I’ve visited Temples throughout Japan in my 47 prefecture travels and this one doesn’t disappoint one bit. After eating lovely prepared eel/ Unagi my favorite Japanese dish beforehand at a 110 year old restaurant it was so enjoyable seeing the architecture of how the Japanese build their temples.

Large temple complex, with a very nice park. The buildings were grand in scale and crafted in true artistic style. The staff were friendly and very helpful. After visiting the temples, we walked through the woods and pond. It was peaceful and charming. there was a small waterfall completely made the grounds magical and a zen like sounds of the crashing down. The falls filled a creek that flow into the pond. The entire temple grounds began our week long tour of Japan, and met our high expectations. Definitely worth a visit.

Center of belief in Narita area. Very close to the airport. Worth half a day trip if you have time to spare before boarding. The busy street leading from the train station to the temple is lively. Lots of famous eel restaurants among the road. Be sure to take a tour inside the pagoda at the top of the hill. There's also a museum worth visiting located inside the park.

The Naritasan Temple is my best like place to go when I was at Narita area. When I visit Tokyo, I used to stay one night at one of the airport hotels at the Narita Airport area. I always visited this temple next morning , then head to Tokyo in the afternoon. This temple has over thousand years of history . It's also one of the biggest Temple + Park in Japan. The Goma (Homa) Ritual 護摩 is a secret art of Shin Esoteric Buddhism , The Fire of the Goma rite symbolizes the wisdom of Fudo-myo-o 不動明王. The fire worship ceremony is worth to visit . Usually 4 times a day , 9am, 11am, 1pm & 3pm. Usually , I will walk through the street which are different shops on both side, have lunch in one of the restaurants. You can reach the Narita Station , also the hotels pick up are there. Then I will go back to the hotel to pick up my luggage and take the hotel shuttle to go to the airport or the train station. This is the place I highly recommend when you can spend one night at the Narita Airport.

Loved visiting Shinsho-ji Temple in Naritasan. Top tip - Come straight here by train from Narita/outside of town (unless you are driving), walk along Naritasan Ometesando (shopping street), then walk up to the first tier of the Temple but ignore the shrines. First make make your way, up and around to the beautiful park at the back of these shrines, explore around and then arrive back at the main shrine area again. Enjoy!

Visited on Nwe Year day Jan 1st, 2022 around 12:30 PM. It was super crowd and waited around 2 hours to get into the place. I heard this place very busy on new year day. Thoroughly enjoyed the place and worshiped the god. There are lots of local foods to taste around the area.

Absolutely gorgeous place to visit! You can easily spend 4-5 hours here just roaming around and admiring the beauty of it! We didn’t pay any entrance fee. Around temples there are cute little local shops but make sure you have cash. Temples are close by Narita station (1km=15 mins walk).

A beautiful and peaceful temple just 10-15mins walk from Narita station. Huge grounds surrounded by a few gardens and ponds. One of the less crowded temples in Japan. A must-visit when in Narita. Remember to bring a bottle of water during summer but otherwise there are drinks dispensing machines if needed.

It's a magnificent temple with magnificent architecture that dates back many centuries. When visiting Narita, this place is definitely worth seeing. We walked to the temple from Narita rail station, and it was pretty convenient.

Very nice place to visit while in Narita, there's lots of shrines, temples, and pagodas. Great place to go for walks, lots of food and shops around the area as well. Definitely your go-to place if you're in Narita for a layover or a visit. Though with that said, expect the place to be crowded with tourists.

Did not expected this place to be so huge. Highly recommended for all of you to stop by this temple instead of just leaving right after eating Unagi-don.

Either you are a Buddhist or not, it’s a great place to visit. It's very close to the Narita station, so you can drop by before going to the airport. There's a beautiful park in the temple as well, and also a calligraphy museum is close by.

Amazing temple and the street next to the temple are picturesque surrounded by traditional Japanese houses and buildings cooking amazing Japanese food. If you love temples and eel, this is highly recommended. Note: The way to the temple are steep stairs.

Clean and nice place, give it a try if you have more than 4-5 hours transit in the airport. Less than 10 min buy train to the central station, and about 15 min walk to the temple.

The temple grounds are sprawling, with a large main hall, a pagoda, and a variety of other structures. The grounds are also home to a variety of statues, including several of the famous Naritasan Buddha. The temple is known for its impressive traditional architecture, and it is a great place to take a moment and admire the surrounding beauty. I attended the big temple ceremony at Naritasan Shinsho-ji. It was an amazing experience that I won’t soon forget. The ceremony began with slow plings of the bell to very soon switch to the amazing sound of a drum reverberating through the air. The drum had such an impact that I found myself lost in the sound. As the ceremony progressed, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. The temple itself is incredibly beautiful. The traditional architecture is stunning, and the grounds are well kept. I was especially impressed by the pagoda, which is a magnificent sight. One of the most interesting aspects of the temple is the tradition of bringing coins to donate to the temple and receiving a blessing through a bath in incense. This is a great way to show respect for the temple and to gain a sense of peace and serenity. Overall, Naritasan Shinsho-ji is an incredible experience. The traditional architecture, the big temple ceremony, and the chance to offer a donation and receive a blessing are all reasons to visit this wonderful temple. It is a great place to appreciate Japanese culture, as well as a great place to take a moment to reflect and find peace.

Worth visiting with so much to see. Has over 1000 years of history, located right near Narita Airport. The temple is the 2nd most visited temple for the first worship of the year which generally happens around January 1 to 3. But it is increasingly attracting tourists all year around.

