this time we decided to stop in for lunch. We both wanted ribs, I ordered a half rack with fries, my girlfriend ordered a half rack with potato salad. There is a small bar inside with three bar stools, there are enough tables inside to seat an additional 16. Out front there is seating for another 10 or so. Our ribs arrived, you know how at many places a half rack is more of a snack than a meal? Well that isn't the case here, here you will get about as much meat on a half rack as you do on a full rack at other restaurants. The meat was tender and falling off the bone. The owner stopped by our table to ask how our ribs were and seemed genuinely pleased when we told him that they were very good. He stopped by again later and was impressed that we were both able to eat all of the ribs, he said many people can not, yes, there is that much meat on them! Needless to say we were both happy and full when we left.

Honestly, it's just an all-around great spot. I could have the pulled pork pizza everyday. The service is excellent. The location is prime. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

What a nice spot for Western style slow cooked ribs and a couple of craft or regular beers. Homemade sauce not slapped on at the last minute. Not too sweet like most of my experience with ribs here in Hia Hin. Pulled pork plate really good, and nachos as well pretty good. May be back to try the pizza. Been here twice this trip, and a definite go to for a great experience all around. Good music selection, owner gives great service and nice conversation.

One of my favourite meals in Thailand! Fantastic little place, with great hospitality. The food was cooked well and tasted amazing. Has a fab cocktail menu as well as beers, wines, and soft drinks. Great value for money too.

Lovely experience! We sat outside as it was a nice evening and the owner has a fan directly above the table - great way of enabling outside dining. We ordered pulled pork shoulder for me and ribs for my husband (who wanted to order a full rack but was advised to stick with the half) and sides (coleslaw &fries and an extra side of potato salad). They were phenomenal - pork shoulder had the perfect balance of salty, sweet & tangy with a subtle heat. The ribs were marinated to perfection and falling off the bone. And the owner was right, a half rack was just right. The coleslaw and potato salad were both homemade and absolutely delicious (I usually leave the slaw but I ended up finishing my husband's too. Now all we need to do is figure out when we can go back!

What an incredible find! We absolutely loved the smoked bbq ribs at Green Onion!!!! The owner takes great pride in the ribs that he smokes daily on his indirect smoker and rightfully so. Perfectly smoked with his homemade dry rub, these ribs literally fall off the bone and are served with his delicious homemade BBQ sauce. These ribs are the best tasting ribs I’ve ever found outside of the southern part of the United States. They are sold by the half kilo and served with fries and coleslaw, both which are great. Pulled pork nachos are also very good and a nice addition to your order of ribs. Owner is super friendly and everything is fairly priced. I highly recommend and I can’t wait to return next time I’m in Hua Hin…..

It's bananas how good the ribs here were! Falling off the bone without being crazy sweet or drowning in sauce. A good quality, tasty rib. And the potato salad was really good too - a rather creamy sauce with slightly beatup chunks of potato. We also got the pulled pork nachos which were very good as well, but the ribs were definitely the star. Oh, and the owner was really nice! That was a pleasant bonus to our visit.

The rack of smoked BBQ pork ribs are amazing, so succulent and tasty. Nachos with smoked chicken are phenomenal and the burgers spectacular. Thai food is excellent as well and I loved the pizzas. Highly recommended, we come here twice a week and I've never seen or tasted such a big rack of ribs that taste this good.

A lovely place to eat food and drink beer while you watch the world go by and the owner is a very friendly fellow who is always keen to stop for a chat in this laid-back restaurant. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious and were accompanied by chips, coleslaw and a piquant sauce; the pad kra pao cooked by the owner's wife (the chef was on holidays) was about my maximum level of fiery and also delicious. Try to get seats along the bench at the front where you can eat and drink while watching people going about their business.

Dropped in for a late lunch. Found out the owner used to own a bar cum restaurant in Bangkok long ago and moved to Hua Hin. Had the beef burger which was ok. Should have tried the ribs as this is high on praises. Next time for sure.

This modest BBQ, pizzas and burgers shop quickly became one of our favorite eateries during a recent visit to Hua Hin. The food was great, especially the huge BBQ pork ribs, and the pizzas and burgers were pretty good as well -- all at reasonable prices. On top of that, Green Onion has a cooler full of some very nice imported craft beers. The proprietor is a Brit, so the house BBQ sauce is a bit different that the typical American style, but the ribs and pulled pork offerings were fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious nonetheless!

