I have been going to this restaurant with my family since the late 90s. Not a lot has changed in terms of the taste and consistency especially with the dosa and chutneys. The food is delicious and economical. It is nothing fancy but clean and good homely food. There is valet parking available with the restaurant and the upstairs first floor is the family dining AC section.

I have visited this place twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Lunch was amazing and the quantity for the price was too much.. But I am disappointed with the breakfast, may be we went there little too early . The food was neither fresh nor tasty. We felt sambar and chutney were all made the previous day. Potato curry was cold. So I am giving 3 rating. May be I will go again for breakfast to see if there is any improvement..

We had breakfast and dinner here. If you want to taste some proper mangalore or south Indian dishes then this is the place. It's not spicy. We had ordered idling Vader, south meal, Masada dose rava dose, coffee. Service is available.

It's a good place. You can visit with your family. The early the better. From the watchman, waiter to the parking guy, all were polite and helpful. The Dosas are crispy but are not spicy like the street food. Sambar tastes good too. Lassi is a must try and so is the filter coffee. Go have fun with your family,😊πŸ₯³

One of the oldest South Indian restaurants, situated in front of market road leading to Birla Mandir. Restaurant is spread over two floors. South Indian food like Idly and Dosa are good. Uttapam is average. Chutney and Sambar are good. Tea and Coffee are decent. Other cuisines can be avoided. Chinese food was not upto the mark. Prices are on higher side. Service is decent. Valet parking and washrooms are available.

Great place, must try! Pure veg restro Food here is damn yum, meals are a must try and dosa here is also very famous I tried meals which includes mall poori, rice, sweet, chutney, 2 curries, papad, rasam, sambar, dal, curd, pickle This is a must try If you are looking for pure veg places then this place is the best It is located very close to birla mandir, secretariat As it is located in crowded area its hard to find parking, but they have valet parking which is very helpful though Its almost crowded every day but seating capacity is huge so waiting time is reasonable

"Overpriced" is the best word to describe the food served in this hotel.I ordered "special south Indian thali" but The taste is just average. So, don't expect much from this hotel.however there are few good things such as the ambience is really good. it's up to you to decide whether to visit this place or not.

Always good. Nothing new to write any review about the traditional Kamat chain. There are one of the best vegetarian south Indian hotels in Hyderabad. Always you will have the satisfaction of getting the the best in taste and quality. Filter coffee is awesome.

Udipi hotel!! Quick service, tasty food, clean and tidy. I don't like crowded places in general, but Kamat hotels are the exception. There is a no-nonsense, no-frills approach. You come here to eat and enjoy your food.... Not for the ambience, not for meeting friends. If by chance you end up here with a Volvo bus outside, best go elsewhere. When the tourists come in, it's jam packed and not fun.

Taste and Quality of food is very good and the quantity for any item is reasonable. But the service is very poor and the demand for tips which they shouldn't be doing ideally. Kamat is an established brand hence they are least concerned about the feedback. Good place to take your family. There is no temperature check during this tough covid times. No sanitiser given to guests. Few servers are not wearing masks. The wash area is not well maintained. There are toilets but not so well maintained. There is a parking lot and valets are available. They also keep the waste in the same place. If you are unlucky like me you will be forced to keep the car near this waste where there is lot of dirty water.

Being a proper South Indian and an admirer of the food. I am totally bewildered with the Pongal they had to offer. It had no taste, rather it was like boiled moong dal served with cashew nuts. It spoiled my whole breakfast. I wish the chef who had made this kindly learn the recipe and deliver it to the customers. And other dishes were up to their mark.

This Kamat is among the oldest of Udipi restaurants in Hyderabad. The food here is totally vegetarian and is delicious. They have consistently maintained the quality of food served along with good hygiene. Meal for two can cost upwards of β‚Ή 400/- Sufficient Two wheeler parking is available along the kerb. There is valet parking for cars. Washrooms need better improvement & maintenance. Overall a good place to have good South Indian Udipi food.

