Best breakfast we have had in a long time! Delicious sourdough-bread with homemade pesto, herbs and microgreens from their greenhouse next door! Yum!

Great menu set by The Chef with only Northern ingredients from Iceland (12 courses). There are up to 6 seats by the Chef’s table so you can watch all the preparations 😍 It is definetly worth the visit! We were amazed!

We had an amazing experience at North Restaurant. This is a must stop for food lovers. The ingredients are all locally sourced, the food was amazing to taste and beautiful to look at. The service was excellent. I highly recommend to take the wine pairing as it really compliments the food.

Michelin star quality food and service. Breakfast and dinner on another level than anything else in Northern Iceland. Superior.

Wow this is such a great place and I wish I could come back! The food is some of the best I’ve had ever. Fine dining but not snobby, pretentious or particularly expensive, just super food! We sat at the chefs table and enjoyed watching them at work and had pleasant conversations with them and they described all the food. The price is very fair for the multi course meal and not too much more than standard food in Iceland but it’s so crazy good! The only downside was I wished to tip but didn’t have cash and they said it was not possible on the card machine which was a shame. It can be a little hard to find but it’s inside the hotel. The best meal in Iceland and possibly ever!

An amazing experience, unique to Akureyre. Using the finest ingredients, mostly locally sourced from Iceland, presented in a Michelin style. The set menu is created and presented by the chef. The Christmas menu was outstanding. I highly recommend this if you are in Akureyre

Phenomenal experience here in North restaurant. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was of the highest quality - in terms of taste, presentation, and creativity. I think this is a must try if you are here in Akureyri. This is probably one of the best restaurants in Iceland.

The Chefs at North restaurant are true chefs with incredible knowledge of gastronomy. We will never forget this experience and it was by far the best meal I’ve had in Iceland. Ever. Everyone was so polite, attentive but not overly so, and the food always arrived at the right time. It is a prefixed menu and we are so glad we gave it a try. If I remember their names correctly, it was Frida, who was our server, Tryggvi and Rafn the chefs and a gentleman (who’s name has escaped me, sorry) he also was great. The chefs know their foods. And carefully crafted it with so much attention. It is incredibly rare to come upon a place like this, so do give it a try. We did the wine tasting with our meal and that was also a great choice. 100% will be back. As far as atmosphere, it is small so book your table in advance if you can. Very cozy, clean and beautiful. They also list where they get their meats from which to me was very important and what a way to thank the farmers.

Wow! Brilliant Icelandic degustation at North restaurant in Akureyri. Ten courses of locally sourced produce with innovative but not wanky creations. Much better Nordic dining experience than we had in a now closed down Copenhagen dining establishment a few years back. Was worth the price in this insanely expensive but fascinating country!

Probably one of the best food experience of the year, better than starred restaurants tried in the previous month. Very fine tastes, great settings, cosy place, very good and careful service. Huge recommandation !

Don’t even bother looking anywhere else! This place is amazing. I can be a picky eater and I enjoyed every part of the pre set menu. Also, get the wine pairing!!

Excellent fine dining restaurant. Each dish was succulent and original, using some local products and nicely prepared near us. The chef was coming to our table serving and explaining each dish he made. Top cook for sure.

Really enjoyed our meal here, local ingredients treated with respect leading to some great flavours, thoughtfully presented. Our favourite dish on this visit was the smoked haddock - perfectly balanced. The slow-braised short rib from the ‘retired dairy cow’ was also a highlight. Looking forward to eating here again the next time we’re in Akureyri.

Since our originally reserved table at one restaurant was canceled, they kindly referred us to the North restaurant, and we do not regret spontaneously booking it at all. It is cozily furnished, somewhat like a living room. You feel comfortable right away. The seating directly near the action was perfect for us, as the cooking takes place in front of or among the guests. The food was very, very good. The service was a bit serious; we had hoped for a bit more joy and enthusiasm, but perhaps it just wasn't a good day. We all have those. Nevertheless, we would go there again anytime if we happen to be in the area and highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who is visiting Akureyri.

Wonderful tasting menu that changes every 3-4 weeks. A must stop for foodies who are visiting the city.

We’ve been here for breakfast as we’ve stayed in the hotel. I had really high hopes due to the past reviews. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the evening we’ve been in town, so we went for breakfast. One bummer was the missing coffee machine, looking at the google reviews from the hotel it looked like they have a good barista. I assume these pictures are old as the North restaurant only serves filter coffee from a pump machine. When we asked for an alternative they offered to get a capsule coffee somewhere from the hotel, which was a nice gesture. For food we ordered - the sourdough bread with tomatoes, mozzarella, fried egg and arugula - the waffle with crème fraiche and berries🧇 you clearly see they put a lot of thought into the ingredients and dishes and everything is freshly made. However both dishes were completely cold which was a bit surprising as the waffles are made fresh. The taste was still good. Overall the food was tasty but since it was cold and you serve yourself from a pump coffee dispenser I wouldn’t go again for breakfast.

We got the last table of the night and got the bar seat. Amazing food, local stories and seeing head-chef Rafn work his magic up close. 5 stars from us. If you didn’t go to North Restaurant did you really go north at all?

Fantastic discovery. It was me and my girlfriend, they welcomed us saying that dinner would be a tasting of various courses, from appetizers to desserts. We also chose the pairing of wines with the various courses. We had dinner at the counter and seeing the chefs preparing our dishes was fantastic. For each course a careful explanation of what we would eat. Everything really excellent. Super recommended. As soon as we left we also saw the northern light to end the evening in style. Tanti saluti dall’Italia, Grazie mille.