I ordered the half rack of ribs and it was fantastic. The meat was cooked to perfection and the serving was enormous! The hospitality and service were also excellent, and I enjoyed hearing the story of how the restaurant came to be. I don't typically eat western food when I'm in Thailand because the local food is so good, but those ribs were special! Highly recommend.

I read the Google reviews and decided to have dinner at Green Onion, it did not disappoint to say the least! Ordered half a rack of ribs with the magic sauce, was extremely tasty! And a lot, had to take some of it home! The owner is lovely, gave us a couple of tips and was a good host. If you are in Hua Hin and would like to have some ribs or meat, come here! You will not regret your decision!

What I can say about this little gem. Best ribs I've ever had. Brian the owner was a great host. The pizza and the burger were fantastic but the show stopper was the ribs. They have their own smoker out the back. The meat just fell of the bones and the seasoning was just right. Brian is a very modest guy but this place has awards and accolades for best ribs in thailand and also entered into an awards category in dubai for best ribs in Asia. Not to miss guy if in hua hin. On side note great selection of craft beers.

Had the full rack of ribs for a family of 4 and we were full and left a few chips. Full rack, coleslaw, potato salad, chips and BBQ sauce. Good range of hand-made burgers and freshly made Thai food at very reasonable prices. Award winning chilli con carne. 60 different types of craft beer available usually. Sometimes fewer owing to customer consumption. Brian the landlord is engaging and knowledgeable.

Fantastic little restaurant. The pulled pork nachos are great but the ribs are the star of the show. The half rack is bigger than a full rack you might get in other restaurants, perfectly smoked and the meat fell off the bone. Great sauce that isn't overly sweetened like other places. The owner is very friendly and chatty. Will definitely visit again when we are in town.

This quaint little gem is a small unassuming shop tucked along the many stores on the main road. We had both the ribs and pulled pork and they were both deliciously good, close to being addictive. Not many are able to pull off smoking correctly, and the chef cum restauranteur nailed it. We'll definitely be back for seconds and if the owner plans to move to Bangkok to open another shop, then he will definitely count us as regulars. A great meal for a good price.

Exceptionally awesome bbq. Pulled pork had a nice zing of spicyness ( a little much for my kids ), but they happily devoured the smoked chicken and I turned my attention to their pulled pork. Paired with a great craft beer. Superb. Be aware it's a small place with a small kitchen. Food is prepared fresh. If it's busy expect a little wait for quality food. If you want it fast, go to McDonald's. But you'll miss out. Oh. And if I hear one more complaint about the cat... Get over it people. This is Thailand. It's the cat's neighbourhood. Our kids found the cat as a value added.

The food here is brilliant. You can also get some great craft beers to go with it. Half a rack of ribs is enough for one person. I recommend the smoked chicken.

I’ve been here with the old and new owners and it’s the same good service and great food. The ribs are a favorite, probably the best in Hua Hin. A lot of different craft beers too and it’s always nice to try a couple of new ones when I’m there.

Green Onion had been on my list to try for the past couple of years but we only recently got back to Hua Hin for a weekend. The American founder is gone and the place is now run by the former owner of the Crossbar in Bangkok. It wasn't clear to me which menu items are leftover from the original owner and which items were brought over from the Crossbar, but everything we tried was good. Smoked chicken breast was super juicy and smoky and the BBQ sauce is was glazed with was rich and savory. The Chili was served UK style with rice and tortilla chips; it was thick and hearty but reminded me more of a chili "topping" for Coney Dogs or Nachos rather than an American style stew. The real highlight was the pizza, though, which I would not have expected. The crust was super thin and crispy and the sauce very sweet and tangy. Ironically, it was way better than pizzas we had tried at Italian restaurants around town over the previous few nights. Perhaps the only disappointment was the lack of variety of IPAs and other craft beers, as I had thought craft beer was partly was Green Onion was famous for. The owner explained, however, that he was in the process of restocking after the Covid-shutdown and was unfortunately having some trouble with the local distributors, and I've already contacted some alternative distributors to help him get fully stocked again. He strikes me as a super genuine guys with extensive experience in the F&B industry; thus, I have complete faith that the cooler will be fully stocked with awesome beers on my next visit. :)

Delicious bbq and very friendly and welcoming owner who we had a great chat with. I'm from the southern US and have lived abroad for a couple years so this was the perfect spot for some delicious bbq and IPAs. Great classic rock 'n roll playlist in the background was also a plus.