We went for lunch (plain Dosa, special limited thali & Gulab jamun). Food was good but service could improve as they are slow but are effective. Crowd was coming but luckily they were getting table quickly. Location is good. Valet parking available so it’s advantageous for people who go in their car (same with me).

Dropped in for breakfast on Sunday morning at 7.30am. While the board outside said the start time at 8am, they did start serving at 7.30. It's been 2.5 years that we moved to Hyderabad, but never knew about this place. We were on our way to Nani Tiffins when we saw this place (right opposite Nizam Club, Saifabad). This is a different Kamat (not the ones you see on Maharashtra highways, especially Mumbai and outskirts) but is right up there for taste and quality. Was good to see uniformed waiters serving you politely and with a smile. The masala dosa was simply awesome and so was the medhu vada sambar. But their filter coffee takes the crown. Easy seating but the place was fast filling up so it does seem like a well known joint. Not sure about how the washroom facilities were since we did not use it, but valet parking available. Pricing is certainly VFM due to the taste and quality of the food served. A must try!!

Tasteless worst we lost our savings on it better to eat β‚Ή5 meal sold by government. The dal tasted like it's burnt. And one of the worst meals I've had ever. I hated it. Staff takes years to serve. The only thing that was good in meals was jersey β‚Ή10 curd.

Good place to have karnataka style of food.. It's very near to Birla temple. We ordered South indian thali, and the quality and quantity were good.. when asked for extra sambar and rasam.. they happily served it. Overall good experience and worth for money for South indian meals, which costs around 180 rs.

One of the very oldest hotel chains. Had breakfast here, which tastes too good. Always fully crowded. This hotel is far better than Chutneys. Bit costlier, but has to afford for the taste and air conditioned seating. Parking is available at backside of hotel. Even valet parking is available.

Very pathetic service, the supervisor taken half order, didn't listen what we were saying, going here and there and came back and did even say sorry, asked for what we were saying. Idiot he is. We ordered starter soup and mains. Soup came first, missed starter, mains have come. Ordered roti but given naan. When we asked he took back and got Roti, by that time curries got cold. Very bad service. No apologies to customer

This is one of the best places to have South Indian food in the city. Their Pongal/Sambar, Dosa, Vada used to be to very good. I love their Sambar Vada. For me 2 Vadas would be heavy and hence I typically order a Single Vada. Their Sambar is different from what you get in AP/Telangana. Worth the place if you are looking for South Indian food - especially Tiffins. Their Thali is also quite decent and sumptuous. However these days they have started giving packaged curd rather than their own processing.

I visited the restaurant for breakfast and was pleased to receive assistance from the security guard in finding a parking spot. We ordered Onion Uttapam, Puri, and Vada, and found them to be delicious. The tea and coffee also met our expectations. However, the customer service left room for improvement. The waiters seemed inattentive, requiring us to call them multiple times for assistance. Overall, while the food was enjoyable, the lack of attentive service was a notable drawback to an otherwise decent experience.

Had a good experience over here. It's a good hotel with blende of South Indian and North Indian taste. I will not recommend north thali for North Indian food lovers. Heavy quantity in thali, so I will recommend the one who is having good hunger, they only should order this thali's or else high food wastages occurs.

Kamat has always been one of the best go to places to go for breakfast and lunch in Hyderabad. However this franchise has multiple issues. 1. Food I ate was a little stale and as a result I had diarrhea. 2. I saw cockroaches around my dinning area, so that is a concern on cleanliness of the place. I would urge administration to kindly get pest control and improve your food quality.

I had food here, specifically lunch, so not sure about rooms/ accommodation. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. The place can use a bit more hygiene. Even though it was a closed A/c restaurant, there were a number of flies. Apparently, this is a well established old restaurant and it shows in the demand as people were queuing to have food. Location wise, it's on a very busy street in the centre of the city, so parking is an issue.

I have come after about 40 years. I didn't stay at the hotel, but I had breakfast at the restaurant. As I remember, the place is always busy, but the wait staff is very well equipped to handle the crowd. I ordered butter masala dosa and idli/vada combination. The food tasted good and was filling. I found the sambar to be a little too sweet.

