This is a giant and important shrine in Katori. The approach leading up to the forest entrance has a number of shops selling local foods and souvenirs. I reccomend trying the dango from one of the stores. The shrine itself has a number of buildings alongside numerous torii gates and niomon gates. Great place to spend some relaxing and chilled out time surrounded by nature.

Magical place. However, it's not very easy to get there. If you look at Sawara you will find a bike rental at the tourist information on the Ono River. If necessary, just ask at the tourist information center.

I visited Kashima Shrine after visiting the shrine. I arrived in about 30 minutes using the Higashi Kanto Expressway. Pass through the vermillion torii gate and climb the stairs to reach the beautiful tower gate. Beyond that, there is the main shrine in the back. At around 13:00 on March 9th, a wedding was held. Is it a ryuteki, sho, or hichiriki? It was my first time listening to a live performance. Immerse yourself in the mysterious world I felt like I had shared happiness with you. Being guided by a local cat We also visited the Okumiya shrine, which is half covered in bamboo forest. We ate soba noodles at the approach and stayed for an hour and a half. I am glad that I was able to visit the shrine safely.

I been here with my family of 3 and a baby. The place is embedded in the nature and seems like middle of forest. Place was having lots of positive vibes and peaceful from inside. Would love to visit again. I was in a mind set that pets are not allowed to visit temples or shine. Pets are allowed here and I miss to take my pet along with us. And don’t forget to try some local delicious snacks in the street.

It's located not near the road, you've got to walk uphill for a couple of meters but it's worth it, the environment is so beautiful and traditional

First time for me to visit Katori Jingu. Highest grade of shrine is called “Jingu”. I really like Honden and path to there. The color of honden building is black, which is rare, it’s so cool. You can enjoy eating Dango which is rice cake ball. I definitely believe you will enjoy here!!!

Cool place with a nice pond! Not a huge shrine area but still neat. "Ok" restrooms close to parking lot. Few shops on walkway to shrine.

Can be reached by bus from Sawara. The approach to the temple is a long winding tree-lined avenue which helps build the anticipation. Once there, the grounds and buildings are immaculately well kept, making it a very rewarding experience.

I came to Katori Shrine for the first time, and it wasn't particularly crowded, which was nice. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the number of visitors seems to increase.

👍👍 Nishiarai Daishi in Tokyo, Kawasaki Daishi in Kanagawa, and Kanpukuji Temple here in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture. Among the three great masters of the Kanto area, the reason why they are not well known and seem to be low-profile is probably because there is no "OO master" in the temple. Or is it...
