Perfect location with view to the glacier. Very good dishes, with great flavor, fresh ingredients and excellent quality, attention to detail. The dishes are good but also very beautiful. Benjamin, the cook and the owner is very nice, he came to get to know us and know if we liked the food! keep it up!

WOW! This place is amazing. It is very unassuming, but the food is 5 star quality and Michelin worthy! Do not be put off by the small size of the place - and the fact it is in a rest stop. This is hands down the best food I have had in Iceland, and up there with the top food I have had in my life! I had the fish soup, which had deep developed flavors, and crispy fish skin on top. In addition, I had the fresh fish - which was plated with such care, and had flavors I was not expecting, but it all worked so well together. Please do yourself a favor, and make this a destination to get fine dining quality food, with great presentation! If we were staying another night I would eat here again. This place will be very famous soon - so get in while you can!

I came because of the 5 star, and yes, it is worth 5 ⭐️! The meat(lamb) soup is the best one I’ve tried in Iceland. The plate of fish makes feel I am in a fine-dining restaurant 🤩 So I decided to stay a while and try the dessert. I ordered the Pecan pie, it’s tasty, not very sweet and perfect with latte. This would be the best meal i’ve ever had in a visitor center of view point. 💯

A 20 year old with 10 years of experience under the tutorage of his Michelin star father with a passion for cooking. The result is great food prepared with great care. From the seafood soup to fish of the day (my personal favorite dish) to scrumptious desserts the menu is a wonderful journey. Never in a million years would my husband and I had expected our best Icelandic meals - yes, we went twice during our two day stay - to be at a visitors center. Benjamin the Chef culinary mastermind and proprietor behind this culinary gem has such a bright future. We are so glad to have been a part of it.

Eating here was an accident, but a very happy one! Matarlist happened to be the only resteraunt in town open for lunch during the off season (Sept 21). Located in the new national Park center, it's a very unassuming restaurant but they pull no punches with the food. The soups were incredible and extremely comforting for a lunch in the middle of a long cold day of driving and hiking, and the carrot cake was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. The staff were also very gracious and attentive. Overall, Matarlist may have been my favorite restaurant I ate at in Iceland!

Just an amazing hidden gem. You will understand why this place is 5 stars by default. We stumbled on this place unintentionally while visiting the national park and were wowed. Seafood soup and bread with butter need special praise - may possibly be the best seafood soup I've had in my life. The lamb shank was great as well.

Pretty AMAZING food! The fish served were caught the same morning, and tasted delicious. Sea food soup had layers and each layer tasted fantastic yet different. Carrot cake was top notch!

Best seafood & lamb meat soups I’ve had in Iceland. Lots of seafood and very good flavor. The lamb is not gamy at all. Very good service as well. Highly recommended.

This place is a gem. Totally loved my fish and my friends were very content with their meat soup and chocolate cake as well. Absolutely worth the price. Very friendly staff.

Absolutely amazing food. Our tour guide really hyped this place up, and the food did not disappoint. All the sauces and flavours were just delicious and paired so well together. The menu looked so simple and didn’t have much of a description, so we were stunned when the plates came out - everything was plated beautifully. Will definitely be recommending this place to all my friends who come to iceland!
