A blast! So this is my 3rd visit in the span of 5 years. It was an impulsive activity, we were heading to DC Saturday evening & read the description of the rooms while in the car. We were able to schedule the Alchemist room for 5 people at 915p. Luckily had it all to ourselves or it would've been crowded. Note, you can very much pass the building if not careful as its in a building you have to get buzzed into. I like puzzles and we did escape! So that's always the best feeling. Would recommend and do it again.

Private rooms with interesting premises. Price per person scales down the more people you have in your party. We had fun. Did The Alchemist successfully. It was a room where you could feel clueless at first but once you realize what you need to solve, you can get on a roll. As of today, it's rated as their second hardest room (award-winning). Locks were not complicated but the puzzles were satisfying and built a level of excitement to crack the next one. You don't need to mix any potions (although that would have been fun!) but all you need to know will be available in the room. Our gamemaster, Amanda was sweet and helpful. Unlimited hints but limit yourself to 3 to be considered on the leaderboard. Water is available and restrooms were clean. Coats and personal belongings can be stored in a closet. They also have a VR escape room which is not always available at the moment. Will return in the future to try the other rooms! Parking can be free in certain areas and during certain hours on the street. Paid parking and garages also nearby. The escape rooms are on the second floor of the building with a door on the side of it. Bookings seem to be non-refundable but can be rescheduled with at least 24 hrs notice.

The escape room was fun, but not outstanding. I’ve played a good number of escape rooms and some of the puzzled were convoluted, but not in a fun way. We got out with 21 minutes left, which is surprising considering the room we played was level 9. Overall, not a bad experience by any means, our Game Master was great.

This was the worst escape room experience I've ever had (and I've completed several). Poor room monitoring, faulty props, no clock, no 5-10 minute warning....Whoever was on staff 5/21/22 around 6PM is a major liability to this establishment. While expressing our frustration to the game monitor (a different monitor than the one we started with), we found out that there was a shift change while we were playing so the room was basically left unattended. They knew what they did (or didn't do) and we also pointed out the defects within the room. They honestly didn't care. Seriously...go anywhere else but here. To start, our room (the mafia) was not properly reset between our group and the last group. As is the case with any room, finishing requires the room is properly arranged and that the instruments in the room actually work ...they did not (i.e. cash register was out of ink and the lock next to it was stuck). Fair enough...things break down; I get that. But when things aren't working as required, the staff is supposed to be on hand to help....they weren't.... We waived our hands to asked for help and it took well over 15 minutes for someone to respond. When they finally did respond, we discovered that our math was spot on but the lock was stuck. They literally asked us (midgame) to confirm our math with our cell phones since the adding machine they provided (as a major prop within the room) was broken...Resolving that issue alone wasted 25% of our time. No cool....

Honestly one of the most well thought out and enjoyable rooms my fiance and I have done to date. The customer service was phenomenal as well. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the website stated $28 per person but we were charged $57. Our fault for not asking why, but that's a really high price for a room

Blake was incredible and we had an amazing time! I did a room here 5 years ago and am so happy to have returned, love how they’ve expanded/grown. Would definitely return! Great air conditioning and clean facilities too!

Blake was the best! Very patient, kind and helpful. I had a lot of fun. We played the patient, and it almost got us but we got out with about 20 minutes left. I would recommend for first timers, people who are experienced, and family and friends. Great experience and I would come again. :)

Insomnia Escape Room DC has some of the best customer service I have ever seen. Not only was the staff member in charge during our visit responsive and quick to assist if needed, but after we left, we accidentally left some items (e.g. cap, postcards, earrings). This was our last night at D.C. so once we returned home, I reached out to them and heard back from Mira, the awesome person who, to my surprise, actually got our items mailed back to us. I truly appreciate her willingness to help. PUZZLES – 4.5/5, appropriately difficult, though there were a few areas that left room for interpretation/misreading (the hidden writing) OVERALL QUALITY – 4/5, some parts did look a little worn but otherwise, it all fit the theme/décor. FUN - 5/5, my wife and I had a great time CUSTOMER SERVICE – 5/5 (of course)

This is one of the better Escape Rooms I've done. Very good mystery but not impossible to solve. Easy to reserve. Staff was very friendly and quite helpful

We had a fantastic experience here and we chose a difficult room with Level 9, specifically the Alchemist. It was a lot of fun. The host Nicole was very kind to us and gave us clues at the right time.

Did the Alchemist room! So much fun and well decorated! The game master was so nice and helpful! The clues/puzzles are well thought out and lead you to your next clue/puzzle well! Can't wait to come back!

