Delightful! Delicious! You want a great, hearty, authentic Italian meal from recipes handed down from families that you would call “the real deal”? Then get on down to this quaint shop full of love and good smells and groceries and vats of bubbling meatballs ready to adorn your plate and amaze your palate. Best food in Trinidad. Best Italian this side of the Atlantic. Fran is back in the kitchen cooking (granddaughter of original Nana and Nano - look for the the family portraits ) She deserves a hug. And we gave her one.

This made a great stop en route between Denver and Santa Fe. We enjoyed escaping the chain restaurants for some authentic red-checkered-table-cloth Italian food (theirs were actually green-checkered). While the pastas weren't house made, they were perfectly cooked and served with N&N's red sauce. The gnocchi were tasty, especially when served with the Pueblo green chili sausage. It was fun seeing the owner and staff greet the parade of locals by name as they came in. As a sign in the deli part of the restaurant says, "Come as strangers, leave as friends."

Lovely surprise in the most unlikely spot I would ever expect to find an authentic Italian Deli. Kim, and her Nana run a great little family restaurant and Italian grocery store. Best Italian food in town.

We've driven through Trinidad 6 times now, always either too early or too late to get anything but fast food. Nana & Nano's has been one of 2 restaurants that I really wanted to try. We were not disappointed at all! The polenta is amazing. My kids split spaghetti and meatballs, and the oldest had fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Everyone is asking if we can come back. It's cozy and welcoming atmosphere is incomparable.

Love these people! They're friendly and hardworking. They've had to modify their service to get by in the current times. All food is now "to go" style. There are a small number of tables at which you can sit and eat there, if they're available, but they don't have the staff to offer typical dine-in table service. They still have their great little deli and shop section, carrying various Italian meats, cheeses, desserts, dry pantry goods and novelties. They, like all small "mom and pop" shops are struggling to survive. Please support them. <3

Best Italian Restaurant in town! I love their Fettuccine, and the entire staff is always so dedicated to their craft. This is actually better than Italian Restaurants in Denver as well, where I am unable to find good pasta.

My wife and I walked in and we were instantly greeted with dirty looks and rude service. We stood there and waited to be told were to sit for about 5 minutes. We decided to leave because no one would speak to us or even ignolage that we even came in.

the chicken alfredo tasted like gravy sauce. the bread was not toasted nor flavored. this is not authentic. locals rate it high because they don’t know any better.

Coming from a full Italian background, I know what true home cooked tastes like. “Nana” still cooks here, and the family runs the front. They are genuinely sweet people who make you feel like a relative. This is a gem in Trinidad, and truly Colorado as a whole. Even though they are takeout only right now, give them a shot, you’ll only regret not ordering more.

This is a delightful little family owned deli with friendly service and delicious food. The salad is a bit on the boring side but the homemade sauce is what makes me return every time I am in Trinidad. They also have a nice selection of pastas and other yummy stuff to take home with you.

Great mom and pop family deli and restaurant. Literally only 3 tables in front of store. We had spaghetti with sausage and meatballs. Very good!

It was a small place to begin with but since Covid they cut it in half. Main dishes are good. Meatballs seem store bought. At least the red sauce is homemade. The salads you get with your meal are a complete joke. It’s just a pile of lettuce with a single quarter of a slice of tomato. Their bread with the meals is pretty bad. Used to get whole little loafs to share. Now you just get like 4 thinly sliced pieces. They seem to have decided to instead of keeping good quality and increasing prices they decided to lower quality and increase prices. If things improve I will change my review.

This is a neat, quaint restaurant. The food was made fresh, not premade and then warmed up in the microwave. It also has a selection of local fair for sale.

This place is absolutely amazing. Got an Italian hot sub and my brother got Daltons Monster sub (highly recommend). Service was perfect. Great lunch spot if you’re passing through Trinidad.

Amazing food! The Italian sausage was the best we've had in a long time, their alfredo and red sauces both just absolutely delicious. Their selection of deli items was wonderful, got some mixed olives and parmesan cheese, and I cannot wait to devour them. Thank you so much!

Came down to town today and decided to eat here. Such a nice authentic Italian deli with great Italian favorites like lupini beans and nougat. The Italian dressing for the salad was different from any I have had and it was delicious on the salad. The hogie was delicious as well. I'll definitely come back here and highly recommend you check out this gem.

This was our last stop in Trinidad and it was my personal favorite. The lady we talked to was so much fun and you could just feel her love for her restaurant, her family, and her community. She had so many wonderful stories and I would have loved to listen to her even more. She praised the local bakery and I will have to go in there sometime after the fantastic things she had to say about them. The food her mom made in the back was fantastic, I had the the gnocchi and my boyfriend had the rigatoni. Even the butter for the bread was delicious and a great attention to detail that it wasn't just basic. The sausage was delicious. From what I could see, there didn't look to be a bad plate at any table. The salad was simple, with just lettuce and tomato but it allowed the delightful dressing to be a star. They had a wonderful table full of gifts and we were able to take a few things to remind of us of the fantastic time we had in Trinidad. If you're thinking you want to head there, make this a must on your list and enjoy truly wonderful people and a great place to visit.

Awesome find. Wonderful food, lots of delicious GlutenFree choices, even bread and desserts! (Thank you Ms Fran!). Friendly family run place that's full of character. Parking is tricky, but only because we aren't used to street parking. No photos, because the food was too good to stop eating to take a picture.

Was traveling through town headed to Denver. I Googled "good places to eat in Trinidad. OH MY GOODNESS! This place is everything the Google reviews say it is. My sandwich was hot and fresh. The bread was so soft. AMAZING FOOD! Not fast food - made to order food service.

We make the trek from Albuquerque to Denver frequently. Stopping to see Kim and her Nana is always a priority. The food is outstanding, and the warm deli atmosphere takes my hubby back to his childhood!

Food so good it's unbelievable. I would make the 4 hour drive every weekend just to eat here. I had the Gary's Special with a meatball and could and would probably eat it every day for the rest of my life.

The best Italian food I've ever had. Nothing I've had before compares to Nana and Nano's. If I could eat here everyday, I would.

This was the most bland and grossest “Italian” food I’ve ever had. Their seating was disgusting and all the few tables they had were covered in sticky stuff and had not been cleaned. I tried the Alfredo and ordered it with meatballs assuming it came in the pasta, it did not, it came on the side smothered in red sauce, which I can’t eat. The Alfredo itself was just cream with barely any flavor. So it was a total waste of $15 for my plate and another $15 for my husbands, would NOT recommend .

We got carryout (only thing available because of COVID-19) and took it to our hotel. Our only complaint was that they were supposed to provide napkins, plastic knives, forks, etc. but apparently forgot. Fortunately we had a few utensils of our own. We had two different pasta dishes with meatballs, and our food was very good.

We love this local mom and pop restaurant in this little town! They even have a gluten-free menu which my picky wife approved. Kids loved the meatball pasta while I enjoyed the beef sandwich. We will definitely visit this place again if we ever pass thru this town.

It's the best Italian food around, the only complaint recently is the bread loaves we got tasted stale which was disappointing, especially for the price, but everything else was delicious.
