We camped overnight at the park. Our campsite included electricity, picnic table, fire pit, water from a faucet, and paved parking space for up to 3 vehicles (long enough for an RV). Other campsites include 2 parking spots side-by-side. Our space is big enough for 2 large tents. Due to rain, several dirt trails were closed... although trails that are paved are open at all times. The Shoreline Trail (paved) is very nice and there's a brand new restroom facility. There's a playground on this trail. Overall, this park is not as scenic or hilly as other parks in terms of high and low elevations. But, it's still a beautiful place to explore nature and spend a few nights.

Very pretty park, stayed there for a few weeks in November and December. Lots of different options and views, great hiking trails. Park staff is nice. The nature is beautiful, loved the nightly howls of coyotes. There were some issues with toilets, but overall the stay was good.

Thousand Star Accommodations! It's a great place to go camping and day hiking, with beautiful views of the lake! The weather was chilly, but we were prepared and there aren't as many people or pests to contend with during the off-season. We opted to go into the neighboring town for dinner, then built a fire in the evening. Reasonable prices, prepaid, helpful reservation staff, and zero hassle from neighbors or park rangers.

Came to swim at the day-use area. I will say that if you are bringing someone with sensory sensitivity, note that when you’re walking into the water there are small rocks/pebbles until about 3ft in where it changes to slick, thick mud. Otherwise, we enjoyed our time at the park and loved the covered picnic tables! Pretty views too. Toilet near the swim area didn’t flush and roads were choppy here and there, but the park staff was nice and we enjoyed our day out.

Nice park, well kept friendly office staff. One caution is that many rv sites are not particularly level and can take some effort to get level while other sites are pretty level. The longer sites at the beginning of each of the 4 loops seem the best. Good walking trails, nice lake, Penn Farm was an interesting place to visit within the park. Overall a very good place to stay.

Our campsite was a bit secluded with lake access. The site didn't have a cover over the table though which would be a great escape from the Texas sun. There is a lot of cleanup that could be done as far as fallen limbs and dead trees but the park is beautiful still. The land varies in altitude, miles of trails, multiple boat ramps, and a historic farm all in this state park. The water was like glass for the majority of our stay which is very uncommon for us to experience. The Argentine ants did not bother us, I believe, due to the temperatures. We will be back.

We loved our Father's Day camping/lake trip! The spot we had and the facilities available were perfect. My only complaint was the amount of rocks on the shore and in the water at the spots we went to. Highly recommend this as a getaway, but with water shoes!

Such a beautiful place to go to and experience! The park rangers are so kind and helpful. I always find some wildlife out here, great place to unwind and breath in some fresh air.

Hiking on some very long trails 🚴 🚵 lots of birds even caught a glimpse of a nice size rat snake 🐍 on the trail. Following the fun we had picnic 🍉 with swimming. 👙 Having the breeze from the lake is an excellent way to beat the Texas heat. Several pavilions for shade and grills went to great use. My only complaint is the construction is still going on the beach side so if you want a swim beware of the rocks 🪨 ouch! Hopefully, they're building a playground other than that very clean, fun family adventure for a day or stay.

Nice park. They patrol good during the day but once it goes dark did not see them drive around on Coyote Crossing. Staff are friendly at the front, admission was quick and easy. The park was nice and clean, lots of shade and trees. Water looked beautiful and was very relaxing to watch.

Absolutely love this state park! My husband and I come here all the time and it’s our favorite. The staff is always super friendly and helpful and everything is well kept and clean. The hikes are fun and the swimming is always a great time too! We love it and will continue to come back.

I love this beautiful park. Lots of trails, camping spots and (pond/lake) water activites for swimming, boating, fishing. Fun seeing the road runners throughout the park. But JSYK this park is eroding fast and needs a lot of money poured into upgrades and repairs. Most roads and camping sections are uneven, and the bathrooms are very dated, the two I went inside I noticed broken things - soap dispensers, handicap benches in the shower stall, faucets that didn't work and leaking ceiling with moldy stains throughout. I have no issues with vintage, and these things are not neglect...this amazing park needs funds and donations.

