Amazing Experience, an active Mine with so much going on...it was very interesting & well worth the money and time. Two hours went by so fast and it is needed. Strataca helps to send you back into time allowing understanding of how mining salt began and how it has evolved. Learning the purpose of salt and how it's used today was fascinating! Everyone should visit this Attraction.

We came here as gifts to two of our kids who were turning 21 and 18, and because it just seemed cool to be touring a salt mine. Anyway, the combo ticket was sold out, but that was OK because the two or three hours we were in the belly of the beast were plenty. The only thing I would improve would be to see the actual mining, OSHA, be hanged. 😆 By all means, visit the salt mine and take your time...it's worth it.

Such an awesome and perfect outing for our family. Our 11 year old boy wasn't bored once, didn't even realize we had been there over 2 hours. The tour guides were awesome and very knowledgeable about the history and little details of the salt mine. Definitely recommend for anyone in the area.

This is an amazing underground adventure! 650ft underground active salt mine! It’s been suggested that breathing salt air has a healing effect, and many swear by it. This tour was one of the most informative I’ve been on in some time, AND in addition to making memories, you get to select a chunk of actual salt rock to save, show and share your experience with others.

Staff was friendly and very informative and willing to answer questions. Spent about 3 hours on tour with a 5 year old and 7 year old. 5 year old found it a bit more boring as there is allot of talking. There was a few stops were kiddos can collect salt rocks in a little bag. Few areas have tactile stuff like salt powder, small rocks big rocks and slabs. Tours were fun and guides were full of puns, facts and quips Would recommend for family trips, field trips, homeschool, ECT. Cost seemed high at first but would say it is worth the cost. Will warn the elevator may be intense for those afraid of tight closed spaces. Ride down is 90 second. Also underground might be tough for those scared of enclosed places.

A must see! I was a bit concerned about being that far underground but once I got there, it was not scary at all! We spent 4 hours down there and took all the tours. It is so informational and all the tour guides were very helpful and entertaining. Well worth the admission price!

Wow this place is amazing. A great place to take an enjoyable tour and learn alot more than you could imagine. Great place to spend a hot humid day. You are almost 700 feet below the ground level. And yes they drive cars down there

The salt mine is awesome. The tours are great. Part of it was self guided which is cool. Kids and adults had a great time. The kids loved being able to collect a salt rock. The wait to go topside was WAY to long. The kid running the hoist actually sent it up empty "because I'm the only one here and can't leave to ride with you". That was frustrating, there were 30-40 of us waiting at that time.

Awesome place to visit. Down 650 feet into the mine. Dark tour takes you behind the scenes. Interesting that social security stores their records in the mine and a lot of medical records are there too. Disney stores all their original films and costumes in the mine due to constant temperature and lack of humidity. Educational....lots to learn.

Very nice tour. Staff was knowledgeable and led a good tour. Temperature was a nice 68°. Tour lasted about 2 hours. There is plenty of time to walk around.

What an outstanding experience, unlike anything I've ever seen! The salt mine tour is a fantastic thing for the family to do together. It's easy walking and you could take a wheelchair on the main tour portion. I would suggest purchasing the additional train tours. The train takes you off the main tunnel into parts that give real mining experiences to show what the conditions were like in the beginning. Partway through the train tour you will stop and be allowed to pick a piece of salt to take home!

WOW! What a great tour. We were all impressed and amazed to see the process of salt mining, and see how enormous the mine is underground. We took the three hour tour that included the 'Salt Safari' and it was totally worth it. Amazing how the mine has changed over the 100+ years it's been a working mine.

Highly recommend order tickets ahead of time. This is a great place to visit especially when the weather is at its extremes. 68 year round. We have a 7 and 10 year old, they loved it.

Truly unique afternoon! The museum stuff was informative and interesting. The cute little train and dark ride were a blast. Loved being able to take a chunk of halite home!

Great experience. It’s, for the most part a self guided tour in an active salt mine (away from the actual mining and miners) that has a wealth of fascinating information. There are also two rides, the train and dark tour where you ride in little cars pulled by a vehicle that takes you deeper into the mine. The driver regales you with stories, anecdotes and information. You also stop and are allowed to get your own piece of salt. Lastly, there is a display explaining about the old movies and documents stored in the mine. Highly recommended place. It takes roughly two hours.

Great educational experience, especially for those interested in mining. Our kiddo love minerals and rocks so it was another great trip underground. There are two tours and the rest is self guided with a gift shop for souvenirs. Wear comfy shoes, don't be afraid of tight spaces for elevator ride, and headgear will be provided. Enjoy!

Amazing place! I was undecided about the extra cost for the salt safari but it was so awesome! If for some reason you don't enjoy it, then consider it a donation to the museum. You do get a nice treat at the end.

We had such a wonderful time. You will never expect the excitement that is to follow. Traveling from out of state for a homeschool activity, this was on point. There are exhibits, railway adventure and so much more.

I wasn’t impressed when we first walked in. The lobby had informative “stuff” around the room but they definitely kept the good stuff hidden below. I found it informative but maybe a little too much for a five year old, Although he enjoyed the train rides and the little snack shop.

