We
chose
to
have
The
Lazy
Brunch
on
a
Sunday
afternoon.
We
were
there
as
a
family
and
were
really
looking
forward
to
this
meal
of
ours,
as
it
was
on
a
special
day,
and
also
our
first
visit
to
Mekong.
Our
first
impression
of
this
place
was
not
great,
as
it
looks
nothing
like
a
place
offering
a
brunch,
which
is
usually
a
lavish
display
of
their
spread
to
offer.
We
had
booked
a
table
prior
to
our
arrival,
and
so
the
seating
was
hassle
free.
But
we
didn’t
get
the
best
of
tables.
The
area
where
we
were
seated
at,
seemed
to
be
more
like
an
aisle,
with
no
good
view
of
the
restaurant.
The
day’s
menu
was
available
for
us
to
scan
on
our
devices,
and
we
were
told
that
the
food
would
be
served
at
our
table.
Looking
at
the
setting,
this
seemed
to
be
a
regular
norm
at
the
restaurant.
The
menu
itself
was
not
very
elaborate,
which
was
not
very
admirable
for
an
overpriced
place
like
Mekong.
Well,
we
waited
patiently
for
our
food
to
be
served
at
our
tables.
The
waitress
at
our
table
was
the
biggest
disappointment,
as
she
had
a
very
indifferent
attitude.
She
would
only
secretively
whisper
the
name
of
the
dish
being
served
to
the
first
person
at
the
table,
and
then
start
serving
hastily
in
all
our
plates.
She
was
always
in
a
hurry.
So
it
was
like
you
just
let
her
pour
whatever
she
wishes
to
onto
your
plates
and
let
her
be
done
with
it.
The
serving
was
clumsy,
and
she
would
often
drop
food
on
the
table
in
her
haste
with
no
regret
for
having
done
it,
which
started
getting
rather
annoying.
I
wanted
to
complain,
but
then
I
didn’t
want
to
ruin
the
occasion.
We
just
tried
to
make
the
best
out
of
our
meal.
The
starters
being
served
were
stone
cold.
Prawns
on
skewers
were
served
sparingly.
One
prawn
per
skewer,
and
one
skewer
per
person.
Then
we
would
have
to
ask
for
more,
and
the
same
exercise
would
be
repeated
after
a
long
wait,
until
we
gave
up
on
‘em
prawns,
although
they
were
delicious
but
tad
high
on
salt.
Ultimately,
I
managed
to
get
the
attention
of
the
busy
bee,
to
swiftly
but
briefly
utter
the
words
that
the
food
was
cold...and
she
left
like
a
breeze
with
no
response.
Where
was
the
courtesy?
I
felt
like
we
were
sitting
at
a
‘Langar’,
eating
free
food.
This
was
ghastly.
I
could
see
our
special
day
being
ruined...could
we
do
anything
about
it?
The
only
good
side
was
that
the
taste
of
the
food
was
good,
which
could’ve
been
made
great
with
it
being
served
hot,
with
a
dash
of
courtesy.
Anyone
heard
of
customer
delight?
Promptly,
the
service
halted
at
our
table.
We
now
positively
assumed
that
we
were
now
going
to
be
served
some
hot
food...there
was
no
communication
on
this.
We
waited
for
a
while,
and
lo
and
behold!
🧚♀️...there
was
hot
food
on
our
plates!
I
almost
cried
tears
of
joy!
This
time,
we
were
pleased
to
see
a
new
waitress
serving
us,
who
was
much
more
aware
of
her
profession.
Things
went
smooth
from
then
on.
The
main
course
was
delicious.
The
Burnt
Garlic
Fried
Rice,
Shanghai
Noodles
and
Sliced
Fish
Xo
Sauce
were
lip-smacking
and
delectable.
Kudos
to
the
chefs
for
their
culinary
skills...they
are
the
real
asset
of
Mekong.
The
dessert
was
not
very
appeasing
though.
It
was
a
platter
of
Fried
Dates
pancake
with
ice
cream,
and
strawberry
Baked
Cheese
Cake.
We
also
expected
to
be
served
with
some
Chinese
tea,
as
the
cups
were
already
sitting
on
our
tables.
But
then
we
requested
for
some
at
the
end
of
our
meal
when
we
didn’t
see
it
coming
even
after
we
were
all
done
and
ready
to
leave...by
then
we
had
learnt
our
lesson
the
hard
way
and
instantly
took
the
hint
that
you
got
to
ask.
I
was
rather
proud
of
this
little
achievement
of
mine.
The
tea
was
actually
good.
It
was
made
to
perfection,
and
it
helped
wash
down
the
oily
food.
Overall,
the
brunch
was
rather
chaotic,
with
us
spending
all
our
time
constantly
asking
for
something
or
the
other.
I
would
perhaps
want
to
visit
them
for
a
quiet
à
la
carte
dinner
to
enjoy
their
scrumptious
food.
