Unless you are camping on park grounds you can’t spend your nights any closer to the dunes. The Lodge is pricey but worth it for a night or two. Being able to simply drive 5 minutes to access the dunes is worth the premium you pay because it gets hot the later you arrive. Moreover, the sunsets from the Lodge are lovely and allow you to see the constantly changing shadows on the dunes.

Great location to be near the Great Sand Dunes National Park and have a great view from the hotel. Continental breakfast is included and some rooms are pet friendly. They also rent sand boards to guests. The store and restaurant are closed in the winter, so you just have to drive a little farther into one of the towns for food/ supplies.

we stayed in the domes and had a great experience. the view of the dunes in the morning was beautiful! they have a fire pit in the center that you can share with the rest of the campers and the bathrooms were very clean and neat. it took a short walk to reach them from our dome, but not too bad

Stayed in the domes and it was a fantastic experience. The dome was very comfortable with both AC and Heat that worked great. The views were amazing and it was incredibly quiet. The staff was very friendly, free breakfast was an amazing values and probably cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a campsite/hotels.

I had a fantastic hotel stay in the domes! The location couldn't have been better – it's incredibly close to the sand dunes. Although there was a minor issue with the sheets' smell, everything else was absolutely perfect. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

In my two years of road tripping, this camping area by far have the cleanest and nicest bathrooms. I stayed in the pod and it was so cute! Yes you’re in a very hot environment so the pods aren’t suitable for day lounging, but at night, you’re super cozy. They have free wifi as well! You also get an AMAZING view of the national park. If I’m ever back in the area, I’ll be staying here again.

If you are traveling in to the Great Sand Dunes with a family you must stay here. The owner was so wonderful in accommodating my family when my husband was sick and so we called with under 24 hours notice to change reservation. He didn’t hesitate and remembered when we checked in and asked how everyone was. It’s so rare these days people don’t charge for a change like that. They were so pleasant and friendly and the rooms were very clean and large.

My fiance and I stayed in one of the pods. We checked in late and unfortunately our electric didn't work the first night. But the pod was very welcoming and nice. But unfortunately super hot in the summer with no a/c. If there was a/c the pods would be unmatched. The bathrooms were kept really clean while we were here. But the first night stay the plumbing was turned off. So that was an adventure in itself. Overall they stay was pleasant and the staff were wonderful. I want to say a big thanks to Suzanne, who works in the office. She was so sweet and helped make the process of everything easy. I will recommend this place for years to come.

We stayed in one of the new Geodesic Domes on site. It comes with a bed, power outlet, space heater and a light bulb. Communal bathroom. Pros - the view, close to the park. Everyone was very nice. Everything including the bathrooms was pretty clean. Bed was fine especially since our other option was tent camping. Free breakfast was okay -- it's all prepackaged stuff like muffins and poptarts but it's free, so. Cons - dome was too hot to use in the day and there aren't any shaded areas. I would bring a fan or some sort of shade set up if you're using the dome before sunset. Domes could use another end table for the bed and maybe a third table somewhere to eat. Also no mirror in the communal bathrooms. They were kept pretty clean during our stay and came stocked with little shampoo and lotion bottles.

Me and my sister booked a dome to stay in for one night. We brought our dog and had been traveling all day to get to the dunes. When we pulled up to the dome it awfully in a tight space. No privacy at all. The curtains in the dome barely closed the windows providing a perfect opportunity for creepy peekers. The dome had no air flow and it was hot and smelled like feet. The light bulb was fluorescent so kind of felt like I was staying in a Walmart. The pictures are nothing like the dome: unless you count the hard dirty bed with many strains of hair. I’m only writing this much because I wasted my 188 and had to drive in the late night on unsafe roads. Not cool. Advertise your domes for what they are. I would have just slept in my car rather blowing a chunk of change.

I would give it 4-5 stars. You are paying for the location, which is 10 minutes from the national park. Gorgeous views, very nice staff, free breakfast, spacious room. The patios are awesome, as well that it is dog friendly. However, for the price, there are a few downsides and suggestions for improvement. I stayed in the room with the kitchen. It wasn't particularly well-stocked..it had a few bowls made for a toddler and then about 20 plates, and then the typical microwave, toaster, coffee maker, over, fridge. The cookware was lacking. No strainer/collander, tea kettle, mixing bowls, etc to prepare a regular meal. The couch, bed folding chairs aren't the most comfortable, but doable for a night or two. Shower could really use a door or something; curtain wasn't great and water was everywhere. Overall, would stay again.

I had the pleasure of staying at this stunning hotel and I have to say, the experience was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and the breathtaking views of the mountains. But what really set this hotel apart was the abundance of hummingbirds that flitted about the property, seemingly snapping photos of their own with their quick movements.
