This was undefeated the best hostel I’ve stayed in during my whole South America travel! Great rooms, hot showers and comfortable, huge beds but the best were the staff / the three brothers working there. They spend so much effort trying to make you feel at home! They are very knowledgeable about the various hikes in and around Huaraz and can provide you with all the necessary information.

Akilpo Home was definitely one of the best hotel/home experiences in a long time. We spent a total of 10 nights there. The building and the rooms are basically new with modern bathrooms and big and comfortable beds. The breakfast left no wishes open: You can order any type of egg dish you want, they make fresh pancakes, serve fresh fruit (every day different choices), bread, jam, Nutella, cereals, yogurt, cheese, avocado, tea, coffee and milk. For those who want to cook, they have a well equipped kitchen ready for use. The owners are all very open and exceptionally friendly. They will gladly answer any types of questions about hiking, restaurants or things to do in the area. Since they themselves are experienced mountaineers they know details about each and every hike in the region. Also they organize plenty of guided tours themselves which can only be recommended. I will definitely come back!

This is the best place you can stay in Huaraz, don’t bother looking elsewhere. The B and B is brand new, the rooms are big bright and comfy. The beds are super cosy and big with real down comforters! The bathrooms are bright and the showers have hot water with great pressure. The breakfast is one of the best we have had in South America with fresh fruit, eggs, pancakes etc. We spent over 2 months in Huaraz and stayed here the entire time! The best thing about the entire place though is the Brothers who run it, Leo, Esteban and Benjamin! They are the most friendly, helpful and knowledgeable people, they can help you plan and organize all your adventures. Thanks for everything guys, we will be back one day, cheers!

It was one of nicest hostels I’ve stayed in, comfy bed, big and clean room, good breakfast great and quite location. And the best service ever, wow! Esteban is the nicest host I’ve ever met, he helped us to get to the hostel safely when the roads were blocked and helped us organising tours. He was so flexible and let us stay in the room later than check out time and was simply amazing person!

The name of the hotel fits 100%! This place is like home. Not only the beds are freaking comfy and the rooms big and clean… also the owners are one of the most friendly people I’ve ever met. They literally helped us with everything. Even in very difficult times when protests were ongoing and roads blocked they were always there for us. We could even stay longer in the room until our bus left. Again a big thank you! Really appreciate it!

We originally booked for just two nights, but ended up staying for five! Absolutely loved it here. The three brothers running Akilpo are incredibly hardworking, helpful, friendly and fun and they did everything to make our stay enjoyable and to help us organise our hikes. Hot showers, giant bed, great breakfast - including offer of vegan pancakes on one of the hikes on mentioning that I didn't eat eggs. Muchas gracias and I hope we can return one day!

I stayed here for 5 nights. The bed, pillows, and clean room were so perfect. Breakfast was also a breakfast that I looked forward to every day with hot tea, hot coffee, and delicious fruits. And above all, the host who always treats you kindly did all three tours here.

Cannot rate this place high enough. The brothers went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and seamless. Our rooms were beautiful, beds so comfy and the breakfast included was my favourite in all of Peru (granola, fruit, yoghurt, pancakes and eggs). Estoban was our go to man for everything. He organised our tours and hikes we did during our time in Huaraz. We stayed during cyclone Yaku so when some plans failed, Estoban always had a plan B for us. 10/10 at Akilpo and we hope to come back.

We had a great time here! We slept two nights in Akilpo Home and did two tours with Akilpo. Both were fantastic! The staff and the guides are so nice, and they spoke English very well. The beds in the room are huge and the breakfast is great. We would definitely recommend Akilpo, both for accommodations as for tours to the mountain.

We have been travelling for four months and this has been the best place we have stayed at, we’d recommend it to everyone. The brothers were incredibly helpful, helping us to plan our hikes and book transport. We booked the panoramic hike with them on my birthday and it was brilliant. The room was lovely, great big bed and bathroom with good and hot shower and the breakfast was great. Definitely the best place to stay in Huaraz

Absolutely fantastic place to stay! Clean, modern, well equipped room with comfortable bed and good shower. Great homemade breakfasts. Above all: extremely friendly, personal attention from the three brothers running the hotel, who go out of their way to give you personalized advice about hiking/activities around Huaraz and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Hands down the best stay we had during our trip to Peru. Certainly, this place has so many 5-star reviews for a reason. The room is sparkling clean, the bed is super comfy, and there's solid hot water not only for the shower but also for the sink, which is pretty rare in Peru. What's most valuable is that the three brothers and the team managing the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone greets us when they see us. Esteban let us check in early when we arrived in the early morning, provided valuable hiking information, and helped us reserve tours or arrange transportation. Luis helped us make a last-minute reservation to Lake Rocotuyo, which turned out to be one of the best trips during our stay! Leo always struck up a conversation with me whenever he saw me. We also made friends with other guests during our stay. Huaraz is a busy and chaotic city, which I'm not a big fan of, but Akilpo Home is certainly an oasis where I felt relaxed and comfortable when I returned. It was definitely a great stay, and I recommend it to everyone visiting Huaraz

Great place in Huaraz. Nice rooms, big beds, hot water, and very good breakfast. The owners are incredibly helpful and have so much patience explaining everything. We were in Huaraz during the rainy season, which limits the options for tours because many tours only go with a certain number of people. Eduardo talked us trhough several alternatives. We did the Panorama + Laguna 69 day hike with Akilpo and the service level is perfect. Very good food and guide. Really recommend to spend the extra buck on this compared to the standard Laguna 69 hike. The panoramic views of the highest mountains of Peru are beautiful! And because you start earlier than most others you'll have the lake to yourself!

Just great. If you’re looking for a place to relax after a long day of hiking, this is perfect. Clean rooms & bathrooms. Great breakfast. They prepared us a breakfast box when we were leaving early for a hike, which was very nice. Also it’s very convenient that the Akilpo agency is located at the hotel. They can help you planning your hiking our mountaineering trip or arrange transport / taxis to the trailheads. Highly recommended!

This place is so great in everything. After hiking we could relax and sleep very good to wake up fit for the next hike. Also the owners are lovely. They took the time for us and explained everything about what we could do and advised us about the hiking. And the breakfast is very nice. If you go to Huaraz, definitely book this hotel.

Incredible experience with Akilpo home, the brothers who run it and everyone else we had the pleasure of spending time with. The room is clean and bed is very comfortable. Solid hot showers also. The space is serene with a nice courtyard which is a welcome rest from Huaraz. Now this part will sound exaggerated, but I mean every word. Benji, Steve and their team could not have been more accommodating or helpful of my partner and I. We had an early check in, a late check out to shower. Beyond that, they had excellent suggestions for hikes, helped us with taxi services etc. We ended up in Huaraz for 4 extra days and Benji suggested and coordinated two different overnight trips with guides, transports, equipment etc. on short notice. He suggested hikes according to what he knew we liked and our level, just based on hearing about our prior day hikes. Each of the guides/assistants that we trekked with (Leonardo, Marcos, Roger and David) were phenomenal. Absolutely incredible experience, probably the best I’ve ever had in any accommodation while trekking. My partner and I can’t wait to come back.