Recently they renovated the park and now it's so good. Penn farm trail is full of old stuffs like barn, house, farm machines. Restrooms are clean. Day use area is nearby of lake and view is very beautiful. Also, trails are so beautiful to walk. Such a beautiful park in a very close distance of Dallas.

25 min from Dallas what not to love?! We’ve stayed here a few times camping in our trailer. It’s a nice clean park that’s pretty darn big with a big lake, pier fishing, tent and rv camping plus primitive camping sites. Firewood for sale by front office (they could run out if you’re getting there middle of the wknd). Bike friendly and even got to use the “jammock” aka Jeep roof hammock at the lake for the sunset! When booking an rv site some have sewer/full hook ups and some only have water and electric! We were at site 242 in Hog Wallow which does not have sewer but a nice HUGE spot with both hill and lake views. Dump site was very close and very clean. Beautiful go to camping spot near the city with hills and trails and cute little events every month like guided tours, eclipse campfire talk and telescope party, Xmas events, kid stuff, just a bunch of fun cute things. A good amount of rv and camping spots have water views.

Not sure how I lived in Arlington for a good 4 years and never visited this park. Amazing views, good trails and last but not least…. Peaceful. Loved it. Will definitely come back for some camping as I peeped the perfect little site 👀-

I'm not the typical visitor for this place. I came here looking for great views and a twisty technical road to drive. Not fast, nothing crazy. Just not endless highways with a car that deserves to go around a few corners. I found that here... and found an amazing escape from the Dallas cityscape. In 20 minutes out of the city, I felt like I'd been transported somewhere totally different than Texas. Amazing scenery. Gorgeous, welcoming nature. The lake was mesmerizing and calming. And I got to drive the twisty roads I was looking for. 10/10. Will be back again, and I'll bring a blanket and some good and have a picnic.

What a great place to be outdoors! Great trails for walking, hiking and biking. Dog friendly. Moderate to challenging trails to pick from.

Huge state park. Campground area was nice. Sites were un-level, but spacious. Staff was friendly, self guided tour of Penn Farm at the park was really interesting. Plus it’s so close to anything you could want to do in Dallas.

This park was very nice and well maintained. The trails were great but two I know of were closed for construction so I didn’t get to finish them. My dog and I really enjoyed our time here. Just an FYI though for dog owners- we left here with 3 or more American Dog Ticks on my Pup. I didn’t notice them until the next day but the infestation seemed to come from the Talala Trail where the grass was high and we had to push through the brush on the trail.

Went with a big group and had rented 3 camp sites. Two of them were too small and slopped, not ideal to set up tents. Third site was big enough to set up all three large tents . Had a great time barbecuing and setting up a campfire. Restrooms are fairly clean and not that far. Enjoyed boating in the lake too.

Beautiful and peaceful. Very relaxing. We lost our atlas and the park volunteers found it and was waiting for someone to ask about it. They gave it back and was pleased to be able to help us. Great little park lots of good campsites. Didn't have time to walk trails but it is peaceful.

Cedar Hill was a very nice state park but a little to close to the city and the airport. It's a wonderful place for those close by to go spend a weekend in the woods. My stay was very nice and relaxing which is what is the most important part. I saw lots of families and pets.

This is a good park that could be a great park. It needs maintenance and updating. Our RV site hadn't had the grass cut in a while. The paved RV parking area has a tripping drop off. The bathhouse needs cleaning and updating. When we arrived on a Wednesday at 3:30 pm the office was closed but they have instructions to get to your site. Don't get me wrong, the sites are large, we had water, sewer and electric. Everything worked fine. I had 5g with Xfinity. 110 over the air TV channels.

Amazing place, One of my best get away spots over the last few months. Be it a rainy day, sunny, windy or cloudy, this place looks just beautiful from anywhere. Would recommend you to take a bag of beers , have a Bluetooth speaker , a pair of cloths and a bunch of friends to chill while this would be the best.

What a great space to be able to visit. Nature and outdoors grabs you in. The grounds are always clean and well kept. We really enjoy our locally camping nights here. I always get full hookup’s. The other side has now opened and the picnic tables overlooking the water is a great place to have some outdoor air and allow the kids out. They even have a shallow beach area for you. If you haven’t camped out here definitely come try
