Great thrift shop with clean, hip cloths! Seems like a lot of nice households donate here..prices are very thrifty with color coded tag specials throughout the week...variety in all types of odds and ends and a pleasant staff :D always fun to pop in!

A friend and I were in Columbus for the day, and we joked about finding a "gay little thrift shop" but there we were, walking up High street when we find an actual queer thrift shop. Insanely reasonable prices, lovely and helpful staff. Like Goodwill, but better.

I visited Out of the Closet Thrift Store, at 1230 N. High St. in the "Short North" neighborhood of Columbus, for my first time on 9-20-2023. I have walked by that store many times while on my way to and from events at Stonewall Columbus, one block to the south, but I had never actually visited there until recently. It had been fun to walk around Out of the Closet Thrift Store for thirty minutes or so and to see the many interesting items that they have for sale. Certainly, the items that they have for sale at that store will change every few days. The woman behind the counter told me that 96% of their sales go directly to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s HIV/AIDS treatment and care programs worldwide. Also available at the Columbus location of Out of the Closet Thrift Store are free HIV testing and a pharmacy. If you are looking for some "one-of-a-kind" items and you also want to support a worthy cause, I recommend Out of the Closet Thrift Store.

My experience was not all that positive here. On the day I visited, staff was helpful and friendly. I purchased a chair however, that I didn’t know would be too big for my car at the time. They graciously held it longer than the amount of days they usually hold items for pickup, while I arranged for it to be picked up with a truck. One of the employees (Christian?) was very rude when he contacted me about having to come pick it up. He told me that I would not even receive store credit for the item if I brought the remaining pieces back & not pick up the chair. I contacted the store later that day to say that I would definitely be coming to pick it up, and confirmed this with the same employee. Later that day, I spoke with the manager who informed me that his staff had sat my chair outside in the rain and it got ruined. The staff may have done this purposefully. I’m not sure why there was so much ill intent behind this transaction.

One of the smallest thrift stores I’ve been to. Not much selection to pick from - kind of disappointing! Also, nothing was organized by size and it made it very difficult to shop. I found some really nice pieces but ended up disappointed because they weren’t my size.

If you can find a place to park everything else is great. But every time I come the extra small parking lot is full.

Love what this place does for the communities. Free hiv and STD testing too as it is very expensive elsewhere. I take all of my clothes there to donate because no one seems to donates big and tall men’s clothes there. So when it’s time to purge my closet 3-4 times a year. I take 4-5 lawn bags of clothes there so someone will enjoy basically new clothes. Most still with tags on them.

I can appreciate the cause the money goes to and will happily support. However, it seemed kind of small, and there wasn't much inventory that interested me on the day I went.

Great place for free std testing but it’s first come first serve so make sure you get there early. All the staff were super nice and friendly and the process was very quick and easy. They also give you free condoms :)

One of my favorite thrift stores in the Columbus areas. They always have unique items and decent prices. They have a much bigger inventory of clothing than general items. Also, they have an excellent mission and are an important community resource.

I love this place. I stop here every time I come to Columbus. They offer FREE HIV testing and Some STI. All you need is an Id. And if you get tested they give you 5$ off your purchase. I found a few nice things today!! Nice people working too!! I got tested and was negative. Go find out your status. Stay Safe.

Good selection. Mostly clothing and accessories, some furniture and home decor. Clean and well-organized.

Visited it for the first time on 30th October. I like that when I spend money here, it goes to a cause. A lot of different clothing options to look around, though plus size options are a little limited. I wore the clothes I bought here to an interview the next day and was offered the position on the spot so it is now my lucky store. For anyone wanting to support a cause, this is a great way to do it.

Highly overpriced and rude workers. The clothes all looked old and most were faded or had piling and some even looked dirty. Couldn’t believe how rude the workers were either. This place is trash.

Unfortunately, after three years of going here, the prices are simply too outrageous. Asking $8 for a t shirt and $30+ for coats, video games, and other common thrift items is completely unaffordable and just screams only in it to make money rather than actually provide affordable items. It’s a thrift store, not a boutique, not a marketplace, and surely not a retail store, so it is very sad to see that this is no longer a thrift store. Stick with goodwill and salvation army if you want to actually find affordable clothing. Pricing items based off of their maximum selling price at a “thrift” store is hypocritical and completely contradicts the purpose of a thrift store. If this store wants to continue to operate, especially in a student environment, the prices need to be lowered. -a past weekly-customer