This is the best among the kamat chain of hotels in Hyderabad as others have lowered their standards of service and maintenance. Six of us took thali and the bill came to rs 1100 . Good ambience.courtrous staff. quick service. Quality of food tasty and good.centrally located. No parking only on the busy roads. Good bet on any day well maintained reputation for years.

Ordered chilly garlic noodles and veg Manchurian. Both dishes were too spicy/hot to eat, had to ask for a replacement. Initially the staff was reluctant to change the dish. I feel the chefs don't maintain a standard and are not bothered.

A best place to cherish Karnataka style food near Birla Mandir. Of course most of the menu is now filled with North Indian dishes though. The restaurant is in a prime location, hence generally crowded but not much of waiting time as it is a two floor restaurant. The food taste is simple not spicy and not too mild. The staff is kind and very experienced. I enjoy talking to them in Kannada. No parking place in front of the restaurant. Valete parking is available, they park the backside of the restaurant. You can reach the parking place from the first floor. Prices are as good as any other South Indian restaurants. Unfortunately the menu doesn't include much of North Karnataka dishes.

It's a veg restaurant. I am from Kerala. I think that's why I didn't like their food. I am ordered veg thali meals. First their get the five poori. It's a small poori. Currys are give me average taste. Then finish that poori, then their are giving the white rice. I am just used only curd with salt. Because I didn't like their side dishes, except their sweets. Otherwise their ambience and service is very awesome! I like their customer care service.

Good food and nice restaurant which has a history with this city. I saw a lot of political figures coming here to eat too. Sadly I saw a lot of cockroaches scroll around, and on my table. I think it's because of the art work on their wall. It adds beauty to the place but it being made of wood or cardboard, is leading to millions of cockroaches, which is disgusting, I had informed them counter guy of this issue, hope they will fix it soon.

Very good breakfast. Idli vada, masala dosa, Pongal, coffee etc are very good. They gave unlimited coconut chutney without even asking for it. That's great. Masala dosa is big in size, potato inside or the masala was very tasty. It's cost is 100. Pongal 100, coffee 50 but worth it and enough for two persons. Fresh pineapple juice was also good. But bit costly. They charged 100. Sambar is ok. Wallet parking is available. Service is very fast. Comfortable seating.

This is a good vegetarian restaurant. Vegetarian means only vegetarian. North Indian, South Indian and Chinese varieties are available. Ground floor and first floor dining is available. It was our luck that there was no queue in waiting for their turn to gulp. A specialist feature you do not find in other hotels is that in first floor left side portion is like a garret with glass flooring beneath which light from roof lights of ground floor will be flashing. Added to it to its left side is French window type glass walls are arranged. By watching the traffic outside you can enjoy πŸ˜‰ the malai koftha with tandoori roti and second roti with palak paneer and third one with mutter paneer. After satisfying the tummy dinner ended with curd rice to neutralize any indigestion. Best thing is valet parking is available. Suggestion is meetha pan to be offered at end to mark completion, price of which may be adjusted in food items. Good place to market, shopping and to attend govt n RBI works, AG's office etc.

Food and coffee are tasty, but the quantity is way too less for the price. In most good South Indian breakfast restaurants, they will give at least 2 chutneys. Here, only one chutney and sambar. The plates are small, so they're not comfortable to eat. Items are not awesome and not bad either. Service is good. Ultimately, the price is not worth the experience.

You can't go wrong with Kamat. Very hygienic , tasty meals and food items available here. I have been a patron since at least 18 years and it never disappoints. There are a no.of branches but this hotel is special in my memory. The green Chandler's in the upper floor bring back fond memories. This location is very close to all important places of Hyderabad like birla temple, Lumbini park, secretariat etc. The staff is always matter of fact, cordial and professional. You can still see amazing workmanship in the food and service. It doesn't have any rooms. It's just a vegetarian restaurant.

I love chole bhature and filter coffee a lot from a very long time. And still love to have the same there though the taste of food is not the same as olden days but still it's good. Hospitality is awesome.

