Excellent little museum with all of the icelandic aviation history condensed in one place. Really enjoyed being able to walk inside the F-27 and the DC-3

Very well maintained small Airplane museum with lots of different planes and helicopters from Iceland. All of them have a short history how they came to Iceland and how they were used. Museum is right next to the runway and if planes are landing or taking off you can watch them from close by. Very friendly staff (actually only one lady there to sell the (for Iceland) really not expensive tickets). You can spend there about 1 to 2 hours. Well worth it!

Cute, little museum with many different aircraft on display that played a role in the Icelandic Aviation History. Some aircraft are still maintained airworthy (or planned to become airworthy again) and can also be visited from the inside. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Looking forward to our next visit, when the newest aircraft display is delivered from a local airline :)

I made a special trip to Akureyri to visit this museum and it did not disappoint. As a self proclaimed AV Geek it was great to see the history of aviation in Iceland. A large variety of planes on display from small personal aircraft to large commercial aircraft. Notably a Fokker F27 (which you can walk through) and a DC-3. Many exhibits call out history of different planes and Icelandic aviation. A majority of the displays are in Icelandic but they have started to add in additional side sheets that are in English. If you have the time and are into aviation this is definitely worth the stop!

The Aviation Museum is located at the airport. There are a lot of planes that are connected to Iceland or Icelandic airlines in some way. Interestingly, small planes (2-3 seats) are all fully functioning. Even those produced in 1937. The museum keeper tells us that he flies them periodically. One Cessna even belongs to him

We went out of season and we found the responsible there. He was glad to recieve us and he let us visit the museum during the morning. There is a lot of airplanes and neary all of them are ready to fly. You will find amazing models like Piper J-3 Cub, Pitts S-1XS, Fokker F27 and Douglas DC-3. All of them has amazing histories related with Icelandic aviation. You must visit this museum if you step Akurery!

Fantastic little stop in town - would absolutely recommend for anyone who enjoys aviation, vehicles or a really well curated exhibit. The curator was present when we visited on Saturday and she was informative, passionate and happy to share a wealth of knowledge with us. Loved it!

Great museum for Icelandic aviation history. In winter, the museum only opens on Saturday, so make sure to check whether your itinerary is compatible. Entry fee is 1500ISK.

Cool place. Many historical planes from long time ago. There are also many stories about what happened to the planes, history about some of the plane wrecks in Iceland. Information about the plane parts and stuff. 1500isk per adult.

Great museum with a wide array of interesting aircraft. Unexpected surprise as part of our day trip to Grimsey which ends back at the museum.

Very well curated museum with many specimens of aircrafts from the '30s onwards. Some planes are being restored by volunteers and others are still used in acrobatic flights. You can enter inside a coastal guard Fokker and read about the history of aviation in Iceland. Worth a visit for aviation enthusiasts and children!

Small museum with well maintained aircraft. If you like aviation its well worth the visit. Its not crowded and you can walk around easely. You can park next to the entrance (free parking). The staff was very friendly and speaks fluent English. You can see this entire museum well within an hour, and depending on your rush even shorter. But I do recommend to take your time here

Very cool museum that really highlights the history of aviation in Iceland, being able to get in one of the planes really helps too. They are still working on adding some English translations to the exhibits but about 90% have them.

A delightful museum which, despite its small size, punches well above its weight! Plenty of aircraft - all beautifully and lovingly restored. The DC3 parked outside is a highlight but you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended for anyone (but especially fellow avgeeks).

Definitely recommend this place. It can be opened on request (write an e-mail before). I will not spoil with pictures but it is a little museum which has a lot planes and other aviation related things to show.

😐 We were quite unlucky with the weather so was a waste of 13000 ISK each. It became windy very quickly so within 45 mins of starting they shut down all the lifts for the day. Something to bear in mind if you're a tourist going for a 1 day rental. It's obviously a tough job for the staff to predict a...