We did the Alchemist. Overall a very beautiful room. It’s one of the harder rooms, an 8/10, so the puzzles were challenging but our game master Amanda was very sweet and helpful with the clues. Would reccomend if in the area

One of my favorite escape room locations in the DMV. I've done two of the rooms now with a couple friends and we always have a great time. You truly feel immersed in the room and the props are really authentic and fun to use. I also love that the team doesn't give you clues unless you ask for them, but there's also no limit to the number of clues you can get if you need them. Definitely would recommend.

Stumbled upon this gem in a seemingly random location, and was delighted to experience the VR gaming they offered. It really was so much fun, and we had a blast trying out the different games, especially with the added effect of the VR experience! I would 10/10 definitely come back, as they also have a VR escape room I’m dying to try. I only wish there were more games available to play, otherwise an incredibly fun experience (great for all ages)!

Had a wonderful time solving the Mafia escape room with a group of friends this past weekend! Very well designed room, intriguing story and great props. It's amazing how thought through all the clues are and how well the space of the room is used! I would recommend going to the room with max 5-6 people to maximize everyone's involvement. Had absolutely no problem finding parking close to the building on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely coming back to Insomnia to try out other rooms!

Great place for entertainment, but this location is hidden away on a side street with a small outdoor sign that is hard to identify. This location has some limited free street parking and a limited paid meter street parking.

This was my first escape room so I don’t have a reference point but I don’t think I need one to confidently say that the staff is stellar, the creativity of the rooms is off the charts, and the location is great too :)

Absolutely loved “The Patient” - very well designed room. The balance between challenge and intrigue was wonderful and the pacing was tight. Great utilization of technology and practical elements. Very exciting!

Our experience was excellent! first off we were running late and the only employee there was Amanda she was generous enough to let us in and stayed way later than she was supposed to and we were still able to have experience of the standard game of the escape room as if we arrived on time. She made the birthday girl of the groups night we really appreciated this. 10/10

Being experienced with other more advance room setups, I was a little disappointed with our room. There was only one room to solve, even though there was another door with a pin lock I thought would open to another room. The theme was good, and the hints were a bit challenging, but not as difficult as I had anticipated. It would be nice if there was a monitor in the room with a time countdown so we know how much time is left and if we should ask for more clues. Overall, this was 7 out 10 for the experience. Still fun but could use some tweaking.

We tried Dungeon Things at Insomnia as our first escape room experience and it was amazing! The game master was helpful, inviting and friendly and set the games rules and story well. The room itself was handmade and was immersive and told the story. The puzzles were challenging, intuitive and inventive. We never felt stuck or like we didn't know what to do next. Overall it was an excellent experience and we will definitely be returning.

Alchemist room was great! It had the right level of difficulty and was a lot of fun. We passed with 5 minutes to spare.

Friends and I did The Alchemist room, and to say the least we were a bit disappointed. Seemed as if only one girl was working and she seemed too busy for everything at once although she was very friendly. One key clue in the room was odd looking leaving us questioning while time was being lost. Was not revealed until the end that it was actually damaged and was not supposed to look the way it did. Ruined our moods immediately. Room seemed very un-modern compared to rooms elsewhere with digital tv’s and designs. Did not feel as if it was too hard but missing that clue was a bit of a let down since it was not our faults. I could see this room being an award winner, but not in 2023.

We had such a great time at Insomnia Escape Room DC! While the space seems small, the use of the escape room was incredibly innovative and creative. We had a good and challenging time trying to solve the clues, and enjoyed a few spooky moments haha. Definitely recommend doing.

Always a great time at Insomnia DC! Blake was fantastic and so attentive even while managing multiple games! Please fix the wall board in The Dungeon we would've gotten out in time if the pieces didn't keep falling off.

Went with a group of 4 people to do 'The Patient'. Was a bit disappointed with things malfunctioning 3 or 4 times and having to leave the room multiples times while the staff had to fix issues. It felt like the room was not ready for guests. The escape room difficulty was ok but definitely wasn't as hard as advertised.

Awesome experience. Did the Alchemist, quite fun. You get unlimited hints but can't use more than 3 if you want to be on the leaderboard. Would go again for the other rooms!

Completed the patient escape room. Very creative and fun room. Enough challenge for it to be fun. Did it with 4 ppl and completed in 40-45 mins. Our game master Blake was really energetic and fun. Recommend.

Did the Mafia Room for a second date, went really well and we escaped which is of course a very important part of wooing someone. Would love to return and try more of the rooms and some of the VR experiences as well. Off street parking was very available and there is quite a bit of food in the area too.

Worst escape room I’ve ever done. Arrived for our booking and the room wasn’t set up, and throughout the Alchemist game multiple clues were missing (which the game master had to slip under the door). On top of that, the entire second half of the room was STILL left unset up even after the first mishap. Overall ruined the experience completely AND to add to the disappointment, I have contacted their customer support twice and heard nothing back…. *also just outdated in general compared to other competition in the area, save your money and go somewhere better*
