This is a delightful open-air historical museum. The entrance fee is minimal (free if over 65) and the fees for some activities are also very negligible. If you don't take part in any of the additional activities such as experiencing a tea ceremony, making paper or making an original notepad, there are still so many things to see and experience. I spent over three hours here - including eating lunch at a nice covered pavilion. Even though I went on a national holiday it was very quiet and did not feel crowded at all. As this place is accessible by bus, I recommend it for anyone who has extra time in the Narita area. You can even dress in kimono during your time in the museum!

An amazing village frozen in time. It was fascinating to see how people in Japan lived during the Edo period. The houses were already earthquake proof. They were also built for privacy and security as well as the weather. The farms were organized and practical.

I wound up here on accident after going to the nearby onsen/restaurant. It was so much fun! Not expensive and very pretty and informative. I am American and speak basically no Japanese and was still able to do crafts and a tea ceremony. I really enjoyed it and would recommend to anybody who doesn't mind walking a bit.

Very nice experience. Feels like in Edo-period movie. All the staffs are very friendly. I tried the old style sweets & coffee, so delicious! You should rent costume in the entrance to really live the experience. They provide some anime characters costume as well.

While a bit difficult to get to, don't let that deter you from coming to see this old beautifully preserved town brought to life. This is no mere recreation. The buildings and such here are all original restored Edo architecture.

The shop where you can rent costumes for is right in front and they were so nice! fitting us and all. The town itself was dead the day we went. No staffs were out show casing. I think because it was supposed to rain? so it turned more into like a ghost town feels.

Normally I would not give 5 stars as most of the exhibits are only explained in Japanese, but this place is so exceptional in its scope ! Many hands on activities for kids. Only had 2 hours, which was not enough. Recreations of farms, stores and houses from 100 years ago and older. Free admission for seniors and young children.

Absolutely beautiful open air museum that looks like an old town. Very traditional buildings and so much great foliage. You get the opportunity to cosplay fun things like samurais and ninjas or sport a beautiful kimono. They dress you from head to toe and then you get to explore the place. Very serene and peaceful.

To enjoy the place & to have nice photo shots better go & visit the place on weekdays. The ambience is so unexplainable. You can image yourself in Edo period. They have rentals for ninja & yukata, you can wear them while walking along the village (replica). This is a must for people who wanted to experience old Japan. They also have tea ceremony. You can choose from 300 or 500yen. Aside from it, they are also various activities to try like pot making, senbei making & others. Just check their website to learn more. The general admission fee is very affordable, 300yen. For grade school only 150yen. Don’t hesitate to visit. It’s quiet huge place so I recommend a whole day visit. Food is allowed, but of course no littering. Great place for family outing and very educational as well.

This was fun for the family. There are many crafts you can make starting from 300 yen. You can even try out being a blacksmith and take home what you've made. There are cool little exhibits throughout the outdoor museum park. Some have English explanations. The farm houses were cool. There are stag beetles at the park if you're interested. But, there are many mosquitoes as well so be prepared. There aren't many benches throughout the park but, you can take a breather in the samurai house or the farm house. The vegetable garden in front of the farm has a wide variety. It is pretty interesting if you want to know about what you eat. It was hot when we went so we couldn't visit every place but, that's not a problem because this is place I will be coming to again.

(Translated by Google) Boso no Mura is a hands-on museum in Chiba Prefecture. There are as many as 480 events a year. The townhouse of the Edo period is faithfully reproduced. A place where you can feel calm. The location of AU's Santaro series on mobile phones is also filmed here. At Machiya, you can experience various things such as making Chiyogami candles. In addition, you can eat Zaru soba and Kaminari udon at Machiya's Soba restaurant Inba. Business hours are from 11:30 to 13:45. The second floor of the tea shop Yamabeen is a cafe. There is also a teahouse in the festival square where the village Kabuki stage is located. You can buy souvenirs at the general information center and at the Fudoki no Oka Museum, which has a museum shop. There is a restored pit-type dwelling on the back of the Fudoki Hill Museum. The pit dwellings of the Yayoi era and the burrow dwellings of the Kofun era are faithfully restored and wonderful. This was better than the other 21st century forest in Matsudo and the Jomon Forest in the park of the square.

Regarding this place, I guess we can say.... Old town road. Yeee-hhaaaa! The atmosphere is old Edo town. Inside the building is a thematic museum gallery. You can experience making traditional Japanese trinkets such as koi feeder or hair ornaments and tea ceremony at samurai house.

  • 5/5 Louie P. 4 years ago on Google
This is the EDO period Japanese equivalent of an American old west town that you can visit and step into the period. It is functional with a blacksmith, people making traditional paper, bamboo goods and foods. They have cultural and entertainment things here, whether you want to learn what life was like for the people of this period, or you just want to cosplay as a Samurai or Ninja. Either way, it is fun.

Nice historical place. Worth a day trip other historical tombs, mounds nearby and a museum with Jomon artifacts. Most people came by car , it’s a bit remote. But, you can get there from shimoza- manzaki station, maybe 30-40 mins walk along the road. You’ll see a trekking map when you exit the station. I didn’t see any buses while walking but I recall seeing only 2 or 3 scheduled buses from Boso no Mura. If you are traveling with kids, going by car is better.

(Translated by Google) Fudoki no Oka Museum is closed. There are several parking lots, so if you want to take a walk, it is a different place, but it is recommended to be near the place you want to see. Although the area is large, the main area is the “Drum no Sato” area where you can enjoy the experience of the streets of a merchant (300 yen for adults), a restaurant and a shaved ice store with a Narita dream farm, a restaurant, a vegetable section, and a cosplay costume hall. Heel. You can experience painting candles and papier-mache in the streets of a merchant. Please note that most of the receptions will end around 15:00. At the samurai residence, you can experience tea ceremony and trying on armor. Experiences are often cheap, ranging from 250 yen to 500 yen for a fee. Toilets are everywhere around the streets of merchant houses, which is convenient. (Translated by Google) There are various stores where you can experience and visit the "Merchant's Townscape" that reproduces the old townscape, and you can enjoy it if it suits your hobby. There is also a restaurant, and this time I got zaru soba (500 yen) and tororo soba (700 yen) at the soba restaurant. The price was great, and the taste was good. The entrance fee is 300 yen for adults, but since it is the same as the Fudoki museum, it was a great deal, and the discount was 240 yen for the JAF card, which was 20% off. The size of the burial mounds is much larger than expected, and it is strange that they are so dense. From the south end of No. 101 tombs on the west side, you can take a walk around the farmhouses on the north side, visit the museum, etc. You can enjoy the whole day from the morning.
