Our stay at the Northern Lights Inn for two nights was an exquisite experience, offering a slice of Icelandic charm. The rooms struck a perfect balance between coziness and pristine cleanliness, making our stay exceptionally comfortable. Hotel’s ambiance is a testament to Icelandic culture, enveloping guests in a warm, local atmosphere. The lounge, with its crackling fireplace, became our favorite spot for relaxation, while the cinema lounge provided a unique touch of entertainment. What truly set this hotel apart was the outstanding staff; their genuine friendliness and eagerness to assist with everything from taxi bookings to arranging our visit to the Blue Lagoon was commendable.Shame I did not catch their names but everyone was very helpful and they even pointed out to us that northern lights were coming out. The restaurant's staff mirrored this high level of service, displaying excellent organization and a warm demeanor that made our dining experiences delightful. Every meal was a pleasure, enhanced by the staff's evident pride in their work. The hotel is a gem that promises not just a stay, but an experience infused with the warmth and beauty of Iceland. It's a place we'd wholeheartedly recommend for anyone looking for a home away from home in this stunning country. Only one tiny comment is that there is no mini fridge in the rooms but probably there must be a reason for it.

This hotel is very nice. I only stayed one night but from what I experienced it was quite nice. They have a restaurant on site and they allowed us to dine even though we arrived before the restaurant was open, knowing that we were very hungry. Very friendly staff. The hotel has a nice area for observing the sky. I would imagine it is possible to see the northern lights when the conditions are right, hence the name of the hotel. They have shuttle service from the hotel to all of the major tourist attractions in Iceland. The hotel is located near an industrial plant of some kind. It seems like a hydrothermal plant but I didn't research for sure, just a guess from the large amounts of vapor that was rising from the plant. This hotel is near the Blue lagoon, but you will need to have transportation to get there. It's not close enough to walk. Overall I was happy with the hotel and the service. The rooms were clean and nice. The staff were friendly and the food was good. I would recommend it.

I had a great time staying here. The staff was very accommodating and the room was great. Very quiet and spotless. The breakfast buffet had everything you need. The only thing they could improve is the watery orange juice. I also enjoyed eating at the restaurant. The food tasted freshly cooked and they even had vegetarian dishes.

Had an amazing stay here in September 2023, the staff was all very friendly. They arranged transportation from the airport and had a convenient shuttle to the blue lagoon down the road. Very nice cozy rooms, several relaxing reading/gathering areas with wonderful views of the hills around it. You can sign up at the front desk when checking in for a wake up call if the northern lights come out & I was lucky enough to be there on a night they did. The restaurant was absolutely amazing, I ate there for dinner & breakfast. The dinner is a restaurant experience while the breakfast is a pretty typical spread, but the food was amazing for both meals. I would definitely love to come back.

Great location close to the Blue Lagoon with shuttle service. Rooms were clean and spacious. Added pickup from the airport and it was easy to see our driver and he got us out very quickly. Restaurant was amazing, food and drinks were delicious. Everyone we interacted with were helpful and very nice.

We spent two lovely nights here at the Inn. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff was so lovely. The location is perfect - walking distance from the Blue Lagoon - and one of the front desk workers helped us find a path for a fantastic short family hike. The included breakfast is fantastic - lots of Icelandic + American breakfast choices. We also ate dinner one night at Max's Restaurant which was delicious. All of our meals were excellent. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Iceland!

My family and I went for a meal at Max’s restaurant earlier this week and had a lovely time. The room was well presented and we all felt really relaxed. When we ordered drinks we were able to choose from a selection of Icelandic gins and the server was very accommodating, friendly and professional. The food was also lovely. There was a range of options - more vegetarian options than most places we visited too! When it came it was beautifully presented and delicious. I had the root veg (parsnip that day) soup and it was perfect. I would highly recommend this well cared for restaurant.

Amazing stay!!! My husband and I stayed her for 2 nights this month and it was such a pleasant experience. We really enjoyed it. The staff were so friendly, polite and always willing to help. The room was very clean, great shower and bed very comfortable. The breakfast was nice and as expected. Good facilities overall and very nice vibes in this hotel. It is in close proximity to the blue lagoon and also other towns. I would stay here again and recommend 100%. Thank you for an amazing stay!

