We decided on the spur of the moment to go horseback riding and decided on this place based on the past reviews. What a memorable experience it was! Our youngest daughter had not been on a horse before and was a bit nervous but the father/son team guided us expertly through meadows and streams for a relaxing ride. Our kids had a great time brushing and petting the horses. Highly recommend if you are in Dalvik/Akureyri area.

Super friendly family run farm with plenty of passion for engaging tourists in their horses and lifestyle in the north. We had 2 guides from the farm with us and were given horses matching our experience. They took some time after the ride to warm up with coffee, tea and chocolates to chat about all things Icelandic culture. Very nice and open-hearted people. Can only recommend going on a ride with them.

LOVED the ride!! Had a wonderful time riding the horse. All horses are well taken care of, and pleasure to ride. Owners are very nice people, helped with equipment and provided extra clothing since it was chilly in the morning. Had a great ride - around the area / trotting and even galloping. ❤️❤️

This was a great experience. The people were really friendly, provided us with overalls and helmets, and were excellent guides. They accommodated us on very short notice. The horses were also really nice and friendly. Lovely views of the town and country side.

A FANTASTIC experience! Very welcoming people with beautiful and well trained horses. We did a 1 hour ride up in the mountain, our guide was full of knowledge and happy to answer all of our questions and chat throughout the ride. He even stopped to take some photos for us and let the horses have a graze on the green grass. We had only called up the night before to see if we could book in while we were in the area and they were very accommodating to fit us in. It ended up being just the two of us with the guide - a truly personal experience that we won’t forget :)

The guides, Hjorleifur and his dad (sorry if the spelling is wrong!) were fantastic. We had some plans fall through, so we decided to do this last minute. I am very happy that this is what we ended up doing. One of our favorite things we did in Iceland. The most beautiful place in the most beautiful country in the world, with gentle horses and wonderful guides. Thank you!!

Tvistur is one of our favorite experiences in Iceland. Incredibly friendly family with amazing horses. We've done a 1hr tour and a 3hr tour about a year and a half apart, and it feels like we never left. You'll get to brush the horses down and they do their best to make sure you get to feel the smooth "Tölt" gait that makes the Icelandic horses so special. Best way to communicate is via email, they are very responsive and flexible when they can be to try and get you the best experience.

Lovely ride in a beautiful valley with well looked-after horses and friendly staff, perfect for a family of beginners and for a decent price.
