Interesting museum, most liked the displays on the diversity of cowboys and cowgirls in the wild west. Like the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles this museums show the reality of the frontier not the John Wayne fake myths that disrespect what really happened out there where people struggled and lived with honestly, dignity, and freedom from oppressive social norms. I am glad that I got to see this museum. Sadly no donors have stepped up to find this cultural institute. This is a weakness of Dallas Civic culture.

I was supposed to start a job that seems like a pyramid scheme with childhelp working with foster kids. They literally have you meet at this location which is just an empty building rented out to meet at for a location of where you drive to afterwards. Kinda sucks. Anywho, this is no longer a museum. Theres no art. Theres nothing here. It's like just office space. If you come here for something great. You will miss it.

Such an important place. The displays present a reality of the diverse West that are so much more realistic and interesting than our view of the West shaped by novels like “The Virginian”, John Wayne and Spaghetti Westerns movies. We don’t have to revise our history of the West because the West was always a multi-cultural, Libido space for the real radical transgressive outlaws and some “lawmen” who may not have been what they seemed but certainly more than capable despite what society roles would have us believe.

This was an excellent museum experience. My friend and I decided to pop into this museum on a whim the day before I left town and man am I glad we did! The staff were quite knowledgeable and answered lots of random questions I had.

Very nice small museum about some of the lesser known western personages. A great addition to a stockyards visit!
