Fiel’s
story
starts
over
30
years
ago
with
coffee
importing
and
roasting
brand
“Jardin”
(Korean
=
자뎅),
one
of
the
pioneers
of
the
South
Korean
coffee
industry.
Founded
in
1984
they
currently
roast
over
5,000
Tons
of
coffee
a
year,
have
over
30,000
SQM
of
roasting
and
coffee
bean
warehouse
facilities
as
well
as
their
own
specialty
coffee
venue,
Coffee
Fiel.
Occupying
the
entire
ground
floor
of
an
office
building
in
Seoul’s
glamourous
Sinsa-dong,
the
space
is
divided
into
five
main
spaces:
on-site
roastery,
coffee
bean
showroom,
service
counter,
outdoor
terrace
and
large
gallery
style
main
seating
area.
Going
strong
for
eight
years,
the
interior
of
the
café
was
recently
re-designed
with
local
artist
Jun
Young
Kang
(강준영)
in
November
2020,
featuring
sleek
marble
countertops,
contemporary
Korean
art
and
a
charcoal
grey
monochromatic
colour
scheme.
Their
distinctive
logo
portrays
a
fingerprint
impressed
on
a
coffee
bean,
expressing
their
close
relationship
between
Fiel’s
direct
trade
team
and
the
growers
in
each
of
market.
Pre-Covid
the
team
would
set
about
exploring
the
origin
of
each
green
bean,
carry
out
cupping
during
harvest
season
and
buying
through
premium
local
auctions
(QIMA
Private
Collection,
Cup
of
Excellence
and
Best
of
Panama).
Fiel
stick
to
a
strict
quality
standard
making
sure
all
of
their
coffees
meet
SCAA
(Speciality
Coffee
Association
of
America)
80
points
and
above.
At
the
time
of
visiting