Best place for one day outing with family and friends. Relax nature behind the temple is very good. You will be able to see some of the Japanese old construction. Street in front of temple is full of local food so you can have good lunch.

Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Narita, Chiba Prefecture. The temple deity is Fudo Myo-o and has long been known as “Narita Fudo”. The large complex took me about 2 hours to complete along with collecting red goshuin stamp (a total of 6) at ¥300 each. The parking fee is ¥800.

Narita wasn’t on our itinerary but we found ourselves there for a few days as flights were being sorted out and what an absolute delight it turned out to be. Shinshoji temple and its rambling gardens were a haven of peace & beauty which flowed much deeper than the visible. These days ended up as one of the highlights, along with Koyasan and the Kumano Kodo, of our 3month stay in Japan

Admission free yet you get to enjoy the astonishing view of nature. A beautiful and serene japanese garden with lush greenery, scenic ponds, walking paths, and traditional Japanese architecture. The park surrounds Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, a significant Buddhist temple in the area, making it a popular destination for both religious pilgrims and tourists. I definitely enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and park's natural beauty. It's a lovely place to experience Japanese culture and tranquility.

Visited 2nd week of May 2023 In my opinion, this is by far the best temples that I have been in Japan. A must visit in Narita! We arrived at the complex at 3pm, and it seems like the souvenir stores are already packing up. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the stunning main entrance called Somon (which has the vibes straight up from Ghibli studios). The staircase at Niomon gate is too steep and it also have washing area below it. The Three-storey Pagoda displays an intricate detail on the other face of the roof. As tourists, we felt the solemnity and serenity of the place. The rotunda near Shakado gate displays a variety of beautiful and colorful flowers. We had the chance to enter the Komyodo Hall (shoes must be taken off before entering), and it has a heavy feeling walking around inside, and when we stumble upon the history of the building where it was built in 1700s, so maybe (just for me) it carries the emotions of all the prayer intentions from 300+ years ago. We continued to roam around and stopped at a washing area. Further inside, we saw the Great Peace Pagoda, which we missed the chance to enter inside. But the view from outside was already magnificent. We did enjoy our journey walking from Narita Station to Naritasan. We get to see and be amused by the potted flowers beside the road, passed through Seiso Tunnel and got to enjoy the neighbourhood around Naritasan. Plus points: clean toilets & ramps for PWD / Elderly

2023-04-16 It was my last day in Japan before flying back to Montreal Canada, i walked from International Garden Hotel Narita to the Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and happily there was a Taiko drum festival that morning, i dearly enjoyed the show and was just amazed by the beauty and grandeur of this temple. Thanks to Japan for the japanese people's zen manner, warm hospitality, and its marvelous temples/cities during my 2 weeks of vacations/pilgrimage.

We landed in the Narita airport and decided to stay close by for the first night. To our delight and totally unplanned we discovered that there was a beautiful temple and park within 18 minutes walking distance of our hotel. We decided to pay a visit in the morning before taking the bus to Tokyo. A walk through the impressive landscaped grounds surrounding the temple was our first exposure to Japan and left an indelible impression. Very symbolic of the splendid beauty to be found throughout this beautiful country.

It is so calm and peaceful. I felt like every bad thoughts and stress just melt away from me. I joined the monks ceremony too. I think they are using some healing frequencies cause I felt lighter when I left the temple. Must visit when you're in Narita. Also souvenir shops are really pretty but you need cash. There's a post office where you can withdraw money.

I very much enjoyed my first visit here with my family. I definitely recommend this spot for everyone visiting Tokyo for the first time. A must visit during a Tokyo stay. Visit the huge grounds of old Narita Temple. See the temple and out buildings and if you are lucky enough, the monks will be in procession. You could spend days walking the beautiful, serene grounds and not see it all. From the lush greenery to the ponds, it's a beautiful respite from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.

(Translated by Google) As a tourist temple in the metropolitan area, it seems that Sensoji Temple and Shinshoji Temple here will be the best. The bustle of Monzen-cho and the surrounding area is less than that of Sensoji Temple, but there are some famous shops such as the Unagigawa Toyo Honten that you can only find here. And the magnificence of Dou far surpasses Sensoji Temple. The main hall is made of reinforced concrete "Nanchatte Temple Architecture", but it is worth seeing that five buildings, including the three-storied pagoda and Shakado of the former main hall, have been designated as national important cultural properties. General worshipers are free to participate in the early morning pilgrimage. If you are interested, we recommend staying near Shinshoji Temple and immersing yourself in the charm of Shinshoji Temple early in the morning. Five points are given for the sights that can be enjoyed both as a tourist spot and a famous place.

The magnificent scale of the main gate and the vivid triple tower are worth a visit. At the bottom of the lantern in the center of the gate, a dragon is hiding behind its eyes. Unagi has long been famous for the approach to Shinshoji Temple, and I especially recommend Kawatoyo and Kikuya. (Translated by Google) It was midsummer, so it was vacant and I could park in a nearby parking lot. There are more highlights than I expected, and if you have time, you can spend relaxing time including the park. You can also enjoy dining and shopping as there are many shops along the approach.

We had a layover at the airport and took a train in from the airport (so easy and inexpensive). Wandered from train station down beautiful shopping street full of food and wares and ended up at the extensive temple area. It is amazing. Lots of locals and pilgrims. Attached to a beautiful park and garden also. Such a beautiful afternoon spent in a sacred spot.

👍👍 This wonderful gem is always a favorite place for me to go on my layovers! I then spend some time at the pond pagoda f...
