利根川と江戸川の分岐点、関宿に残る水閘門。昭和初期に建設された水運用に水位を調整するために整備されました。現在はその役割を終えて川沿いのランやサイクリングを親しむ人々が行き交う遊歩道になっています。 昭和初期の土木技術を確認できる遺構として土木遺産として土木学会から認定されています。周りには他にも川の流れを制御するための棒出しの石や水位観測所などの水利遺産が残っていますよ。

2019年10月13日 台風19号通過の翌日です。 少し上の栗橋地区では氾濫危険水位を超え、防波堤まで残り50センチまで迫った危ない状況でした。 翌日でも凄い水量でした。 やはり平和が一番ですね！

ダムもいいですが、こういった水閘門（すいこうもん）もいいですね。治水のため頑張ってくれる姿に感動します。

関宿は江戸の昔から交通・水運の要所でこちらはその歴史の過程をものがたる土木遺産。隣の閘門、水門ともに歴史を感じつつ未だ現役。見かけも壮大です。近隣は散策、サイクリングルートとなっており公園も隣接し梅の花などあります。