I took my wife here for our 4 year anniversary and it did not disappoint! I bought the regular tickets plus the safari ride through the old mining areas. We got to collect chunks of salt from the mine too. You can also reserve their event center 650 feet underground! I will be back again it was so much fun.

The Strataca Salt Museum was a very fun and educational experience! Being 650 feet below the surface in an active salt mine while learning about the history and the tools used was a very unique experience. We had a great time!

This place was amazing!!! Definitely exceeded any expectations I may have had! Informative, interactive, everyone was very kind. A tiny bit on the pricey side, but for sure worth it!

Strataca should be on your must-do list. We traveled with our dog so one of us took the early morning tours and the other the early afternoon tours while the other kept the dog company. Strataca (a Harvest Host) let us stay 2 nights on the level concrete area. We kept the windows open to enjoy the cool Kansas breeze so earplugs were needed at night. We highly recommend taking the additional Safari tour.

My family had so much fun at Strataca! It was a great experience. Buy tickets in advance. We showed up when they opened at 1:00 and missed the window to go down at that time and for the 1:20. We got the 1:40 but didn't mind waiting 40 minutes. I also want to add that we had a great experience with the staff. We visited on 7/30/23. From ticket sales to taking us down to the ride conductors, all the staff members were kind and friendly and engaging.

We had so much fun at Strataca! We had a great experience and can’t believe everything we learned. Even the kids (4 & 7) enjoyed it. Our dark ride tour guide Carey was really funny and entertaining. They don’t really have a great solution for the hard hats not fitting the kiddos. We tried the straps they gave us, but it still didn’t quite work. But everything was great, and I’d recommend this place to everyone.

There is no comparison to this museum. Which museum can you find 650ft deep underground on this planet? Its a one in a lifetime experience, might not feel very special but do think you are 650ft underground. Staff is very polite. I had 3hrs tour, Salt safari tour combo, $78 for two.

I arrived early, so they bumped me to an earlier entry. There's quite a bit of historical equipment on display, and videos on modern mining. The train ride and dark ride were both cool and included in the base price. The tour guides were a mixture of experience levels, but all very friendly and knowledgeable.

This underground salt mine is so cool, great for any age and loaded with so much info from its starting and current situation! It’s an unusual attraction and well worth the entrance fee! The employees are knowledgeable and can answer all your questions and they are full of humor! It goes down 650 ft and you are surrounded top and bottom with salt, so beautiful and the temperature was cool and comfortable, I’d go back and see it again! The mine has enough salt to last another couple of thousand years, great job security! Everything you see down there has to to be disassembled and reassembled in the mine and it stays there, and there are some really old things down there! So much memories of the past! Because of the environment so many things are stored there, like movie reels, documents, medical records, etc! Take all the tour rides, each one is different, it’s so dark down there and very scary, better than an amusement ride!

*** Update*** We went back to see what we had missed per the owners recommendation. So glad we did. We really enjoyed the storage/ movie stuff and the rest of the information about the mine that we had missed. The guides were very nice and polite. It took us a little over an hour to see the rest. I do recomend the tour, however either arrive before 1:00pm or if doing the safari, skip the train or the dark ride if time is limited.*** It is very infomative, the trip started great the first tour guide was very nice and helpful. We actually went down early as we arrived early. However the older tour guide and supervisor at the bottom were very pushy and demanding. We never got to see much of the movie stuff because we had to wait in specific areas for others to gather for the rides. The rides are for the most part the same. If we had known we would have skipped the dark ride as the extra ride tour we paid additiobal for had the same and better information. The supervisor was rude to some people and nice to others. Would like to see the movie stuff but not sure it would be worth another $20 per person just for that.

This is definitely a bucket list item I can check off. It was so interesting with a variety of things to see and do. The tram ride with Heather and Kalim? was exciting and informative as was the train ride on the rail system down there. The movie storage paraphernalia was a bonus. Learning about how the equipment and process to mine the salt has evolved was interesting. Overall I throughly enjoyed it. I believe there was another tour that I didn't have time to take that is offered too. Something to do next time I go. Thank-you so much for having the wheelchairs available too. That helped quite a bit since I had just fallen a week before and didn't think I was going to be able to walk to see this after driving over 2,000 miles.

My husband and I had talked about visiting here more than once and finally made the trip. I HIGHLY recommend this. The information is very interesting and the staff is very informative. The temperature was pretty good, but if you are someone who gets cold easy or often dress for a fall day or bring a sweatshirt or light jacket. I get cold very easily and my fingers were starting to get tingling after being down in the mines for 3.5 hours. I bought the Safari tour and it was well with the extra money! Money very well spent!

A diamond in the rough. 😉 We had an excellent time exploring 650 feet under the surface. The tour guides were knowledgeable and genuinely nice. We're planning on visiting in August for the "Murder in the Mine", and then again in October for the Boy Scouts of America overnight camping trip, where the kids can receive two merit badges, geology and mining in society.