I recently visited Kamat Restaurant and was blown away by the delicious food and great atmosphere. As a vegetarian restaurant, it was a relief to have such a wide variety of options to choose from. One of the standout dishes for me was the paneer butter masala, which was cooked to perfection and had a great balance of spices. I also have to give a shout out to the gulab jamun, which was hands-down the best I've ever had. It was also great to learn that Kamat Restaurant is a third generation family-run business. It's clear that they have a lot of experience and pride in what they do, and it shows in the quality of their food. Overall, I highly recommend Kamat Restaurant for anyone looking for delicious vegetarian food in a welcoming atmosphere

A pure Vegetarian restaurant with lots of vegetarian dishes that includes south indian tiffins, north indian dishes, thalis. There are plenty of rice options to choose from. The best food we had in recent times. Went with family during vacation and had a great time with the service being so good and the order gets to the table within 5-10 minutes. The prices are not so high and are affordable by middle class families. Must try items- Panner dosa and Chole Batura(Chole curry tastes so so good).

Simple vegetarian food as consistently as ever. These Kamat hotels maintain the same quality and menu at almost all their outlets across the twin cities. This one near the AG office is no exception.

The food was excellent but the noisy atmosphere made me eat less. The dessert I had here felt good after having a good meal. Since it had pure vegetarian menu, it was more good as the vegetarians like me can have a decent meal here

Ambience was very good. On first day took 'kamat special lunch' and hakka noodles. Taste was soooooper. On second day took idli vada and veg manchurian. Idli vada was good. But veg manchurian was some what OK ok. Overall experience was good. One special thing to notice was almost all staff are from Karnataka. Felt like I was in bangalore only.

Great meals at a reasonable price. We gave tried the south indian thali. It comes with pooris and an assortment of curries and papad on the side with yogurt and gulab jamun/any sweet of the day. The place needs a revamp as its still the same as the old infra.

One of the oldest restaurants in Hyderabad serving the amazing food even now. Before pandemic, i used to visit this restaurant quite often but this was my first visit post pandemic and i have to say that there hardly any change in their hospitality. Even now they greet you with the same politeness and humbleness even when it's buzzing with crowd. I had ordered idli wada and Pesarattu. Even though they were super tasty, the idli was not that soft and the wada could have been a little more crispy. Pesarattu was made to perfection, it was an absolute delight to eat such one after a long time. The filter coffee was very good. I will be visiting them again soon because unlike most of the so called south indian restaurants or Udupi restaurants in the city, at least some of them are still maintaining the standards and Kamat is one such example.

Good place for all South Indian food. The breakfast is definitely very good. Not a cheap one. 200-300n per person. One is the oldest restaurant chains in Hyderabad but this one is easily the best one amongst all of them.

The food served here was good. It was served hot. It was tasty. The table service was nice. The person attending to us was very accommodating when I asked for something to change in the order I had placed. The place was crowded as I visited on a weekend for lunch. The only thing I was not happy with was the restroom. It was not clean, the flush was not working well.

I always ate here after going to birla mandir up until I moved to Bangalore 4 years ago. The place has not changed, but the quality surely has. I had a simple Jeera rice, Dal tadka, Methi Chaman and naan, which I shared with my company of 2. What used to be a restaurant where you paid a nominal fare for an exorbiant party for your tastebuds has become just another run of the mill restaurant. I'm sad they couldn't pull through COVID as well as Sukh Sagar across the road did.

Pure veg restaurant. Good place to have breakfast on the go. All varieties of South Indian and a few north Indian breakfast items available. Good taste. Ambience is ok. Service is reasonably good. Parking limited. Valet parking is there.

Too crowded and poor service. We ordered kamat thali, we need to remind them multiple times for papad and pickles and by the time they give, we finished our food. We want to ask for extra rice and curries, but the waiters are too busy they don't have time to take orders.

This age old Kamat Hotel is still maintaining its quality in food and environment, which have always been above many other Udupi Hotels. The service is fast and courteous. However i did notice more than one diner being disrespectful towards the restaurant staff. Shame on these customers who misbehave with such dedicated service oriented restaurant staff members.