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The amenities are top notch with even heated towel rack in the bathroom. The food at Max's Restaurant is amazing. We even got to experience the staff in an emergency. On Feb 8, 2024 I was awakened by a knock at the door with a pleasant smile and announcement, "Time to evacuate. We have an eruption." The staff was extremely organized and calm throughout the evacuation and all got out safe. It was surprising to see how close the eruption was to the hotel. Thank you all for an incredible stay. Thankfully a volcanic eruption isn't always on the agenda.

The location is very convenient, right next to the blue lagoon and only 20 minutes drive from the airport. Simple and clean rooms, and friendly helpful staff. The free shuttle to the lagoon is also a nice plus. Only downside is the high cost compared with the standard of the hotel. Hotels are expensive in Iceland in high season regardless, but this was pretty basic for the price. Still, a positive experience.

Staying at the Northern Light Inn was such a pleasant way to end our vacation. It was so calm, peaceful and clean. The room was perfect and the restaurant was a bit expensive but nothing unlike the rest of Iceland. A nice perk was a nice coffee machine and free DIY waffles in the common area. Obviously very close to the Blue Lagoon (they offer a free shuttle to it) and the volcano but not close to much else. You will need to book the airport taxi through the hotel to get a prorated rate, otherwise you will pay close to $100 for a taxi from the airport.

Easy check in and out. Lovely guest area to sit and enjoy complimentary tea or coffee. Our room was spacious and clean! Love the proximity to the Blue Lagoon and the airport...made it an easy drive for us. Max restaurant had delicious food and the staff was very friendly. Overall a great stay and would recommend it!

First time in Iceland — very happy with everything at Northern Lights Inn. The best part is that you can ask hotel to call you if there’s Northern Lights activity!!! You go outside and just have to look up! Service is awesome — everybody is very friendly. We had to leave early for the airport, they actually offer a 4am breakfast! Rooms are very clean! Very spacious! Everything I needed were there. (I wish i could’ve asked for firm pillows). I would recommend staying here! The Blue Lagoon is 5 mins by car. There is a shuttle so very convenient.

This cozy little Inn was an absolute delight to stay at. The location is great as it’s super close to the fagradalsfjall volcano hike and the Blue Lagoon. They offer a free shuttle to/from the lagoon which is great so you can have a few drinks lol and not have to wait for a taxi. The room itself was very clean, very comfy, and they even offer a self serve bar area w snacks and drinks on the go. I had breakfast at Max’s restaurant which is connected and absolutely delicious with many options. And on top of all that all the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and would definitely come back for another stay. 5 stars all around, thanks!

We stayed two nights at the start of our Icelandic adventure in September 2023 and it was a perfect place to begin our trip. The staff was so kind and welcoming. The hotel is clean and our room was as spacious as any of our rooms during our time in Iceland. Bathrooms in Iceland are small so know going into it that you won't have a lot of room to do anything aside from what you're in there to do...how much time do you actually spend in the bathroom anyway? :) Breakfast was delicious, plenty of good and healthy food to start your day. And on our second night, the Northern Lights were out. The front desk staff knocked on our door to alert us (you have to request this every morning) and out we went. It was, of course, amazing! The hotel has plenty of chill out areas and a cozy fireplace room with games, tables, and an honor snack bar. And the restaurant! The food was incredible, and the windows overlooking the lava fields and power plant was such a great backdrop. When we return to Iceland, we will definitely stay here again. Oh! And we forgot an item at the hotel when we checked out but since it's so close to the airport, it was no problem swinging back through to pick it up on the way to KEF, so the location was also perfect!

Fantastic experience in an other-worldly landscape. Comfortable, warm rooms only about a mile from the Blue Lagoon. There are only three hotels near the Blue Lagoon. The Retreat - very expensive; the Silica, just a few yards away, fairly expensive; and the Northern Light Inn, reasonable. The only negative is the hotel fails to mention or show that there is a massive geothermal plant right next to it (and the Blue Lagoon and the other two hotels). The included breakfast buffet was great. There is a restaurant at the hotel. The hotel is fairly remote, with little grocery or other shopping nearby. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. They have a shuttle to the Blue Lagoon. Booking online in-advance is highly recommended at the Blue Lagoon. The Aurora didn’t appear during my time there. However, the hotel does have a wake-up service if it appears after midnight and you wish to be woken to view it. The hotel/ Blue Lagoon is 15 miles from the airport. Rental car recommended. The taxi fair one- way is about the same as a one-day car rental. If I was to return, I would stay at Northern Light again. Nice enough and much less expensive than the two other hotels in the area.

Very good three stars hotel in the Blue Lagoon area. Much cheaper than actual 4 stars hotel at the blue lagoon with very short (either 5 minutes by car or 20 min paved walk) distance between the Blue lagoon and the hotel. Spacious and clean rooms with TV, en-suite bathroom and surprisingly modern 4 parts recycling been (I never came across it in hotel rooms). Everything was properly working. Our room had a view towards the thermal power station. We slept with our window opened and I found constant low sound from the power station’s turbines quite comforting - kind of sea or a waterfall. Another room for our family was facing inner courtyard. It was absolutely quiet, but I personally preferred the one facing the power station. Night view at the power station is better then during day time as the station is lit. The hotel has Honesty bar where you can have tea coffee, some drinks and snacks with free access. You only have to put down what you took in a journal. To be paid later on checking out. The reception desk personnel was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was very good, worth going even you are not hotel guest. They offer tasting of variation of single malt Icelandic Whisky - very interesting, I recommend to try The breakfast was very good, plenty of choice. Plenty of free parking in fount of the hotel.

Great stay overall. Nice & clean rooms. Breakfast & Dinner both were great. They even had an early morning breakfast (4-7am) which was very thoughtful of them since we had to catch up a flight before the usual breakfast starts.

What a delight! Stayed 2 nights and felt right at home. Understated on the outside but nice, bright, clean inside. Greeted by the friendliest host and found everyone friendly at attentive. The dining area attendee was very on point and kept the area clean, food hot and all stocked up. Rooms were simple and clean. Proximity to airport and many activities was very good. Loved our stay and we’ll stay again on our next visit to beautiful Iceland. Thank you.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Northern Lights Inn. The hotel is very nice, the staff are friendly and the food was delicious! And the close proximity to the Blue Lagoon Spa makes a definite place to stay if you are planning on visiting the Blue Lagoon. We stayed in a deluxe room that included entry into their spa! Our room was very nice and comfortable. We both highly recommend staying here!

The staff was super friendly. There’s a really cozy sitting room with a great view, and the restaurant has an amazing view and very good food. The pillows & bed were really soft and overall it was a great place! We didn’t make it to the spa, but it seemed lovely from the website and the information the staff gave.

Good location close to the Blue Lagoon. You can walk there through the lava field (~15-20 min) or take a free shuttle at the hotel. The family room was comfortable, the breakfast was very good and, overall, we really enjoyed our one night stay there.

Amazing restaurant and clean/comfortable rooms with incredibly friendly service in both the hotel and restaurant. Included breakfast includes a 4 to 7am cold buffet and a 7 to 10 warm options. Arranged taxis on arrival to and back to KEF airport for a headache free layover of 25 hours. Easy walk to blue lagoon (although they have a free shuttle service as well).

Perfect place to stay to visit the blue lagoon or chase the northern lights. Staff friendly and super helpful. Exceptional food from the restaurant. Highly recommend staying here. We were lucky enough to see the lights 😊 Stayed second week of April

We stayed for (1) night at the Northern Lights Inn, primarily to facilitate a day trip to the Blue Lagoon. We were pleasantly surprised how nice the inn was and immediately regretted not staying a longer duration. The inn was immaculately clean, had wonderful staff, and was thoughtfully appointed with features and amenities that made us feel relaxed and at home. We cannot wait to celebrate me back to Iceland and enjoy a longer stay at the Northern Lights Inn.

10/10 experience! We had lovely stay at Deluxe room. It was very spacious with king sized bed. Everything in the minibar including sparkling wine was included in the price. Breakfast was delicious, it was big variety of different food. We spent great time at the lounge. There is also honest bar which is open 24/7 and you make cocktails yourself. Interesting idea! Receptionist girls were friendly

We stayed one night in the North Lights Inn and had a wonderful time. It is close the blue lagoon and the airport. It is very family friendly. The room was large enough for a family of 3 and very clean and warm. They had coffee and tea always available and afternoon waffles. We were very lucky and saw a dazzlingly display of the northern lights. Dinner at the restaurant was good and they had an early breakfast starting at 4:30. I hope to be back and stay longer to explore more of Iceland.

We stayed at the Northern Lights Inn as a large party of 13 on our last night in Iceland, and I wish we’d had longer there. Not only were the staff super friendly and accommodating they went out of their way to help us by giving us lifts too and from the Blue Lagoon and providing us with a wake up call for the northern lights, that we were lucky enough to see. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the rooms are lovely with posh toiletries and the communal lounge and bar areas are beautifully cozy. Free waffles, hot chocolate and teas and coffees were a welcome addition, along with the honesty bar and delicious breakfast. It was by far my favourite place to stop on our holiday, and I’ll be sure to stop here again, should I be lucky enough to get the chance to visit once more.

The Northern Light Inn is a cozy place. We loved the friendliness of the staff, the spa facilities, and the large rooms. The hotel's proximity to the airport is great, especially when you have an early morning flight. We did see some very faint northern lights during our stay, but nothing that was worth going outside for. Hopefully we see the lights next time! We also had dinner at Max's Restaurant. Our waiter was so great at helping us select the perfect wine to go with our meals! The food was fantastic and we had a great dinner.

Great stay at the Northern Light Inn. Nice setting, comfortable rooms, and a great breakfast and restaurant. The friendly staff will even call you to let you know if the Northern Lights are visible. For those looking to catch the light show this is a much better way to be on notice rather than waking yourself up every few hours during the night to check. 2 thumbs up!

Far exceeded my expectations on everything from lobby, common room, room size, cleanliness, and amenities! Be sure to visit Max's restaurant as it was such a treat and nice way to relax after an afternoon at the Blue Lagoon. I couldn't recommend this hotel more!

Nice hotel in a great location for the Blue Lagoon and the airport. Unfortunately this is reflected in the price. Food is nice, but we would have liked to have seen some more traditional Icelandic food on the menu. Room was very clean and comfortable and the spa is very nice. However, after staying in 10 different hotels across Iceland there are ones with better facilities for less money. All in all a good hotel, but for the money we would expect a touch more, even if its just a modern entertainment system in the room (ours was an old school TV where half the channels did not work).

We stayed here for a week in October. This hotel was an absolute joy to stay in. From the minute we walked in completely jet lagged and delirious, we were met with such accommodating, kind people, specifically Ziggy. He was very kind accommodating and helpful. The room was pristine, beds were comfortable, and the common rooms were so cozy. A good vibe overall. The wait staff at the restaurant were great and super friendly. As far as location it was perfect for us and what we wanted to do for our stay, a quick drive up the hill to the blue lagoon and attractions. The breakfast bar was great and included. The views from the dining room were beautiful. I would 100% recommend staying here and we will be back!

The hotel was very nice. Enjoyed Wellness Center. Wish we had looked into this more thoroughly before setting our schedule because we would have liked to spend more time there. Would have given this five stars but pictures don't show that you are literally right beside the geothermal power station. Hard to take any pictures with it not being in the background.

Lovely hotel, obviously ideally located for the Blue Lagoon. Restaurant also excellent. The main point of doing a review is to call out how amazing the staff were and how there were happy to go way above and beyond. We were at the hotel when there were a lot of earthquakes, which caused the Blue Lagoon to be closed. They had been amazing anyway but due to a disturbed nights sleep and most people being there to visit the lagoon, they comped our dinner and drinks. There was no need to do that and it was certainly a lovely gesture. Certainly can’t blame anyone for an earthquake!

We loved our stay at the Northern Lights inn and we are definitely planning to visit again soon. The hotel staff were great and knowledgeable about the local area and things to do. The food at max’s restaurant was delicious and service was great. Was a bit unsure about having a power station next door. But it wasn’t an issue at all. our room overlooked the power station, and at night, it was lit up in lots of different colours and was really quite beautiful, fascinating and not noisy at all. You couldn’t hear a thing from inside the room. Great location to see the Northern Lights and reception, give you a call when the lights are active, so you don’t miss them after midnight. Great base for lots of the most popular tings to do on a short trip to Iceland but would recommend hiring a car to get around. Our stay was worth every penny and I would recommend to anyone to stay here.
